Elaine L. Werner, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 20, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday at Nelson Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls and continues one hour before services Friday at the church.
She is survived by son Donald Werner of Redwood Falls; daughter Debra Wertish of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Einer Nelson of Redwood Falls.
She was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Redwood Falls, to Oscar and Mildred (Glass) Nelson.

Eugene Winkelmann, 67, of Hector, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at his home.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at St, Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector.
Burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
He is survived by his wife Norma of Hector; children, Valerie Rieke of Fairfax, Calvin of Jordan, Jared of Hector, Duane of Eau Claire, Wis., and Sheila Lack of Victoria; and 13 grandchildren.
Eugene George Winkelmann was born Dec, 16, 1936, in Springfield, Minn., to Alfred and Ada (Eichstadt) Winkelmann.

Dolores C. Merkel, 82, of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield..
Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by a brother, George Merkel of Fairfax and sisters, Erna Kokesch of Willmar and Pat Rubischko of New Ulm.
She was born April 14, 1921, in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, to Guy and Anna (Dummer) Merkel.

Helen Saffert, 95, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. There will be no visitation or reviewal. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Helen Kienlen, the daughter of Joseph and Walburga (Altmann) Kienlen, was born Nov. 28, 1908, in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1927 and from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in 1930. Helen was a Registered Nurse for fifty years, working first at St. Mary's Hospital and then Loretto Hospital. She married Dr. Cornelius Saffert on May 26, 1941. Helen was a member of the Lind House Association, Brown County Historical Society, Minnesota Conservation Federation, President's Club of the University of Minnesota Medical Foundation, Mayo Legacy, and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her husband died Sept. 30, 1991.
Helen is survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Laura J. Egesdal, 52, of Gaylord, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at her home, in Gaylord, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church, in Gaylord, with interment in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. on Monday, and 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Egesdal Funeral Home, in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services, at the church.
Laura Jean Egesdal was born on March 23, 1951, in Standish, MI, to Clark and Joyce (Packard) Geiger.
Laura graduated from Arenac Eastern High School, in Twining, MI, in 1969. She moved to Minneapolis to attend McConnell Airline School. She was employed by the United Airlines, as a flight attendant, until a collapsed lung forced her to leave the airline business. She then worked at the home office of Lutheran Brotherhood in communications, in Minneapolis.
In 1970, Laura married Klaus Grosshans and moved to Gaylord. The couple divorced in 1996.
Laura worked at the Gaylord Lakeview Home as a Dietary Assistant. She attended the University of Minnesota and received a license in quality assurance for food processing. She attended Sister Rosalind Geffre School of Professional Massage, in Mankato. She was an Office Manager and Assistant Director at the Egesdal Funeral Home, in Gaylord, until ill health forced an early retirement.
On December 9, 2000, Laura was united in marriage to Elden Egesdal, at the American Lutheran Church, in Gaylord.
Laura was a member of the American Lutheran Church, in Gaylord. She enjoyed spending time with and visiting with her family and friends. Laura loved making special food and baking special desserts for her family, doing massages, traveling, shopping, dancing, gardening, and attending to her home. Laura was known for being a big Elvis fan. She had a special love in serving families at the Egesdal Funeral Home.
Laura is preceded in death by her father, Clark Geiger; daughter, Heidi Grosshans, in infancy; father-in-law, Earl Egesdal; former father-in-law, Oscar Grosshans, and brother-in-law, Rev. Bruce Engebretson.
Laura is survived by her: husband, Elden Egesdal of Gaylord; children, Christopher Grosshans of Burnsville and Melissa Grosshans of Marshall; mother, Joyce Geiger of Twining, MI; sisters, Cindy Williams and her husband, Gary, of Mason, MI and Debi Chapman and her husband, Fred of Turner, MI; stepchildren: John Egesdal and his wife, Mary Anne of Hoffman Estates, IL, David Egesdal and his wife, Cindy of Brooklyn Park, Tom Egesdal and his wife, Kerry of Seymour, WI, Ruth Solie and her husband, Tom of Rockford, IL and James Egesdal of Shakopee; six stepgrandchildren; mother-in-law: Laura B. Egesdal of Blue Earth; brother-in-law, Sanford Egesdal of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Karen Trelstad and her husband, Rev. Gordon of Red Wing and Miriam Engebretson of Anchorage, AK; father of Laura's children, Klaus Grosshans of Gaylord; former mother-in-law, Clara Grosshans of Minneapolis.

