Evelyn J. Paulson, 73, of Madelia, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at the Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29, at Faith Lutheran Church, Madelia. Burial will be at Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 28 from 4-8 p.m. at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
She is survived by four sons, Orville Pettersen and Jeff Blickem of Madelia, Tom Blickem and, Joel Blickem of New Ulm; three daughters, Pam Bakke of Waseca, Jayne Balderas of Fairmont, and Lisa Blickem of Mankato; three sisters, Rose Chute of St. James, Margo Fohs of Burlington, Iowa, and Marlys Bruns of Las Vegas, Nev.; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Evelyn was born Oct. 30, 1930, to Eldon and Olga (Brevig) Pettersen.

Colleen Hoffman, 73, of Walnut Grove, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Tracy, with burial in Sanborn Cemetery.
Arrangements are handled by Almlie Funeral Home, Tracy.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; sons, Jeffrey, Scott, David of Walnut Grove, and Gregg of Windom; six grandchildren; and sister, June Brewster of Roseville, Calif.
Colleen Mae (Dietz) Hoffman was born Nov. 13, 1930, to Arnold and Pearl (Penner) Dietz at home in Sanborn Redwood County, Minn.

Marvin L. Severns, 83, of Mankato, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 1, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be 11:15 a.m. Monday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to VINE or Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospice Program.
Marvin was born in Winterset, Iowa, on April 26, 1921, to Ida M. Severns. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1939. He served in World War II with the 215th Army Artillery, serving in Alaska and Germany from November 1940 until his discharge in October of 1945.
On November 18, 1946, he married June LaRie Nelson of Sleepy Eye. They resided in Sleepy Eye before moving to Mankato in 1950. Marvin was a Coca Cola route salesman. He joined the Mankato Police Force in August of 1959. He retired from the police force as sergeant in September of 1979. He then served as a bailiff at the Blue Earth County Court for a number of years. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 11, and VFW Post Post 950, all in Mankato. Marvin enjoyed fishing and camping, was an avid reader and loved doing word puzzles.
Marvin is survived by his wife, June of Mankato; five children and their spouses, Marlene and Nylen Fischer of Mapleton, Suzanne and Dale Carlson of Philomont, Virginia, Thomas and Linda Severns of Mankato, LaRie and Craig Anderson of Chanhassen, Michael and Cynthia Severns of Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and a son, Ronald Severns.

Cecelia 'Lucille' Traurig, 95, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 1, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Father John Richter will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Friday, and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m., Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Friday at the funeral home.
Lucille is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold Jr. and Gloria Traurig of Sandia Park, New Mexico, Ronald and Judy Traurig of New Ulm; grandchildren, Lisa and her husband, Mark Schmidt, Julie and her husband, Jerry Olson, Dan and his wife, Jayne Traurig, Jane Meyer and fiancee Randy Tiell, Russell and his wife, Karilee Traurig and Gregory Traurig; great-grandchildren, Christy Olson, Brandon, Megan, and Rachael Meyer, Ellee, Emmee, Gracee, and Abbee Traurig, and John and Sarah Traurig.
She was preceded in death by her father, Andreas on April 15, 1960; mother, Barbara on September 4, 1958; husband, Harold Sr. on October 16, 1989; two brothers; and five sisters.
Cecelia Lucille Rubey was born December 6, 1908, in New Ulm to Andreas and Barbara (Dietz) Rubey. Her family immigrated from Austria in the early 1900s. She married Harold Traurig on November 19, 1929, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Chicago. After marriage they lived in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to New Ulm in 1941 where she and her husband established the Traurig Body Shop. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society.
In lieu of flowers, the Traurig family prefers memorials to the Way of the Cross in New Ulm.

Dorothy A. Beranek, 86, of Lamberton, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Valley View Care Center in Lamberton.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. Interment will be at the St. Mathias Catholic Cemetery in Wanda.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. today at the church
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
She is surivivied by her husband, Clem of Lamberton; children, Diane Irlbeck of Lamberton, Cletus Beranek of Lamberton, Galen Beranek of Lamberton, Sandy Laingen of Spicer, Dona Anderson of Elk River, and Mavis Paluck of Maple Grove; 29 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Sister Mary Rohlik of LaCrosse, Wis.; and brothers, Richard Rohlik ofSanborn, Tom Rohlik of Wisconsin, George Rohlik of Wabasso, and Donald Rohlik of Chandler, Ariz.
Dorothy Agnes Beranek was born Jan. 12, 1918 near Seaforth, to Thomas and Josephine (Bode) Rohlik.

