Betty Pankonin, 81, of Sanborn, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Sanborn.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Red Rock UM Church.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
She was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Flandreau, S.D., to Arthur and Laura (Steinke) Kansanback.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, her children, Laureen Raymond of River Falls, Wis.; Russell Pankonin of Sanborn; Janice Dow of Seal Beach, Calif.; Judith Williams of Brookings, Ore.; Roxanne Fisher of Westminster, Calif.; Willard Pankonin of Lakeville; Dr Vincent Pankonin of Perham; 29 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers Donald Kansanback of Perry, Ga., and Arnold Kansanback of Windom.

Walter Roepke, 66, of Litchfield, formerly of Stewart, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Litchfield.
A celebration of his life is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fernando, Round Grove Township, McLeod County, with burial was in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1937, to Ervin and Clara (Kuehn) Roepke, in Round Grove Township (rural Stewart), McLeod County. He served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1958, with active duty for six months at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristine Ebent Waconia, and Kimberly Norbie of Edina; four grandchildren; brothers, Lyle Roepke of Stewart and Chuck Roepke of Winthrop; and sister, Val Uecker of Brownton.

Charles "Chuck" Doeltz, 64, of Edina, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, in Edina.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye
He was born July 29, 1939, to Karl and Eileen Doeltz. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Enterprise.
He is survived by his sister, Betsy Kozial of Bloomingdale, Ill.

Geraldine (Wilhelm) Abbas, 74, of 2201 N. Broadway in New Ulm, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in New Ulm as a result of injuries she sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the First Lutheran Church Cemetery in Winthrop.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Tuesday and 7:30 - 8:30, Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Wednesday.
Geraldine is survived by her sons, Bruce Wilhelm, Tom Wilhelm, of Winthrop, Terry Wilhelm of New Ulm; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence Scharmer of Buffalo Lake and Dorothy Dirkswager of Maple Lake.
She was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Hector to John and Isabella (Jannicke) Bonine.

Marguerite Plaisance, 90, of 1523 Boettger Road, New Ulm, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with Fr. Edward Ardolf celebrating the mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 7 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm.
Marguerite Bernice Brudelie, the daughter of Olaf and Anna (Pederson) Brudelie, was born December 4, 1912 in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm and attended Lake Hanska District 67 School. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1932. She married Vincent Ringnell on December 14, 1933 at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church parsonage. After marriage, they lived in Hanska where Marguerite worked in area businesses. She was an excellent seamstress. Marguerite served as Mayor of Hanska in 1958-59. After moving to New Ulm in 1965, she worked for 3M in New Ulm until her retirement in 1977. Vincent died June 14, 1970. She was united in marriage to Irvin Plaisance on July 29, 1972, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Together they enjoyed their combined families, traveling, and gardening. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, a past member of Twist N' Twirl Square Dancers, and the first President of the Hanska VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Irvin, a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia; sons, Leslie Ringnell and his wife Everal of New Ulm, Douglas Ringnell and his wife Virginia of Sherburn; daughter, Jean Horner and her husband Jerome "Jerry" of Harlingen, Texas; stepchildren, Pam Fischer and her husband John, Patti Schuett and her husband Paul, Donald Plaisance and his wife Sharon, Jack Plaisance and his wife Kathy, Jim Plaisance and his wife Vicki; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great -great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Brudelie and his wife Alice, Warren Brudelie and his wife Shirley all of Hanska; sister, Delphine Ohland of Wausau, Wis.; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Orville and Sherman Brudelie; sisters, Catherine Trammell, Arline Larson, Evangeline Brudelie, and Gloria Ohland; grandson, Jeff Horner; a great-grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Mabel Stibal, 85, of Silver Lake died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
Mabel was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Milford Township, Brown County, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Metzen Gulden.
She graduated in 1937 from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm.
On Oct. 2, 1936, Mabel C. Gulden and Raymond E. Stibal were joined in holy marriage at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. God blessed their marriage with a daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Stibal engaged in dairy farming in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County.
She loved music and especially old time German songs. She formerly played piano with the Gerry Dostal Band.
Mabel was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake and also belonged to its CCW.
Mabel is survived by loving daughter Denise M. Stibal of Shoreview; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Irene and George Nemec of Silver Lake; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Stibal on July 10, 2003; parents Arthur and Mary Gulden; two infant sisters, Arlene and Mildred; and by a brother, Alex Gulden.
A celebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Mabel Stibal was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Father Robert J. Mraz and Father Martin F. Rath, OSB, were the Concelebrants.
Val Shamla as the organist and Sara Swanlund was the soloist for Mass.
Friends called 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. A CCW Rosary was recited at 5:30 p.m. and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Alan Kastanek and Charlotte Kastanek.
Casket Bearers were Steve Nemec, Steve Anderson, Don Navratil, John Kastanek, Harry Stibal and Bernard Gulden.
The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.

