Lambert M. Damlo
Lambert M. Damlo, 88, a former Frazee resident, died at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes on Tuesday, March 28.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 31, from Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee, with the Rev. William Aufdenkamp officiating.
Interment will be at the Gorman Township Cemetery in Otter Tail County, with the Furey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Lambert Damlo, son of Christ and Martha Bochaus Damlo, was born July 11, 1911, in Gorman Township of Otter Tail County.
He was raised in Gorman Township, attended school at Luce and was married to Laura Schultz on Dec. 21, 1936, in Gorman Township. They farmed in Gorman Township until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1989.
Surviving are his wife - Laura, Detroit Lakes; a son - Monroe (Jane), Detroit Lakes; two brothers - Walter (Elfrieda), Detroit Lakes, and Marvin (Alice), Perham; a sister - Blondina Fehlauer, Rochester, and a sister - in - law - Viola Damlo, Frazee. There are two grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mr. Damlo in death were his parents, a son (Marlyn) and three brothers (Fred, Herbert and Adelbert).
Visitation: Thursday, March 30, 4 - 8 p.m., with prayer service at 7, Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.

Enid Eininger
Enid Eininger, 88, died Sunday, March 26, at the Jackson Municipal Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 31, from the Kramer Funeral Home in Sherburn.
Enid Henrietta Hansen, daughter of Charles and Clara Louise Freemont Hansen, was born at Walters on Dec. 24, 1911.
She grew up at Albert Lea and West Fargo, graduated from West Fargo High School and attended Moorhead State Teacher’s College.
On Oct. 29, 1933, Enid Eininger and Eugene “Tom/Dutch” Eininger were married at West Fargo.
During their married life, they lived at Chaffee, N. D.; Twenty - Nine Palms, Calif.; Falmouth, Mass, and Buffalo, Annandale, Randolph, Waseca, Chisholm, St. Paul and Sherburn, all in Minnesota. They also had a cabin at Owen Lake in northern Minnesota for 39 years.
Mrs. Eininger, who enjoyed history, art and literature, as well as nature, served on various library boards and took part and conducted Great Books discussions in various communities. She also enjoyed travel.
The Einingers moved to St. Paul after their children had grown up and Mrs. Eininger worked several years as a reading tutor for the St. Paul Schools.
Surviving are her husband - Tom; a brother - Richard (Doris) Hansen, Fargo; a sister - Ardys Snyder, Fargo, and three children - Mary Ann Eininger, Fairbanks, Alaska; Karen (James) Lytle, Sherburn, and John Richard Eininger, Ely. There are eight grandchildren and five great - grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. Eininger in death were a son (Eugene), a daughter - in - law (Molly Eininger Lindeman), a son - in - law (H. Frank Belts) and three brothers (Claire Hansen, Freemont Hansen and Earl Hansen).
Memorials: Preferred to Children’s Home Society of Minnesota.
Visitation: One hour prior to service on Friday.

Clint West
Clint West, 80, died Sunday, March 19, at the Community Health Care Hospital in Wausau, Wis.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, from Immanuel Baptist Church in Wausau.
Rev. Gary Butler and Rev. Richard Krenz officiated at the funeral.
Interment was at Memorial Chapel Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wausau, with the Brainard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Clint West, son of Edward and Ferne West, was born at Elgin, Ill., on Sept. 12, 1919, and married Helen Bara on May 12, 1940.
He and his family moved to Wausau in 1946 and he sold insurance for over 50 years. He and his wife operated the Clint West Insurance Agency.
For 50 years, Mr. West did a broadcast on WSAU Radio on Sunday mornings and he also was a lay preacher for the Moody Bible Institute, holding evangelistic meetings in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Ohio. Mr. West was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Wausau.
An avid sportsman and hunter, he was a member of the Safari Club and held a life membership in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Surviving are two daughters - Pam West Bergeson, Lake Park, and Mary Ann West, Wausau; a son - James (Patrice) West, Wausau; an adopted daughter - Judi West, Wausau, and a sister - Ruth Claire Chapin, Schnectady, N. Y. There are eight grandchildren.
Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son - in - law (Rev. Bob Bergerson, who died in 1998).
Memorials: Preferred to American Heart Association or cancer research.

