Russell Lhotka
Sept. 28, 1925 - March 3, 2001
Russell Lhotka, 75, Mahnomen, died at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo on Saturday, March 3.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, from the Anderson Chapel in Mahnomen, with Vernon Olson officiating.
Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Mahnomen, with the Anderson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Duane Lhotka, Ken (Junior) Lhotka, Steve Lhotka, David Lhotka, Brian Lhotka and Craig Miller.
Russell F. Lhotka, son of Frank and Ida Hendrickson Lhotka, was born near Bagley on Sept. 28, 1925, and moved with his family at the age of eight to a farm north of Mahnomen, where he grew up and attended school.
He farmed with his father until his marriage to Jean Rukke at Mahnomen on May 28, 1949.
They farmed north of Mahnomen until 1960 and then moved south of Mahnomen. Mr. Lhotka managed the St. Pierre farm and ranch for seven years and they then moved north of Mahnomen. They purchased two additional farms east of Mahnomen and also leased the Chippewa Ranch, where they raised Angus cattle. They retired in the early 1990s.
Mr. Lhotka was associated with Kingdom Hall in Fertile, enjoyed horses and served as president of the Mahnomen Riders Club. He also enjoyed trapping, hunting and travel.
Surviving are his wife - Jean, Mahnomen; two daughters - Linda (David) Kirsch, Waubun, and Susan Johnson, Fosston; two brothers - Kenneth, Waubun, and Myron (Darlene), Mahnomen, and five sisters - Bernice (Jim) Dandridge, Gore, Okla.; Violet Bjerke, Chandler, Ariz.; Vivian Aarestad, Mesa, Ariz.; Cleona (Bucky) Wang, Halstad, and Yvonne (Leslie) Underlee, Dalhart, Tex. There are five grandsons.
Preceding Mr. Lhotka in death were his parents.

Bonnie Wadena
Aug. 12, 1942 - March 5, 2001
Bonnie Wadena, 58, died at her home at Naytahwaush on Monday, March 5.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, from St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Naytahwaush.
Fr. Ron Meyer, O. M. I., will officiate at the service, Tim Brown and Bill Brown will be guest ministers, Jeanette LaGue will be the organist, special music will be by Willie Atkinson and Marlin Hunt and Dan Aird will be the bagpiper.
Interment will be at the church Cemetery, with the Mattson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers will be Donald Roy, Jessie Londo, Darrell Boone Wadena, Joe Bush Jr., Jeff Coleman and David Burnette.
The honorary pallbearers will include Debra Reyes, Amy Big Bear, Carol Bunker, Bonnie LaFriniere, Kristie Crandall and Connie DeGroat.
Bonnie Londo, daughter of Malcom and Harriet Emerson Londo, was born Aug. 12, 1942, in White Earth.
She grew up and attended school in Naytahwaush and Mahnomen and married Chip Wadena in Naytahwaush on April 7, 1962.
Following their marriage, they lived in Crookston for a few years before returning to Naytahwaush.
Mrs. Wadena was the first cook for the White Earth Elderly Nutrition Program and also worked for several years for Head Start as a cook, aide and a teacher.
For the past few years, she was employed as an aide at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home and, last fall, returned to work for Head Start.
Mrs. Wadena was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and the Full Gospel Alliance at Naytahwaush.
Surviving are her husband - Chip; four sons - Tony (Tammy), Darrell "Smokey" Jr. (Michelle) and David, all of Naytahwaush, and Shannon "Sam" (Lisa), Bemidji; three daughters - Ann (Mike) Brown and Serena Oppegard, both Naytahwaush, and Tracy (Jack) Fabre, Waubun; her father - Malcom (Opal) Londo, Hendrum; her grandmother - Ruth Pollett, Avon, Ill.; five brothers - Merlin, Moorhead, and Ray, Corvin (Arlene), Louis and Joel (Lynette), all of Naytahwaush, and eight sisters - Ardyce McCradie, Grandon, N. D.; Leah Hagen, Eileen (Earl) McDougall, Dawn Londo (Curt) and Myra Londo (Rick), all of Naytahwaush; Candace (Will) Peters, Portland, Ore., and Loris Londo (Floyd) and Lynn (Duane) Spry, both of Grand Portage. There are 20 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 7, after 5 p.m. at Naytahwaush Sports Complex, with prayer service at 7.