Clarence Meder, 105, of Gibbon, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
Clarence is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Harlan Spaude of rural Gibbon; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Lillian Meder of New London; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Erna Meder on January 27, 1982; a son, Alvin Meder on October 19, 1975; a brother, Arnold Meder; and a sister, Myrtle Rau.
Clarence was born on Jan. 1, 1899, in Ottertail County to Conrad and Emelia (Hannemann) Meder. On April 8, 1925, he married Erna Howe in Osseo. In 1946 they moved to Gibbon where he managed the Gambles Grocery until 1948. From 1948 until his retirement in 1968 he was the custodian for Gibbon schools. On Oct. 4, 2001, he became a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan assisted living. In January 2004 he became a resident of the Winthrop Good Samaritan Home in Winthrop. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon.

Eric James Mellingen, 14, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, as the result of a car accident.
A time to remember Eric will be held Monday in the lecture theater at New Ulm Senior HIgh School, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Eric was born June 2, 1989, to Kevin Mellingen and Carol Erickson in St. Paul.

LeRoy Anderson, 91, of Hector, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 11.00 am. at the Swedlanda Lutheran Church in rural Hector. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Memorials in lieu of flowers preferred to Renville County Hospice, FREE (Friends and Relatives Enabling the Elderly) at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, and to the Swedlanda Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home.
LeRoy is survived by his children: Arthur Anderson of Hopewell, Va., Randy Anderson of Elk River, and Kristine Stevens of Eagan; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Esther Gunderson of Buffalo Lake and Evelyn Kivioja of Hutchinson. Ernest Clifford LeRoy Anderson was born Jan. 4, 1913, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, to Albert and Christina (Kelberg) Anderson.

Mildred Ida (Braulick) Haala, 80, of Sleepy Eye died on Friday, February 20, 2004 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home on Monday, February 23, 2004 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday February 24, 2004 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Service will be held at Church of the Japanese Martyrs on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. The Clergy will be Fr. Todd Petersen & Father Brian Oestreich. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family via www.sturmfh.com.
Mildred was born on November 11, 1923 in Stark Township, Brown County, MN the daughter of Leo & Clara (Wurtzberger) Braulick.
She married Walter Haala on June 2, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple lived and farmed in Mulligan Township until retiring and moving to Sleepy Eye in 1993. Mildred was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, the Holy Family Society, the Christian Mothers and the CCW. She was active with volunteering at Divine Providence Home with Bingo and monthly Birthday Parties. She enjoyed old time music, playing cards and making quilts for family. Mildred enjoyed going to any event that involved her grandchildren. She mainly loved family events and gatherings where she could cook or bake for them.
Survivors include her children, Lois and husband Tim Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Linda Schwerzler of LeSueur, LeAnn and husband Tom Hale of Sleepy Eye, Gary and wife Judy Haala of Sleepy Eye, LaVonn and husband Larry Braun of Sleepy Eye and Lori and husband Leon Braun of Sleepy Eye, 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, brother, James and wife Elaine Braulick of New Ulm, sister, Phyllis and husband James Wendinger of Fairfax and aunt and good friend, Irene Schiller of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter in 1997, two daughters in infancy, brothers, Elmer Leo, Jr. and Walter and wife Dorrine Braulick.

