Leona I. Rose, 86, of Winthrop, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral service is 3 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township and will continue one hour before services Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.
She is survived by her son, Donald Rose Sr. of Redwood Falls; daughters, Carol Rose of Arlington, Suzanne Bielke of Glencoe, Arlene Rose of Morton; seven grandchildren; 14 great-granchildren; sisters, Esther Stresemann of Mankato, Ruth Klukas of Gibbon, Alpha Geslin of Columbia Heights, and Elaine Klukas of Winthrop.
Leona Ida Emma (Pagel) Rose was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to John and Bertha (Rettmann) Pagel.

Donald Rothmeier, 70, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Redwood Falls Area Hospital in Redwood Falls.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Church Of St. Joseph in Clements with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield with combined rosary and parish prayer service at 7 p.m.; and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
He is survived by wife Marilyn (Trost) Rothmeier; children, Deb Mathiowetz of Morgan, Darryl Rothmeier of Brookings, SD, Maggie Kopischke of Overland Park, KS; eight grandchildren; a brother, Norbert Rothmeier of Wabasso;
Donald Leo Rothmeier was born on Dec. 11, 1933 to Michael and Minnie (Boettger) Rothmeier.

Donald Zenger, 81, of rural Butterfield, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 17, at St. James Catholic Church with burail in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Sunday at Pease Funeral Home in St. James. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gretchen Kamolz, 85,of Hutchinson, MN and formerly of Springfield died on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson, MN.
Visitation will be at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield on Monday, May 17, 2004 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Service will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield on Monday, May 17, 2004 at 7:00 PM.The Clergy will be Pastor Dave Putz. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN. E-mail condolences may be sent to www.sturmfh.com.
Gretchen Arlene Kamolz, age 85, of Hutchinson, formerly of Springfield, Minnesota, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Prairie Senior Cottages in Hutchinson, Minnesota.Gretchen was born on April 10, 1919 to Otto and Dale (Runck) Bloemke in Springfield. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. She graduated in 1937 from Springfield High School.
On May 21, 1941, Gretchen married Emil Kamolz at St. Paul Lutheran Church.Gretchen and Emil lived in San Francisco where Emil was serving in the U.S. Army. In 1945, the couple returned to Springfield where they made their home and worked in family businesses. In the 1950's they owned and operated the Red Owl Grocery Store and the Kamolz Shoe Store. Later Gretchen worked part time for local grocery stores, and waitressed at local cafes. The couple retired in 1982.Gretchen was a member of the Springfield American Legion Women's Auxiliary and St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, fishing and gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth and his wife Betti of New Ulm, Jerry and his wife Cheryl of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Edward and his wife Linda of Escondido, California; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren, a brother, Richard Bloemke and his wife Lucille of Belmond, Iowa, sister in-law, Joan Bloemke of Waseca, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Roman in infancy and Raymond in Oct. 2003, her husband in Dec. 2002, and a daughter, Susan, in infancy.

Alice Easland, 83, of Gaylord, died on Friday, May 14, 2004, in Gaylord.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Gaylord, with burial in Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
She is survived by her sons, David of Gaylord and James of Fairfax; daughters, Diane Baxter of Jordan and Donna Kassuelke of Brooklyn Center, and four gandchildren.
She was born June 10, 1920 in Midway, Wash., to William and Serena (Roesler) Dobrunz.

Harvey John Tautges, 60, of Gibbon, died Thursday, May 13, 2004 at his home of complications related to pancreatic cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2004 at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with Father Ron Huberty presiding. Burial will follow in the St. Willibrord's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 ­ 8 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at St. Willibrord's, with a 7 p.m. parish prayer service. Visitation will continue from 7:30 until the time of service on Monday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is handling the arrangements.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 37 years, Connie (Eichten) Tautges of Gibbon; father John Tautges of Gibbon; son and daughter-in-law Dean and Becky Caldwell-Tautges, and their two sons, Jesse and Jonah, of St. Louis Park; son and daughter-in-law Glen Tautges and Jennifer Richason, and their son William, of St. Cloud; daughter and son-in law Julie and Tom Henline of Westby, Wisconsin; and son Dan Tautges of Burnsville and fiancé Alanna Moravec. Harvey is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Annette and Lloyd Perry of New Ulm and Genevieve and Melvin Neyers of Gibbon; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Marlene Tautges of Albert Lea; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Stanley and Agnes Eichten of Mankato, Jerry Eichten of Wabasso, and Steve and Marlene Eichten of Hutchinson.
Harvey was preceded in death by his mother Cecelia Tautges on November 13, 2003, father-in-law and mother-in-law Raymond and Genevieve Eichten, sister-in-law Cathy Eichten, and nephew Peter Tautges.
Harvey, the son of John and Cecelia (Gitter) Tautges, was born April 24, 1944 in New Ulm. He was a 1962 graduate of Gibbon High School. He married Constance Eichten on Nov 12, 1966 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. He farmed his entire life in Severance Township, Sibley County, working side by side with his wife and father. He took great pride in farming, but valued more his marriage, children, and friends. Harvey found pleasure in taking care of the needs of others and doing little things to make their lives better. He was a wonderful grandpa to three young grandsons. Since learning of the cancer, Harvey used his time saying good-bye and making plans for the future of his family, especially Connie. Despite his pain, he remained more concerned about what would happen to others after his death. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Many thanks to Dr. Rysdahl, Dr. Frenning, and New Ulm Medical Center Chemo and Hospice staff for their compassionate and professional care during the past seven months.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.

