Brea Marie Nagengast, 19, of Maple Lake, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2004, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery, New Ulm.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials are preferred.
Brea Marie Nagengast was born April 4, 1985, in Colorado Springs, CO to Raymond and Mary (Domeier) Nagengast. She lived in Maple Lake and attended Maple Lake Public Schools from 1994-2003 when her health did not allow her to continue. Brea enjoyed writing and publishing poetry, volunteered at the Crossroads Pet Shelter, and was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
She is survived by her parents, Ray and Mary of Maple Lake; sister, Amy Spude and her husband, Greg of Sartell; brother, Ryan of Maple Lake; special friend, Kevin Yamagiwa of Maple Lake; grandparents, Kurt and Evelyn Domeier of New Ulm; great-grandmother, Rose Nagengast of Fort Benton, MT; also many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Martin J. and Bea Nagengast and an uncle, Edward.
The pallbearers will be Bill and Joe Nagengast, Joe and Tony Domeier, Liza Macho, and Charlie Tucker. The St. Ignatius Guitar Group will provide the music for the service.

Jerry Schuft, 67, of Brownton, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m., Monday, June 21, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Sunday and 8-9 a.m., Monday at Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Verna Niemann, 97, of 127 S. Franklin St., New Ulm, died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25 at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Frank Eichberger, 81, of Sleepy Eye died on Sunday, June 20, 2004 at his home.
The Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The clergy will be Father John Richter. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Wednesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Frank Eichberger was born December 4, 1922, in Bensenville, Ill., to Joseph and Anna (Prashartz) Eichberger. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. Frank Eichberger and Mary Sellner were married on November 8, 1947. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Frank farmed for 30 years. Frank was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the American Legion. In his retirement, Frank enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Eichberger of Sleepy Eye; daughters, Mary Jean and her husband David Janni of New Ulm, Monica and her husband Walt Duran of Bainbridge Island, WA, and JoAnn and her husband Glen Osmonson of Sleepy Eye; sons, Steve Eichberger of Springfield, Peter and his wife Jean Eichberger of Sleepy Eye, and Paul and his wife Elena Eichberger of Mankato; 11 grandchildren; a sister Mary Zembal of Aberdeen, WA; sisters-in-law, Marie Eichberger of Corpus Christi, TX and Fay Eichberger of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son John Eichberger on March 16, 1979; a sister Ray Wolf; brothers, Tony Eichberger, John Eichberger, and Bill and his wife Pauline Eichberger; and two half-sisters.

Mildred F. Schreyer, 88, of Rogers Arkansas, formerly of New Ulm, died Sunday June 20, 2004, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Jill and her husband, Bobby Adams of Rogers, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Nadene and her husband, Troy Weathers of Rogers, Arkansas, Darin Flikke, Jordan Flikke of Rogers, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Florence Gleisner of New Ulm; a niece, Jean and her husband Darv Baier of Bentonville, Arkansas; a nephew, Thomas and his wife, BeeDee Koop of Courtland; and by many cousins of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 62 years, Wallace H. Schreyer on September 26, 1998; brother Gordon Gleisner; and sister, Lillian Koop.
Mildred was born on August 8, 1915, in St. George to Isedor and Rose (Kokesch) Gleisner. She attended Holy Trinity School in New Ulm. On August 8, 1936, she married Wallace H. Schreyer at Freidens Church in New Ulm. Mildred and Wallace formed the Wallace Schreyer Sand and Gravel Construction Company in 1937. After retiring from the company in 1970, the couple moved to McAllen, Texas. They resided there for 23 years and then moved back to New Ulm. Mildred moved to Rogers in September of 2000 to live with her daughter.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, her dogs, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, sewing, gardening, and her wonderful lake view.

