Gloria Femrite, 56, of 1610 Sunset Ave. in New Ulm died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with Pastor Garry Grunzke officiating.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Audra Femrite and her friend, Dan Brenke of St. Peter, Melanie Femrite and her friend, Gordy Capaul of LeCenter; a son, Lee Femrite of Green Isle; mother, Arlene Ebilsisor of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brita, Hannah, and Lily; a sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Myron Rich of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Mathiowetz; and by her stepfather, Edward Ebilsisor.
Gloria was born March 28, 1947, in Sleepy Eye to Leonard and Marie Arlene (Evers) Mathiowetz.

Mildred E. Fiebiger, 82, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh, Wis.
Services are 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at Faith Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac and at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye. Burial will follow in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m., Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Fon du Lac and Monday at the church in Sleepy Eye two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. John's, Trinity or Faith Lutheran church and school.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by two daughters, Arleen Groth of Neenah and Sharon Kemnitz of Eldorado; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Melva Koch of Lamberton.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1921, to Henry and Dehlia Vollmer Meinert in Brown County, Minnesota.

Emma Siemers, 96, of Gibbon, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at the Lakeview Home in Gaylord.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Emma is survived by a step-daughter, Judith Kent and her husband, LuVerne of Gibbon; a stepson, Ronald Siemers and his wife, Dorothy of Rochester; ten stepgrandchildren; eighteen step great-grandchildren; five step great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Dora and Burnell Severin of Gaylord, Leona Rose of Gaylord, Marie Boeder of Gibbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil Siemers on January 9, 1984; a sister, Gertrude Sievert; a brother, Fred Sievert; brothers-in-law, Reinhart Rose and Edwin Boeder; foster brothers, Alfred, John, and August Micke; three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild in infancy.
Emma was born on December 17, 1907 in Moltke Township, Sibley County to Fred and Laura (Vorwerk) Sievert. On October 4, 1958, she married Emil Siemers in Moltke Township. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, baking, and canning. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the church Ladies Guild, and the Gibbon Senior Citizens.

Grace Stapleton, 89, of New Ulm, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Rev. Henry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services at the church. Orient Chapter #60 Order of the Eastern Star service will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Grace Lena Theide, the daughter of Ernest and Adeline (Lipp) Theide, was born April 8, 1914, in the home in which she has spent her entire life. She attended New Ulm public schools and after graduating from New Ulm High School in 1932, she worked for the former LaMode Dress Shop. In 1935, Grace began working for William H. Dempsey as his secretary. Following his death in 1964, she continued to work for the firm until retiring in 1998. She married D.B. "Barney" Stapleton April 7, 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm. Following her husband's death in 1994, she continued to make her home in New Ulm where she was an active member of the United Church of Christ. Grace was a member of Orient Chapter #60 Order of the Eastern Star since 1955, having served in many offices numerous times, including Worthy Matron ten times. She was a member of the Past Matron's Club, Minnesota Valley Area Past Matron's Club, the New Ulm Shrine Auxiliary, Junior Pioneers, and Turner Ladies.
Survivors include her son, Michael Jay Stapleton of Delano; granddaughters, Hanna Beth Stapleton of Brookings, SD, Haley Marie Sylvester of Appleton, WI; and her honorary daughter, Leslie Pitt Schneider of Minneapolis.

Ruth D. Gorden, age 85 of Tracy, MN, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at the Tracy Nursing Home in Tracy.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 13, 2004, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy. Interment will be at the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Ruth Dorthea Gorden was born June 4, 1918, to John and Otelia (Bartz) Werner in Stewartville, MN. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and in 1933 she was confirmed and became a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. Ruth attended Tracy Public Schools and graduated from Tracy High School in 1936. After high school she attended Bethany Jr. College in Mankato, MN, majoring in business. Ruth then returned to Tracy and worked for Tracy Produce as a bookkeeper.
In 1942 Ruth married Marvin Gorden at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. After her husband's tour of duty in WWII, they made their home on a farm south of Tracy in Holly Township. They farmed for 35 years and in 1980, they moved into their home on Long Green Lane in Tracy.
Ruth was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy and very active in its women's organizations, holding various offices over the years. Ruth has also been a 4-H leader and a member of the Tracy Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and passed this love, knowledge and her plants on to her family and friends. Community projects and wonderful friendships resulted from her long involvement In Tracy's Garden Club. For over 50 years Ruth loved her card clubs starting with one bridge club while on the farm and increasing to several clubs and many dear friends. Travel was another great enjoyment for her and her husband. They visited many of the bases where Marvin had been stationed and many trips all over the country to 57th Bomber Wing reunions. They vacationed in California and Texas and took many trips with the Tracy Prime Timers Club. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and traveling to visit them was a priority. Until 2000 all of these trips had been by land, however, in that year, Ruth and Janice flew to Amsterdam, met with some friends and took a ship touring the Balkan countries, highlighted by Norway and Russia. Other activities Ruth has enjoyed are square dancing, bowling, crafts, crossword puzzles, Senior Center activities and volunteering.
In February of 2003, she became a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home and on Monday, February 9, 2004, Ruth died there at the age of 85.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Janice (Dave) McClellan of New Ulm, MN: three grandchildren, Jason (Trish), Phil (Julie) and Nate (Kris); three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Shane and Kaylee; one sister, Delores of Sacramento, CA; one brother, Don of Red Bluff, CA; one sister-in-law, Vi Werner of Minneota, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband Marvin; two brothers, Wayne and Bud; and one brother-in-law, Harold Drover, preceded her in death.
Ruth was a fun-loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be greatly missed.

