Gerrit Bosch, 75, of New Ulm, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
He is survived by his wife Peggy of New Ulm; sons, Michael and Ronald; stepson Joshua Jones; stepdaughter Lisa Rash; and three grandchildren.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Orville Richard Steve, 83,of Sanborn, died on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton, Minn.
Service is 10:30 a.m,. Tuesday, May, May 11, at United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Burial will be at the Sanborn City Cemetery.
Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, at the United Methodist Church in Sanborn.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
He is survived by his wife, Luella of Sanborn; sons. Scott Steve of Worthington, and Craig Steve of Dickinson, N.D.; four grandchildren; and a brother Donald Steve of Sanborn.
Orville Richard Steve was born Oct. 29, 1920, the son of Henry and Marie (Quade) Steve in Springfield.

Mervyn 'Merv' Steffen, 60, of Nicollet, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at his home in Nicollet.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, at the Nicollet Conservation Club, rural Nicollet. Pastor Barb Lindeman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet.
Visitation will continue on Friday for one hour prior to the time of service at the Conservation Club.
Mervyn is survived by his wife, Sharon Steffen of Nicollet; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Anne Steffen of Mankato; mother-in-law, Evelyn Schons of rural Nicollet; a sister, Alona L. Knutson of New Hampton, Iowa; and by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Victor Schons.
Mervyn was born on March 6, 1944, in St. Paul to Clarence J. and Verona C. (Frank) Steffen. He attended Cottonwood High School graduating in 1962. In 1964, Merv enlisted in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, he went to Air Force Tech School studying electronics. On April 11, 1970, he married Sharon Schons at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet. From 1968-2004, he worked at KEYC TV in Mankato becoming chief engineer on February 15, 1999, and he held this job until his death. He was a member of the Nicollet Conservation Club, the Winthrop Golf Club, and he enjoyed golfing, trap-shooting, fishing, hunting, and had a great sense of humor.

Eleanore Wills, 89, of 500 South Franklin Street in New Ulm, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 13, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Father Edward J. Ardolf will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eleanore is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Mary Wills of Plymouth, Richard "Dick" and Donna Wills of New Ulm; grandchildren, Sheri Johnson and her husband, Denny of Madelia, Julie Portner and her husband, Lee of New Ulm; stepgrandchildren, Arlene Engeldew and her husband, Leslie of Minneapolis, Jerry Christensen of Plymouth; a stepgreat-grandson, Derek Fagerwold of Plymouth; sisters, Florence Fredrich and Hildegard Clyne, both of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Bonnie Wiedl, George and Leatrice Wiedl, all of New Ulm and Albert and Carol Wiedl of Chisago City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Wills on September 13, 1999; and by brothers, Alfred and Joseph Wiedl.
Eleanore Theresa Wiedl was born February 28, 1915, in New Ulm to Albert and Katherine (Groebner) Wiedl. She married Melvin Wills on June 18, 1935, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church parish house in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where she worked at Stork Brothers and the Wear Well Garment Factory. She also worked at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Karley Brooke Young
She was born Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at 6:55 a.m., at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, Minn., 7 pounds, 8 ounces, 20 1/2 inches, to Peter and Shannon "Shen" (Johnson) Young.
Karley stayed long enough to touch hearts before she died on Friday, May 7, 2004, at 9:25 p.m. at Children's Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.
Survived by: parents, Peter and Shannon "Shen" Young of Prior Lake; brother Ashton Young of Prior Lake; grandparents, Dennis and Beverly Johnson of New Ulm, James and Joyce Young of Dayton; great-grandmother, Norma Johnson of Hanska; aunts and uncles, Paul and Lisa Young of Ostego, John and Barb Young of Plymouth, Lisa and Joe Waldoch of White Bear Lake Township, Eric and Sheila Johnson of New Ulm, Michael Johnson of New Ulm; cousins Jenna, Collin Jessica and Michael Young, Luke and Amanda Young, Alexa and Ryan Waldoch, Heather and Courtney Johnson.
Preceded by: great-grandparents Arnold Johnson, Louis and Rose Adam, Harold and Amanda Young, Albert and Selma Bebensee; and uncle Corey Johnson.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 11, 5-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake
Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 12, at 11 a.m., at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, Prior Lake, Minn., with Reverend Michael Lee officiating.

Arline Hamilton, 76, of Alexandria, MN passed away gracefully on Friday, May 7, 2004, following a 14-year struggle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Arline is survived by son, Gregory Hamilton, and daughter Julie Hamilton, both of Ft. Collins, CO, and daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Rick Nelson of Alexandria; and grandchildren, Grace, Charlie, Nate and Brooke. She also leaves behind the Eckstein clan of southern Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick.
Arline will be remembered for her enjoyment of the simple things in life. She was an unabashed nature lover, Minnesota booster and sports fan. Arline only improved with age. She was a supportive and non-judgmental parent and friend.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 18, at St. Mary's Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Monday at Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria and also one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minn., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to the Douglas County Hospice.

Clayton Barnes, 88, of Stewart, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. Burial will be in the Round Grove Lakeside Cemetery at Stewart.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday, at Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart and continues one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his daughter Pat Wallner of West St. Paul; son Richard Barnes Alpharetta, Georgia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Stewart, Minn., to Richard and Adeline (Staff) Barnes.

