Services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2, at St, James Catholic Church in St. James. Burial with military honors will be in in Calvary Cemetery in St James.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the St James Catholic Church. Christian Mothers rosary is 4 p.m., and parish prayer service is 4:30 p.m. at the church. Visitation continues 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Pease Funeral Home in St, James.
He is survived by his wife Donna; children, Tom Schmidt, Beth Stradtman, Nonnie Hanson. Laura Coleman, Lisa Collier, John Schmidt, Paul Schmidt, all of St James, Mike Schmidt of Jeffers, Patty Jessop, Anna Marie both of Owatonna, Katherine Frisch of Madelia and Teresa Kolstad of Mankato; 39 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Bradley of St James; and sister Margaret Ann Goeser of St James.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1928, in St James to Herman and Margaret (Leonard) Schmidt.
Shirley Stark, 71, of Buffalo Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at her home in Buffalo Lake, from complications of diabetes.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and will continue one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Delas Stark of Buffalo Lake; sons, David Stark of Buffalo Lake, Brian Stark of Hutchinson, Allen Stark of Buffalo Lake, M Harlen Stark of Hutchinson; daughters, Gloriann Stark of Eden Prairie, and LaVonne Stark of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and sister, Mary Lou Otto of Winthrop.
She was born July 20, 1932, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to Martin and Anna (Pagel) Becke.
Mabel Stibal 85, of Silver Lake died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
Mabel was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Milford Township, Brown County, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Metzen Gulden.
She graduated in 1937 from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm.
On Oct. 2, 1956, Mabel C. Gulden and Raymond E. Stibal were joined in holy marriage at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. God blessed their marriage with a daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Stibal engaged in dairy farming in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County.
She loved music and especially old time German songs. She formerly played piano with the Jerry Dostal Band.
Mabel was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake and also belonged to its CCW.
Mabel is survived by loving daughter Denise M. Stibal of Shoreview; sister-in-law Irene Nemec of Silver Lake; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Stibal on July 10, 2003; parents Arthur and Mary Gulden; two infant sisters, Arlene and Mildred; and by a brother, Alex Gulden.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mabel Stibal was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
Father Robert J. Mraz was the celebrant.
Val Shamla was the organist and Sara Swanlund was the soloist for Mass.
Friends called 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake. A CCW Rosary was recited at 5:30 p.m. and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Alan Kastanek and Charlotte Kastanek.
Casket Bearers were Steve Nemec, Steve Anderson, Don Navratil, John Kastanek, Harry Stibal and Bernard Gulden.
The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake served the family.
Miriam Wolf, 35, of Stewart, died Thursday, Nov 27, 2003, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Alexander, N.D.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart, and continues for one hour before the service on Tuesday.
Miriam is survived by her children Elizabeth Hansen, Mathew Hansen, Alexis Hansen, and Taylor Hansen of Stewart; parents Rodney and Verna Wolf of Killdeer, N.D.; grandmothers Theresa Ellingson of Killdeer, N.D., and Esther Wolf of Hazen, N.D.; brothers: Lee Wolf, . serving in Basra, Iraq, and Verne Wolf, now serving in Balaad, Iraq; and sister Jane Passos of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Donald E. Berhow, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Truman, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Funeral service is 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield with burial in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Thursday, at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel.

He was born on Aug. 17, 1921, in Burt, Iowa, to Martin and Lena (Espe) Berhow.
Margaret Carmichael, 89, of Enterprise, Ala., died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Bay Crest Nursing Home in Panama City, Fla.
Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at First Methodist Church in Enterprise, with burial held at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise.
Margaret was born Dec. 21, 1913, to Sam L. and Mammie Brunson in Enterprise. She attended First Methodist Church in Enterprise. Margaret was a member of Panama City Country Club for years, where she helped form the Women's Golf Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener and loved to play golf and fish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lewis Carmichael; and grandson, Alan Spaeth.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Bob Edwards of Panama City, Fla., Gertrude and Jerry Saulmon of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., and Margaret and Al Spaeth of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Mack and Beth Carmichael of Fultondale, Ala., and Sam and Julia Carmichael of Gainesville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Wilbert Steinke, 86, of Le Sueur, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Gardenview Nursing Home in Le Sueur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Elna; and brothers, Reuben and Harold Steinke.
He was born on July 6, 1917, to Wilhelm and Amanda (Tarno) Steinke in Alton Township, near Janesville, Minn. He married Elna E. Krueger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord on April 20, 1941. He married Irma Bergman on June 19, 1993 in Janesville.
Gladys Ovitt, 88, of Buffalo Lake, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Funeral service is 9:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake with burial in Fort Snelling National cemetery.
Visitation is 4:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector; and continues one hour before the service Friday at the church.
Charlotte Ridler, 91, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. A private family burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.

LuMar Johnson, 69, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, with Rev. Garry Grunzke officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by Lafayette American Legion Post No. 300 will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
LuMar Beck Johnson, the son of Louis and Dora (Beck) Johnson, was born May 29, 1934, in Lafayette. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. LuMar entered the U.S. Army in 1954, serving in Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1956, he returned home where he continued to farm with his family.
LuMar was united in marriage to Bette Nelson on June 29, 1958, at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Together they farmed in Cornish Township near Lafayette. He retired in 1993. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, where he served on the church council. LuMar was a member of Lafayette American Legion Post No. 300, the Farmers Union, and he loved auctions. He became a resident of the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in June 1999.
Survivors include his wife Bette of Lafayette; daughter Tami Stadtherr and her husband Greg of Gibbon; sons, Scott Johnson and his wife Renee of North Mankato, Steven Johnson and his wife Koby of Owatonna, James Johnson and his wife Krystal of St. Paul, and Erik Johnson of Bloomington; grandchildren, Tina and Tony Stadtherr, and Samantha, Megan, Dominic, Klara and Bennett Johnson; sisters, Mayonne Weise and her husband Raymond of New Ulm, and Marlys Tappe and her husband Carl of Hendersonville, N.C.; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, LuMar was preceded in death by his grandson, Maxwell LuMar Johnson; and sister, Patricia Johnson.
Charles Lingenhag passed away Nov. 30, 2003, at his home in San Antonio, at the age of 82.
Mr. Lingenhag was born in New Ulm, on Dec. 25, 1920, to the late Charles W. Lingenhag, Sr. and Eva LaPlant Lingenhag.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 27 years, including tours in Korea and Alaska during WWII. SFC Lingenhag retired from the Army in 1968 and continued to serve in the Civil Service with the Signal Corps at Fort Sam Houston for another 16 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Eunice LaPlante Lingenhag; daughter, Marilynn Schiefelbein and husband David of Copperas Cove, Texas; daughter, Beverly Ellison and husband Jim of Floresville, Texas; daughter, Linda Lingenhag; son, James W. Lingenhag and wife Judy; daughter, Cheryl Clark and husband VanBuren, all of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Phyllis Tripp, Columbia, Mo., Pat Schmidt, New Ulm, and Blanche Bushard, Gibbon; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James A. Lingenhag; and sister, Alice Torkelson.
Charlie was a member of V.F.W. Post 8541 and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He loved to travel and cook for his friends and family. He will be remembered by many as a gentle man who had a smile for everyone he met.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in San Antonio, with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to charity of one's choice.
