Richard A. Larson, 70, of St. James, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at St. James Health Services Hospital in Saint James.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 17, at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James with military honors by the St. James Honor Guard.
Memorials are suggested to Augustana Lutheran Church.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, and 7:30-9 a.m., Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James; and continues one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by Gladys Becker of St. James and LaVonne Anderson of Trimont.
He was born Nov. 10, 1933, in St. James Township, to John and Hilma (Pierson) Larson.

Oliver F. Marti, 89, of Sleepy Eye, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, on Friday, April 16, from 4 to 9 p.m. and Faith United Methodist Church on Saturday April 17, from 12:30to 1:30 p.m.
Service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye on Saturday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. The Clergy will be Pastor Donn Rakow. Interment will be in Home Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Oliver was born on February 21, 1915, in Leavenworth Township, the son of Henry and Lucy (Alwin) Marti. He grew up in Home Township and attended District #30 country school. Oliver married Verla Schultz on March 10, 1936 in Home Township. The couple lived and farmed on Verla's home farm. In 1944 he purchased his first eight Registered Holstein cows and was in the Registered Holstein business until his retirement. Oliver was a charter member of the Brown County Holstein Association and the Brown County D.H.I.A., serving as a board member and president of both. He was on the State Holstein Board and was president for two years. Oliver was instrumental in the Brucellosis Eradication Program on the county level and helped start the ADA program. He served on the Brown County Fair Board many years. He was inducted into the Minnesota Livestock Hall of Fame at the U of M.
Oliver loved horses and had one of the last working teams in the area. He helped with some field work until he was 86 years old. Oliver also served on the District #30 School Board and the Stark-Sleepy Eye Creamery Board. He was an excellent carpenter and built and remodeled many homes and farm buildings. He was a lifetime member of and served as chairman of the building committee for Faith United Methodist Church and parsonage as well as serving on the administrative board and as trustee for most of his adult life.
Survivors include sons, Roger and Marsha Marti, James and Marcia Jo Marti, and Floyd and Brenda Marti, all of Sleepy Eye; a daughter, Shirley and Charles Cuykendall of Freeville, NY; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Marti of Alexandria and many nieces and nephews.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; wife Verla; brothers, Vernon and wife Glayd, and Eldon; sister, Dorothy and husband Carl Romberg; and brother-in-law B. Darwin and wife Irene Schultz.

Nathan Nachreiner, 21, of New Ulm, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye on Monday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Pastor Ron Freimark. Interment will be in Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, on Sunday, April 18, from 5 p.m. to 8 p..m. and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Nathan "Nate" James Nachreiner was born on February 15, 1983, in New Ulm, the son of Lisa (Witt) Nachreiner and Jeffrey Christensen. He grew up in Sleepy Eye where he attended Sleepy Eye Public School and later attended River Bend Alternative School in New Ulm. After he completed his schooling, Nate worked at Coleman Power Mate in Springfield as a welder for a few years. He worked at Krysteel Manufacturing in Lake Crystal for a short time before returning to work at Coleman where he was presently employed. Nate loved to work on and fix cars, trucks and snowmobiles. His favorite was a 1980 Monte Carlo he was restoring. He enjoyed his two nephews, hanging out with his friends, NASCAR racing and riding snowmobile.
Survivors include, mother and stepfather, Lisa and Merle Bohlin of Sleepy Eye; father, Jeffrey Christensen of Springfield; brothers, Nicholas Nachreiner and fiance Ricki Goldschmidt of Sleepy Eye and Adam Braun of Sleepy Eye; maternal grandmother, Ramona Witt of Sleepy Eye; paternal grandmother, Nathalie Christensen of Springfield; special friend, Mandy Blank of New Ulm; stepgrandparents, Leon and Betty Nachreiner of Sleepy Eye; nephews, Trevor and Trenton Nachreiner of Sleepy Eye; aunt, Madelyn and Jim Ronning of Bloomington; uncle, Doug Christensen of Springfield; godmother, Connie Dahlberg of Sleepy Eye and many cousins. Nate is also survived by his many wonderful friends that were with him until his death.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gilbert Witt; paternal grandfather, Kelly Marks; and aunt, Virginia Wilkerson.

