Cameron C. Cleugh
Cameron C. Cleugh, 66, died July 31, 2003 near his home in Hanley Falls as the result of an auto-truck accident. His funeral was held Aug. 3 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Dodgson officiating. Organist was Connie Pehrson and soloist was Carol Louwagie. Casketbearers were Steve Fry, Jay Reishus, Glenn Sharkey and William Sharkey Sr. Interment was in the church cemetery. Cameron C. Cleugh was born on Dec. 13, 1936 at Glenwood to William and Cyrilla (Johnson) Cleugh. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Glenwood high school in 1955. He attended St. Cloud State College for a short time and then the Minnesota School of Business. Cameron and Jean Avis Reishus were married Oct. 17, 1964. Cam and Jean lived in Minneapolis for many years where he worked in shipping and receiving for several companies including Daytons and Gibbs. In 1987 they moved to Glenwood, returning to Minneapolis in 1994 and to Hanley Falls in 1997. He is survived by his wife Jean of Granite Falls; sisters-in-law Karen Sandberg of Denver, CO; and Norma Reishus of Cottonwood and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy, and brothers-in-law Bob Sandberg and Jerold Reishus. J.H. Lynner Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Edward B. Arneson
Edward B. Arneson, 82, died July 27, 2003, at his residence in Montevideo. Per Edward’s request, there was a small intimate service held on the shores of Lake Minnewaska where he spent his childhood years. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Edward was born July 20, 1921 in White Bear Lake to Theodore and Ethel (Bouquet) Arneson. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He served his country and played with Glenn Miller in the Army Air Force Band during World War II. He later graduated with a bachelor of arts from the University of Minnesota. Edward married Beata Pearson of Montevideo and made his career in pharmaceuical sales for Squibb & Abbott Laboratories. He is survived by his daughter Alishja Arneson Ballard of Chicago, IL and family including Marc Arneson, Roma, Maria and Mark Pearson, David Arneson and Mary Ellen Aspenes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and four brothers. Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo handled arrangements.

Garett Wilson Prestholdt
Big brother Braden Prestholdt, along with his parents, Brian and Shelly of Woodbury, wish to announce the birth of Garett Wilson Prestholdt. Garett was born Friday, July 11, 2003, at United Hospital in St. Paul, weighing 9 lbs., 3 oz. and measuring 21 inches long. Grandparents are Virginia Wilson and David Wilson of Clarkfield, Karen and Clayton Houff of Dawson and the late Robert Prestholdt. Great-grandparents are Curtis and Ruth Lynner of Clarkfield, Leslie and Judy Wilson of Hazel Run, and Rudy and Bernice Prestholdt of Dawson.

Idella Enstad
Idella Enstad, 94, of Granite Falls, died Sept. 21, 2003 at the Granite Falls Manor. Her funeral was held Sept. 24 at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Knutson officiating. Organist was Eleanor Sandquist.
Active pallbearers were Barry and Bob Lundin; Rick, Gary and Ryan Enstad, and Steve Steffen. Honorary pallbearers were Idella’s grandchildren. Burial was in Stony Run Cemetery.
Idella Enstad was born Sept. 9, 1909 to Edward and Bertha (Ingebritson) Anderson in Stony Run Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Stony Run Lutheran and attended country school in Stony Run Township.
Idella married Laurents Enstad on Dec. 6, 1930. She worked at the Granite Falls Manor for a number of years and was also active with the ladies aid at church.
She is survived by two daughters: Marlys (and Jerald) Lundin and Corrine Steffen; four sons: Dennis (and Debbie); Allen (and Shirley) David (and Dixie) all of Granite Falls, and Berger (and Marlene) of Madison, WI; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren, and extended family.
She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, and two daughters: Glenda Worsech and Ina Enstad.
Wing-Bain Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Alvin Luepke
Alvin Luepke, 67, of rural Echo, died Sept. 18, 2003 in the Redwood Area Hospital. Services were held Sept. 22 in Rock Valle Lutheran Church, rural Echo, with Rev. Donald Clifford officiating. Music was by Roxanna Boe violinist, Benjamin Boe, soloist and Joy Berg, soloist.
Pallbearers were Justin, Casey and Taylor Luepke; Daniel Shemon, Mark Froland, Mark Moe, Neil Cole and Brett Alvheim. Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Luepke, Michael Omtvedt, Gene Froland, Don Froland, Leon Moe, Jack Kissner, Ray Ose, Arden Bendix, Dave Forkrud and Larry Schueler. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Alvin Martin Luepke was born June 30, 1936 to Gerhold and Louise (Gunderson) Luepke. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Echo High School in 1954. He served two years in the U.S. Navy. Alvin married Wanda Froland on Dec. 7, 1957. Alvin and Wanda farmed in rural Echo.
He was an active member of Rock Valle Lutheran Church, serving as council president for 15 years, along with other positions. He served on boards of the Farmers Co-op Oil of Echo, Echo Area Housing, Echo Township and the Echo-Wood Lake public school. He worked with the Farm Service Agency of Yellow Medicine County for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife Wanda; three children: David and Mary Luepke of Belview, Todd of Wood Lake and Kimberly and Dean Shemon of Wood Lake; four grandsons, Justin, Casey and Taylor Luepke and Daniel Shemon; twin sister Alvina Omtvedt and Myron of Lake George, June Krause and Larry of Echo, Violet Alvheim of Plymouth, Melvin Luepke and Kathy of Bemidji, Linda Cole and Darrel of Vesta and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, brother Marvin and brother-in-law Marvin Alvheim.
Sunset Funeral Home of Echo handled arrangements.