Dean Ziebarth, 74, of St. James, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at St. James Health Services Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A rosary and prayer service begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home, St. James.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; son Jeffrey of Minnetrista; daughters, Deanette Schmidt of Oakdale and Mary Sams of Orono; and nine grandchildren.
He was born April 25, 1929, to Wilbur and Elsie (Claussen) Ziebarth in Flandrau, S.D.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society and the Arthritis Foundation are preferred.

Mabel Biebl, 76, of 916 North Jefferson Street in New Ulm died Sunday, November 23, 2003 at the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Richter celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral. There will be a rosary by the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both Friday at the Funeral Home.
Mabel is survived by her husband, Lavern Biebl of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Thompson of Annapolis, Maryland, Nancy and Scott Dickey of Apple Valley, Patricia and Steve Garske of Farmington, and Carol Biebl of Phoenix, Arizona; sons and daughters-in-law, George and Dawn Biebl of Sidney, Montana, Joseph and Joan Biebl of Boise, Idaho, David Biebl of New Ulm, and James and Andra Biebl of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Risa and Alex Thompson, Erin and Kyle Biebl, Andrea Biebl, Audi, Roma, and Tess Dickey, Vanessa and Hannah Garske, and Garret Biebl; brothers and sisters-in-law, Norbert and Middy Seifert of Portland, Oregon, and James and Billie Seifert of Mankato.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Joan) Murray.
She was born November 2, 1927 in New Ulm to Norbert and Carrie (Haas) Seifert. She attended Holy Trinity Parochial Grade School and High School in New Ulm, graduating in 1945. She grew up in the New Ulm area and moved to Minneapolis in 1947 where she worked for Sears and the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce as a secretary.
On August 13, 1951, she married Lavern Biebl at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. She worked at Randall's Cafe as a cashier for eighteen years. She retired in 1972. Mabel was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm, The Catholic Daughters, Christian Mother's Society, and The Friends of MRCI.
Her first priority was her family, to whom she unselfishly gave of her time and talents. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to The American Cancer Society or New Ulm Area Catholic Schools.

Ione E. Bleick, 89, of Fairfax, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County.
Visitation will be 5-7:30 p.m. today at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, and will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Friday.
Ione is survived by her husband Stanford Bleick; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister Marcella Mayfield of El Paso, Texas.
Ione Ethelyn (Ruud) Bleick was born March 18, 1914, to Carl and Anna (Dale) Ruud.

Rosalyn D. Kratz, 83, of Springfield died Monday, Nov. 24 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral service will be Sat., Nov. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial at Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Comfrey.
Visitation is Friday, Nov. 28 from 4-8 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 29 from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and continues for one hour prior to services at the church.