Alvin Bartels, 86, of Winthrop, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2004, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 15, at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Interment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m.., and Saturday from 7:30 -8:30 a.m. at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
Alvin Adolph Bartels was born on Nov. 15, 1917, in Brownton, McLeod County, Minn. He was the son of Ernst and Anna (Lipke) Bartels. Alvin was baptized on December 9, 1917, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Penn Township, McLeod County, by Rev. George Deimer. He was later confirmed in his faith on March 29, 1931, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church by Rev. Walter Deimer.
Alvin and Bernette (Trebbensee) Bartels were united in marriage on October 19, 1939, at the Zion Lutheran Church, in Winthrop, by Rev. C.W.A. Kuehner. They shared 52 years of marriage until Bernette passed away on March 14, 1992. After their marriage the couple resided in Brownton. At that time, Alvin was employed at the Brownton Oil Company for Paul Tatsen. In 1942, they moved to Winthrop, and Alvin was employed as a farm hand for Clarence Lind (a local farmer). From 1945 to February of 1947, he was employed at Tri-County Dairy in Winthrop. Then in February of 1947, he became self-employed by purchasing the truck line from B. A. Olson. He continued in this profession until his retirement, upon observing 50 years in business in 1997.
While a member at Zion Lutheran Church, Alvin served on the church board. This activity took place during the time of the construction of the present church.
Alvin has been a life time member of the Winthrop Game Protective League. He was also on the board of the Minnesota Permit Truckers Association. For many years, he judged the 4-H cattle for Sibley and McLeod counties. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and playing cards.
Alvin is survived by his son, Allen Bartels and his wife Joleen, of Winthrop,; daughter, Lorna Flak and her husband Duane, of Decorah, Iowa; grandchildren, Jay Bartels and his wife, Amy of Gaylord, Patrick Bartels of Winthrop, and Kristen Flak of Decorah, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Max and Libby Bartels of Gaylord; special Friend, Jeanette Voelz of Winthrop; sisters, Margaret Draeger of Brownton, Evelyn Schiroo of Gaylord, and Edna Rettig and her husband, Otto of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernette; and brothers-in-law, Emil Draeger and Herb Schiroo.

Gary Novak, 58, of 16721 KC Road in New Ulm, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 14, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military honors will be conducted by the New Ulm veterans organizations at the cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Gary is survived by his wife, Marilyn Novak of New Ulm; mother, Lydia Novak of Winthrop; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marti Novak of Forest Lake; stepsons, Evert Jarvis and his special friend, Annette Strong both of Minneapolis, Rodney Jarvis of Elk River, Richard Jarvis and his special friend, Patricia Morales both of St. Paul, Robby Jarvis and his fiance, Bethany Peterson both of Burnsville; grandchildren, Tim and Nick Novak; stepgrandchildren, Russell, Robby, Joy, and Evert Jarvis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Novak on November 15, 1987; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey and Rodney Erickson; and by aunts and uncles.
Gary was born on November 9, 1945 in New Ulm to Louis and Lydia (Alsleben) Novak. In 1963, he graduated from Winthrop High School in Winthrop. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1965. In 1966, he married Judy Cordes. He worked for Kolsted Company in St. Paul as a welder until moving to New Ulm in 1984 where he became employed at the Lafayette Farmers Co-op as a welder. On February 22, 1998, he married Marilyn Lorin in Las Vegas. He has been a lifetime member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in the shop and could fix anything.

Bernice Zeman, 78, of Birch Cooley Township, Renville County, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 15, at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Friday; and 7:30-8 a.m., Saturday, at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and one hour prior to services at the church.

Louise O'Rourke Miscevich, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died peacefully in her sleep Mother's Day morning, Sunday, May 12, 2004, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 17, 10:30 a.m., at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel in Sleepy Eye. Friends may call on the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and one hour prior to the service at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel. Clergy will be Fr. Brian Oestreich and interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
Louise was born Nov. 29, 1911, on a farm near Minnesota Lake, the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Zimny) Stencel. She married Charles O'Rourke on Nov. 25, 1930, and they farmed in Faribault County for 14 years. The couple moved to Sleepy Eye and then Waseca before relocating to California. Charles preceded her in death in June of 1980. Louise married Ray Miscevich in California and following his death, moved back to Minnesota. She had been a resident of Divine Providence Community Home the last two years of her life. Louise was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and enjoyed flowers, especially roses, reading, making special quilts for family and friends and embroidery. She was also known as a great letter writer.
Survivors include daughters Patricia (Stanley) Seifert of Sleepy Eye; Mary Kanelos of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; Carmel Bennett of North Mankato; Beatrice (Eddie) Nevis of Paradise, Calif.; and Joette Juarez of Salinas, Calif.; sons Dennis (Margo) O'Rourke of Mesa, Ariz.; and Dean (Charlene) O'Rourke of Vallejo, Calif.; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Gib) Martin of Princeton Ill.; and Eileen (Orville) Botts of San Fernando, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles O'Rourke; second husband, Ray Miscevich; a son, Charles O'Rourke, Jr.; four brothers; and six sisters.
Casket bearers are Carey Seifert, Craig Seifert, William Freitag, Brent Thoreson, Jeffery Bennett and Bradley Bennett.
