Sophie M. Windhorn, 98, formerly of New Ulm and Lafayette, died Monday, November 10, 2003 at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her niece, Shirley Herzog and her husband, Tom of Alexandria, and their children; and a very special friend, Valera Hengel of Mesa, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil Windhorn on May 25, 1985; brothers, Felix and Roman Dorn; sister-in-law, Teresa (Mrs. Roman) Dorn.
Sophie was born on September 6, 1905, in New Ulm to John and Margaret (Jutz) Dorn. On July 7, 1937, she married Emil Windhorn at the Holy Trinity Parish House in New Ulm. She was a nurse at the Loretto Hospital for 15 years and worked at Herberger's for 12 years. For the last five years, she has been a resident at the Franklin Health Care Center. Sophie was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Dianne Lindberg, age 48 of Chaska, MN, passed away November 11, 2003.
Dianne was born June 11, 1955 to Wendell and Eileen (DeBlieck) Trei in Ft. Hood, TX. Most of her youth was spent in Tracy, MN, where she graduated from High School. Marvin Lindberg Jr. and Dianne were married July 28, 1973.
Dianne is preceded in death by her brother, Jon, and brother-in-law, Gregory DeLanghe.
Dianne is survived by sons, Zachariah and Jacob; granddaughter, Keelan; parents, Wendell and Eileen Trei; sisters, Debra (Mrs. Bill) Post, Denise (Mrs. John) DeLanghe, Donna DeLanghe; brothers, James, Jeffrey, Michael (Sonja), Marc (Pia); grandmother, Ethel (Edwards) DeBlieck; 24 nieces and nephews.
Dianne was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Much of her life was spent sharing her faith in God with others. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2003, Grace Church, 9301 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie, MN, at 11 a.m. A sharing of Dianne's Life will be held Thursday, November 13, 2003, Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie, MN, from 7-8:30 p.m.

Edwin E. Streich, 94 of Comfrey died Tuesday Nov.11, 2003 at St. John Lutheran in Springfield.
Services wil be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov.14 at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield, with burial at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Comfrey.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey, and continues for one hour prior to services at the Chapel on Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia (Millie) Streich of Comfrey; a daughter, Joyce Schubert of El Segundo, Calif.; a brother, Donald Streich of Tennessee; and sisters, Elsie Schiller and Eleanor Graff of Springfield.
Edwin Emil Streich, the son of Herman and Ida Marie (Engel) Streich, was born Sept. 1, 1909 in Brown County.

Irene M. Doerr, 90, of Winthrop, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at her home in Winthrop.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in rural Brownton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Friday and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., Saturday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Irene is survived by daughters, Eldonna Doerr of New Brighton, and Avis Klukas of Gaylord; son Dale Doerr of Andover; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother Marlin Frauendienst of Cheyenne, Wyo.
Irene Minnie (Frauendienst) Doerr was born Oct. 2, 1913, to Herman and Martha (Gaulke) Frauendienst in Penn Township, McLeod County.

Bruce Rieke, 52, formerly of Morgan, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at his home.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11 in Glenburn, N.D. He was buried in Minot, N.D.
He is survived by his wife Eileen; sons, Dustin and Casey; daughter Misti; mother Lucille Lammers Rieke Runck of Fairfax; sisters, Linda Turbes of Fairfax, Rebecca Sell of Morgan, and Katherine Seifert of Morgan; brothers, Alan of Minneapolis and Michael of Morgan.
He was born March 13, 1951 in Sleepy Eye to Lester and Lucille (Lammers) Rieke. He served 23 years with the U.S. Air Force including Operation Desert Storm.

Arlene Wetter, 81, of 907 Douglas, Lamberton, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, at United Methodist Church in Lamberton, with burial in Lamberton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Monday, and 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Arlene is survived by her husband Milo of Lamberton; children, Galen Wetter of Lamberton, Janet Owen of Plymouth, Marilyn King of Mounds View, and Don Wetter of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Arlene was born Sept. 14, 1922, to George and Meta (Jaeger) Coulter in Waterbury Township, Redwood County.

