Lorna Zupfer, 87, formerly of 903 N. State St. in New Ulm, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 a.m. to the time of service on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Lorna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Colleen Zupfer of New Ulm; granddaughters, Carrie Rice and her husband Rory of Dundas, and Kris McClellan and her husband Nate of Burnsville; grandson Mark Zupfer of New Ulm; great-grandson Tommy Rice of Dundas; sister, Renola Jenkins of Vero Beach, Fla.; brother-in-law Sidney Spangenberg of Mankato; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Zupfer on Jan. 6, 1986; and a sister, Elva Spangenberg.
Lorna was born on April 22, 1916, in Home Township, Brown County, to Bernard and Anna (Petermann) Frank. She graduated from New Ulm Public High School. On July 16, 1938, she married Raymond Zupfer in Brookings, S.D. After marriage they resided in New Ulm. She had worked part-time at the Kaiserhoff Restaurant in New Ulm for several years. She enjoyed refinishing furniture and knitting. She became a resident at the Oak Hills Living Center in May of 2000. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Sharon J. Rogotzke, 60, of rural Sanborn, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, with burial in the Sanborn City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Survivors include sons, Erwin of Rapid City, S.D., Bradley of Sioux Falls, S.D., Michael of Sanborn, and Rodney of Sanborn; five grandchildren; her parents, Bob and Marie Albertson of Lamberton; and a sister, Pat Christianson of St. Cloud.
Sharon was born Dec. 2, 1942 in Redwood Falls to Orland 'Bob' and Marie (Buyck) Albertson.

Pam J. Matter, 46, of Milford, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at her home in Milford.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Schuchert Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pam is survived her son, Jamie Matter of New Ulm; her mother, Beverly Wheeler of Lamberton; sisters, Norma Shew of Faribault and Donna Dalen of Jackson; and brothers, Leo Hirdler of Seneca, Mo., Danny Hirdler, Merlin Hirdler and Bobby Steece of Tracy.
She was born on September 15, 1957, in Cloquet, to Leo and Beverly (Wheeler) Hirdler.

Linda Schmidt, 53, of rural Windom, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at her home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers. Burial will follow in the Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at. the Anderson-Schmidt-LaCanne Funeral Home in Windom and on Monday for one; hour prior to services at the church in rural Jeffers.

