Willard Kokesch, 79, of 321 North Front Street in New Ulm, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Cathedral of the Holy
Trinity in New Ulm with Father Samuel Perez officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, and will continue from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Willard is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and David Berg of New Ulm, Paulette and Nick Forst of St. George, Joleen Hahn and special friend, Gary Stueven both of New Ulm, Lori and Jeff Guth of New Ulm, Patty and Larry Thordson of St. Peter, and Carol Brackelsberg of New Ulm; a son, Ron Kokesch of New Ulm; nineteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Ervin Windschitl of Leavenworth and Mary Lou and Roman Huiras of Fairfax; and by brothers, Vernus Kokesch and special friend, Mary Ann Fischer both of Hutchinson, John and Delores Kokesch of Franklin, George and Jean Kokesch of New Ulm, and Davis and Dolores Kokesch of Gibbon, and by a sister-in-law, Carolyn Steinbach of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife, Jean, on March 24, 1992.
Willard Joseph Kokesch, the son of Adolph and Myra (Grossman) Kokesch was born on January 20, 1925, at the home place in West Newton Township, Nicollet County. On August 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Jean Stark in St. George. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where Willard worked for the Wallner Construction Company and at J & R Schugel Trucking before retiring. During retirement Willard enjoyed working part time for the City of New Ulm at the compost site. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm and a member of the Seifert Bianchi American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm. He had been a resident of the Oak Hills Nursing Home in New Ulm since May 18 of this year.
Willard enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harry Meyer, 86, of Gaylord, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m., Thursday, June 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m., Thursday, at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord; and one hour before the service at the church.

Gladys Rose, 77, of Arlington, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery in New Auburn Township.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington; and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by son Ronald Rose of Gaylord; daughters, Diane Lind of Hutchinson, Darlene Rose of Hutchinson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Gaylord, to Martin and Elsie (Gildmeister) Uecker.

Margaret Braulick, 78, of 1007 9th North Street in New Ulm, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 18, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Father John A. Richter will officiate.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday and 7:30 - 10 a.m., Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

Bernardt "Ben" L. Gieseke, 92,of Springfield, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Service of Remembrance is 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield. Clergy with be Chaplain Mary Pauluk. Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.
Arrangements with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Visitation is noon to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel, Springfield.

Bernardt "Ben" was born on Jan. 10, 1912, in Springfield, Minn., the son of Albert and Linda (Hoppe) Gieseke. He was baptized on April 4, 1913, in Raymond, Minn., and confirmed on March 28, 1926, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield. Ben married Esther Schenk on June 21, 1939, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield. The couple made their home in Springfield where Ben worked for Vigorena Feeds. Ben entered the United States Army during World War II and served from Oct. 27, 1942, until he was honorably discharged on Jan. 12, 1946. He returned to work at Vigorena Feeds in Springfield where he worked until retiring in 1975. Ben was a Cub Scout leader. He and Esther were awarded the Brown County Senor Citizens in 1985 and were also Minnesota State Campground Volunteer Hosts in 1983. After they retired they were "Winter Texans" for eight years and they were Green Lake Bible Camp Grandparents for two years. He was a 57-year member of the Springfield American Legion. He taught crafts at St. Paul's Bible School,volunteered many hours at the Springfield Hospital, St. Paul's Education Wing and the Springfield Legion Club additions
Ben enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He made over 70 crosses for St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed gardening and his family, especially his great-granddaughter Sequoia.
Survivors include his wife Esther Gieseke of Springfield, sons, James Gieseke of Springfield and Don Gieseke and special friend Sharolyn Gieseke of Mankato; grandchildren, Melissa Gieseke of Mankato, Julie and husband Tom Fasbender of Winona and their daughter Sequoia Robin, Michael Gieseke of Mankato, Sheldon Brandt of St. Peter and Shannon Brandt of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Hattie Jaenicke, 88, of Buffalo Lake, died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at the Fairfax Community Home.
Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 17, at the Zion Ev. Lutheran church in Buffalo Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Hughes Funeral Home handled arrangements.
She e is survived by her husband Glenn Jaenicke of Buffalo Lake; daughter Myrna Buerkle of Gibbon; son Gary Jaenicke of Buffalo Lake; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was born Nov. 13, 1915 in Moltke Township, Sibley County, Minn., to Dietrich and Sophie (Mueller) Dreyer.

He is survived by his wife, Esther of Lafayette; son, H. John of Foley; daughters, Diann Nojar of Ocala, Fla. and Betty Thissen of St. Paul; a sister, Mabel Wudalmann of Gaylord; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
He was born March 26, 1918 in Sibley Township, Sibley County to George and Herminnie (Franke) Meyer.

Nancy Parsons, 60, of Janesville, formerly of Butterfield, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at her home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Darfur with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Parsons of Janesville, Wis.; children, Jeff Parsons of Mt. Horeb, Wis., Bentley Parsons and Suzanne Parsons, both of Janesville; three grandchildren; brothers, Roger Flaming of California, James Flaming of Mountain Lake, Donald Wolle of Lake Crystal, Douglas Wolle of Darfur, and Charles Wolle of Mountain Lake.
She was born on March 28, 1944, at Butterfield to Alvin and Ilah Winnefred (Koenig) Flaming.

Charles 'Chuck' Richard Scharf, 47, of 1019 North Minnesota Street in New Ulm, died Friday, June 11, 2004, of a massive heart attack at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father Douglas Grams celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, and 7:30-a.m.- 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Charles is survived by a half brother; by his grandpa, Charles Scharf of Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm; aunts and uncles, Dale and Agnes Haack of New Ulm, Gordon and Karen Haack of New Ulm, Ron and Sharon Scharf of Bloomington, Bobbie Scharf of New Ulm, and Marion Scharf of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Scharf in 1993; his mother, Donna Scharf in 2003; and by his grandma, Fran Scharf.
Charles was born on August 21, 1957, in North Carolina to Charles and Donna (Haack) Scharf. He attended school at the New Ulm Public School. Chuck spent his time selling auto parts to restore old cars. He enjoyed going to the lake, boating, water skiing, and spending time with his friends.

Judith M. Steiner, 67, of Isanti and formerly of Forest Lake and Springfield, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at her home.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m., today at the Strike Funeral Home in Isanti.
Services are 2 p.m., Thursday June 17, at the Sundown Lutheran Church near Springfield with visitation for one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Burial will be at Sundown Lutheran Cemetery.
Local arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
She is survived by husband Ralph of Isanti; daughter Lisa Jett of Palestine, Texas; son, Anthony Steiner of Isanti; sisters, Bonita Jensen of Springfield, Greta Jensen of Springfield; and three grandchildren.
Judith Marilyn Steiner was born June 19, 1936, in Springfield Minn., to Otto and Margaret Bredvold.