Margene H. Zaeske
Services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, from First Lutheran Church in Audubon for Margene H. Zaeske.
Mrs. Zaeske, 68, the wife of Gust Zaeske of Audubon, died Monday, March 28, at St. Mary’s Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes.
The Rev. James Armstrong officiated at the funeral, Janice Myhre was the organist and the soloist was Clint Felker.
Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, with the West - Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Eugene Walton, Montie Beyer, Kerry Walton, Dale Beyer, Don Schroeder and Laurel Beyer.
Margene Schroeder, daughter of Edward and Lillian Krueger Schroeder, was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Casselton, N. D.
She moved as a child with her family from Casselton to Buffalo, N. D., and then to Wheatland, N. D.
On June 14, 1952, Margene Schroeder and Gust Zaeske were married in Casselton and lived on the Zaeske family farm near Leonard, N. D., until 1958, when they moved to Audubon, where they continued to be involved in farming.
Mrs. Zaeske enjoyed gardening and working with flowers.
Surviving are her husband - Gust Zaeske, Audubon; a son - Lorry Zaeske, Detroit Lakes; a daughter - Sherri Zaeske, Detroit Lakes, and three sisters - Lois Lauritsen, Wheatland, N. D.; Laverne Beyer, Felton, and Joyce Beyer, Detroit Lakes. There are two grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother.

Gayle Bromander
Gayle Bromander, 81, a former resident of Ulen and Detroit Lakes, died at Unity Hospital in Fridley on Thursday, March 23.
The funeral was on Monday, March 27, from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Brighton. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Gayle C. Bromander was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Savage and moved with his parents to a farm near Ulen as a young boy.
During World War II, he served as a lieutenant with the U. S. Army Air Corps and saw action in the European theater.
Mr. Bromander and Marge Uhlir were married in Detroit Lakes in 1946 and lived here a short time while he was employed with B & F Electric.
He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University and the Bromanders moved to New Brighton, where he was employed by Honeywell. He retired after 31 years with the firm.
Upon retiring as an electrical engineer, he spent about five years restoring a 100 - year - old train depot.
Described as “a master woodworker” by Joyce Kloncz, president of the New Brighton Historical Society, Mr. Bromander helped organize that organization and dedicated countless hours in trying to preserve and show people the importance of the history of this country. He was also called “a go - getter who wouldn’t quit until a project was completed.”
From 1970 - 78, he served as mayor of New Brighton and he also served as district chairman for the Republican party.
Surviving are his wife - Marge; four sons - Bruce, Bloomington; Steven, Crystal; Michael, Blaine, and Jeffry, New Brighton; three daughters - Susan Fisher, Hopkins; Mary, St. Paul, and Jennifer Johnson, Charlotte, N. C.; a sister - Margaret Brogren, Fargo, and a brother - Robert, Ulen. There are 11 grandchildren.

Dr. Norman D. Williams
Dr. Norman D. Williams, 75, died Friday, March 31, at his home in Fargo.
The funeral was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, from First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. The Boulger Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Norman D. Williams was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Roca, Nebr., grew up on a farm near there and graduated from Hickman (Nebr.) High School.
He served with the U. S. Army during World War II, returned to Hickman following the war and married Elaine E. Kuster on Aug. 7, 1947.
Mr. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska in 1951, received a doctorate in genetics from Nebraska and joined the Argonne National Laboratory in Naperville, Ill., as a research associate, working there from 1954 - 56.
Dr. Williams joined ARS in Fargo in 1956 to investigate the genetics of bread wheat and durum, with emphasis on genetic resistance to stem rust. From 1960 - 82, he was an adjunct professor with the North Dakota State University Plant Science Department and taught graduate level courses in genetics and cytogenetics.
Beginning in 1972, Dr. Williams was the research leader for the Cereal Crops Research Unit at the Northern Crop Science Laboratory in Fargo, with his research focused on inheritance of disease resistance and other desirable traits in wheat. He retired in 1999.
Surviving are two sons - Curt (Deb) Williams, and David Williams, both Fargo; a brother - Ervin Williams, Firth, Nebr., and a sister - Mary (John) Ronhovde, Eagle, Nebr.