Norris Knutson, 92, of Walnut Creek, CA, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Rossmore Care Center in Walnut Creek.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004 at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Rev. Henry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Norris Olaf Knutson, the son of Esther (Engdahl) and Andrew Knutson was born February 7, 1911 in Nicollet, MN and graduated from Mankato Commercial College in 1935. Working as an accountant in the New Ulm area, he met and married the love of his life, Adeline Roeder, on April 10, 1937. In 1942 they moved to San Diego where Norris worked as a time keeper for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation during the war. In 1946 they moved to the Bay Area where Norris was a partner and accountant for Break Speciality and Equipment Company until retirement. Norris and Adeline moved to Danville in 1950 where he lived the past 54 years. In addition to working full-time, Norris was an active member in many community organizations, Community Presbyterian Church of Danville, CPC Prime Time Group, and Danville Senior Citizens Club. Adeline and Norris shared a love of family, camping, dogs and birds. They were inseparable until Adeline's death in 2000. Norris will be remembered with loving hearts as a caring and gentle giant who was always willing to help others. He was a devoted husband, protective brother, kind and giving uncle, and steadfast friend. He will be missed by all who knew him, but surely not forgotten.
Immediate survivors are sisters Marion Mohlin and Edna Stephenson of Ogden, UT, Cora Rodning of St. Peter, MN; brother Don Knutson of St. Louis Park, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, goddaughters and cousins.
Memorials are preferred to Prime Time Senior Group or the United Church of Christ, New Ulm.

Darlene Pingeon, 64, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Feb. 9, 2004, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Funeral service is 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton.
Visitation is 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday at the church.
She was born Aug. 30, 1939, in Minneapolis, to William and Alma (Pfarr) Geer.
Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton.

Melvina Wilson, 97, of Irvine, Calif., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004. She was the wife of M. Lee Wilson, who was pastor at First United Methodist Church in New Ulm from 1947 to 1954.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Tustin, Calif.
She is survived by daughters, Beverly Palmer and Mary Lee Turner; eight grandchildren, and 18 great0grandchildren.
She was born Sept. 5, 1906, in Akeley, Minn.

Josephine (Jo) Bianchi McGraw, 90, formerly of New Ulm, died Feb. 7, 2004, at a nursing home in Washington state.
She is survived by sister Mary Louise Torpey; many nieces and nephews.
She was born July 1, 1913, to Joseph and Caroline (Eibner) Bianchi in New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by brother Willibald Bianchi; and sisters, Magdalene Marti, and Germayne McKethan.

Steven J. Neperman, 52, of Lamberton, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton. Interment will be in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
He is survived by his son Chris of Sanborn; his parents, Darold and Norma Neperman of Lamberton; a granddaughter; brothers and a sister, Pat Simonson of Sanborn, Terry Neperman of Lamberton and Tom Neperman of Lamberton.
Steven John Neperman was born May 30, 1951, in Springfield to Darold and Norma (Dose) Neperman.

Fae Porisch, 81, of McGregor, formerly of the Gibbon area, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kimball
Township, near Alpha, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Fae Elizabeth Soehren, the daughter of Daniel and Paulina (Jepsen) Soehren, was born June 11, 1922, in the family home in Windom. She was baptized and confirmed on May 10, 1936, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. As a child, she attended rural District 67 school and graduated from Windom High School in 1939. Fae received her teacher training at the former Mankato Normal School and taught in country schools and in Chandler for a few years.
She was united in marriage to Rev. Paul Porisch Oct. 6, 1946, in Windom. They made their home in Slayton, the McGregor area, Wheaton, and Gibbon, where her husband served as pastor. Fae was active in all parishes, serving in LWML as a district and state officer, VBS and Sunday School teacher, AAL, Cradle Roll, "Do Day", church choirs, and preparing banners and bulletin boards. She returned to college, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees in Early Childhood Education from Mankato State College. She was a teacher at St. Peter's Lutheran School near Gibbon and taught kindergarten at Gibbon Elementary School. She began the Aitkin County Adult Literacy Program. Fae was an officer and member of Friends of the Library, AARP, Writer's Club, Kinship Program, Lake Minnewawa Association, ADK, PTA's, McGregor Area Arts Council, and recently joined the Red Hat Society. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award of Aitkin County. Her husband died August 27, 1996.
Survivors include sons, Bruce (Phyllis) Porisch of Flandreau, S.D., (Warren, John and Lisa, Eric and Lisa, Kyle, Matt), Pastor Robert (Jan) Porisch of St. Ansgar, IA, (Thea, Luke and Megan, Gretchen); daughters, Kathryn (Rich) Monson of Gibbon (Joanna and Mark Bolick, Kristina, Mark), Jean (Jim) Scheman of New Ulm, (Paul, Tricia, Megan), Gretchen Porisch of Farmington, (Greg, Valerie), Doris (Tim) McNamara of Farmington, (Phillip, Erin); one great-grandchild, Cole Bolick; brothers, Elmer (Gladys) Soehren of Clarkfield, Walter (Martha) Soehren of Windom; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Fae was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Kenneth Soehren, one sister, Wilma Soehren, and one grandchild, Jamie Monson.
Fae will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Christ, strong character, love of children, love of popcorn and bonfires, and her zest for life. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McGregor. Memorials are preferred to LWML.