George Merkel, age 91 of Fairfax, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 3, 2004, at 10:30 A.M., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:008:00 P.M., and Monday from 7:30 ­ 8:00 A.M., at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of the Mass at the church on Monday. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 P.M., and there will be a Parish Prayer service at 7:00 P.M., both on Sunday night at the funeral chapel in Fairfax.
George Raymond Merkel was born June 1, 1912, in Ridgely Twp., Nicollet Co., MN. He was the son of Guy and Anna (Dummer) Merkel. George graduated from Cathedral (Trinity) High School in New Ulm.
George married Julia M. Rubischko on October 6, 1943, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. The couple made their home and farmed in Ridgely Twp., Nicollet Co. They retired in 1981 and moved into Fairfax. They celebrated 49 years of marriage before Julia passed away on August 14, 1992.
George was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. He loved spending time with family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents; wife and sisters, Aurelia Strauss and Dolores Merkel.
George is survived by his: sons, Greg Merkel and his wife, Dianne of Fairfax, MN, and Allan Merkel of Sleepy Eye, MN; daughter, Joan Fournier and her husband, Wayne of Fairfax, MN; 7 grandchildren, Gary Merkel, Angela Knutzen and her husband, Jon, Stacia Merkel, Nura Alhoni, Missy Shallen, Dan Merkel and Jeff Merkel; 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary and Travis Shallen and Lillian and Melanie Merkel; sisters, Erna Kokesch of Willmar, MN, and Pat Rubischko and her husband, Ted of New Ulm, MN; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Edna Kettner, 85, of Springfield died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Springfield Medical Center Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 2, and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Springfield, on Monday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m.
Interment is Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.
The Clergy will be Pastor David Putz.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Edna Bertha Amanda Kettner was born December 14, 1918 in Northstar Township, Brown County, the daughter of Herman and Marie (Haseleu) Voge. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. Edna was united in marriage to Elmer Kettner on March 4, 1937, also at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They farmed in Northstar Township and following Elmer's death in 1990, Edna continued to live on the farm until moving to Springfield in 1999. She was a member of St.Paul Lutheran Church and the Rebecca Circle. Edna enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, playing cards, and especially enjoyed her family.
Edna Kettner died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital at the age of 85 years.
She is survived by children, Lois and husband Doug Dion of Mound, Jean and husband Allan Breitbarth of Hopkins, Judith and husband Ronald Traurig of New Ulm, Darlene and husband Rodney Simkins of Cottonwood, CA, Jerome and wife Jerrine Kettner of Springfield, Douglas and wife Sharon Kettner of Eau Claire, WI, Sharon and husband Roy Schwegel of Burnsville; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Arlene and husband Norman Krebs of Sleepy Eye, Mary Lou Schubbe of Springfield, Margie and husband Chuck Schwartz of Tracy; and brother, Alfred Voge of Tracy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer, son, Kenneth in infancy, and brother, Alvin Voge.

Gitte Lund Bergersen, 32, of Arlington, died on Thursday, April 29, 2004, in Minneapolis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4- 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service time Tuesday, all at Zion Lutheran Church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
She was born on July 21, 1971, in Frederiksvaerk, Denmark, to Erik and Tove (Vilbom) Lund.
She is survived by her husband; Eric Bergersen of Arlington; sons; Carsten and Soren; daughter; Else; mother, Tove Lund of Arlington; father, Erik Lund of Seattle, Wash.; brother; Lars Lund of Tampa, Fla.; sister; Pia Larsen of Arlington; and paternal grandmother; Hella Lund of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Ruth Preisinger, 84, of 1617 North Washington Street died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity with Father John A. Richter celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral, the St. Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerard and Debra Preisinger of Wingdale, New York; step grandchildren, Shane and Dana Murphy; a step great granddaughter, Evelyn Murphy; a sister, Eva Dobson of Staples; brothers and sister-in-law, Lloyd Knigge of Staples, and Leroy and Wilma Knigge of Spokane, Washington; and a sister-in-law, Violet Brown of Lichfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on May 18, 1981; two babies; sisters, Evelyn and Adeline Mead; and brothers; Vernon Knigge, and Orville Brown.
Ruth was born on December 21, 1919 near Biscay, Minnesota to Harlow and Ella (Koopman) Mead. She spent the first five years of her life in the Gillette Hospital for crippled children in the twin cities. She lived in Waseca, Newton, Iowa, and Gibbon.
On June 15, 1943 she was married to Raymond Preisinger at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. They lived in Milwaukee for thirty one years until moving back to New Ulm on May 30, 1979. She continued her education and received her GED in the 70's. Ruth enjoyed woodworking, making many projects including furniture. She also spent much time on word find puzzles. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mothers Society, and the St Elizabeth Catholic Aid Society.

Gale C. Schauer, 75, of Gibbon, died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winthrop with burial in Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop.
