Harry T. Johnson
Harry Theodore Johnson, 88, of St. James, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at St. James Health Services Hospital in St. James.
A service was held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2004 at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James with Reverend Ted Kunze officiating.
Burial was held at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. It continued for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Harry was born August 1, 1915 in rural Watonwan County to Axel and Alma (Englin) Johnson. He attended school in Watonwan County and graduated from St. James High School.
On September 28, 1940, Harry married Regina "Ge" Heine at Galena Lutheran Church in rural Ormsby.
Harry worked for the water plant and served as a journeyman electrician, and later as plumber for Gibson Hardware. He and Ge purchased the hardware business in 1957 and operated what today is Johnson Hardware located in the same building. Their son, Denny, took over when Harry decided to retire.
Harry was a lifetime member of Augustana Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the Fire Department where he served as chief for 19 years. He was a boy scout leader, involved with Mohawk archeries, various church activities, was Boss of the Year in 1963, and was asked to serve as Grand Marshall of the Railroad Days parade for 2004.
Harry enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, storytelling, was an avid reader, playing cards, hunting, sailing, family and friends, and spending time at the cabin in northern Minnesota near Bemidji.
Harry was survived by his two daughters, Diane and her husband, George Winter of Austin and Kathy of St. Paul; two sons, Dennis of St. James and Gary and his wife, Jan of St. James; three grandchildren, Nicole, Derek, and Jessica; step-grandchildren and their families, Tricia and Omar and Alexa McMillan, Stephanie and Jerad Rask and Seth Dickinson; sister-in-law, Donna Mae Johnson of St. James; and several nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Regina "Ge" in 1996; and two brothers, Carl and H. Earl.

Richard J. Sletta
Richard J. Sletta, 57, of Burnsville, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004.
A memorial gathering was held Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Werness Brothers Funeral Chapel in Bloomington. A memorial service was held Friday, June 11 at Mt. Olivit Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
Burial was held at Lakewood Cemetery.
Richard was born in St. Paul to Theodore A. and JaNette (Lawrence) Sletta. He grew up in LaSalle and graduated from St. James High School.
Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nanette; daughter, Sandra; son, Scott; two sisters, Sharon and her husband, Keith Kittle and Julie and her husband, Clarence Miron; father-in-law, David Fremo and his wife, Joan; brother-in-law, Mark Fremo (Nancy Sheridan); and most special friends, Les and DeAnn Kvidera.
Richard was preceded in death by his infant son, Nathan; parents; grandparents; and mother-in-law.
Memorials will be given to the Methodist Hospice.

Glen G. Miller
Glen Gilbert Miller, 76, of St. James died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at his home in St. James.
A service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the Pease Funeral Home in St. James with Pastor K. Christian Johnson officiating.
Burial with military honors will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday and will continue Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pease Funeral Home.
Glen was born August 28, 1927 in Minneapolis to Howard and Adella (Quillen) Miller. He was raised and attended school there.
Glen enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served until 1947. He served as ships cook on board the USS Springfield and the USS Pasadena in Asia and the Pacific.
Glen married Celestia Throndsen on January 15, 1949 in Minneapolis. He worked as a cab driver in Minneapolis. He was an electrician on the railroad most of his working life.
Glen lived in Harvey, ND and Brooklyn Center before moving to St. James in 1963. His wife, Celestia, died May 21, 1989.
Glen was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in St. James. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, and working on the computer.
Glen is survived by his two sons, Dan and his wife, Shelly of St. James and Glen Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Mountain Lake; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Dean Arnold of Benson, AZ and Sharon and her husband, Jack Schwab of New Ulm; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Rodney Walter Jr.; two brothers, Bud and Dean; and sister, Eunice (Teddy) Molumby.
The honorary pallbearer will be Rodney Wolters Jr. The pallbearers will be Cody Arnold, James Gordon, Richard Wolters, Dale Schwab, Justin Schwab, Dustin Lynch, and Jeremy Niss.