Garry Stephen Crook
Garry Stephen Crook, 23, a former Menahga resident, died in Wadena on Thursday, March 30.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 3, from First English Lutheran Church in Menahga.
Rev. Roger Michaelson officiated at the funeral, Shirley Anderson was the organist and the soloist was Steve Leritz.
Interment was at the Menahga City Cemetery, with the Cardini - Behrens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers at the funeral included Rod Gruchow, Gabriel Ward, Eric Schwartz, Eric Leritz, Jesse Jepson and Dan Pulver.
Serving as the honorary pallbearers were Steve Leritz, Arnie Leritz, Michael Mountjoy, Garry Olson, Calvin Stevens and Raymond French.
Military honors were by Guy L. McDermeit Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6206 of Menahga.
Garry Crook, son of Garry Olson and Judith Stevens, was born at Detroit Lakes on July 20, 1976, attended Frazee High School, joined the National Guard in 1993 and entered the U.S. Army in 1994.
Discharged in 1998, he returned to Menahga and married Autumn Maaninga in Park Rapids on Feb. 10, 1997.
Mr. Crook worked in the Menahga area, was a member of Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post No. 6206 and belonged to the color guard in Menahga. He was a student at the Northwest Technical College in Wadena.
He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, movies, high tech items and collecting match box cars.
Surviving are his wife - Autumn; three sons - Forrest McQuiston, Bailey Crook and Jaden Crook, all of Wadena; his mother - Judy Stevens, Menahga; his father - Garry Olson, Alger, Mich.; his grandmother - Lorraine Leritz, Menahga; his grandfather - Harvey Olson, Alger Mich.; a brother - James Crook, Menahga; a sister - Anna Stevens, Menahga; his step - father - Calvin Stevens, Ponsford, and his his step - grandparents - Duane Stevens, Ponsford; Verdie Maaninga, Menahga, and Randy (Deb) Olson, Menahga.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather (Matt Leritz), his grandmother (Vivian Olson) and his step - grandmother (Darlene Stevens).

James William Thompson
Services were at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, from the Pine Point School in Ponsford for James William Thompson.
Mr. Thompson, 63, a resident of Park Rapids and formerly of Ponsford, died Sunday, April 2.
The Rev. Russell Paulson officiated at the funeral.
Interment was at Breck Memorial Episcopal Cemetery in Ponsford, with the Jones - Pearson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Serving as the pallbearers were Randy Tyge, Dale Tyge, Ed Walters, Leslie Heinonen, Freddy Thompson and Neil Howard.
James Thompson, son of George and Rose Bunker Thompson, was born in White Earth on May 20, 1936.
He attended the Pine Point School near Ponsford through the eighth grade and then attended Park Rapids High School. He worked as a logger in the forests of northern Minnesota after high school and married Violet Weaver.
Mr. Thompson joined the Layne Minnesota Construction Co. in 1965 and worked his way into becoming a crane operator in a career that spanned 23 years.
James Thompson and Susan Ice were married at Watertown, S. D., in 1973.
Along with sons Joe, Lee and Mike, he started a logging and trucking operation in the mid - 1980’s.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting.
Surviving are 12 children - Amy Thompson and JoLynn Peet, both Lake George; Mike (Autumn) Thompson, Park Rapids; Lee Thompson, Little Falls; Joe Thompson, Bemidji; Charles Thompson, Minneapolis; Marion (Albert) Basswood, Ponsford; George Thompson, Moorhead; Marsha Thompson, Detroit Lakes; Fred (Jody) Thompson, Minneapolis; James Thompson Jr., Moorhead, and Julie, Red Lake; two sisters - Dorothy Heinonen, Ponsford, and Frances Benjamin, Minneapolis, and two brothers - Lyle Thompson, Ponsford, and Fredrick “Tookie” (Marilyn) Thompson, Arden Hills. There are many grandchildren, great - grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
His parents, a daughter (Sharon), a brother (Charles) and several grandchildren preceded him in death.

Ernest Laurence Hanson
Ernest Laurence Hanson, 90, a resident of Big Toad Lake east of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, April 3.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Furey Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Ernest Laurence Hanson, son of Laurence and Dena Christianson Hanson and the ninth of 10 children in the family, was born at Big Toad Lake on Feb. 26, 1910.
He attended School District No. 74, worked on freight trains for a time and - on Sept. 29, 1932 - married Hilda Fredrickson.
Mr. Hanson worked as a carpenter, building contractor and logger, although spending the majority of his time in commercial fishing, an occupation which allowed him to work in the sunshine and on the water.
Upon retiring, he built a retirement log home at Big Toad Lake. He enjoyed reading.
Surviving are his wife - Hilda; seven children - Marvin (Vicky), Osage; Maurice (Alice) and Milton (Joyce), both Detroit Lakes; James (Linda), Spokane, Wash.; Howard, Nisswa; Nancy (Dwight) Murphy, Moorhead, and Randall (Monica), Frazee, and a sister - Mae Peterson, Frazee. There are 18 grandchildren and 11 great - grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, April 5, 2 - 8 p.m., Furey Funeral Home in Frazee.
