Lucille H. Noltimier
May 17, 1905–Dec. 12, 2000
Lucille H. Noltimier, 95, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Sunnyside Nursing Home east of Lake Park, where she had been a resident since 1993.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
The David-Donehower Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Lucille Lawrence, daughter of Frank and Louise Roback Lawrence, was born May 17, 1905, in Thief River Falls and moved to Fergus Falls with her family as a young girl. The family later moved to Fargo, where Lucille graduated from high school.
On June 2, 1926, she and Andrew Lindvig were married in Fargo. Mr. Lindvig died in 1940 and she and Charles F. Noltimier were married on March 25, 1942.
They lived in Seattle, Wash.; Chicago, and in Minneapolis, where Mr. Noltimier established the Practical Trades Institute.
Upon retiring in 1953, they moved to Detroit Lakes. Mr. Noltimier died in 1976.
Mrs. Noltimier continued to make her home in Detroit Lakes following her husband’s death and also spent the winter months in Mesa, Ariz.
She moved to Bethany Homes in Fargo in 1989 and then to Sunnyside four years later.
Surviving are a son–Andrew (Joyce) Lindvig, Detroit Lakes, and a sister–Corrine Airheart, Detroit Lakes. There is one grandson, one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Noltimier also was preceded in death by her parents and a sister (Mildred Helgeson).

Mildred A. LeRud
Dec. 9, 1906–Dec. 13, 2000
Mildred A. LeRud, 94, who for many years was involved in various phases of Lutheran Church activities, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, from First Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mervin Thompson officiating.
Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Twin Valley, with the West-Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mildred Erickson, daughter of Gustav and Otilie Halvorson Erickson, was born Dec. 9, 1906, in Moorhead.
She moved to a farm near Twin Valley as a young girl, attended the Home Lake School, Twin Valley High School, Ada High School and then took teacher training in Ada, after which she taught school in Norman County for three years.
On June 2, 1927, Mildred Erickson and Clifford LeRud were married in Havre, Mont.
They lived in Portland, Ore., from 1928-46, and then moved to San Francisco, where she was involved with her husband’s insurance agency.
Mrs. LeRud served as a Sunday School superintendent for 30 years and later held leadership roles in local, conference, district and national levels of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Federation and of the American Lutheran Church.
For three years, she was president of the national ALCW and traveled to Evian, France, as a delegate to the Lutheran World Federation meeting.
The LeRuds returned to Minnesota in 1980 and settled in Detroit Lakes.
Surviving are three daughters–Rev. Bonnie (Clint) Bell, Felton, Calif.; Marilyn (Rev. Ronald) Thoreson, Sacramento, Calif., and Lois (Steve) Jensen, San Antonio, Tex., and a sister–Agnes Carlander, Santa Barbara, Calif. There are 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband (who died in 1991), her parents, three brothers (Elmer, Henning and Carol) and four sisters (Constance Brattlund, Gladys Gunderson, Esther Bergeson and Ruth Ingebretson).

Gerard H. "Jar" Erickson
Oct. 30, 1948–Dec. 10, 2000
Gerard H. "Jar" Erickson, 52, a former Detroit Lakes resident, died Sunday, Dec. 10, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, N. D.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, from Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes.
Interment will be at the church Cemetery, with the David-Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gerard Harlen Erickson, son of Everett D. and Evelyn M. Sammons Erickson, was born at Detroit Lakes on Oct. 30, 1948.
He grew up in Detroit Lakes, graduated from Detroit Lakes High School (Class of 1966) and then served four years with the U. S. Navy, when he saw action during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Erickson returned to Detroit Lakes following his discharge from the armed forces, was employed at Snappy Air Distribution, served as a police officer in Audubon and also was a bartender in Detroit Lakes.
He moved to Minot in 1987, where he worked at Motor Services, an auto parts store. He purchased M & E Transfer in Minot in 1996, which he owned and operated until his death.
A member of Jess-Omundson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1676 of Detroit Lakes, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Surviving are his mother–Evelyn Erickson, Detroit Lakes; his companion–Donna Selzer, Minot; three daughters–Shelly (Bobby) Brogren and Toni (Dennis) Edwards, all of Detroit Lakes, and Alicia Haverkamp, Ogema; two sons–Mike (Jean) Erickson, Detroit Lakes, and Todd (Rayna) Erickson, Duluth, and a brother–Jim Erickson, Detroit Lakes. There are seven grandchildren and three nieces.
Preceding him in death were his father (who died in 1985) and a brother (Duane, who died in 1977).
Visitation: Wednesday, David-Donehower Funeral Home, 4-8 p.m. Also one hour prior to funeral at Bakke Lutheran Church.