Lorraine Herzog, 74, of 1014 North Franklin Street in New Ulm died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father John A. Richter celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. both Monday at the funeral home.
Lorraine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Patty Herzog of Park Rapids, Randy and Deb Herzog of New Ulm, Rick and Margaret Herzog of Brainerd, Tim and Becki Herzog of New Ulm; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; mother-in-law, Adelia Herzog of New Ulm; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Agnes Griffiths, Alice and Dennis Blomquist, all of Mankato, Darlene and Tom Gleisner of Walnut Creek, California; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan and Onie Dittrich of New Ulm, Les and Jackie Dittrich of Kasota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard "Dick" Herzog on May 24, 1989; son, Gregory Herzog on June 13, 1976; daughter-in-law, Linda K. Herzog on February 19, 1986; brother, Leo Dittrich on May 23, 2001; and her father-in-law, Henry Herzog.
Lorraine was born July 26, 1929 in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County to John and Emma (Kretsch) Dittrich. She attended New Ulm Public Schools and was a 1947 graduate of New Ulm High School. She was united in marriage with Richard A. Herzog on April 11, 1950 at the St. Gregory Catholic Church in Lafayette. After marriage they lived in Mankato. They moved to New Ulm in 1952 where she worked for the New Ulm Telephone Company, Lindsay Soft Water and then for Veigel's Kaiserhoff for 37 years until she retired in August, 2003. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Christian Mothers Society, St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society, and the Turner Ladies. She enjoyed making scrapbooks.
In lieu of flowers, the Herzog family prefers memorials to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and the American Cancer Society.

Herbert "Herb" Weikle, age 82 of Fairfax, passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in Fairfax.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 2:30 p.m., at the Central Lutheran Church, in Camp Twp., Renville Co., with interment in the Ft. Ridgely and Dale Cemetery in Camp Twp., Renville Co.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., on Monday, and 7:30 a.m. - Noon on Tuesday, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services, at the church.
Herbert George Orlando Weikle was born April 4, 1921, in Bandon Twp., Renville Co., MN, to Mathias and Norah (Carlson) Weikle. Herb attended country school and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1940. After graduation, he farmed with his father in Bandon Twp.
Herb married Emma C. L. Dreyer on August 9, 1947, at the Ft. Ridgely and Dale Church in Camp Twp. The couple lived and farmed on the Weikle Century farm in Bandon Twp., until August of 2001, when they moved into Fairfax.
Herb was an active member of Central Lutheran Church, where he served as past church officer, as usher, in the Men's Brotherhood group, and he sang in the choir. He also served many years as the president of the Ft. Ridgely and Dale Cemetery Association. More than anything, Herb loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed attending auctions and visiting with his friends.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents.
Herb is survived by his: wife, Emma Weikle of Fairfax; daughter, Renee Ruschmeyer and her husband, Vernon of Gibbon; 4 grandchildren, Sara Ruschmeyer of Racine, WI, Jon Ruschmeyer and his fiancée, Darcy Berger of Fairfax, Anna Ruschmeyer of St. Cloud and Maria Ruschmeyer of Gibbon, and one great-grandchild, McKenna Ruschmeyer of Fairfax.

Marvin Buboltz, 83, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m, Friday, Feb. 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Thursday at Hughes Funeral Home, Stewart and Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his children, Dale of St. Mary's, Pa., Randall of Litchfield, Brenda Maiers of Hutchinson and Jolene Bruce of St. Peter; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was born March 6, 1920, in Gibbon to Theodore and Lunita (Berger) Buboltz.

Merrill Haaheim, 90, of Winthrop, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at the First Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.
Funeral arrangements are with Dalin-Hantge Chapel in Winthrop
Merrill is survived by his wife Florence "Edna" Haaheim of Winthrop; son Gary Haaheim of England; one grandson; one granddaughter; and sister, Hazel Ollig of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was born Feb. 9, 2004, in Bethel, Minn., to Edmund and Esther (Hall) Haaheim.

Theresa Neudecker, 105, of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel with burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Theresa Rose Neudecker, daughter of Michael and Anna (Sellner) Neudecker was born Jan. 21, 1899 in Sundown Township, Redwood County, Minn.
