Dianne (Dee) Linder McClellan
Dawn Hautajarvi of Proctor is mourning the death of her mother, Dianne (Dee) Linder McClellan. The lifelong Duluth resident died Thurs., Oct. 17, in her home. She was 61.

Dianne was a 1958 graduate of Denfeld High School. She married her second husband LeRoy (Mac) McClellan in 1987. She worked at Shopper's City and Chun King while going to school for cosmetology. She worked for Darlene's in Lincoln Park for over 25 years, then for Dynamic Hair Design, and then returned to Darlene's. She was a member of Women of the Moose #1478, VFW, American Legion #71, and past secretary of Northland Chapter M.D.A.

Dianne was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her stepfather, and her loving husband LeRoy (Mac) McClellan in 1991.

She is survived by two other children, their father Gerald Linder, a stepson, a sister, ten grandchildren, and three nieces and a nephew.

Burial was in Oneota Cemetery.

Jacob A. Pogorelec
Services were held this week for Jacob A. Pogorelec. He died Fri., Oct. 25, 2002 in his Proctor residence. He was 80.

Jacob was born in Chisholm. He served with the U.S. Navy during WW II, and married Ramona Trautman in 1951. They had resided in Nebraska, Lake Vermilion, and most recently in Proctor. Jacob worked for Cully Dunlap and Johnson for many years. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Proctor.

He is survived by his wife Ramona, sons Michael of Duluth, Kenneth (Linda) of Virginia, Jeffrey (Dee) of Aurora, Colo., and Thomas of Proctor, daughters Vickie (Jeff Kimmes) Rindal of Wrenshall and Teresa of Duluth, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, four sisters, five brothers, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Superior, with Military Rites provided by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.

Leonard Leon Lamb, Jr.
Linda Williams and Danny Lamb, both of Saginaw are mourning the death of their father Leonard Leon Lamb, Jr. of Cedar Valley. The former Floodwood/ Brookston resident died Sat., Oct. 19, 2002. He was 78.

He was born in Nebraska and moved to Floodwood with his family when he was a young boy. Leonard worked in the CC Camp before joining the Army in 1943. He received a Purple Heart for his military service and injuries he received. Leonard married Florence Anderson in 1949 in Duluth. He worked as a bridge and building supervisor for the DM&IR Railroad from 1947 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Maintenance of Way Employer's Lodge 1710 and 1711, the Over 55 Club of Culver, NRA and DAV.

He is survived by four other children, two sisters, a niece, 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Military Honors were accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard.

George J. Nikkola
Aino 'Mandy' Siiro of Proctor is mourning the death of her brother George J. Nikkola. The Duluthian died Tues., Oct. 15, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was 80.

George was born in International Falls. He later served with the Army Air Forces during WW II, as an ammunition handler, and was awarded a Bronze Star. He married Lillian Anderson in Moose Lake in 1947. They later moved and spent 30 years in Silver Bay, where George worked with Reserve Mining. They moved to Duluth in 1999. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Silver Bay, and former member of the Silver Bay VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Lillian, two sons, three daughters, a brother, two other sisters, and six grandchildren.

Burial was at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery in Moose Lake. Military honors were accorded by the Duluth VFW Honor Guard.

Annie Ray Gilderman
A memorial service was held earlier this week for Annie Ray 'Little Beepers' Gilderman, of Saginaw. She died Thurs., Oct. 31, 2002 in a Duluth hospital as the result of an automobile accident. and is now with her Lord. She was 17.

She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on December 26, 1984 to Brian Henry Gilderman and Paula Jean (Lian) Gilderman and had been an area resident since age 2. She was currently a senior at Proctor High School.

Throughout High School, she was involved in many different activities including, Spanish Club, softball, volleyball, band, DECA, and managing the boys soccer team. She was also on the Honor Roll. Annie was the type of person who had a kind and gentle spirit. She especially loved children and they loved her in return. She enjoyed babysitting.

She was a friend to everyone. Annie loved her school and showed a lot of school spirit. She had many friends, and treasured the times spent with them. Annie's Senior Class will cherish the memories she made with them.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ray Lian, and her aunt, Penny Gilderman.

