Dean Sorbe, 78, of Bloomington and formerly of Gaylord, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at Martin Luther Manor of Bloomington.
Service is 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
He is survived by wife Jeanneta Sorbe of Bloomington; son Thomas Sorbe of Burnsville; stepsons, Jim Kluegel of Urbana, Ill., Gary Kluegel of Jordan and Rick Kluegel of Bloomington; daughter, Beverly Miles of Bloomington; brother, Dale Sorbe of Inver Grove Heights; sister, Lorraine Grams of Gaylord; five stepgrandchildren.
He was born April 14, 1925, in Winthrop, to William and Olive (Goetschius) Sorbe.

John R. "Jack" Carlson, age 68 of Springfield died Thursday at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.
There will be a visitation on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue on Monday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, MN.
The Service of Remembrance will be on Monday September 1, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Springfield with Pastor Elaine Foote - Blum officiating. Burial will be in the Springfield City Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
John Robert "Jack" Carlson was born October 29, 1934 in Guttenberg, IA, the son of Elner W. and Josephine (Mc Lean) Carlson. Jack had lived in Guttenberg, IA, Davenport, IA, Cincinnati, OH, Atlanta, GA, and Springfield, MN. Jack graduated from Springfield High School in 1952 and from the University of Minnesota in 1956 with a Business Degree. On July 7, 1956 he married Sally Patterson in Hibbing, MN. Jack was president of Carlson Brothers, Inc. until 1997. In 2000, Jack became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. He had served on the Springfield Hospital Board for 20 years, the Springfield City Council for many years, Springfield Gun Club Board, served as the S.W. District Bituminous Pavement Association President, Chairman of the Administrative Council and member of the United Methodist Church, a member of the Minnesota Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, a member of the Jaycee's, and Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association.
Jack was also an Eagle Scout in 1952. His hobbies included playing cards, gardening, Civil War History, reading, model airplanes, traveling, sports, hunting, and being with his grandchildren.
Jack Carlson died Thursday, August 28, 2003, at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.
He is survived by his wife Sally Carlson of Springfield; his 3 children - Debra and husband Clayton Beyer of Springfield, Jeffrey Carlson and fiance' Lynette of Springfield, and Carrie and husband Butch Trebesch of Savage; 8 grandchildren - Kelly Beyer - Meyer, Ramsey and Ryan Beyer, Joshua, Tony, and Chelsea Carlson, Liz and Katie Trebesch; a great granddaughter - Brynne Meyer; special Aunts - DeVera Bean and Marge Carlson; cousins; and many many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents -Elner and Nixie both in 1995 and a brother James Carlson in 1982.

Harold Heerdt, 79, of Hector, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector, with burial in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
He is survived by daughters Karen Hunter of Hector; Diane VonBerge of Glencoe; son John Heerdt of Nevis; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers George and Clifford; and sister Florence Hedtke, all of Hector.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1924, in Hector, to WIlliam and Ada (Koestler) Heerdt.
He served in the U.S. Navy from July 26, 1944 to May 27, 1946.

Jaspora Lynn Fruhwirth, the infant daughter of Nicholas Fruhwirth and Angela Robinson of Chaska, was stillborn Aug. 30, 2003, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Graveside service will be Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Friday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Jaspora is survived by her parents; a brother, Oliver Fruhwirth of Chaska; grandparents, Jamie and Rachel Fruhwirth of New Ulm, Lori and Sebert Wilson of New Ulm, Ronald Robinson of Chaska; great-grandparents, Jim and Yvonnie Fruhwirth of New Ulm, Eugene and Michaeline Hillesheim of Mankato, Dale Schlottman Sr. of New Ulm, Louis and Janice Robinson of Morgan.

Raymond Harbarth, 76, of Hutchinson, formerly of the Brownton area, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with burial in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 8-9 a.m. Thursday at the Dobratz-Hantge Downtown Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Leona Harbarth of Hutchinson; a son, Orlin Harbarth of Litchfield; daughters, Darlene Trebelhorn of Hutchinson, Carol Fisher of Arlington, and Connie Harbarth of Hutchinson; 3 grandchildren; 2 stepgrandsons; and 3 stepgreat-grandsons.
Raymond Fred Harbarth was born on March 6, 1927, in Penn Township, McLeod County, Minn., to Herman and Martha (Polzin) Harbarth.

