Alvin Norbert Braget
Nov. 7, 1925 - July 2, 2000
Alvin Norbert Braget, 74, a resident of Mizpah, died Sunday, July 2, at the home of his son in Cloquet.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 10, from Hope Lutheran Church in Northome, with Rev. Tom Scheirkolk officiating.
Interment will be at Egelund Cemetery near Detroit Lakes on Saturday, July 15.
Serving as the honorary pallbearers will be Paul Sword, Aaron Thompson, Russ Shoemaker, Rusty Shoemaker, Lee Northouse, David Johnson, Eugene Braget, Dennis Braget and Paul Johnson.
Cremation will be by Barr Bros. Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Cloquet.
Alvin Norbert Braget, son of Albert and Nellie Braget, was born at Mahnomen on Nov. 7, 1925, graduated from Mahnomen High School (Class of 1942) and then served four years with the U. S. Naval Air Corps and saw during World War II.
After leaving the service, he attended Minneapolis Business College and married Lorna Johnson at Detroit Lakes in 1947.
He began training as an office manager with Gamble Robinson and worked at Duluth, St. Cloud and Aberdeen, S. D., before becoming office manager at Mason City, Ia.
He later purchased a small youth center in Aberdeen, S. D., then moved to Pelican Rapids, where he worked for Bredahl Implement, and then worked for Home of Economy in East Grand Forks.
Mr. Braget later bought a bulk gas and oil business in Bagley, where they lived for nine years, then took a job as a saw filer for mills near Northome and then he and his wife opened a real estate office in Mizpah.
After about 10 years and nearing retirement, he sold the real estate office, worked a short time for Anderson Fabric and he and Lorna started the Dairy Wagon on weekends at Nisswa, at various festivals and auction sales and then operated the businss during the winter months in Arizona. They later sold belts and buckles in Minnesota in the summer months and during most winters in Arizona.
Mr.. Braget, who enjoyed singing, sang with the barbershop chorus and quartet and sang in choirs, including singing solo numbers. He served as commander of the American Legion post in Bagley and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife - Lorna, Mizpah; two daughters - Crystal Thompson, Grand Rapids, and Lori Shoemaker, Eleva, Wis.; a son - Alan, Cloquet, and a sister - Gladys Northouse, Sacred Heart. There are four grandchildren,.
Preceding him in death were his parents.

Lois R. Ohman
Lois R. Ohman, 68, a resident of the Woodrest Nursing Home at Walker and formerly of Moorhead, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids on Monday, July 3.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, from the Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church. The West - Kjos Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Visitation: Wednesday, July 5, West - Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, 4 - 8 p.m.

Charles A. Toenjes
Aug. 14, 1940 - June 25, 2000
Charles A. Toenjes, 59, a former owner of the Audubon Supper Club, died Sunday, June 25, at his home in Audubon.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, from The Catholic Church of St. Henry at Monticello, with Fr. Tom Fitzgerald and Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating.
Interment will be at St. Henry’s Cemetery in Monticello, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers will be Quint Perfect, Justin Drury, Jason Anderson, Dick Hermes, Jim Holt, Bob Monette, Joe Adam and Jess Hendrickson.
Charles A. Toenjes, son of Albert and Marie Toenjes, was born Aug. 14, 1940, in St. Paul, grew up there, graduated from St. Agnes High School (Class of 1958) and worked as a heavy equipment operator in St. Paul.
On Sept. 7, 1968, Mr. Toenjes and Patricia Mulcahy were married in St. Paul and lived and worked there until moving to Audubon in 1972.
The couple owned and operated the Audubon Supper Club until 1993 and he also farmed and worked in the area until 1984 when he returned to St. Paul and worked for Edge Construction, for the Ashland Oil Co. and, most recently, for Boldt Construction.
A member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, Mr. Toenjes also belonged to the International Union of Operating Engineers (No. 49) and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife - Pat, Audubon; two sons - Timothy, Maple Grove, and Christopher (Amy), Grand Rapids; a daughter - Jodi (Brian) Anderson, Kelso, Wash.; his mother - Marie, Monticello; two sisters - Carol (Rich) Hendrickson, Elk River, and Marilyn (Jim) Mansager, Shoreview, and his father - in - law - George Mulcahy, St. Paul.
Preceding Mr. Toenjes in death were his father (who died in 1990), a brother (James, who died in 1963) and his mother - in - law - Hattie Mulcahy.
Visitation: Wednesday, June 28, West - Kjos Funeral Home, 4 - 8 p.m., with prayer service at 8. Also 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Catholic Church of St. Henry in Monticello.