Clare M. Jenkinson
Clare Marie Jenkinson, 74, of Sherburn, died Sunday afternoon, June 13, 2004 at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health System in Fairmont.
A service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn with Reverend Steven D. Wilson officiating. The organist was Mary Lange and the singers were Rick and Connie Stenson.
Burial was held at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.
Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Sherburn and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clare was born November 8, 1929 to Herbert G. and Claire A. (Moskop) Anderson in Fairmont. She attended Fairmont Public School later graduating in 1947. She then attended and later graduated from Miss Woods Kindergarten/Primary Training School in Minneapolis in 1949. This was the last class before the school merged into Macalester Educational Department. She taught kindergarten in Worthington for two years and then one year in Fairmont.
On December 30, 1950, Clare was united in marriage to Gerald G. Jenkinson at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. After their marriage, they lived in Jackson, Fairmont, and for the last 21 years they made their home in Sherburn.
Clare was employed part time as a secretary for the Veterans Service Office in Fairmont. For 25 years she helped her husband, who was a County Recorder in Martin County, in their abstracting business. In 1994 they moved their office to Fairmont where Clare worked until 1997, when she retired.
Clare was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn. She was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont where she taught Sunday School. She was a gymnastics judge for the Minnesota State High School League and she was also a State Gymnastics Judge for many years.
Clare was an avid golfer, bowler and loved collecting plates. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Clare is survived by her husband, Gerald G. Jenkinson of Sherburn; son, David L. Jenkinson and his wife, Tracy and sons, Thomas and Robert of Corvallis, OR; two daughters, Karen S. Range and her husband, Ken and two daughters, Analissa and Molly of Dassel and Karla K. Jenkinson-Lange and her husband, Brian and three daughters, Sarah, Rebecca, and Morgan and son, Tanner of rural Welcome; aunt, Caroline Dick and her husband, Abe of California; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Clare is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Claire Anderson and aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
The casketbearers were Clark Berry, Roger Lueck, James Lytle, Dwight "Ike" Krogman, Troy Ringnell, and John Tirevold.

Irene T. Wenner
Irene Terese Wenner, 40, of rural Odin, died Thursday morning, August 5, 2004 in an automobile train accident west of Ormsby.
A service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township, rural Ormsby with Pastor Shawn Ethridge officiating.
The organist was Karen Vrieze and the singers were Avrid Laingen, Brian Langeland, Steven Laingen, and David Sandbo.
Burial was held at St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ormsby.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Irene was born September 7, 1963 to Vernon and Teresa (Bohnert) Brown in Mankato. She was baptized and confirmed in Lake Crystal.
Irene was a 1982 graduate of Lake Crystal High School. She graduated from Mankato Technical College with a paraprofessional degree. She was employed at Sween Corporation in Mankato and later at Human Services for Blue Earth County in Mankato.
On August 6, 1988, Irene was united in marriage to Leon Wenner at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. After their marriage they lived on a farm in rural Odin where Irene worked for the Ormsby State Bank and then was a stay-at-home-mom for 11 years.
Irene was employed at the Good Samaritan Center in Mountain Lake and then at the Mountain Lake and Butterfield Schools. She returned to Ormsby State Bank. She was employed at North Country Seeds in Ormsby at the time of her death.
Irene was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township, rural Ormsby where she was a Sunday School teacher. She greatly enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking - especially Special K bars and cookies for her family, fishing with her children, listening to music, singing, going to her kids sporting events, being active in 4-H, traveling to the North Shore, Mackinac Island, Wisconsin Dells, and day trips to Okoboji.
Irene is survived by her husband, Leon Wenner of rural Odin; two daughters, Brittany age 13 and Brianna age 10 and son Eric age 8 all at home; mother, Theresa Brown of Lake Crystal; seven brothers, Ron Brown of Wells, Steve Brown and his wife, Lori of Lake Crystal, Nick Brown and his wife, Monica of Judson, Edward Brown and his wife, Kathy of Garden City, Doug Brown and his special friend, Lisa of South St. Paul, Dennis Brown and his wife, Marla of Lake Crystal, and Tom Brown and his fiancee, Jody of Montgomery; sister, Barb Hindricks and her husband, Dennis of Rapidan; father and mother-in-law, Leland and Berneil Wenner of rural Odin; sister-in-law, Lois Herrig and her husband, Brad of Mt. Lake; brother-in-law, Neil Wenner and his fiancee, Wendy of Ormsby; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Irene is preceded in death by her father, Vernon; sister-in-law, Mary Brown; and other relatives.
Casketbearers were Ross Brown, Dylan Brown, Tim Neisen, Josh Brown, Barrett Herrig, and Brian Romsdahl. Honorary casketbearers were Urban Neisen and Joel Rabbe.
