Averille L. Tiegen
July 16, 1909 - Aug. 15, 2000
Averille L. Tiegen, 91, a resident of the Detroit Lakes area most of her life, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, at St. Mary’s Nursing Center.
There was a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, from the West - Kjos Chapel, with Rev. Tim Cook officiating.
Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Averille L. Swick, daughter of Erastus and Elizabeth Wright Swick, was born at Detroit Lakes on July 16, 1909, grew up here and graduated from Detroi t Lakes High School (Class of 1928).
She and Donald Teigen were married on May 11, 1940, and moved to Seattle, Wash., during World War II, where Mr. Teigen was employed in the shipyards.
They returned to Detroit Lakes following the war and she worked as a waitress at Frenzel’s Cafe for 25 years before retiring in the late 1960s.
Mr. Teigen died on July 17, 1973, and she then moved to Park Manor, where she resided until May of this year.
Mrs. Teigen enjoyed reading and playing cards.
Surviving are a son - Peter (Carol) Teigen, Hawley, along with two grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter (Pamela Houglum, who died Sept. 16, 1992), her parents, three brothers and eight sisters.

Donald E. Fulp
April 13, 1944 - Aug. 25, 2000
Donald E. Fulp, 56, died at his Cormorant Lake home on Friday, Aug. 25.
The funeral was at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, from Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating.
The David - Donehower Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Donald E. Fulp, son of Howard and Evelyn Hagen Fulp, was born at Fargo on April 13, 1944.
He graduated from Fargo Central High School (Class of 1962), from North Dakota State University and then completed two years of graduate study at North Dakota State.
Mr. Fulp taught in the North Dakota State University System for 31 years, mostly at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton.
He and Kay Schultz were married at Detroit Lakes in 1966.
Surviving are his wife - Kay, Audubon; a son - John (Michelle), Grand Forks, N. D.; a daughter - Kari (Andy) Lawrence, Alpine, Utah, and a brother - David, Richmond, Va. There are four grandchildren.

Norbert B. “Norb” Inderrieden
Aug. 26, 1919 - Aug. 25, 2000
Norbert B. “Norb” Inderrieden, 80, a longtime Detroit Lakes resident, died at his home on Friday, Aug. 25.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, from Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating.
Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery, with the David - Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Ryan Roforth, Travis Jager, David Unrau, Trent Leshovsky, Kyle Leshovsky, Matt Riewer, Curt DeGroat and Bob Bjorge.
The honorary pallbearers included Nathan Matjka, Lanette Inderrieden, Gary Challen, Roger Sanders, Charles Jager, Richard Roforth, Lawrence Unrau, Jim Clarey, Kirby Inderrieden, Jimmy Clarey, Ted Unrau, Nicole Faulds and Tony Faulds.
Military rites were provided by Jess - Omundson Post No. 1676, the Detroit Lakes chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Norbert Bernard Inderrieden, son of Bernard and Marie Mehr Inderrieden, was born at Sauk Centre on Aug. 26, 1919.
He moved with his family to Ogema as a child, attended school there and served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Upon receiving his discharge from the armed forces, he worked at the Studebaker Garage in Detroit Lakes and then was with the Minnesota Department of Conservation until retiring in 1984.
Norbert Inderrieden and Georgia Burgess were married at Detroit Lakes on Dec. 22, 1949.
Surviving are six daughters - Vivian (Gary) Challen, Tampa, Fla.; Noreen (Roger) Sanders and Rose (Richard) Roforth, both Frazee; Georgeen (Charles) Jager, Rochert; Amy (Lawrence) Unrau, Winnipeg, Man., Canada, and Jane (Jim) Clarey, Detroit Lakes; a brother - Ray (Fran), Idaho, and three sisters - Lynn Johnson, Florida, and Ella “Dolly” Bloom and Caroline Ressler, both Minneapolis. There are 27 grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Inderrieden in death were his wife (who died in 1990), a son (Bernard “Butch”) and several brothers and sisters