Rosalyn was born January 26, 1920 in Burnstown Township, Brown County, the youngest of 10 children to Louis and Augusta (Kieper) Bloemke. She was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield and was a graduate of Springfield High School. Rosalyn was married to Floyd Kratz on June 15, 1939. Following marriage they farmed in Bashaw
Township until retiring and moving to Springfield in 1984. She was very active in church activities serving as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, the church choir, Rebecca Circle and the Ladies Aid. Rosalyn was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bridge, walking, winters in Arizona and especially enjoyed her family.
Rosalyn Dorothy Kratz died Monday, November 24, 2003 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato at the age of 83 years.
Survivors include husband - Floyd of Springfield; daughter - Pamela Kratz and fiance Gerold Nelson of Shoreview, MN; sons - Thomas and wife Sandra Kratz of Burnsville, MN, Richard and wife Rosalyn Kratz of Decorah, IA, Daniel and wife Ellen Kratz of North Oaks, MN, William and wife Lori Kratz of Ludington, MI; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister - Louise Fecker of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers - Reinhold, Arthur, Louis, Ervin and Robert; and sisters - Elsie Kaehler, Lydia Plath, and a baby sister in infancy.
Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association and Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospice.

Marlowe Skarp, 95, of Springfield died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Boyd, Lac qui Parle County.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service Saturday at St. John Lutheran Home. Arrangements are with Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield.
Marlowe is survived by her sons, Tom of Oaks, N.D., Allen of Coleraine, David of Battle Creek, Mich., Jim of Spring Lake Park, and Dan of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Viola and Cordella, both of Springfield.
Marlowe Anne Marie Skarp was born Jan. 7, 1908, to Henry and Emma Moeller in Marming, Iowa.

Sara Luzius, 38, formerly of St. George died Monday, November 24, 2003 in Plano, Texas of natural causes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003 at St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Sara is survived by her parents, Tom & Doris Trautmiller of St. George; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Robert Iverson of New Ulm, Dawn and Brad Becker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers and sister-in-law, Daryl and Sue Trautmiller of St. George, Michael Trautmiller of New Ulm; nieces and nephews, Megan, Hailey and Benjamin Trautmiller, Tommy Polich, Antony, Jake, and Isaac Becker, and Kameron Iverson; grandmother, Ann Trautmiller of New Ulm; former husband and long time friend, Wayne Luzias of Dallas, Texas; and fiance, Henry "Bud" Lindemuth and his daughter, Hannah of Watauga, Texas She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alfred and Marie Ranweiler, and George Trautmiller.
She was born on October 15, 1965 in New Ulm to Tom and Doris (Ranweiler) Trautmiller. She attended New Ulm Public Schools and graduated from New Ulm High School. She attended and graduated from the Willmar Technical College in Willmar. On October 13, 1990 she married Wayne Luzius at St. George Catholic Church. After marriage they lived in Plano, Texas. She was employed by Arcanum Construction Services as a manager and site overseer at various construction sites in the Dallas, Texas area. She enjoyed motorcycling, shopping, and her dog, Ryley and she belonged to the Sabre Motorcycling Club and the Dallas Chapter of Women In Management (W.I.M.)

Darlene Diane Kiecker, 62, of Burnsville died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 29, 2003, at 1:30 PM, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, Renville County, Minnesota. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Saturday. Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling the arrangements.
Darlene is survived by her sisters, Jean Fankhauser of Scottsdale, AZ, Janice Kiecker of Red Wing, Geraldine Kiecker of Edgeley, ND and Patricia Young of Clear Lake; and brothers, Marvin Kiecker of Fairfax, and Glenn Kiecker of Minneapolis.
Darlene Diane Kiecker was born Feb. 24, 1941 to Oscar and Alice Vilora (Hodson) Kiecker.

Lois Mathison, 73, of Hector, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Hector.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church in Hector, with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour prior to the service at the church Monday.

Kathy (Herschman/Hillman) Pavick - A graveside service for Kathy (Herschman/Hillman) Pavick will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Moltke Township. Friends and family are welcomed to attend a gathering 2 - 6 p.m. at the Church of St. Willibrord's Social Hall in Gibbon.