Nancy Jo Hinkel, nee Nachreiner, age 41, of Villa Park, Ill., beloved wife of Michael; loving mother of Payton Grace; devoted daughter of Ruth and Arnold Nachreiner; dear sister of Bonnie (Terry) Skorczewski, Lori (David) Pherson, Al (Sara) Nachreiner, Russ (Mickey Burger) Nachreiner, and Holly (Niles) Hanson; dear daughter in law of Bob and Wilhelmina Hinkel, sister in law of Marijka (Andy Topham) Hinkel and John (Heather) Hinkel, also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation at the Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary 435 N. York Rd, Elmhurst, Ill. on Saturday, Feb, 14, from 2 p.m. until time of memorial service 4 p.m. Nancy was a 1981 graduate of Cathedral H.S., 1985 Graduate Magna Cum Laude Southwest State. University, Minn.; and received her Masters Degree from University of Illinois at Chicago; and employed as a Program Coordinator for the DuPage County Health Department, Please omit flowers, if desired, memorials may be directed to the family in care of Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 630-834-1133

Sylvia Holle, 91, of Mankato, formerly of Courtland, died Thursday, Feb. 12th at Sunrise Cottage of Mankato.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Schmucker Funeral Service Chapel in New Ulm, with Rev. Thomas Henning officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm.
Sylvia Jane Gardner, the daughter of Orrion and Lottie (Mau) Gardner, was born November 29, 1912 in Mission, SD, where she spent her youth and graduated from high school. She married Edward Holle January 1, 1934 at Mission, SD. They made their home in South Dakota and Nebraska for a time, before moving to Courtland, MN where they spent most of their married life together. Sylvia worked for B.F. Goodrich and Stork Brothers in New Ulm for many years. Following her husband's death, she continued to make her home in Courtland, until moving to Mankato several years ago to be near her daughter. She moved to the Sunrise Cottage of Mankato in 1999. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Survivors include her daughters, Valeria Youell of Mankato, Carol Long and her companion Phil Dodson of Fort Madison, IA; grandchildren, Vickie Schwichtenberg and her husband Scott of Mankato, Pat Long and his wife Shana of Nauvoo, IL, Gregory Long of Burlington, IA, Kenneth Long of Fort Madison, IA; great grandchildren, Debbie, Jason and Jarrod Schwichtenberg, Kaitlyn, Mitchell, Lydia and Riley Long, Amanda and Erin Long; brother-in-law, Rueben Holle and his wife Esther of Mankato, nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Youell, one brother and seven sisters.

Eunice Martensen, 73, of Hector, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial will be in Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by four daughters, Judie Berg of New Ulm, Julie Heller of Hector, Cheryl Kaczmarek of Hutchinson and Lynn Lange of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; a brother, Leon Otto of Wabasso; a sister, Lois Zimmerman of Lamberton.
She was born Oct. 17, 1930 in Redwood County, Minnesota to Hugo and Elsie (Otto) Otto.

Evelyn Bjornson, 86, of the Real Life Apartments in New Ulm died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at the St. Peter Community Health Care Center in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 16th at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Joyce Tollefson Capp officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to time of the service at the church.
Evelyn is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Sherril and Sandra Bjornson of Redwing and Darrel and Peggy Bjornson of Goodyear, Arizona; grandchildren, Stacy Hall and her husband, Brad, Scott Bjornson, Steven Bjornson and his wife, Amanda, Erik Bjornson and his wife, Uschi, Heidi Rich and her husband, Keith; and by great grandchildren, Jacob Hall, Megan, Maddalena and Miles Rich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mary Anderson; her husband, Alvin Bjornson in 1992, and by a brother, Harold Anderson.
Evelyn A. Bjornson, the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Kollos) Anderson was born on September 16, 1917 in St. Clair. She attended school in St. Clair and Pemberton graduating from Pemberton High School. On June 29, 1938 she was united in marriage to Alvin Bjornson at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair. After marriage they lived in various places before moving to New Ulm in 1964. While living in New Ulm Evelyn had worked as a sales clerk at the Fisher Drug Store in New Ulm for many years before retiring in 1976. For several years her and her husband wintered in Arizona and spent the summers in Minnesota. She was a member of the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm and had been very active in the Funeral Lunch Committee at her church.
