Janice Buggert, born May 1, 1935, in Redwood County, Minnesota to Fredrick and Jocelyn Zieske, died March 30, 2004, at her home in Mesa, Arizona, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Janice is survived by her husband of fifty years, Fremont Buggert. Also their son, Danny Buggert of St Peter, Minnesota; daughter, Kari Buggert of Mesa, Arizona; her mother, Jocelyn Zieske/Sasse of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; sisters, Betty Trebiesch and Marion Rolloff of New Ulm, Minnesota; grandchildren, Nichole, Karl and Kayla and great-granddaughter, Ava Grace.
Janice attended and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School. She was the Materials Planner at Data 100 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, prior to moving to Arizona where she became the Contract Administrator for ITT Courier in Tempe, Arizona.
Janice was also a proficient musician on the electronic keyboard.

Thecla Hoffmann, 81, of rural New Ulm, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 2, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles with Father John A. Richter and Sister Monica Wagner celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. John's Catholic Aid Council will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday both at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Thecla is survived by her husband, Leo J. Hoffmann of rural New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Rodney Tempel of rural Morgan; sons, Leo Hoffmann Jr. and Tony Hoffmann both of New Ulm; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Patrick and Mary Zwach of Palm Springs, California; a sister-in-law, Marcella Zwach of New Ulm; and brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Florence Hoffmann of New Ulm; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jerome and Sylvester Zwach; son-in-law, James I. Hoffmann.
Thecla was born on September 24, 1922, in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, to Anton J. and Anna M. (Meidl) Zwach. She attended country school in Brighton Township, Nicollet County. On March 3, 1943, she married Leo John Hoffmann at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They have been married for 61 years and lived on the farm south of New Ulm in Cottonwood Township.
Thecla loved music, gardening, baking and sewing. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Aid Council, and she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Searles.

Daniel Richard Augustin, 46, of Sleepy Eye, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at his home in rural Sleepy Eye.
Service will be held at Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth on Saturday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. The Clergy will be Father Todd Petersen. Interment will be in the Japanese Martyrs Cemetery
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye; and will continue at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Daniel was born on Oct. 23, 1957, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Russell and Donna (Hose) Augustin. He grew up and attended school in Leavenworth and Sleepy Eye. He graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1978. Dan attended vocational school in Canby, where he graduated with a degree in welding. He worked as a welder in Owatonna for about ten years. Due to health reasons Dan moved home to live with his family. Daniel was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. He enjoyed being outdoors, visiting with family, mowing lawn, reading the paper and Bandit their Siamese cat.
Survivors include his mother, Donna Augustin of Sleepy Eye, sister, Kathy and husband Bruce Meier of Owatonna; brothers, Ron Augustin of Sleepy Eye and Steve Augustin of Sleepy Eye; nieces and nephews, Shelly Augustin, Elizabeth Edick, Matthew Edick, Genevieve Meier and Jacob Meier.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell and brother, Michael.

Millicent Justine Holden, 82, of Mapleton, formerly of Amboy and Lake Crystal, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Mapleton Community Home.
Service is 11 a.m., Monday, April 5, at Jackson Lake Lutheran Church, in Amboy. Burial will be in the Lake Crystal Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service at the church.Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Millicent was born on Jan. 30, 1922, in Lake Crystal to N. Dee and Edna J. (Martinson) Holden.

Orlene Horman, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with Rev. Tim Grams officiating. Burial will follow in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Orlene Alice Horman, the daughter of Gust and Alma (Meyer) Vollmer was born October 15, 1917 in rural Lamberton. Orlene married Kermit Horman February 23, 1947 in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Redwood County, farming west of Sleepy Eye in Brookville Township. Following her husband's death in 1951, Orlene moved into Sleepy Eye where she was employed as a sales clerk in local stores, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Phyllis Larsen and her husband Lester of Sleepy Eye, Idell Horman of Comfrey, Virginia Bendix of Echo, Thelma Vollmer of Sleepy Eye; niece, Audrey Horman of Eden Prairie; nephews, Armin Vollmer and his wife Joy of Tucson, AZ, Richard Horman and his wife Susan of Loretto, Ronald Horman and his wife Laura of Clements, Wyatt Bendix and his wife Barb of Echo, Scott Bendix and his wife Deb of St. Cloud, Paul Bendix and his wife Jolene of Minneapolis, and James Horman of Comfrey.
In addition to her parents and husband, Orlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Armin and Ralph Vollmer.

