Levi James Madison, 27, of Duluth, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009 , as a result of a car accident near his home in Rochester, Minnesota.

Levi was born on August 9, 1981, to Dawn and James W. Madison, Jr. He attended Duluth public schools and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1999. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from UWS, and then received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica . Immediately after finishing school, Levi became employed at the Mayo Clinic as a registered nurse where he had worked since November 2007.

He cultivated a passion for music that enabled him to become a very fine guitar player on the professional level. At 27 years old Levi already had a fine grasp of rock, blues and classical music. He could blast through a Lynyrd Skynyrd tune and immediately follow it up with a Fernando Sor piece on the classical guitar, both equally well executed.

Levi was a gift. People who knew Levi knew him as much more than a very talented musician. His gentle, caring nature embraced all who shared his company. He loved all living creatures both great and small. The Mayo Clinic jumped at the opportunity to hire Levi because he personified the most important facet of healing, and that is LOVE. He preferred enjoying life with his beautiful Jessica and his friends far and above worrying about the superfluous garb we tend to mire through. He drew the good out of those who met him. Solid convictions, sensitive and fun all in one beautiful young man.

Levi was preceded in death by his grandfather James W. Madison, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Dawn Madison of Superior, Wisconsin, and his father, James W. Madison, Jr. of Knife River, Minnesota, the love of his life, Jessica Olmanson of Foley, Minnesota, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Reception to follow. Friends of Levi, feel free to bring your music. Private inurnment at a later date. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota.
