Marie Hyatt
April 23, 1920–Nov. 23, 2000

Marie "Baby" Hyatt, 80, Waubun, died Thursday, Nov. 23, at the Mahnomen Health Center.
There was a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, from Lake Grove Lutheran Church, rural Waubun.
Rev. Melody Kirkpatrick officiated at the service, Sue Heisler was the organist and the vocalist was Lloyd Benson.
Interment was at Lake Grove Lutheran Cemetery, with the Anderson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Marie Adams, daughter of John and Anna Fagre Adams, was born east of Waubun on April 23, 1920.
She grew up and attended school in that area and married Burtis Hyatt at Mahnomen on May 31, 1939.
They made their home east of Waubun until moving into Waubun in 1961.
A lifelong member of Lake Grove Lutheran Church, Mrs. Hyatt taught Sunday School for many years.
During the past several years, the Hyatts traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. She enjoyed fishing and was an avid gardener.
Surviving are her husband–Burt, Waubun, and a brother–Donald (Donna) Adams, Mesa, Ariz. There is one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. Hyatt in death were her parents, a daughter (Carol Jean), a sister and two brothers.

Raymond S. Pojar
March 25, 1929–Nov. 24, 2000

Raymond S. Pojar, 71, a retired Callaway area farmer, died at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes on Friday, Nov. 24.
The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Callaway.
Rev. James Wasmuth officiated at the funeral and Glenise Donley was the organist.
Interment was at Richwood Lakeside Cemetery, with the West-Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Gary Bakken, Kelly Shipman, Richard Bakken, Jon Gobel, Mike Ahles and Mark St. Cyr.
Raymond S. Pojar, son of Steve and Hilda Luedke Pojar, was born March 25, 1929, at Rosalie, Nebr., moved with his family to the Callaway area in 1942 and served with the U. S. Army from 1951-53, when he was stationed in Germany.
He returned to the farmily farm following his discharge from the armed forces and retired from farming and moved into Callaway in 1981.
He moved into Emmanuel Nursing Home in May of this year.
Surviving are a brother–Duane (Ruth) Pojar, Detroit Lakes, and a sister–Charlotte (Ray) Bakken, Detroit Lakes. There are three nephews, three nieces and seven great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pojar was preceded in death by his parents.

Warren Pihlstrom
May 27, 1915–Nov. 29, 2000

Warren Pihlstrom, 85, a former Detroit Lakes resident, died at his home in Columbiaville, Mich., on Wednesday, Nov. 29.
Warren Pihlstrom was born at Strandquist on May 27, 1915, and married Eleanore Olson on Aug. 17, 1941.
An employee of the Soo Line Railway Co., he was an agent for the railway for 42 years until retiring in 1975.
Mr. Pihlstrom was a member of First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes and enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a member of the Hole In One Club.
Surviving are a son–Robert (Kathleen) Pihlstrom, Columbiaville, Mich., and a daughter–Paula (John) Greenwald, Blaine. There are three grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
Preceding him in death was his wife, who died in 1996.
Visitation: Monday, Dec. 4, West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interment to be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes.
Memorials: Preferred to First Lutheran Church or Genesys Hospice in Goodrich, Mich.
The Allen Funeral Home of Davison, Mich., has charge of arrangements.

Carl F. Jacobson
Sept. 4, 1911–Nov. 25, 2000

Carl F. Jacobson, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Sunnyside Care Center east of Lake Park, where he had resided for several years.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from Strandvik Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park.
Rev. David Hurtt officiated at the funeral and Audrey Savig was the organist.
Interment was at the church Cemetery, with the Vigen-Wright Funeral Home of Lake Park in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Larry Goranson, Brian Dahlgren, Lyle Dahlgren, Bruce Jacobson, Mark Nielsen and Norman Nelson.
Carl F. Jacobson, son of Axel and Amanda Carlson Jacobson, was born in Cormorant Township of Becker County on Sept. 4, 1911, and was a lifelong Cormorant Township resident.
He graduated from School District No. 50 and then worked on various area farms. In later years, he was a daycare provider for the elderly.
Surviving is a brother–Ernest (Marion Dahlberg) Jacobson. There are six nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were two brothers (Gustav Edvald, who was known as "Ed" and Ralph, who died in infancy.

James Roland Rousu
Jan. 15, 1996–Nov. 18, 2000
James Roland Rousu, 4-year-old son of Roland and Rachelle Rooney Rousu, died Saturday, Nov. 18.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from the Office of Indian Ministry in Minneapolis.
Interment was at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis.
James Rousu was born Jan. 15, 1996.
Surviving are his parents–Rachelle and Roland, Callaway; his grandparents–Mary Perry, White Earth, and David and Delores Rousu, Callaway, and his great-grandparents–Lorraine Perry and Murray and Jan Perry, all Minneapolis, and Helen Mursu, Amarillo, Tex. Also surviving are aunts, uncles and cousins.

Clifford Mosher
June 11, 1916–Nov. 23, 2000
Clifford Mosher, 84, a rural Eagle Lake resident, died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 23.
The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, from the Mankato Mortuary, with a minister from the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating.
Clifford Mosher, son of John C. and Agnes Wilson Mosher, was born in LeRay Township of Blue Earth County on June 11, 1916.
He farmed and also did custom combining and baling. He enjoyed fishing and travel.
Surviving is a brother–Ray (Mabel) Mosher, Ogema. There are many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
His parents and five brothers, including his twin, preceded him in death.

Joel August Aho
Sept. 24, 1916–Nov. 27, 2000

Joel August Aho, 84, died Monday, Nov. 27, at his home in Wolf Lake Township of Becker County.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, from the Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church.
Rev. Elmer Yliniemi officiated at the funeral and Marge Kumma was the organist.
Interment was at the Balmi Cemetery, with the Cardini-Behrens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Elias Aho, Reuben Aho, Raymond Aho, Joshua Aho, Harry Aho and Harvey Aho.
Joel August Aho, son of Jacob and Anna Rosendahl Aho, was born in Wolf Lake Township on Sept. 24, 1916.
He was raised and attended school in that area and, upon completing school, worked on the family farm. He also was a carpenter and was involved in the construction of numerous buildings, including the Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church.
A member of the Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church, he served on the church board, was sexton of Balmi Cemetery for a number of years and was involved in the Aho farm operation.
Surviving are two brothers–Arvo (Jacob of Jaako) Aho, Wolf Lake, and Raphael (Linda) Aho, Menahga, and a sister-in-law–Elsie Aho, Wolf Lake. There are many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mr. Aho in death were his parents, five sisters (Helmi, Anna, Ilma, Alli and Rauha) and five brothers (Uno, Urho, Toivo, Hugo and Paul).