Agnes M. Kopetzki, 96, formerly of the Real Life Center in New Ulm died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with celebrant, Father John A. Richter and burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral and there will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Agnes is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Richard Tate of DePere, Wisconsin; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Arlene Kopetzki of Waldorf, Steven and Marlene Kopetzki of Prior Lake; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dale Sondag and Dale Herzog both of New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred J. Kopetzki on November 17, 1997; a son, Joseph in infancy; and thirteen brothers and sisters.
Agnes was born on February 17, 1907, in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, to Nicholas and Anna (Franta) Sondag. She married Alfred J. Kopetzki on May 6, 1936, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. She worked as an LPN for forty years working at the Seifert Clinic and the Loretto Hospital in New Ulm. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and was a long time member of the Christian Mothers Society.

Riley Domeier, 4, of Marshall, MN, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, at the St. Cloud Hospital, as the result of an accident.
Mass of the Angels will be Friday, Sept. 5, at 10:30 a.m.., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8: p.m., and Friday from 8-10:30 a.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling the arrangements.
Riley Christian Domeier was born Dec. 30, 1998, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He was the son of Kelly Domeier and John Schaefer.
Riley was baptized on Feb. 7, 1999, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Riley was "all boy." He loved watching and playing baseball. His favorite Minnesota Twin was Torii Hunter. He loved spending time at the lake and playing cowboy. He also liked watching Gophers basketball games and bowling.
Riley was truly a gift from God to his family. They all loved and cherished him and were blessed with his presence.
Riley was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, George and Frances Domeier and paternal great-grandfathers, John F. Schaefer and Richard Haun.
Riley is survived by his mother, Kelly Domeier and her fiance, Lynn Grosklags of Marshall, MN; father, John Schaefer and his special friend, Ellen Wambeke of Marshall, MN; maternal grandparents, Ted and Connie Domeier of Fairfax, MN; paternal grandparents, John and Denise Schaefer of Fairfax, MN; maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Doretta Tevepaugh of Lake City, IA; paternal great-grandmothers, Ruby Schaefer of Fairfax, MN and Irene Haun of Hector, MN; aunts and uncles, Alissa and Craig Buboltz of Fairfax, MN, Chris Domeier and special friend, Jessica Johnson of Fairfax, MN, JoDee Schaefer of Fairfax, MN, Jason Schaefer and fiancee, Jessie Johnson of Mankato, MN, Joel Schaefer and special friend, Loni Fiedler of Fairfax, MN, Justin and Karen Schaefer of Marshall, MN and Jeff Schaefer of Fairfax, MN; and cousins, Payton Buboltz of Fairfax, MN and Brennan and Presley Schaefer of Fairfax, MN

Clifford E. Fluck, 79, of New Ulm, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, with full military rites provided by the Fairfax Honor Guard. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Bandon Township, Renville County, at a later date.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, and will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Clifford is survived by his children, Richard Fluck of Lancaster, Penn., Leland Fluck of Geneseo, Ill., and Deanna Clark of Las Vegas, N.M.; six grandchildren; brother LeRoy Fluck of Atwater; and sister Ruth Draxten of McGrath.
Clifford Elmer Fluck was born July 5, 1924, to Elmer and Blanche (Marquardt) Fluck in Sibley County. He served in the U.S. Army from June 22, 1944. until Nov. 7, 1946.

Walter 'Wally' Pfeiffer, 81, of 1320 N. Payne St. in New Ulm, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003, at his home.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with Sister Monica Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veteran Organizations. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Walter is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ernie Camacho of New Ulm; sons, Gary Pfeiffer of Dallas, Texas, Randy Pfeiffer of Arlington, Texas, and Brian Pfeiffer of New Ulm; grandchildren, Heather and Josh Hemingway, Michael Hacker, Angela Hacker, Teejay Hacker and fianceé Whitney Schaefer, Colten Camacho, Brandi Pfeiffer and Austin Pfeiffer; great-granddaughters, Cassidy Hacker, Aliyah Hacker, and Tayla Hacker; sisters-in-law, Donna Pfeiffer and Bernice Pfeiffer both of New Ulm; brother, Otto Pfeiffer of Andover; and by nieces, nephews, and very special neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ewald, Ernie and Carlie.
Walter was born on Aug. 30, 1922, in New Ulm, to Ernst and Martha (Kunz) Pfeiffer. He attended Saint Paul's Lutheran School in New Ulm. On Dec. 23, 1953, he married Dorothy Domeier in New Ulm. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942-1947 under General George S. Patton. After the war, he worked as an interpreter for the Neuemberg Trials. Walter worked at Supersweet Feed in New Ulm for 33 years, retiring in 1983. His life revolved around his family and neighbors.