Harold A. Peterson, 91, of rural St James, died Wednesday, April 15, 2004, at the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato
Services are 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17, at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church in rural St. James, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday at the Pow Funeral Home in St James and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday,
Peterson is survived by his wife Mildred; daughters, Virgene Stauffer of Sleepy Eye and Renelle Bigger of Delano; four grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1922, to Adolph and Lydia (Bloom) Peterson in rural St James.

Vera Weyker, 89, of Sleepy Eye and Morgan, died on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 in Sleepy Eye Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 17, with a CCW Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan and will continue one hour prior to time of service on Sunday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan.
She is survived by daughter, Claudia Weyker of Sleepy Eye.
She was born Oct. 20, 1914, In Eden Township, Brown County, to Ted and Anna (Foster) Zellmer.

Harold A. Peterson, 81, of rural St. James, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at the Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the West Sveadahl Lutheran Church in rural St. James with Pastor Evelyn Weston officiating. The musicians will be Pastor David and Darlene Fretham. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold's grandchildren and great grandchild and Nelson Township Board members, Jack Kreck, Paul Sawatzky, Virgil GoItz, Keith Brekken, and close neighbor, Elmer Johnson. The pallbearers will be Dan Newberg. Russ Newberg. Ned Newberg, Dale Norell, David Hesse, Norman Anderson, Bruce Hultgren and Kenny Moll. Burial will be in the West Sveadahl Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Pease Funeral Home in St. James is handling arrangements.
Harold Arthur Peterson, son of Adolph and Lydia (Bloom) Peterson, was born on December 15, 1922 in Nelson Township, Watonwan County.
Harold was baptized and confirmed at the West Sveadahl Lutheran Church. He attended District 37 School in Nelson Township and was a 1941 graduate of St. James High School. His marriage to Mildred Hotchkiss took place on November 17, 1946 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James. Following their marriage they farmed in Nelson Township until retirement. He had served as clerk for the District 37 School and was the Nelson Township Clerk for many years. He was an active lifelong member of the West Sveadahl Lutheran Church and had served on the church council and in the church choir. Harold had served as secretary and treasurer on the church cemetery board for many years. He enjoyed bowling, softball, fishing. gardening, working with trees, building birdhouses, and wildlife.
Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughters, Virgene Stauffer and her husband, Tom of Sleepy Eye and Renelle Biggar and her husband, Mark of Delano, Mn.; grandchildren, Brent Stauffer and his wife. Nancy, Nathan Biggar and his wife, Jessica, Stacy Biggar and her fiancé Nathan Doering and Travis Biggar and his girl friend, Mandy Hassler; a great grandchild, Cameron Biggar; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elmo and Elnora Lien of Comfrey and nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter; a sister, Janice Newberg, and brother-in-law, Ned Newberg.

Louise M. Schmitz, 86, of the Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm died Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday April 19, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Mary's Catholic Aid will pray the rosary at 6:00 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m., both Sunday at the funeral home.
Louise is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Maryls and Roger Huss of Kinnelon, New Jersey, Deanna and Ken Paa of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Bette Schmitz of Spicer; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; son-in-law, Edwin Steffl of Clements; sisters and brothers-in-law, Veronica Simon of Willmar, Rosemary and Hilary Tauer of Windom, Olivia and Howard Binder of Gibbon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Irene Fischer of Sleepy Eye, Arthur Fischer of Elrosa, Wilbert and Theresa Fischer of St. James, Sylvester and Lavon Fischer of Lafayette, Benjamin and Genny Fischer of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Schmitz on February 27, 2002; daughter, Janet Steffl on December 14, 2003; brothers, Emil Fischer, Edwin Fischer; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Louise Monica Fischer was born on August 23, 1917 in Sleepy Eye to Frank and Clara (Bruckbauer) Fischer. She married Edward J. Schmitz on May 4, 1937 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage they farmed in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County until 1965 when they moved to New Ulm. She had worked for Kraft and later for 3M in New Ulm until she retired. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to old time music, embroidery, crocheting, gardening, canning and baking. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, the St. Mary's Catholic Aid Council, the Farm City Hub Club and many card clubs.