Cecelia Tautges, 95, of Gibbon died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2003 at St. Willibrord Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and 7:30-10 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. The Council of Catholic Women will pray the roasary at 5:00 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Cecelia is survived by her husband, John Tautges of Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Lloyd Perry of New Ulm, and Genevieve and Melvin Neyers of Gibbon; sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Connie Tautges of Gibbon, and Larry and Marlene Tautges of Albert Lea; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; three step great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Agnes Gitter of Gibbon, and Marie Gitter of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Caroline Grosman, Angela Borth-Zangel, Eleanor Berle, Monica Portner, and Marie Guggisberg; brothers, Benjamin Gitter, Joseph Gitter, John Gitter, and Hilary Gitter; and one grandson, Peter Tautges.
Cecelia was born on November 5, 1908 in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to Joseph and Mary (Schwab) Gitter. She attended school in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. On June 15, 1936, she married John Tautges at St. George Catholic Church in rural New Ulm.
Cecelia worked side by side with her husband John farming and raising the family she loved and supported so much. In her later years, her and John spent their time visiting many friends and supporting residents in the local nursing homes and hospitals.
She was a member of St. Willibrord Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women, and the St. Elizabeth Society.

Jody Ann Montgomery - Funeral services for Renee Retzlaff' s sister Jody Ann Montgomery will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 18th, 2003, at First Baptist Church, Albert Lea, MN. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, following the service. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday November 17th, at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, First Baptist Church or Crossroads Community Hospice in Albert Lea.

Chris Johnson, age 88, of Buffalo Lake, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2003, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Funeral service will be Monday, November 17, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. Internment in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Niels Christian (Chris) Johnson was born June 22, 1915 in Sleepy Eye, Brown County, Minnesota, the son of Rudolph and Sarah (Hansen) Johnson. He was baptized in infancy, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in June of 1934. Chris grew up in the Sleepy Eye area where he attended Rural School.
On April 16, 1942, Chris was united in marriage to Violet Stage at the Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, Minnesota. The couple lived in Sleepy Eye for five years before moving to a farm near Morgan. In December of 1956, they moved to Hector where they lived for three years. Chris and Violet then lived and farmed on a farm to the north between Buffalo Lake and Hector. Chris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. He loved farming, and be enjoyed going fishing. He and Violet made many trips to California to visit Violet's family.
Chris is survived by his wife Violet Johnson of Glencoe; children: Edna Lundberg and her husband Quentin of North Mankato, Alfred Johnson of Pemberton, Willard "Willie" Johnson and his wife Carla of Sleepy Eye, Donna Cross and her husband John of Plymouth and Dennis Johnson and his wife Darlene of Hector; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Lester Johnson and his wife Marian of Sleepy Eye; sister Eleanor Buche of Sleepy Eye; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ervin Johnson, sisters Verna Groff, Mary Johnson, Verdina Johnson, Mathilda Johnson, and Hazel Johnson, brother Wilbert Johnson, and by three brothers in infancy.

James Arthur Lehrer, 73, of Walker, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Woodrest Care Center in Walker.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker. Burial is Wednesday, Nov. 19, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Willmar.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 - 6 p.m. at Thomas-Dennis Funeral Home in Walker and continues one hour before the service at the church.
He is survived by stepsons, Stanley Sellner of Centennial, Colo., and Bill Sellner of Byron; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Clem Lehrer of Bigfork; sisters, Lois Bielen of Rochester, Barbara Jorgensen of Marshall and Rosemary Lehrer of El Paso, Texas.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1929, in Springfield, to Arthur and Georgia Lehrer.