James H. Stadick, 75, of 1814 N. Minnesota St. in New Ulm, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
James is survived by his wife Marilyn Stadick of New Ulm; daughters, Rebecca Warwick of New Ulm, and Katherine Simpson and Teresa Williams both of Minneapolis; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas Stadick of Minneapolis, and Michael and Veronica Stadick of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Patty Stadick of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Rachel Warwick.
James was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Sigel Township, Brown County, to Alouis and Alma (Holm) Stadick. He was a 1946 graduate of Holy Trinity High School and a 1961 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Agriculture in St. Paul. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954. He married Marilyn Nelson on Aug. 23, 1953, in Oxon Hill, Md. After marriage he worked for Doughboy Industries in New Richmond, Wis. He then farmed in Sigel Township, Brown County. He later worked for Tony Downs Foods in Madelia and then for New Ulm Growers and Minnesota Valley Testing Labs in New Ulm.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Sigel Athletic Association and the Brown County Planning and Zoning Board.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Ralph E. Turbes, 76, of Crosslake, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Ralph Edward Torbas was born Sept. 17, 1926, on the family farm in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, to Nicholas and Dora (Reinhart) Turbes. He grew up and attended school in the New Ulm area. He was united in marriage to Angeline "Angie" Zander on June 1, 1949, in New Ulm. They farmed and raised their family in the New Ulm area for 19 years. He later worked drilling wells for Searles Well Drilling, and he sold seed and feed for the Farmer's Co-op in Hanska. For 15 years before his retirement, he worked as an insurance agent for Catholic Aid, and received many awards for top sales. In 1988 he retired, and the couple moved to a lake home in Cold Spring. They moved to Crosslake 11 years ago. Ralph was a member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church.
Ralph is survived by Angie, his wife of 54 years; two daughters, LaVonne (Rodger) Vix of Sartell and Peggy (Jadd) Seppmann of Mankato; six sons, Daryl (Robin) Turbes of Norwich, CT, Gerald (Myla) Turbes of Hanska, Lyle Turbes of Willmar, Darvin (Kathy) Turbes of New Ulm, Ralph (UnHee) Turbes of Aurora, Co., and Alan (Tami) Turbes of DesMoines, IA; and 25 grandchildren.
His parents; three brothers, Floyd, Jerome, and Roman, and a sister, Irene, preceded Ralph in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Sept. 5, 11 a.m., at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, with Rev. Father Dennis Hoffman and Rev. Father Richard Gross concelebrating. Interment will be at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.
Friends may visit Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5-8 p.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, and at the church one hour before Mass on Friday.
Memorials are preferred to the Immaculate Heart Building Fund.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake (218-692-5051).

Evan Anderson, 92, of Hector, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at Swedlanda Evangelical Lutheran Church in Palmyra Township, rural Hector with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, to Albert and Inger (Kullberg) Anderson.
He is survived by his brother, LeRoy of Buffalo Lake; sisters Esther Gunderson of Buffalo Lake and Evelyn Kivioja of Hutchinson.

Minnie Etha (Newville) Dick, 96, of South St. Paul, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Southview Acres Health Care Center.
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Edwin O. Helget, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, September 5, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home on Sunday, September 7, 2003 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM with a rosary at 4:30 PM and a prayer service at 7 PM, both Sunday at the funeral home.
Service will be held at Church of the Japanese Martyrs on Monday, September 8, 2003 at 10:30 AM. The Clergy will be Father Todd Petersen. Interment will be at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Cemetery.
Edwin was born on October 13, 1919 in Stark Township, Brown County, MN, the son of Louis & Mary (Haala) Helget. He married Alice M. Braulick on October 9, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Edwin farmed in Leavenworth Township and worked at Ochs Brick and Tile in Springfield. He enjoyed listening to old time music, our family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to his grandchildren's sporting events on the radio and looked forward to spending his afternoons at Dan's Bakery.
Edwin is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon & Linda of Jordan, Myron "Whitey", Wesley & Laurie, Dan & Sue, Bobby & Lori, all of Sleepy Eye, Harlan & Nita of Darfur, Lowell & Connie of Springfield, Brian & Sherry of Knoxville, TN, daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy & Don Ludewig, LaNette & Bill Hanson, Jan & Jon Schauman, Betsy & Randy Jensen, all of Sleepy Eye, Luella & Tom Ricke of Marshall, Donna Rae & Wallace Beranek of Gibbon, Rolene & Mark Fromm of Mankato, 47 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, sisters, Lucille & husband Robert Brand of New Ulm and Adella & husband Ray Tauer of Hanska, and sisters-in-law, Donna Helget of Sleepy Eye, Verna Sturm of Sleepy Eye and Leona Braulick of Searles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice on June 26, 1986, brothers, Marvin and Vernard, sister, Elvira, brothers-in-law, Eugene Sturm, Melvin Braulick and Stan Wiltcheck, and sister-in-law, Delores Helget.