Christopher Guggisberg, 46, of Gibbon died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 24, at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m.., Wednesday and 7:30 - 10 a.m., Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Alex and Agnes Guggisberg of Gibbon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Lynn Flygare of Courtland, Christine and Jack Rossow of Duluth; brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Lynn Guggisberg of Gibbon, Ken Guggisberg of Gibbon, Kevin and Gail Guggisberg of New Ulm, William and Mary Guggisberg of Freeborn, Jon and Cathy Guggisberg of Jacksonville, Florida; 18 nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and by two nephews in infancy.
Christopher Donald Guggisberg was born July 9, 1957, in New Ulm, to Alex and Agnes ( Hanslick) Guggisberg. He attended school in Gibbon and was a 1975 graduate of Gibbon High School. After graduation, he farmed on the family farm and also owned and operated Guggisberg Landscaping. He loved his dogs, farming and cooking. He was a member of the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon and the St. Willibrord's Catholic Aid Council.

Verna Niemann, 97, of 127 S. Franklin St., New Ulm, died Saturday morning, June 19, 2004 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Rev. Henry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Verna Remmele, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Baugatz) Remmele, was born November 29, 1906, in Stark Township, Brown County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and attended District 39 country school near Sleepy Eye. Verna married Charles "Coggie" Niemann on October 31, 1936, in New Ulm. They made their home in New Ulm where she was employed by Dr. Hammermeister, Olson Drug Store and Schmucker Reliable Drug. She also owned and operated Coggie's Bar with her husband until their retirement in 1972. Her husband died April 20, 1987. Verna was a member of the United Church of Christ, a sixty-year member of the Turner Ladies, and a member of the Brown County Historical Society.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Margaret Fisch of Mesa, AZ, Sandra Borth and her husband Ron of New Ulm, Douglas Krueger of Owatonna, and Donn Bruess and his wife Audrey of Sleepy Eye. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews which include two special great- nieces, Michelle Foley and her husband Tom and Holly Ulrich and her husband Brad and two very special great great nieces, Katelyn and Kortney Ulrich. In addition to her husband, Verna was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie Hale, Florence Lendt, Viola Bruess, Mabel Krueger, and Mildred Koosmann; brother, Lenard, in infancy; niece, Inez Sucker and nephew, Charles Hale. Verna also leaves behind many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Delores (Dee) Ann Herzog, 78, of Norfolk, Nebraska, formerly of New Ulm, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the Regional Health Center in Norfolk.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Clergy for the Mass will be Fr. Douglas Grams. Burial will follow in the Soldiers Rest section of the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Delores Ann Stein, the daughter of George and Ella (Hempstead) Stein, was born December 14, 1925, in Aberdeen, SD. She attended New Ulm schools, graduating from New Ulm High School in 1944. Delores was united in marriage to John Herzog August 27, 1946, in New Ulm. Following their marriage, they lived in Bridgeport, Neb., before moving to Springfield, where they owned and operated a hardware store in the 1950s. The family moved to New Ulm in 1966. Dee worked as a secretary at 3M for 19 years, retiring due to poor health in 1985. Her husband died September 8, 1995. She moved to Norfolk, Neb., in 1998 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Russell McKillip. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Nelson and her husband Ward of Bridgeport, Neb., Beverly McKillip and her husband Russell of Norfolk, Neb.; son, Neil Herzog and his wife Angela of New Ulm; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Stein and his wife Ione of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Phyllis Herzog of Minnesota; brother-in-law, Howard Johnson of Arizona; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Dee was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two infant grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Johnson, and brothers-in-law, Robert and Eugene Herzog.