Marlene 'Rusty' Rewitzer, 63, of 300 South Front Street in New Ulm died Saturday, November 15, 2003, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
"Rusty" is survived by her husband, LeRoy Rewitzer of New Ulm; mother, Ruth E. Clyne of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and J.J. Howard of Phoenix, Arizona; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger "Herm" and Nancy Block of Rolla, Missouri, Ricky "Rick" and Ann Block of Chanhassen, Randy Block of New Ulm; six grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary L. "Eightball" Hogen, Connie "Chico" and James "Chick" Heck, Diane "Termite" and Richard Murphy, Linda Clyne and her special friend, John Schoof, Monica "Wiener" and Danny Gieseke, Julie "Tutsie" and Pat Schugel all of New Ulm, Roxanne "Tuni" and Harlan Schwecke of Gibbon; brother and sister-in-law, Randy "Sam" and Jo Clyne of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her father, Martin L. Clyne in 1960; her first husband, James H. Block in 1972; and a nephew, Danny J. Clyne in 1980.
She was born on June 5, 1940, in New Ulm to Martin L. and Ruth E. (Guendner) Clyne. She married James H. Block on March 29, 1960, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. After the death of her first husband she later married LeRoy Rewitzer on May 17, 1980, in New Ulm. She had worked as a telephone operator in New Ulm, and had worked at the New Ulm Greenhouse and P.G.I. Mailers in New Ulm. She enjoyed birdwatching, mushroom hunting, fishing, deer hunting, embroidery and her dogs. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Anna 'Fanny' Cuff, 89, of Fairfax, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 8:30-10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Arrangements are being handled by the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Jane Bakken of Fairfax, and Judy Goodwin of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Jerry Cuff of Fairfax; and Jim Cuff of Fairfax; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was born March 15, 1914, in Fairfax, Minn., to Alois and Mary (Hassel) Miller.

Ellsworth H. Hahn, 76, of Gaylord, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral service is 11 a.m, Thursday, Nov. 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Wednesday; and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Thursday at Egesdal Funeral Home; and continues one hour before services at the church.
He is survived by wife Donna Hahn of Gaylord; sons, Larry E. hahn of Kasota; and three grandchildren.
He was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Dryden Township, rural Gaylord, to Martin and Alma (Sylvester) Hahn.

Alila C. (Wiechmann) Kionka, 79, of Watertown, Wis., formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at the Watertown Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Watertown, Wis., with burial at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
Visitation will be at the church from 3 p.m. to the time of the service. Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown is handling arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Thomas Kionka of Milwaukee Wis., Susan Haefemeyer of Waupun, Wis., Kathy Thurow of Fond du Lac, Wis., Mary Leonard of Madison, Wis., Daniel Kionka of San Jose, Calif., Patty Jastrow of Eagle River, Wis., and James Kionka of Oconomowoc, Wis.; sister Joyce Dallmann of San Diego, Calif.; brother Wayne Wiechmann of Milwaukee; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Gwinner, N.D., to Walter and Cecelia (Berndt) Wiechmann.

Darlene Markgraf, 65, of Buffalo Lake, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at her home.
Funeral service is 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Hughes Funeral Home in Hectof handled arrangements.
She is survived by her husband LeRoy Markgraf of Buffalo Lake; children: Brenda Broking of Hector, Curtis Markgraf of Brownton, and Dennis Markgraf of Buffalo Lake; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Herb Hennessey of Glencoe, Delbert Hennessey of Shoreview, Bill Renstrom of Aitkin, Gene Hennessey of Winsted, Lee Hennessey of Brownton, Jerry Hennessey of Winthrop, and Dean Hennessey of Minnetrista; and sisters, Lorraine Anderson of Dassel, Marlys Rosenau of New Ulm, and Donna Stueber of Hutchinson.
She was born July 25, 1938, on a farm near Cosmos, Meeker County, Minn., to Raymond and Irene (Hopmann) Hennessey.

Herman G. Pongratz, 94, of Lake Crystal and formerly of rural New Ulm died Sunday, November 16, 2003, at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center in Lake Crystal.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m., Tuesday and 7:30 - 9 a.m., Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one prior to the time of service at church on Wednesday.
Herman is survived by his sisters, Bertha Nelson and Hulda Schmidt, both of Glencoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Otto, Albert, and Henry Pongratz; a brother, Joseph Pongratz in infancy; and by sisters, Anna Warrell, Minnie Pongratz and Adelhied Johns.
Herman was born January 8, 1909, in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, to Joseph and Anna (Drill) Pongratz. Herman worked as a farm hand at various farms in Nicollet County. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
