Mabel M. Lemke
Mabel Margaret Lemke, 91, of Lewisville, died Friday morning, November 26, 2004 at Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman.
A service was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville with Reverend Craig Cummins officiating.
Burial was held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lewisville.
Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mabel was born July 18, 1913 to William and Margaret (Eckmann) Klopp in Barron, WI. She was baptized December 31, 1913 and confirmed April 10, 1927. She grew up and attended school in Fairmont.
Mabel was united in marriage to Walter Lemke on July 26, 1931 in Estherville, IA. The couple lived in Fairmont prior to moving to Lewisville in 1944 where they owned and operated the Lewisville Hotel and Café. They also owned and operated NuWay Cleaners in Lewisville. Mabel was a clerk at the Post Office for 20 years until her retirement on December 13, 1974. Walter died in October of 1987.
Mabel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville where she was active in the church choir and the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Sewing Club.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Phyllis and her husband, Reverend Marvin Kuhlman of Minneapolis; son, Gerald and his wife, Marilyn of Plymouth; son-in-law, Eugene Roloff of Fairmont; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie Eiden and her husband, LeRoy of Fairmont; brother, Melvin Klopp and his wife, Donna of Blue Earth; nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and many friends.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lila Jean Roloff; eight brothers, William, Chester, Harry, Edward, Donald, Kenneth, Gordon, and Raymond Klopp; and four sisters, Lucille Newman, Lydia Miller, Catherine Swearingen, and Alice Klopp.

LeRoy D. Grosklags
LeRoy D. Grosklags, 73, of St. James died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at St. James Health Services Hospital in St. James.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church in St. James with Pastor Donald Crissinger-Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at St. James.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements were with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
LeRoy was born August 13, 1931 to Rudolph and Esther (Domke) Grosklags in Fairfax. He attended school in Fairfax, graduating from Fairfax High School.
In 1952 LeRoy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in which he served until 1956. Following his honorable discharge he went to work as a farm machinery salesman. LeRoy owned L & L Sales in Mountain Lake from 1968 to 1984. In 1985 he went to work for Cunningham Implement (now Tri-County Implement) until his retirement in 2002.
LeRoy was united in marriage to Lorie Michalko on April 2, 1960 in Black Duck.
LeRoy was a member of the St. James American Legion and enjoyed golf, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and yard work.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Lorie Grosklags of St. James; two sons, Todd of Fridley and Troy and his wife, Dana of Grimes, IA; daughter, Terri and her husband, Bruce Thomas of Rochester; five grandchildren, Brittany, Louis, Nicholas, Spencer, and Austin; sister, Carol Lauwagie and her husband, Stanley of Gibbon; and brother, Richard Grosklags and his wife, Darla of Prior Lake.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents.

Janice B. Warkenthien
Janice Bowers Warkenthien, 69, of Granite Falls, formerly of St. James, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 in Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
A service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the United Church of Christ in Granite Falls.
Burial was held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Arrangements were with the Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso.
Janice was born Tuesday, August 1, 1935 to Severt and Emma (Firchau) Hudson in St. James. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in St. James. She grew up in St. James and attended St. James Public Schools.
On January 29, 1954, Janice was united in marriage to Alvin Bowers in the Presbyterian Church in St. James. They lived in St. James until July of 1969 when they moved to Granite Falls. Alvin died in April of 1988.
Janice married Glen Warkenthien in April of 1996 in South Dakota. Glen died in January of 2001. Janice had worked as a Human Services Tech for Project Turnabout, in housekeeping for Granite Falls Hospital, and at the Westwood Care Home in Granite Falls retiring in 1995.
Janice was a member of the United Church of Christ in Granite Falls. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and canning.
Janice is survived by her mother, Emma Hudson of St. James; three children, Kathy Coubal of Granite Falls, Kim Bowers (Robin) of Granite Falls, and Kristine Hanson of Farmington; seven grandchildren, Derek Coubal, Corey Coubal, Jason Bowers, Melissa Jerve, Katie Bowers, Josh Arneson, and Michael Arneson; four great-grandchildren, Alexa Coubal, Kayla Coubal, Julia Bowers, and Mason Jerve; three brothers, Donald Hudson (Diane) of St. James, Glen Hudson (Suzette) of Woodville, WI, and Chuck Hudson (Virginia) of St. James; and sister, Donna Watson of Eight Mile, AL.
Janice was preceded in death by her father, Severt Hudson; her two husbands, Alvin Bowers and Glen Warkenthien; son, Kerry Bowers; and son-in-law, Michael Coubal.