Milo F. Jirak, 86, of Montgomery, died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 5, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Montgomery, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. Military honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Veteran's Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m.
Besides his wife Gladys, Milo is survived by his son Don and his wife Sarah of Sleepy Eye; one grandson, Shawn Jirak of Sleepy Eye; a brother, Clarence and his wife Mary Jirak of New Prague; and a sister, Harriet and her husband Ray Schoenbauer of New Prague. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Eugene and Harry Jirak.
Milo F. Jirak was born March 30, 1918 in Lanesburg Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota, a son of John and Mary (Korbel) Jirak. He graduated from Montgomery High School in 1937 and farmed in the Montgomery area all his life. On Nov. 17, 1941, he was united in marriage to Gladys Kuzel in New Prague. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from April 17, 1942 to Nov. 8,1945. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, VFW and Legion Clubs and Pioneer Power. His interests included hunting, fishing, bowling, going to band concerts and listening to old time music.

Donald Gollnast, 77, of New Ulm, died Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6 at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Rev. Henry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery with full military honors conducted by New Ulm Veterans Organizations. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday and 7:00-8:00 a.m. Tuesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to service at the church.
Donald James Gollnast, the son of John and Agnes (Lang) Gollnast was born July 31, 1926 in New Ulm. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1944 and entered the U.S. Navy Air Force, receiving gunner and pilot training. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he attended Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Banking. Don was united in marriage to Suzanne Heymann on October 16, 1948 in New Ulm. He joined Citizens Bank in 1948, becoming President on November 1, 1981. Don was an active member of many community organizations, serving as President or Chairman of the New Ulm Toastmasters Club, New Ulm Club, New Ulm Business District, Inc., New Ulm Rotary Club, New Ulm Chamber of Commerce, New Ulm Police Commission, New Ulm Country Club, District #88 School Board, United Way of New Ulm, United Church of Christ, and the Brown County Bankers Association. He was a past member of American Legion Post #132 and was instrumental in developing the DMLC golf tournament and the Willkommen Committee of the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce.
Don was well known for his love of New Ulm and community involvement.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; son, James of St. Paul; sister, LaVonne Galbraith of Green Bay, WI; sisters-in-law, Ginny Rowe and her husband Bill of Old Tappan, NJ, Harriette Sandeen and her husband Tom of Hector; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother, John Gollnast, and a nephew, John Gollnast.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.

Elmer L. Krenz, 73,of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Friday, April 2, 2004 at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital of cancer.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home - Sleepy Eye, MN on Sunday, April 4, 2004 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 PM at the funeral home on Sunday.
Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, April 5, 2004 at 10:30 AM. Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Elmer L. Krenz was born on July 8, 1930 in Sleepy Eye, MN to Elmer & Etta (Severns) Krenz, Sr. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1954. He married Eileen Zollner on November 26, 1956 in Sleepy Eye where they lived until her death in 1987. Elmer was employed by Del Monte until his retirement. He married Ukee Stueber on November 17, 1989 and they lived in New Ulm until her death on September 11, 2003. He currently resided at Ross Park Apartments in Sleepy Eye. Elmer liked fishing and spending his summers at his camper on Rice Lake. He especially enjoyed the kids and giving rides on his golf cart. He was an enthusiastic lottery player and looked forward to his daily card game at Smiley's in New Ulm until his illness.
Elmer is survived by his children, Jeff Krenz of New Ulm, Kathy & husband Leigh Mailloux of Washington, DC, Jody & husband Wayne Braun of Sleepy Eye, Vicky Sprenger of Sleepy Eye, Ward Krenz of Sioux Falls, SD and Tom Krenz of St. Cloud, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 6 step-children, 10 step-grandchildren, sister, Dorothy Gross and mother-in-law, Helen Zollner both of Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eileen and wife, Ukee, daughter, Melody in 1967 and a sister.

Iva Arends, 86, of Belview, formerly of Redwood Falls, died Friday, Apr. 2, 2004 in Belview.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1917 in Granite Rock Township in Redwood County to Senator and Susie (Cartwright) Willhite.
She is survived by her children, Wally Arends of Wabasso; Dennis Arends of Eagle Lake; and Kathy Alexander of Vesta; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters Clesta Smith of Walnut Grove, and Verna Benedict of Tracy.

Jerome Dean Trebesch, 70, of rural Sleepy Eye died on Saturday, Apr. 3, 2004, at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in the Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
He was born May 23, 1933 in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, to Alex and Erna (Marks) Trebesch.
He is survived by wife, Alice of rural Sleepy Eye; daughter Dianne Anderson of Lamberton; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Rolland E. Abraham, 74, of Winthrop, MN, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery, with full military rites by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation will be on Monday from 5-8 p.m., and Tuesday, from 7:30-8:30 a.m., at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Jahnke of Gibbon.
He was born May 13, 1929, in Gaylord, to Emil and Helena (Arndt) Abraham.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to1953.