Myrna B. Pearson
Sept. 17, 1909 - March 4, 2001
Myrna B. Pearson, 91, died at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes on Sunday, March 4.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, from Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior, Wis., with Rev. David Eckman officiating.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, with the David - Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Myrna Amundson, daughter of Olaf and Anna Nelson Amundson, was born Sept. 17, 1909, in Superior, Wis.
She was raised and attended school in Superior and married Frederick Pearson in Superior on Aug. 27, 1932.
They lived in Superior following their marriage. Mr. Pearson died in 1984 and she moved to Detroit Lakes in 1996.
Surviving are two sons - Roger (Donna), Superior, Wis., and David, Madison, Wis.; a daughter - Arlene (Lloyd) Olson, Detroit Lakes, and a sister - Dorothy Ofstad, Monterey Park, Calif. There are six grandchildren and seven great - grandchildren.
Visitation: One hour prior to funeral at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Grant V. Terryll.
May 28, 1917 - March 5, 2001
Grant V. Terryll, 83, died Monday, March 5, at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, where he had been a resident since August of last year.
The funeral will be at the West - Kjos Chapel in Detroit Lakes at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 9.
Rev. Tim Cook will officiate at the funeral.
Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Grant V. Terryll, son of Vernon and Julia Whaley Terryll, was born May 28, 1917, in Moorhead.
He grew up and attended school in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School.
Mr. Terryll served for 20 years in the U. S. Army and saw duty in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
During his time in the armed forces, he was stationed in various places, primarily in Germany and Okinawa.
Grant Terryll and Elsie I. Oxtra were married on July 21, 1942 in Neosho, Mo.
Upon receiving his discharge from the U. S. Army, they moved to Detroit Lakes and he was employed at the U. S. Post Office in Detroit Lakes from 1966 - 80.
Surviving are a son - Stanley (Angela) Terryll, White Bear Lake; two daughters - Judy (Bill) Adams, Lakeville, and Susan (Terry) Stephenson, Detroit Lakes, and a sister - Jeanne Dahnke, Rochert. There are seven grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Terryll in death were his parents and a grandson (who died in infancy).
Visitation: Thursday, March 8, 5 - 7 p.m., West - Kjos Funeral Home.

William Joseph "Whiz" Brown
May 12, 1931 - March 8, 2001
William Joseph "Whiz" Brown, 69, died Thursday, March 8, at his home in White Earth.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, from St. Columba Episcopal Church in White Earth, with Fr. Mike Smith officiating.
Interment was at the church Cemetery, with the David - Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Dennis Brown Jr., Donald Dakota, Chad Dakota, David Nicholson, Ronald Bellanger and Brian Wichern.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the WERTC maintenance department, along with Ruby Weaver, Wayne Makey, David Roy, Bob Hanks, Orville Belland and Mr. Brown’s family and friends.
William Joseph Brown, son of John William and Rose Susan Roy Brown, was born May 12, 1931, in White Earth.
He grew up and attended school in White Earth and later attended school in Waubun.
From 1951 - 54, he served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War and, upon receiving his discharge, he returned to White Earth and worked at the White Earth School for 25 years. He had a companion (Vera Critt) for several years.
On Oct,. 21, 1976, William Brown and Irene Wichern were married in Detroit Lakes.
He began working for the White Earth RTC maintenance department in 1990 and was employed there at the time of his death.
He enjoyed coaching and playing baseball and dancing.
Surviving are a daughter - Bernice Brown, Detroit Lakes; three step - daughters - Barbara and Dawn Wichern, both Cloquet, and Sonja Wichern, Pipestone; three step - sons - Michael and Brian Wichern, both Cloquet, and Patrick Wichern, Waubun, and a brother - Dennis (Lettie), Minneapolis. There are 22 grandchildren and seven great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Brown in death were his parents, his wife (who died in 1999), a step - daughter (Sandra), two sisters, nine brothers, two grandchildren and two great - grandchildren.
