Geraldine Verdeck, 59, of Hutchinson, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-9 a.m. Wednesday at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson and one hour prior to services at the church.
Geraldine was survived by her husband, Duane Verdeck of Hutchinson; children, Ryan Verdeck of Glencoe and Kari Verdeck of Clear Lake; and one grandchild.

Mary D. (O'Meara) Hacker of Medford, MA, died May 26, 2004. Dedicated and devoted military wife of the late Dennis H. Hacker Sr. Cherished Mother of Dennis Hacker Jr. and his wife Linda of Andover, MA, Mary Hacker-Lecount and her husband Robert of Franklin, MA, and Kathleen Hacker of Honolulu, HI. Beloved sister of John O'Meara and his wife "Bobbie" of Stoughton, MA, Paul O'Meara and his wife Marie of Burlington, MA, and the late Henry O'Meara. Devoted Aunt of Charlotte and Mike Ries of New Ulm, MN, and many nieces and nephews of MN and MA. Also survived by several extended family members of MN. Loving Grandmother of Dennis James Hacker, Nicholas Lecount and Amelia Hacker. Dear friend of Jo Basso of Medford, MA. Funeral from the GAFFEY FUNERAL HOME 43 HIGH STREET, MEDFORD SQUARE MEDFORD, MA Tuesday at 10 a.m.. Followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church 118 High St. Medford at 11 a.m.. Ardella R. Engel, 85, of Arlington, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington. Burial will be in Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday at Kolden Funeral Home, Arlington, and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband Herbert of Arlington; children, Reanette of Arlington, Dean of Shakopee and Lindell DuHamel of Hutchinson; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Walter of Courtland and Marlin Krohn of New Ulm.
She was born May 10, 1919, in Granby Township, Nicollet County to Fred and Theresa (Enter) Krohn.

Norman Ourada, 87, of Wabasso, formerly of Lucan, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday and continue Wednesday one hour prior to services in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan. There will be a parish prayer service Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church.
The Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Wabasso is handling the arrangements.

Nancy K. (Gafford) Schriefer, 59, of Cottage Grove since 1968.
Born on Feb. 22, 1945, in Santa Maria, CA, grew up in New Ulm, Minn.
Preceded in death by parents, William and Catherine Gafford of New Ulm; father-in-law, William Schriefer of New Ulm and her daughter, Kristin Leigh of Cottage Grove.
Survived by her husband, Donald of Cottage Grove; mother-in-law, Margaret Schriefer of New Ulm, MN; sisters: Mary Gribble of Shoreview, MN, Karen (John) Seifert of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Laura (Kevin) Beranek of St. George, MN; her brother, William (Cindy) Gafford Jr., of Chaska, MN; brother-in-law, Gerald Schriefer of New Ulm; three nephews; six nieces; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and many, many friends.
Nancy was a 1968 graduate of Minnesota State University in Mankato and was president of Prism Marketing, Inc. which she founded in 1985. She was the author of "A Message from Sam (Until Forever)."
Nancy died on May 29, 2004, in Hastings, Minn.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 1, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8694 80th Street, Cottage Grove.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. on Memorial Day at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80th Street, Cottage Grove, Ph. 651.459.2875.

David Spreiter, 68, of Buffalo, and formerly of Hector, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Coon Rapids.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, at the Buffalo Covenant Church in Buffalo.
Visitation is noon until the time of the service at the church.
On Wednesday, June 2, there will be a service at 2 p.m. at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector. Visitation is noon until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hector City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie, of Buffalo; children: Susan Spreiter of Chicago, Ill., Nancy Johnson of Buffalo, Daniel Spreiter of Luverne, and Jennifer Almquist (David) of Colfax, Wis.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; brothers: Theodore of Tulsa, Okla. and Stephen (Jo Lynn) of Litchfield.
He was born in St. Paul, Minn., on Nov. 20, 1935, to Florence (Mourer) and Leslie L. Spreiter.