Elmer G. Munsterman
Elmer Glen Munsterman, 79, of St. James, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at the St. James Health Services Hospital.
A service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Butterfield with Pastor Troy Jacobs officiating. The organist was Kristi Haseman.
Burial with Military Honors was held in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Butterfield.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday at Pease Funeral Home in St. James.
Elmer was born May 18, 1925 to Edward and Gladys (Riihl) Munsterman in Rosendale Township, Watonwan County. He was baptized June 21, 1925 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James. Elmer attended District 54 rural School. He served in the Army from April of 1946 until May of 1947.
Elmer married Lorraine Dannhoff on February 10, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in South Branch. They farmed in Butterfield Township following their marriage. Elmer had also been employed by Watonwan County, serving as jailer and driving the Watonwan County Veterans Van for many years. He had been a resident of the Pleasant View Nursing Home in St. James for the past eight years.
Elmer was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Butterfield, the American Legion and VFW in St. James, and had served as president of the AAL branch for 30 years. He was an enthusiast of the Butterfield Threshing Bee. He enjoyed doing volunteer work and driving the veterans van.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four daughters, Carol and her husband, Lowell Daniels of Great Falls, MT, Linda and her husband, Dave Zea of Rochester, Jeanne and her husband, Duane Gunderson of Eden Prairie, and Eileen and her husband, Dean Beireis of Minnetonka; son, John and his wife, Janelle of St. James; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Ruzich of Duluth; five brothers, Donald and his wife, Barbara of Coon Rapids, Lyle and his wife, Stella of Branson, MO, Jerry and his wife, Vonnie of Villard, Eldon and his wife, Beverly of Granada, and Marvin of Elkton, SD; three sisters-in-law, Marsha Munsterman of Fairmont, Alma Eck of Oregon City, OR, and Della Kehr and her husband, Ben of Gaylord; and brother-in-law, Clarence Dannhoff and his wife, Marlene of Fairmont.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; brother, Arnold; and two brothers-in-law, Ernie Eck and John Ruzich.
The honorary pallbearers were Elmer's sister and brothers. The pallbearers were Erik and Adam Munsterman, Justin and Larry Zea, and Scott and Brian Schoneman.

Myron M. Hoffman
Myron M. Hoffman, 85, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 in Dassel.
A service will be held at 2 p.m., December 18, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale.
Arrangements were made by the Shriner's Hospital.
Myron was born July 10, 1919 to Herbert and Pauline Zander Hoffman in Owatonna. He graduated from Owatonna High School, then Mankato Commercial College in 1938.
Myron married Phyllis L. Ebert in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1945. Myron worked as an accountant for over 40 years, first for Swift Meats in Waseca, then Josten's in Owatonna. He opened his own accounting firm in St. James in 1948, where he worked until his retirement in 1986.
Myron was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #57 in New Ulm and a member of the Zuhrah Shrine in Minneapolis.
Myron is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Phyllis; daughter, Janice (LuVerne) Anderson of Annandale and their son, Bryan; son, Alan (Brenda) of Oklahoma and their daughter, Tara; brother, Loren (Benita) of Owatonna; sister, Evelyn (Harry) Risius of Bricelyn; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Myron was preceded in death by his son, Mryon George Hoffman.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital.

Kay Read
Kay Read, 38, of Granite Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000 at the Granite Falls Hospital. Her funeral was held Wednesday, Jan. 5 at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Sprigler officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Kay Marie Read was born Sept. 26, 1961 to Madison and Lucinda (Fagen) Read in Redwood Falls. She was baptized at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Her family moved to Granite Falls in 1966 where she was confirmed at St. Andrew Catholic Church. She graduated from Granite Falls High School. She worked at the county recorder's office for 11 years and recently worked at Firefly Creek Casino in customer service.
She is survived by her sister Norma (and Wesley) Just of Granite Falls; three brothers, Wayne (and Mary) of Granite Falls; Harold (and Pat) of Redwood Falls, and Allen (and Jean) of Wahkon; several nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and five great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Jerome, one great nephew Nicholas and one great-niece Alecia.
Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls handled arrangements.

Clara Schjenken
Clara Schjenken, 94, of Belview, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 in the Parkview Home in Belview. Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 21 in the Grace Lutheran Church in Belview with burial in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery near Belview.
Clara Gurina Schjenken was born Dec. 12, 1906 in Swedes Forest Town-ship to Lars and Bergit (Helgeson) Gullickson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 1, 1925 she married Lars Schjenken. They lived on the farm near Belview. Lars died in 1966 and Clara moved into Belview in the spring of 1967 and worked as a clerk in Ehler's Dept. Store in Redwood Falls from 1967-1978.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and its ladies aid, a 4-H leader and belonged to the Redwood County Extension Service.
She is survived by her two sons, Luverne Schjenken and wife Doris of Carson, CA, and Richard Schjenken and wife Fern of Belview; daughter Loraine "Dolly" Mattison and husband Maurice of Belview, son-in-law Kenneth Ingvalson and wife Shirley of Princeton; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Verna Gullickson of Granite Falls and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lars, a daughter Blythe Ingvalson, granddaughter Pamela Ingvalson, seven brothers, Tyler, Ludvig, Sylvan, Bennie, San-ford, Alfred and Palmer and two sisters, Milda and Helene.
Sunset Funeral Home of Echo handled the arrangements.