Delores G. Keute, 88, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 28, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Sunday and will continue from 7:30-10 a.m. on Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Cathedral. The St. Anne's Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m., and there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
Delores is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Chuck Leske of New Ulm, and Marlys and William Wilfahrt of Madison Lake; sons and daughters-in-law, Lester and Diane Keute of Palmdale, California, and Arlyn and Lois Keute of New Ulm; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland Keute on April 22, 1980; a grandson, Arlyn Keute II; three sisters; and three brothers;
Delores was born on June 30, 1915, in Kansas City, Missouri. to Martin and Bertha (Hartneck) Hettel. She attended school at Tyler, Minnesota. On April 24, 1938, she married Roland Keute at Lake Benton. She worked at the Wearwell Garment Factory and Kraft retiring in 1978. Delores loved crafts of all kinds. She enjoyed quilts, dolls, Christmas stockings, and clown dolls, but her biggest passion and real love were her roses and garden.
Her biggest joy was to be featured in New Ulm's yard of the month. Delores volunteered at the Highland Manor in New Ulm and the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters, the Christian Mothers Society and the St. Anne's Catholic Order of Foresters in New Ulm and the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Ruth Mary Furth, 81, of Ridgeway on German in New Ulm died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Father Douglas Grams celebrating. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Jane Nordin and Anne Zwach and partner Jeff Hickok all of Eagan, Mark Furth, Paul Furth and special friend, Denice Anderson, Ted Furth and his wife, Tammy all of New Ulm, David Furth and his wife, Sharon of W. St. Paul, and Steven Voracek and his wife, Tiffany of Chicago, Illinois, brothers, Don Stout and his wife, Dorothy and Bob Stout and his wife, Jean, all of California; sisters-in-law; Esther Stout of Wisconsin, Marie Miller of Iowa, Margaret Furth of Lamberton, Kris Neufeld of New York; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Herb and Mary Furth of Arizona, Tom Furth of California; and aunt, Pat Krautner of Wisconsin; daughters-in-law, Pat Furth of New Ulm and Lori Furth of Searles; and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, on January 11, 1984; a granddaughter, Jenine Furth; a sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Ken Simser; a brother, Dick Stout; and by special friend, Dennis Schnobrich.
Ruth Mary Furth, the daughter of David and Zada (Bassett) Stout was born on September 15, 1922 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She attended school in New Ulm and graduated from New Ulm Public High School class of 1940. On May 20, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Furth at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm raising their family. Ruth loved to entertain people, and had a beautiful sense of humor. Her love was spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. The family prefers memorials to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUACS) or to the donor's choice.

Norbert B. "Norbie" "Jr." Portner, 46, of 1127 North German Street in New Ulm died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at his home after a 26 year battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a rosary by the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral Home.
Norbert is survived by his parents, Norbert M. and Elizabeth "Betty" Portner of New Ulm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Tom Seifert of New Ulm, Lisa Portner of New Ulm, Mary and Gary Erbes of Marshall; a brother, Steven E. Portner of Burnsville; a niece, Julie Seifert; nephews, Bryan Seifert, Nick Erbes and Casey Erbes. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Norbert Bernard Portner was born June 22, 1958 in Renton, Washington to Norbert M. and Elizabeth (Homan) Portner. He attended New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in 1977. After graduation he served in the United States Air Force. Norbert enjoyed being with his family, playing cards, backgammon, and friends. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Disabled American Veterans, and the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council. He volunteered his time at the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and the New Ulm Senior Citizen's Center.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUACS) or to the donors choice.

Lorraine Sophia Elsing, age 82, of Springfield died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 28, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial at St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Father Dennis Labat officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 27 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., and Monday, June 28 from 7:30-10:00 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and a CCW Rosary on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
Condolences may be sent via e-mail to www.sturmfh.com. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
Lorraine Sophia Elsing was born March 18, 1922 in Wabasso, MN, the daughter of Anthony and Bertha (Suess) Welsch. She moved with her family as a young girl to Springfield and attended St. Raphael's Catholic School. Lorraine was united in marriage to Menno A. Elsing on March 26, 1940 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church. Following marriage they lived in Clements and Redwood Falls, and Lorraine moved back to Springfield in 1984 after her husband's death. She was one of the first tenants of Cottonwood Ridge Apartments and entered St. John Lutheran Home in October 2001. Lorraine was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and St. Anne's CCW, and was a former member of Christian Mothers at Clements. She enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, canning, and especially enjoyed her family.
Lorraine Sophia Elsing died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 82 years.
She is survived by daughter - Rose Marie Sellner of Springfield; 5 grandchildren - Kim and husband Tom Kleinwachter of Mentor, MN, Mike and wife Ann Rothmeier of Springfield, Rick and wife Jolanda Rothmeier of Beaver, OK, Vicky and husband Matthew Krueger of Springfield, and Amy and husband Eric Houchens of Avanio, Italy; 15 great grandchildren; and brothers - Fred and wife Caroline Welsch of Springfield, Russell and wife Helen Welsch of Clements, and Donald Welsch of Redwood Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister - Delorse Dietl; brothers - Anthony, Jr., James and Clarence; a daughter in infancy; and great grandson - Adam Kleinwachter.