Elsie Hames, 88, of New Ulm died Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father John A. Richter officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Elsie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette and John LoScalzo of Rockville, Maryland, Ramona and Rodney Nelson of Lafayette; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Marge Hames of New Ulm, Lyle and Judy Hames of Litchfield; twenty three grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alice Rewitzer and Madeline Rewitzer, both of New Ulm; daughters-in-law, LaNay Hames of Minnetonka, and Donna Hames of New Buffalo, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford in 1989; sons, Jerome Hames in 1975, Roger Hames in 1992; sister, Francis Brudelie; brothers, Louis, Frank, Joseph, Albert, John, Herman and Walter Rewitzer.
Elsie was born March 15, 1916 in New Ulm to Joseph and Barbara (Krause) Rewitzer. She married Clifford Hames on August 20, 1934 in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where she was a homemaker. She then worked for BF Goodrich in New Ulm until retiring. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Elmer W. Langhorst, 80, of 750 Woodland Drive in Gaylord and formerly of Bernadotte died Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Glencoe Regional Hospital in Glencoe.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2004 at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte with Pastor Garry Grunzke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Monday. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Verone Langhorst of Gaylord; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Roger Harbarth of Gaylord, Rita and David Heinrichi of Battle Lake, Linda Meyer of Rochester, Carol and Jim Young of Winthrop; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Mary Langhorst of Lafayette; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Elvera Hulke of Elgin, Illinois, Ardella Austad of Lakeville; a brother and sisters-in-law, Wallace and Delores Langhorst of Savage. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta Ginkel; and a brother, Marlin Langhorst.
Elmer was born October 14, 1923 in Courtland to Martin and Alwina (Voges) Langhorst. He attended school in Nicollet and was a graduate of Nicollet High School. He married Verone Peterson on August 27, 1943 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. After marriage they farmed near Courtland. In 1948 they moved to the Bernadotte area where they farmed until moving to Gaylord in 1980. Elmer was past board member and president of the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes, a member of the Bernadotte Lutheran Church, the Church Council, Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Lafayette Lions Club. Elmer family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them.
He was a resident of the Gaylord Lakeview Home since September, 2003.

Agatha Mathiowetz, 89, of Wabasso died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, in the Wabasso Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 19, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in
Wabasso with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and continues Monday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service Sunday at 7 p.m., followed by a rosary. The Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Wabasso and Echo is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by children, Linus Mathiowetz of Madison, Marie Barrington of Batavia, Ill., William Mathiowetz of Renville, LeRoy Mathiowetz of Wabasso, and Curtis Mathiowetz of Wabasso; 22 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Agatha Mathilda Mathiowetz was born Dec. 21, 1914, in Morgan Township, Redwood County,
Minnesota to Joseph and Clara (Prokosch) Heiderscheidt.

Zylpha Kramer, 93, of Gibbon died Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. Monday and from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
Zylpha is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Joyce Kramer of Post Falls, Idaho, Thomas and Marcy Kramer, Robin and Carol Kramer all of Gibbon, Darcy and Jeanne Kramer of Alexandria, and Glen and Mindy Kramer of Parkers Prairie ; daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra and Dennis Eikenberry of Oelwein, Iowa; twenty one grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Nora Fletcher of Rapid City, South Dakota; a sister-in-law, Lyla Busse of Highmore, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Kramer on January 5, 1975; daughter-in-law, Sandy (Ohland) Kramer; sister, Ella Niebuhr; brother, Clarence Busse; brothers-in-law, William Fletcher, Harry Jaekel, Edgar Niebuhr; and a nephew, Danny Busse.
Zylpha Leona Wilhelmina Busse was born on March 18, 1911 in Canby to John and Lorna (Lueders) Busse. She attended Dr. Martin Luther College and taught at Immanuel Lutheran School in Gibbon from 1930 - 1934. She married Harold Kramer on June 13, 1934 at the Nicolai Lutheran Church in Canby. For thiry five years they farmed north of Gibbon and moved to Gibbon in 1969. Zylpha loved her family, music, art, crafts, cooking and gardening. Not only was she a musician and accomplished artist, she also gave piano, organ and painting lessons to many children and adults. She directed plays in the old Gibbon City Hall and was choir director for several church and area choirs. She served as a Sunday School teacher, as well as kindergarten teacher at Immanuel in the late 1960's. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon and had been a resident of the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center since March 4, 2004.