Mary Kay Reed, 76, of 1105 South Minnesota Street in New Ulm, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2003 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mary is survived by her husband, Robert F. Reed of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Hacker and her fiance', Lester Roach, Elaine and Jim Sprenger, Eileen and Dennis LeGare, Beth and Tom Bastian, and Kathy and Jim Bastian all of New Ulm; daughter-in-law, Barb Reed of Madison Lake; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Peggy Reed of Janesville, Robert and Sandee Reed of Scandia, Kenneth and Sherry Reed, Daniel and Jayne Reed all of New Ulm, and Brian and Kelly Reed of Lafayette; twenty-six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Rosie Nolan of Fullerton, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Reed on October 10, 2003; a daughter and a son both in infancy; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas K. and Dede Nolan.
Mary Kay was born on March 28, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska to Thomas and Helen (McCreath) Nolan. She attended school at the Holy Name and St. John's in Omaha. On September 1, 1946, she was married to Robert Reed at the Holy Name in Omaha. In 1957, they moved to New Ulm where she dedicated all of her time to her 11 children. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling around the U.S. She loved her dog Coco and is greatly missed by him. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Donna Scharf, 69, of 1019 N. Minnesota St. in New Ulm, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with Father Edward J. Ardolf officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Donna is survived by her son Chuck Scharf, Jr. of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Karen Haack, and Robert "Dale" and Agnes Haack all of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Doris Griebel of New Ulm, and Jane Haack of San Diego, Calif.; and a special friend, Curtis Lamont of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Twyla and Hubert Lindmeier; and brothers, Richard Haack, Jr. and Wayne Haack.
Donna was born on July 18, 1934, in New Ulm, to Richard and Josephine (Soligny) Haack. She graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1952 and then graduated in 1953 from the Union Hospital School of Nursing in New Ulm. She married Charles Scharf on March 12, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
Donna worked for about 50 years as an LPN in New Ulm, working at the Union Hospital and then at Sioux Valley Hospital in New Ulm. She retired in January of 2001. She was active in the M.L.P.N.A. (Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurses Association), where she was area president and state membership chairman and state chairman of the area presidents council. She was enthused about and active in historical research and the "Popcorn Wagon" in New Ulm. Donna enjoyed reading, puzzling and collecting figurines and will always be remembered for her pleasant disposition, upbeat attitude and for always having a smile on her face. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Dale A. Schlottman, Sr., 73, of 1915 N. Spring St. in New Ulm died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at the St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Dale is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Ronald Baker and Lori and Bert Wilson, all of New Ulm, Tiffany and Brian Danly of Kingston, Wash., and Jessica and Jeff Miller of Waite Park; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale I., Jr. and Amy Schlottman of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Melzer of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane "Buddy" and Jean Schlottman of Fridley, and Floyd and Lu Schlottman of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia, on Sept. 30, 2002, and a great-granddaughter, Jaspora Fruhwirth on Aug. 30, 2003.
Dale was born on Feb. 26, 1930, in New Ulm to Grant and Rose (Fehlhaber) Schlottman. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Korean War and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. On March 21, 1970, he was united in marriage to Patricia Goltz in Glencoe. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. He was a manager the Montgomery Ward Store in New Ulm, then was the maintenance man at the Brown County Fairgrounds. His last employment was custodian at the New Ulm Armory, where he worked until his failing health forced him into retirement. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family and he was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Linda Schmidt, 53, of rural Windom, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at the Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers, with the Rev. Marvin Pederson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jeffers Cemetery in Jeffers. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. today at the Anderson-Schmidt-LaCanne Funeral Home in Windom, and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Monday.
Linda was born June 2, 1950 in New Ulm. She was the fourth child of six children born to John Wesley and Verona (Zamzow) Johnson. She attended grade school at St. Paul's Lutheran School and New Ulm Public High. She graduated from Cosmetology at Willmar Vo-Tech in 1981.
On Sept. 11, 1992, Linda was united in marriage to David Paul Schmidt at Jeffers Trinity Lutheran Church. For years, Linda was self-employed as a beautician. She also worked at the Windom Area Hospital until she became disabled with cardiovascular disease in 1996. Since then, her health had eventually declined. Linda was well loved by her husband David and many other relatives and friends.
Linda was a member of the Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, croqueting, cross-stitching, quilting, crafts, and collecting angel pictures and statuettes. Blessed be the memories of Linda Jeanne Schmidt.
Linda's grateful family includes her husband of eleven years David Paul Schmidt of rural Windom; one son, Robert Luckado of Germantown, Md., from a former marriage; three granddaughters, Sarah, Amanda and Jessilyn Luckado; mother Verona Johnson of New Ulm; three brothers, Richard Johnson and his wife Janell of Jeffers, David Johnson and his wife Leah of Portage, Wis., and Jerry Johnson and his wife Mary Jo of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Carol Helget and special friend, Don Haugen of Henning, and Sharon Westberg of New Ulm; eight nieces and nephews, Terry, Darrin, Jeremy, David, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Charity, and Michelle; and several other relatives and friends.
Linda is preceded in death by her father John Wesley Johnson in 1953; one stillborn son and daughter on Aug. 16 of 1970 and 1973.

Leroy E. Woodford, 93, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 at the Redwood Area Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 at First United Methodist Church In Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls, and will continue from 9:30 am until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
He is survive by his wife, Helen Woodford of Redwood Falls; children: Robert Woodford of Hastings, James Woodford of St. Paul, John Woodford of Redwood Falls, David Woodford of Redwood Falls, and Charles Woodford of Winona; sisters, Jane Rasmussen of Sleepy Eye, and Marie Jenzen of Alexandria; 23 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren
He was born Oct. 15, 1910 in Marathon, Iowa, to Ray F. and Bertha (Freeman) Woodford.

Rachael L. Kent, 34, of Eagan, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 17, 2003.
Funeral service is 10 a.m., Tuesday Oct. 21, at Apostolic Christian Church, 1390 Hwy 13 N, Mendota Hgts.
Visitations are 4-8 p.m., Monday, at 1580 Century Pt. (Yankee Doodle @ Coachman), Eagan, and 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, at the church. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
J.S. Klecatsky & Sons of Eagan (651-454-9488) handled arrangements.
She is survived by husband Darcy Kent; children, Brooke, Macey, Tanner, and Logan Kent; parents Richard and Mary Lou Schmidt of Winthrop, grandparents Elmer and Hazel Schmidt of Lafayette; brothers, Darrin (Jan), Cory (Nikki), Clint (Magdalena), and Benjamin Schmidt; sister-in-law, Amy (Gary) Walter; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Karla) and Sam (Anne) Kent; and many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Hazel Knutson.
Rachael was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
She was born Aug. 22, 1969, in New Ulm. She graduated from Winthrop High School.