Alpha S. Thordson, 89, of Springfield, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, in Marshall.
Services will be Monday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial at Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 16, 4-8 p.m. and Monday, May 17, 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a brief prayer service Sunday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her son, Randal, of Marshall; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and brothers, Julian Ahlness of Hanska and Elton Ahlness of Springfield.
Alpha Senora Thordson was born Sept. 1, 1914, in Hanska, to Hans and Ida (Wee) Ahlness.

Dorothy Case, 85, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Friday, May 14, 2004 at her home.Visitation will be at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye on Tuesday, May 18, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and Faith United Methodist Church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, Sleepy Eye on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. The Clergy will be Pastor Donn Rakow. Interment Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye with military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Dorothy Pree was born on October 16, 1918 in Milwaukee WI, the daughter of Frank & Laura (Boeschenstien) Pree. She grew up in Milwaukee, graduating from Bay View High School & then Milwaukee State Teachers College with a degree in music. She taught in both Michigan & Wisconsin prior to becoming an aircraft inspector in Chicago. She was a proud member ot the US Marine Corp's Women's Band where she played the clarinet & was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. This band was the only all women's band in the Corp's history & they toured throughout the Eastern half of the United States playing concerts to sell war bonds. At the end of WWII, she met her future husband, Neil Case, also a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune. They married on February 23, 1946 in Milwaukee & settled on the Case family farm in Home Township. In 1964, Dorothy returned to teaching with several years in Madelia & then accepted a position with the New Ulm Public Schools. After retiring in 1984, she continued to substitute teach into her 70's. In 1991 she was recognized as a Woman of Achievement by The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for her service to the teaching profession & the community. Dorothy helped organize the Retired Teachers Group for New Ulm teachers. She enjoyed attending community plays & concerts. She was honored as a key member of the music ministry of her church where she had served in various roles such as choir member, choir director, music director & organist over the past 50+ years. She was a member of the Martha Circle & United Methodist Women. In her retirement, she enjoyed attending elder hostels around the county & frequent reunions with her sister Women's Marine band members. She was a member of the Sleepy Eye Community Band. Her favorite summer activity was swimming at her cabin on Diamond Lake. She often expressed her greatest treasures were her children but gave up long ago trying to keep track of what they were currently doing. Attending sports events, choir & band concerts where her grandchildren performed were of great enjoyment. She was an active gardener and enjoyed taking care of her yard. Her many gifts to her children include her gift of music & her attitude of gratitude for the abundance in her life.
Survivors include, sons, Neil "Chuck" & Diane Case, Jr., Lee & Carol Case, of Sleepy Eye, and Scott & Anita Case of Princeton MN, daughters, Patricia Maltz of Minneapolis and Cindee Nelson & David Brand of Maple Plain, MN, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Neil, daughter, Peggy, brother, Walter and sister-in-law Janet, and sister-in-law, Mary & husband Clifford Kiecker.

Elaine Sheets, 88,of Comfrey, died on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Visitation will be at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel on Monday, May 17, 2004 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church - Sanborn, MN on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at 1:30 PM.
The Clergy will be Pastor William Ritchie.
Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Elaine Esther, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Werner) Juhnke was born November 16, 1915 near Sanborn, MN.
She is survived by her children, Donald Steffen of Sanborn; Lois Stadsvold of Starbuck; Carol Wendorff of Maple Lake; Marian Thorston, Jr. of Springfield; Jean Schiller of Comfrey; Ruth Thompson of Clear Lake; and stepdaughter Rita Wolf of Hastings; 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Esther Uecker, 93, of Gaylord, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Thursday, May 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Wednesday and 9-11 a.m., Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
She is survived by sisters, Lydia Menzel of Crosby and Betty Hart of Savage; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was born Sept. 5, 1910, in Crow County, to Gust and Bertha (Eschenbacher) Gruenhagen.

Carol Heidemann, 76, of Chicago, Ill, formerly of Nicollet, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2004, at St. James Manor Hospice Center after a short battle with cancer.
Services are 11 a.m., Sunday, May 30, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Ulm. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery.
Carol Heidemann was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Nicollet, the daughter of Henry and Eleanor (Stolt) Heidemann. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Church of Nicollet. She attended Nicollet School. After high school Carol moved to Chicago, attending the University of Chicago. Following graduation she worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Alaska. Carol returned to Chicago, working for the State of Illinois establishing daycare centers and working with Social Services. Carol was a loyal advocate for the well being of children and truly enjoyed being with children.
Carols is survived by brothers, Harold Heidemann of Gaylord and Donald "Bud" Heidemann of New Ulm, a sister, Ruth Meyer of Mankato, also by nine nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred Heidemann of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Reinhard (Reiny) Heidemann of Nicollet.