Cora Gemsey
Cora A. Gemsey, 94, of Montevideo, died Sept. 18, 2003 at Luther Haven Nursing Home. Her funeral was held Sept. 22 in the Wing-Bain Funeral Chapel in Montevideo.
Cora Alphia Gemsey was born Aug, 22, 1909 in Ten Mile Lake Township to John and Anne (Angen) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Boyd High School and attended the Minneapolis Business College. She was employed in Minneapolis for several years before returning to the Montevideo area. Cora married Peder H. Gemsey on May 14, 1942.
She was involved in the senior citizen center, ladies aid, circle meetings and Bible study
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peder in September 1985, her sister Agnes and brother Henry.

Viola Sjoberg
Viola Sjoberg, 91, died Sept. 20, 2003 at the Granite Falls Municipal Manor. Her funeral was held Sept. 24 at the Hawk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Sacred Heart with Pastor Donald Clifford officiating. Burial was in the Hawk Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
Viola Elizabeth (Ready) Sjoberg was born on Sept. 2, 1912 in Minneapolis to Austin and Mary Ann (Ginther) Ready. She was raised in the metropolitan area and later met and married Hjalmer Sjoberg. They farmed in the Granite Falls area for most of their married lives. Hjalmer died in August of 1983.
Due to failing health, Viola had become a resident of the Granite Falls Manor.
Viola is survived by her brother Daniel L. Ready and his wife Shirley of Minneapolis; her sister-in-law, Helen Duffy and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and two sisters.

Ralph B. Appelseth
Ralph B. Appelseth, 68, of Enterprise KS, died Sept. 18, 2003 at the Memorial Hospital in Abilene, KS. Services wee held at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene on Sept. 22. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Enterprise, KS.
Ralph Appelseth was born Oct. 22, 1934 at Clarkfield to Henry and C. Faye (Beightol) Appelseth. He grew up in the Clarkfield area and graduated from high school. He graduated from Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis, and attended North Central Bible College. On June 17, 1956 he married Joyce Dean in Falls City, NE. They lived in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri and Minnesota prior to moving to Kansas in 1965.
He worked for the Ehrsam Company retiring in 1999. He attended the Abilene Brethren in Christ Church and later the First Church of the Nazarene, Salina, KS where he was very active. He was also a member of the city council many years.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; two sons, Ralph, Enterprise, KS and Charles of Manhattan, KS; a daughter, Deana Long and husband Steve, White Cloud, KS; three sisters, Verna Stone, Stillwater, Elsie Carlson, Clarkfield, and JoAnne Weathers, Hot Springs, AR and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Memorials may be made to Global Missions, the Enterprise Fire Dept. or the Enterprise Estates Nursing Home

Boyd Sanderson
Boyd Anton Sanderson, 85 of Redding, CA, died March 23, 2003. A private memorial service, officiated by Pastor Bruce Kuenzel, was held at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church Oct. 4 with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the Granite Falls Legion and VFW Color Guard.
Boyd was born Sept. 26, 1917 in Minneota to Dr. and Mrs. Anton G. Sanderson. Boyd’s father was one of Granite Falls early mayors and “country” doctors who lived to witness the transition of visiting patients by horse-drawn buggy to visiting patients by car.
Boyd entered the Marine Corps in 1937 and was discharged in 1941, less than three weeks before WWII began. He reentered the Army Air Corps, received his wings and piloted B-25s and B-17s. He was discharged the second time in 1945. He continued his military career in the Air Force Reserves and remained active until retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1977.
He attended the U of MN and received an MS in hospital administration. He managed hospitals in several cities. Boyd eventually retired from the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA in 1976.
He was civic minded, serving his church, several rotary clubs, local government, the American Legion, VFW, Elks, TROA, Reserve Officers Assn., charter member of the Granite Falls MN Masons and a member of the Scottish Rites and Shriners.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret; twin daughters, Barbara Strandell (John) and Kathleen Olson (Wayne); three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Ann Lokken Sanderson (Boyd and Ann had attended Granite Falls schools where they graduated together); his brother Dr. David Sanderson and sister Sybil McClure.
Memorials are preferred to the Granite Falls Lutheran Church foundation.

Harlan Martinson
Harlan Martinson, 67, died Oct. 8, 2003 at the Clarkfield Care Center. Graveside services were held Oct. 10 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Boyd with Pastor Ryan Fischer officiating. Military rites were by the Boyd American Legion Oien-Horgen Post #198.
Harlan Dennis Martinson was born Dec. 30, 1935 at the Clarkfield Hospital to Oscar and Olga (Anderson) Martinson. He was baptized at the English Lutheran Church of Boyd and graduated from Boyd High School in 1953.
Harley worked for the Culverism Club in St. Louis Park for several years and then worked in construction work and on highline power lines, first in the Boyd-Montevideo area and then in Colorado, North Dakota and Montana. He also worked for Hanson Construction of Boyd.
Harley served in the U.S. Army from 1958-60, serving part of his career in Germany. He suffered a heart attack in February of 2003, but previously to that he had spent nine years on kidney dialysis. He entered the Clarkfield Care Center in June of this year.
He is survived by his daughter Ramona (& Robert) Schmitz of Springfield and special friend Giena Nilson of Boyd; grandchildren Cory Schmitz of Springfield, Kristy (and Troy) Booth of New Ulm ad Kelly and Katie Jo Schmitz, of Springfield; great-grandchildren: MacKenzie, Jayda, Jaydon, Taylor, Gavin and Ethan; brother Duane (and Ruth) Martinson of Okoboji, IA, and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield handled arrangements.