Edgar Isaiah DeGoat
Jan. 29, 1924–Dec. 11, 2000
Edgar Isaiah DeGroat, 76, died Monday, Dec. 11, at his home at Ogema.
There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at the David-Donehower Chapel in Detroit Lakes, with Fr. Ron Meyer officiating.
The David-Donehower Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Edgar Isaiah DeGroat, son of Frank and Anna Kronk DeGroat, was born near Ogema on Jan. 29, 1924.
He was raised and attended school in the Ogema area and served with the U. S. Army Air Corps in Germany, England and in the United States.
Mr. DeGroat and Dorothy Margaret Glenn were married on July 2, 1946, in Coleraine, Ireland.
He retired from the armed forces in 1963, they moved to Ogema and he farmed for two years. Mrs. DeGroat died in 1965 and he moved to Minneapolis, where he was employed by the Mechanics Testing Corp. in Eden Prairie. Upon retiring from that employment in 1975, he returned to Ogema.
Surviving are four sons–Ronald, St. Cloud; Edgar Jr. (Sumi), Huntsville, Ala.; Kevin (Traci), Fairfax, Va., and David (Patty), Ogema; a daughter–Gloria (Don) Smith, Albany, Ga., and a sister–Mae Earnst, Chanhassen. There are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. DeGroat also was preceded in death by a daughter (Susan), his parents, four brothers (Frank, Lester, Gilbert and Oscar), five sisters (Pearl, Eva, Cora, June and Lydia) and a granddaughter.

Ethan Jacob Bellefeuille
Nov. 30, 2000–Dec. 11, 2000
Ethan Jacob Bellefeuille, the infant son of Paul and Kristi Bellefeuille of Detroit Lakes, died at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo on Monday, Dec. 11.
There will be a private family funeral.
Interment will be at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Callaway, with the David-Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ethan Jacob Bellefeuille was born in Fargo on Nov. 30, 2000.
Surviving are his parents–Paul and Kristi Bellefeuille, Detroit Lakes; two brothers–Michael and Tyler, at home, and his grandparents–Alice Duchene, Detroit Lakes, and Duane and Marian Bellefeuille, Perham. There are many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joseph Dwyer
May 6, 1918–Dec. 15, 2000
Rites were held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes for Joseph Dwyer.
Mr. Dwyer, 82, died Friday, Dec. 15, at his home in Detroit Lakes.
Mr. Dwyer, son of John R. and Mary M. Murray Dwyer, was born in Minnesota on May 6, 1918.
He served with the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Dwyer and Loretta Savageau were married in Fargo in 1940 and he married Marion Nasset Nelson at West Fargo on Dec. 28, 1984.
A truck driver, Mr. Dwyer earned an award from the Teamsters Union for being citation-free and accident-free during 1.5 million miles of driving.
Surviving are his wife Marion, Detroit Lakes; six children, Thomas Dwyer, Fargo, Dennis (Patricia) Dwyer and Larry Dwyer, both of, Denver, Colo., and Richard (Louise) Dwyer, Gary Dwyer and Sharon (Lowell) Eckart, all of Eugene, Ore.; four step-children, Phillip (Marian) Nelson, Ogema, Todd (Melanie) Nelson, Wolf Lake, and Tracy Nelson and Mark Nelson, both of St. Paul; two brothers, Clyle (Helen), Fargo, and Sylvester (Mary), Sioux City, Iaowa; and five sisters, Mae (Berdeen) Blankenship, The Dalles, Ore., Bernadine Krieir, San Gabriel, Calif., Lucille Donahue, Fargo, Patricia (Bill) Mikkelson, Livonia, Mich., and Dorothy (Jerry) Storrud, Butte, Mont.; 23 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ella P. Sanden
Nov. 16, 1901–Dec. 15, 2000
Services were held Monday, Dec. 18, at Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes for Ella P. Sanden.
Mrs. Sanden, 99, died Friday, Dec. 15, at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, where she had been a resident for the past 10 years.
Rev. Mark R. Olson officiated at the funeral and Phyllis McLeod was the organist.
Interment was at First Lutheran Cemetery in Audubon.
The pallbearers were Michael Johnson, Mark Johnson, Mark Kindy, Matthew Kindy, Jason Leitheiser and Travis Leitheiser.
Ella Malvick, daughter of Peder and Ellen Brandlie Malvick, was born on Nov. 16, 1901, in Minneapolis.
She moved to Audubon as a young girl and attended school.
On Dec. 20, 1929, she and Albert Sanden were married in Detroit Lakes.
They farmed at rural Detroit Lakes until moving into Detroit Lakes in 1943, moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area in the mid-1950s and then returned to Detroit Lakes upon retiring in 1965.
Mrs. Sanden enjoyed flowers and baking.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Johnson, Detroit Lakes, and Deedee (Richard) Kindy, St. Louis Park; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband (who died Dec. 9, 1985), her parents, two sisters (Olive Nelson and Sophie Norby) and a brother (Edwin).