She is survived by her mother, Paula Lian (Tim Habert) of Duluth; her father, Brian Gilderman (Patsy Occhino) of Saginaw; her brothers, Ryan Gilderman and Adam Habert both of Duluth; her sisters, Brittany and Kassi Habert of Duluth; her nephew, Isaiah Gilderman; her maternal grandmother, Jean Lian of Duluth; her paternal grandparents, Charles E. & Joan Gilderman of Duluth and El Jobean, FL.; her paternal great-grandmother, Malvina Malmstein of FL.; her special step-grandfather, Frank Habert of Duluth; many aunts; uncles; cousins; many special friends; and her dog, Ellie "Wheezers".

Annie was an organ donor so others could continue to live.

Inurnment at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.

Antonio Canale
Services will be held Sat., Nov. 9, for Antonio Canale who died Sun., Nov. 3, 2002 in the Benedictine Health Center. He was 86.

A lifelong Duluth resident, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Antonio married Dorothy Rose Nelson in Virginia, Minn. in 1944, and had worked at U.S. Steel Duluth Works for 33 years until the plant closed. He was a member of the West Duluth Moose.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Dorothy, daughters Sandra Tousignant of Cloquet and Kathy (Jim Jr.) Merling of Proctor, grandson Jimmy Merling III of Proctor, sister Ida Dincau of Duluth, and nephew Ray (Linda) Dincau of Proctor.

Visitation Sat., Nov. 9, 2002, from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. service in Bell Brothers Chapel. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Cremation and Funeral Services.

Brett T. Barnard
Stan Barnard of Munger is mourning the death of his brother Brett T. Barnard of Tioga St., Duluth. He died Sun., Nov. 3, 2002, in St. Mary's Medical Center at the age of 40.

He was a lifelong Duluth resident and worked in the Transportation Dept. for ISD School District #709 for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Surviving are his wife Jaci, three other brothers, two sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held today, Thurs., Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1701 E. Superior St. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Cremation and Funeral Services.

Sister Francesca Caskey
Sister Francesca Caskey, OSB, St. Scholastica Monastery, died Thurs., Oct. 31, 2002, in St. Mary's Hospice. She was 91.

Sister Francesca, a former teacher at St. Rose, entered the Duluth Benedictine community in 1926, and professed monastic vows in 1928. She completed a two-year degree program at the former Duluth State Teachers College and graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a B.S. in elementary education. She also taught in Chicago, Ill., Duluth, Cloquet, Brainerd and Phoenix, Ariz.

She is survived by the sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery, by her sister Marcella (Paul) Beaupre of Duluth and by many other relatives.

Interment was in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Lynn Pelletier
Services were held last week for PHS graduate and former School Board member Lynn "Steer" Pelletier of Duluth, formerly of Proctor. He died Wed., Nov. 6, 2002 in Silver Bay. He was 53.

He was born on September 1, 1949 in Duluth, MN, to Milton and Harriet (Ruhnke) Pelletier. He attended school in Proctor and graduated from Proctor High School in 1967.

Lynn was employed with Conwed in Cloquet, where he was also a union steward. He owned and operated a video store for a short time in Cloquet. Lynn has been employed with several trucking and delivery companies and most recently with Jeff Foster Trucking Co.

He enjoyed tending bar at the Lost Tavern and Cloquet Bar and Lounge. Lynn also enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, camping, and hunting. He was active in the Proctor School District, where he served on the school board and was chairman for many years.

Lynn is preceded in death by his father, Milton.

He is survived by his three sons; Brian (Melanie), of Chicago; Jeremy of Minneapolis; and David of Hutchinson; his mother, Harriet, of Proctor; two brothers, Dale (Mary) of Ashland; and Raymond (Linda) of Duluth; one sister, Geraldine Lassard of California; his special friend, Linda Toms, of Duluth; Linda's children, Rhonda Follett of California, Todd (Pam) Follett of Cloquet; and Scott (Jessie) Follett, of Cloquet; and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Helen Johanna Kuusisto
Helen Johanna Kuusisto, formerly of Chambersburg Ave., Duluth, died Wed., Nov. 6, 2002, at Viewcrest Health Center. She was 77.

She was born in Blackberry, Minn., and was a 1943 graduate of Grand Rapids High School. She married Arvo E. Kuusisto in Duluth in 1946. She had worked at Duluth Avionics, Montgomery Wards and ITS at the Duluth International Airport. Helen was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the former Messiah Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter Vickie Lynn (Roger) Malvick of Hermantown, son Ronald A. (Janet) of Duluth, her twin brother Howard (Margaret) of Blackberry, and four grandchildren.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery in Blackberry.
