Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, W. 50th St. and Highway 100, Edina, Minn., 952-920-3996.

Mike Znameroski, dearly loved husband and father, died peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2006, with his dedicated family by his side.

Mike loved nothing more than relaxing with his family at their lake home on Pelican Lake in the Brainerd Lakes area.

He taught his children to sail and pulled them behind their boat on floats and water skis, always with a broad smile and appreciation for the beauty of this world.

Mike would sit on the end of the dock with his feet dangling in the water watching the sunset, enjoying the peace and quiet, and listening to the call of the loons.

Being from Virginia on the Iron Range, Mike was the salt of the earth and had the common sense, wisdom, vision, enthusiasm, curiosity, strong work ethic and integrity to build an accounting firm with close friends.

Famous for the twinkle in his eye and laughing at his own jokes, he mentored numerous co-workers with wonderful advice and kindness.

In his spare time, Mike was a jack-of-all-trades, always having a project going on and a pending list a mile long.

Mike loved using his hands, remodeling his home in Minnetonka and looking forward to the changes he would make to his Breezy Point lake home.

His clients always looked forward to the pre-April 15th meeting with Mike, even when they knew they would leave with money owed for taxes.

His clients returned Mike’s loyalty and became his friends.

An inspiration and example to many, Mike was the Sunshine of Susan’s life and the family’s North Star.

He will continue to guide us from above.

Mike had a deep and abiding faith in God, accepting his life journey without asking why.

In the end, the cancer was able to take Mike’s body, but not his spirit.

Mike was 56 years young and a 21-month cancer survivor.

His family is especially appreciative of Dr. Steven Duane and Dr. Merrill Biel of Minneapolis and the physicians and staff of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, who gave us an extra year with our beloved husband and father.

Also, thank you to Mike’s Lymphodema therapists, his Fairview hospice nurses and aids, and Fr. Larry Blake.

Mike will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 34 years, Susan; and his two children, Elizabeth (partner Felicia), and David.

Mike is also survived by his sister, Kathy Porisch (Paul); mother-in-law, Jennie Rauh; nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and numerous friends, co-workers and clients.