Wayne A. Joern.
Feb. 22, 1917 - April 17, 2000
There was a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, at St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery in White Earth for Wayne A. Joern.
Mr. Joern, 83, a former resident of Ogema and White Earth, died at Spokane, Wash., on Monday, April 17.
Fr. Mike Smith officiated at the service, with the David - Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wayne A. “Red” Joern, son of Arthur and Ida Mae Warren Joern, was born at Fosston on Feb. 22, 1917.
He moved with his family as a child to Ogema and then to White Earth, where he attended school.
During his working life, Mr. Joern served with the U. S. Army, primarily with the Counter Intelligence Agency (CIA). Upon his discharge in 1966, he was employed with the U. S. Postal Service until retiring in 1976.
Mr. Joern was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are two sons - David, Spokane, Wash., and Dennis, Dalkena, Wash., and a sister - Doris Crow, St. Vincent. There is one grandson.
Preceding Mr. Joern in death were his wife (Dorothy, who died in 1979) and a brother (Bud).

Hattie A. Lindne
Oct. 28, 1905 - Aug. 8, 2000
Hattie A. Lindner, 94, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, where she had resided since 1997.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, from Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.
Rev. David G. Hahn officiated at the funeral, Betty Kohler was the organist and Rev. Hahn was the soloist.
Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Michael Ziegler, Robert Ziegler, Jim Gilbertson Jr., Arland Brase, Todd McGovern and Greg Leiner.
Hattie A. Lindner, daughter of William and Louisa Schultz Lindner, was born Oct. 28, 1905, in Erie Township of Becker County and grew up and attended school at rural Detroit Lakes.
From 1930 - 43, she was employed at the L. J. Norby Co. in Detroit Lakes and then moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for Lila’s Apparel and managed Uptown Modes Ladies Aparel from 1943 - 51.
She returned to Detroit Lakes in 1951 and worked at the L. J. Norby Co. until retiring in 1970.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Miss Lindner belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), formerly belonged to the Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPWC) and also to the Women’s Division of the Detroit Lakes Chamber of Commerce. She also did volunteer work for the RSVP program at Emmanuel Nursing Home and at the Detroit Lakes Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are a niece, a nephew and a sister - in - law - Stella Land, Detroit Lakes. There are five great nieces and nephews and nine great - great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers (Arthur and Edwin) and a sister (Elsie Ziegler).

Kenneth Johnson
May 19, 1938 - Aug. 8, 2000
Kenneth Johnson, 62, a resident of the Strawberry Lake area, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, from Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley.
Rev. Loren Fevig officiated at the funeral, Ruth Lerud was the organist and the vocalists were Harlan and Sylvia Bueng.
Interment was at the Syre Lutheran Cemetery, with the Anderson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Dan Johnson, Doyle Johnson, Kerry Johnson, Steve Johnson, Christopher Wagner and Alyssa Wagner.
Military rites were by Nesseth - Lien American Legion Post No. 431 and Flom - Twin Valley Post No. 3818 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Kenneth Johnson, son of Albert and Emma Knutson Johnson, was born near Ulen on May 19, 1938.
He graduated from Twin Valley High School (Class of 1956) and served from 1957 - 59 in the U. S. Army.
Upon receiving his discharge from the armed forces, he returned to Twin Valley and was employed for many years by Meinecke - Johnson Construction Co. of Fargo. He lived at Fargo, Moorhead and Detroit Lakes during that time.
He moved to the Strawberry Lake area in 1983 and was employed by Winter Masonry of Ogema for several years until retiring due to ill health.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing and was a member of the Eagles, John Bridges American Legion Post No. 15 in Detroit Lakes and the Moose Lodge over the years.
Surviving are a daughter - Sherry (Steve) Wagner, Hancock; two brothers - Arne (Marguerite), Rollag, and Derral, Fertile, and four sisters - Eunice (Harold) Hirchert, Tacoma, Wash.; Annabelle (Donald) Straight, Moorhead; Lois (Harley) Smith, Morrison, Tenn., and Grace (Charles) Dvorak, Bellingham, Wash. There are two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister (Genevieve) and a brother (Burnette).