Joseph G. 'Joe' Stadick, 78, of 1127 South Franklin Street in New Ulm died Sunday, October 19, 2003 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in St. George. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, and will continue from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. George Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Tuesday at the funeral home.
Joe is survived by his wife, Leona Stadick, of New Ulm; a stepdaughter, Kathleen Wallner of Frederic, Wisconsin; stepsons and stepdaughters-in- law, Gary and Helen Wallner and Leo and Jan Wallner all of New Ulm, ten stepgrandchildren; thirteen stepgreat- grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Betty Stadick of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Veronica Hacker and Magdalin Stadick and by brothers, Andrew Stadick and Ben Stadick.
Joe was born on January 18, 1925, in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County to George and Annie (Smasal) Stadick. He served in the U. S. National Guards and was called for active duty during the Korean War. On September 28, 1968, he was united in marriage to Leona (Schwartz) Wallner in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. Joe had worked at Stoltenburg Motors, Kluck Repairs, and for thirty-one years at AMPI in New Ulm. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the Cathedral of New Ulm, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council, and a member of the Seifert-Bianchi America Legion Post #132 in New Ulm. Joe and Leona loved to attend local baseball games in New Ulm where they had the only reserved seating at Johnson Field. He loved to fish, bowl on the senior bowling league, and working in his shop at his home.

Alice M. Steen, 100, of Walnut Grove, formerly of New Ulm, died Oct. 16, 2003, at the Tracy Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church south of Walnut Grove.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Interment is in the church cemetery. The Walnut Grove Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Alice Steen was a teacher in New Ulm for 31 years. She was involved in numerous organizations during her professional career, and was also very active in her church. Alice enjoyed attending many concerts in New Ulm, her bridge club, and contacts she maintained with many former students over her lifetime.
Although Alice had no children, she is lovingly missed by her sister, Olga (Ralph) Tyler; nieces, Mary Tyler and Connie (David) Helgen; nephews, Carlton (Dorothy) Steen and John Steen; and many great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Menora and Jennie Steen, Ella Fingarson, and Judy in infancy; a brother, Conrad Steen; a niece, Delores (Merle) Peterson, and a nephew, Robert Fingarson.

Emma Steffen, 93, of Lamberton, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lamberton, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Johnsonville Township.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton.
Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton is handling arrangements.
She is survived by brothers, Oscar of Walnut Grove and Louis of Alpine, Calif.
Emma Ida Louise Steffen was born May 19, 1910, in Granite Rock Township in Redwood County, to Henry and Anna (Rinderman) Steffen.

Lenard W. Wenninger, 65, of Marshall and formerly of New Ulm, died Sunday, October 19, 2003 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 24, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday and 7:30-9:30 a.m., Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra Smith of Madelia, Denise Ferguson of Springfield, Elaine "Lanie" Bukkila of Clements, Sue Rothmeier of New Ulm; sons, Robert Wenninger of New Ulm, Dan Wenninger of New Ulm, Scott Wenninger of Walnut Grove; stepdaughter Cindy Schultz of Tyler; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Stueber of St. Paul, Darlene Schmidt of New Ulm; and by a brother Melvin Wenninger of Sauk Centre.
He was born Feb. 6, 1938, in New Ulm to Frank and Sophie (Ubl) Wenninger.

Morris E. Hippert, 83, of Lafayette and formerly of the Sunset Apartments in New Ulm died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at St. Peter Community Health Care Center in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday. and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Friday.
Morris is survived by his stepsons, Dennis Mott and his wife Florence of Portland, Oregon, Dale Mott and his wife Susan of Gilbert; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Raymond Bode of Courtland, Alice and Delbert Lambrecht of New Ulm, Doris Macho of Arizona, Rosalie and Jeff Butcher of Louisville, Kentucky; a brother and sister-in-law, Waldo and Lucy Hippert of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Hildrith Hippert of Waconia, Shirley Hippert of Owatonna and Diane Hippert of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen on November 23, 1979; his second wife, Bernice on November 17, 1999; and by brothers, Raymond, Harvey, Donald, Warren, Clifford and Larry.
Morris was born December 3, 1920, in Courtland Township, Nicollet County to Lawrence J. and Elsie (Zimmerman) Hippert. He married Helen Mucha on April 22, 1955. After her death he married Bernice Adlean Mott on March 20, 1982. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm.