Joel Keckeisen, 65, of 1430 Heinenhill in New Ulm died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with Pastor Hank Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section with full military honors being conducted by the New Ulm Veteran Organizations.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 - 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Joel is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Loren Dummer of Waconia; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Heather Keckeisen of New Ulm; grandchildren, Allison Keckeisen, Sam Keckeisen, and Mollie Dummer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gertrude and Vern Jondall of Crystal, Jacky Hinton of Coon Rapids, Kathy and Frank Durkot of Elk River; and a brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Rita Keckeisen of New Ulm; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Jean Keckeisen on June 24, 1992; a sister, Elizabeth Harris; sister-in-law, Alyce Hansen; and a brother-in-law, Bill Hinton.
Joel Edward Keckeisen was born on June 12, 1938, in New Ulm to Walter and Eva (Cooney) Keckeisen. He graduated from the New Ulm High School in 1956. From June 11, 1956, to June 1, 1959, he served in the U.S. Navy. On April 25, 1964 he married Donna Jean DeMinck at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm. He worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm for 36 years. He was a member of the Albert Nagel VFW Post #1648 in New Ulm.

Robert G. 'Bob' Maurer, 79, of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 3, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Samuel Perez officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Bob is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Lovejoy of Los Angeles, California; and his brother, Paul Maurer of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gertrude Maurer and Angela Maurer; and brothers, Jim Maurer and Joe Maurer.
Robert George Maurer was born on July 21, 1924, in Sleepy Eye to Frank and Margaret (Zwaschka) Maurer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He had worked as a bartender at Kalz Corner in New Ulm. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

Violet Komro, 86, of 1622 Center Street in New Ulm, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the Our Lady of Good Council Cancer Home in St. Paul.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, at the Bethany Retirement Convent Chapel in St. Paul with burial in the Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bethany Retirement Convent Chapel in St. Paul.
The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Violet is survived by her husband, Donald Komro of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Donald Casey of Prior Lake, Kathleen and Tom Fournelle of Racine, Wisconsin; sons, John Gregory O'Brien of Maplewood, Kevin James O'Brien of Afton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Donna and Thomas Haala of Madison Lake, Linda Schaefer and Darwin Stresemann of New Ulm; six stepgrandchildren; eleven stepgreat-grandchildren; and by a brother-in-law, Lawrence Komro of Daytona Beach, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Joseph O'Brien; and by her son, Terrance O'Brien.

Ruth Walden Mathiowetz On Thursday, May 27, 2004, Ruth Walden Mathiowetz went to join our Lord and to be with her husband Ambrose (Joe) who preceded her in death in March of 1999.
She was born on December 14, 1914 in Fulda, Iowa, the youngest of James and Ada Walden's seven children. They moved to Minnesota where she later met and married her husband in 1936.
Ruth was the proud mother of four boys; Dean (Cindy) of Gardena CA, Gary (Tamara) of Brainerd, MN, Tom of Littleton, CO and Dick (Donna) of Hastings, MN. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren; Kristin Spaberg (Bjorn), Becky Gregory (Bob), Michael; Lisa Matt (Lloyd), Michelle Duerre (Paul), Cory; Gregory, Christopher; Jill Sweeny (Al), Timm, Oleg, Svetlana and Brandon and five great-grandchildren; Annika and Jonas Spaberg, Darby Matt, Josie and Katie Duerre.
Ruth and Joe lived on a farm near Comfrey, MN and in 1942 moved to Franklin, MN where she worked as a cook in the nursing home and Senior Center for 40 years while Ambrose was the manager of the Franklin Creamery. Ruth found pleasure in family gatherings, sewing, gardening and baking. The two of them had several opportunities to travel extensively. They were members of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin until they relocated to Hastings in 1988.
Ruth most recently resided in the Regina Nursing Home in Hastings where she died very peacefully surrounded by family. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and big smile and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and six siblings; Lawrence (Dick), Ervin (Tom), Harold, Herman, Dorothy Bastian, and Elsie Peterson Best, two grandsons; Timm Mathiowetz and Oleg Kostyuk.
There will be a memorial service for Ruth on Saturday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin, MN followed by a graveside service for Ruth and Ambrose.
The family asks that memorials be preferred to the Regina Nursing Home Activities Department.

Joseph LeGare, 83, of Mankato, died Saturday May 29,20024, at his home.
Memorial service is 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with inurnment in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Woodland Hills Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Jens P. 'Jim' Christensen, 83, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Redwood Area Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 4, at First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls. Burial will be in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Thursday, at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service, Redwood Falls and Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Redwood Falls; daughters Carol Mueske of St. Charles, Beverly Hutchinson of Pisgah, Iowa; three grandchildren; brothers, Donald of Morgan and William of Redwood Falls; sisters Alice Dresow of Redwood Falls and Lois Pierson of St. Paul.
He was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Redwood Falls Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to Nels and Emma (Johnson) Christensen.
He served in the U.S. Army.