Kathleen H. Thomson
June 25, 1907 - June 30, 2000
Kathleen H. Thomson, 93, a resident of Detroit Lakes since 1977, died Friday, June 30, at Emmanuel Nursing Home, where she had lived since 1993.
There was a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, from the West - Kjos Chapel in Detroit Lakes, with Nathan Strunk officiating. Jane Ballard was the organist and the soloist was Beverly Wething.
Interment was at the Bathgate (N. D.) Cemetery, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen H. Henderson, daughter of John and Anne Brown Henderson, was born June 25, 1907, in Winnipeg, Man., Canada.
She grew up and attended school at Bathgate, N. D., attended business college in Grand Forks, N. D., and married Herbert G. Thomson at Cavalier, N. D., on Oct. 29, 1929.
Mrs. Thomson was the administrator of the Pioneer Rest Home in Bathgate for many years until retiring and moving to Detroit Lakes in 1977.
A member of the United Methodist Church, she belonged to the Susanna Club of the United Methodist Church of Detroit Lakes, was a 50 - year member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Eastern Star Past Matrons Club.
Surviving are two daughters - Muriel Mollberg, Detroit Lakes, and Mary Jane (Gary) Cuffe, Hawthorne, Calif. There are 11 grandchildren and 12 great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. Thomson in death were her husband (who died in 1967), her parents, a son (John, who died in infancy), two brothers (Ralph and David) and two sisters (Isabel Capp and Mary Foster).

Erma M. McDonald
Jan. 16, 1910 - July 24, 2000
Erma M. McDonald, 90, died Monday, July 24, at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, from Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Fr. Jerry Rogers officiated at the funeral and music was by the Holy Rosary Music Ministry.
Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, with the David - Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were David McDonald, Craig McDonald, Paul McDonald, Kevin McDonald, Douglas Johnson, Dorn Johnson, Mark Hornstein, Donald Hornstein, Michael Hornstein, Chris Mikkelson and Stephen Mikkelson.
Erma M. Exner, daughter of Hubert and Augusta Appel Exner, was born at Browns Valley on Jan. 16, 1910, and moved with her family to LaMoure, N. D., where she graduated from high school (Class of 1927).
On Dec. 9, 1929, she and Clarence McDonald were married in Fergus Falls. They lived in the North Dakota cities of Jamestown, Edgely and Fargo before moving to Detroit Lakes in 1976.
Surviving are two sons - Clarence Jr. (Donna), Wimbeldon, N. D., and Dennis (Patricia), West Fargo; three daughters - Marlee Johnson, Grand Rapids; Marlys (Gene) Hornstein, Kokomo, Ind., and Jeanne (Thomas) Mikkelson, Madison, Wis., and a brother - Vernon (Clara) Exner, Boise, Idaho. There are 24 grandchildren, 64 great - grandchildren and 18 great - great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. McDonald in death were her husband (who died in 1994), five grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

Louise Magill McNellis
Jan. 19, 1926 - June 25, 2000
Louise Magill McNellis, 74, formerly of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, June 25, at her home near Hudson, Wis.
There will be a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 3, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Stillwater.
Louise Magill, daughter of William Harry and Sara Lucille Bristol Magill, was born at Fargo on Jan. 19, 1926.
She and her husband (James McNellis) lived in Detroit Lakes from 1950 - 58 and then moved with their five children to a dairy farm near Hammond, Wis. She bought a home at Perch Lake near Hudson in 1973.
Surviving are four daughters - Kathy (Calvin) Glomb, Omaha, Nebr.; Betsy (Ron) Colbeth, Loveland, Colo.; Mary (Steve Gates) McNellis, Stillwater, and Lucy (Pat Collins) McNellis, Hudson, Wis.; a son - Dan McNellis, Parker, Colo.; a brother - Dr. Gordon Magill, New York; a sister - in - law - Mary Catherine McNellis, White Bear Lake, and a brother - in - law - Joe McNellis, Pennsylvania. There ard 13 grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. McNellis in death were her parents, a brother (William Magill Jr.), a sister (Jeanne Moore) and her husband.
Memorials: Preferred to family.

Eric Hoopman
June 24, 2000 - June 24, 2000
Eric Hoopman, infant son of Eric Hoopman and Angela Livingood of Detroit Lakes, was born and died on Saturday, June 24, at St. Mary’s Regional Health Center.
The funeral was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, from the David - Donehower Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Cook officiating.
Interment was at the Ogema Cemetery, with the David - Donehower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his parents; his grandparents - Barb Livingood and Mike and Lolly Livingood, all of Detroit Lakes; Larry and Jan Hoopman, International Falls, and Angela Kirk, Littlefork; great - grandparents - Leona Bisson and Mae and Dean Livingood, all Detroit Lakes, and Laura Kirk, International Falls, and his great - great - grandmother - Amelia Hefta, Forest River, N. D.

Ione R. Clark
March 25, 1939 - June 25, 2000
Ione R. Clark, 61, died at her home in Detroit Lakes on Sunday, June 25.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, from Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, with Fr. Mietek Bajek officiating.
Interment was at the Ogema City Cemetery, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Geoff Jones, Alvin White, Steve Anywaush, Richard Zima, Andrew Perrson and Greg Vogt.
Ione Clark, daughter of Owen and Ileane Warren Clark, was born March 25, 1939, in White Earth.
She grew up in White Earth, graduated from Waubun High School (Class of 1956) and moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for eight years before marrying Ray Thomas Waukazo of Robbinsdale.
Over the years, she cared for a number of foster children.
Surviving are a son - Ray Thomas Waukazo Jr., Bemidji; three brothers - Patrick Clark, Ogema; Terry (Debra) Clark, Detroit Lakes, and Larry Joseph (Robbin) Clark, Kuntztown, Pa., and two sisters - Barbara (John) Vogt, Detroit Lakes, and Margaret (Francis) Anywaush, Bemidji. There are a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were a son - William O. Waukazo, who died in infancy; her parents, and a sister (Carol Jean Clark).
