Ruby M. Kellett
Ruby M. Kellett of Railview Apartments in Proctor died Sat., Feb. 15, 2003, in Lakeshore Lutheran Home. She was 93.

She was born in Duluth to Christ and Helga (Mathison) Johnson. Ruby was a Duluth resident for most of her life, living in Proctor since 1986. She had been an employee of St. Luke's Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Forbes United Methodist Church in Proctor and Railview Apartments Action Club.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include sons Robert E. (Mary) Kellett of Bella Vista, Ark. and Richard H. (Marlene) Kellett of Lillian, Ala., seven grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.

Entombment was at Sunrise Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.

Mark E. Bourgeault
Services were held last Tuesday for Mark E. Bourgeault of Ugstad Road. He died at home Sat., Feb. 15, 2003. He was 51.

Mark was born in Duluth to Marcel and Mary (Thome) Bourgeault. He was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church and he enjoyed listening to music.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother Mary, and his brother Dean.

He is survived by his father Marcel of Duluth, his aunts and uncles Arthur (Margaret) Bourgeault, Lucille Swanson, Eleanor (Gene) Disch, and Rene Bourgeault, and many cousins.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.

Jennie Lorraine Baublitz
Services will be held today (Feb. 20) for Jennie Lorraine Baublitz of Proctor. She died Sat., Feb. 15 in Fairview Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was 68.

The Lindahl Rd. resident was born in 1934 to Fred and Anna Lind. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Proctor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ellsworth (Millie) Lind, sisters Dorothy (Bill) Janke and Laura (Arne) Rathe, and special friends Rosie Haga and Lila Mae Weller.

Jennie is survived by her husband Merlin, daughters Kathie (Tony) Swader of Grand Portage, Deborah Hansen of Duluth and Roxanne (Tim) Peterson of Saginaw, sons Steven (Denise) Baublitz of Cloquet, John Baublitz of Alborn and Tom Baublitz of Duluth, 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brothers Morrie (Helen) Lind, Fred Lind and Curtis (Darlene) Lind, and many nieces and nephews.

Service at 1 p.m. today at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 701 N. Third Ave., Proctor with Pastor Jeff Holter officiating.

David A. Fair
Services will be held Saturday for David A. Fair. The Proctorite lost his six-month battle with cancer Sun., Feb. 16, 2003. He died in his home at the age of 63.

At age 15, David went on the road with his father who taught him how to drive semi-trailer trucks. He had driven coast-to-coast for 48 years. He was a war history buff, passionate fisherman, classic film fan, and an authority on America's road and highway system.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

David is survived by his wife Virginia Fredricks Fair, a daughter, three sons, three grandchildren, two brothers, and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held Sat., Feb. 22, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave. with Pastor Stefan Potuznik officiating.

Benjamin Caleb Gerard
Frank and Norma Gerard of Pike Lake are mourning the loss of their grandson, Benjamin Caleb Gerard. He died Wed., Feb. 5, 2003 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 19.

The Esko resident was born in Cloquet, the son of William and June (Mackey) Gerard. He was a 2002 graduate of Esko High School and was looking forward to enlisting in the military very soon. He attended Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle.

Ben is also survived by his parents Bill and June Gerard of Esko, a sister, two brothers, his maternal grandmother, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Helen Dolores Ellefson Quiding
Helen Dolores Ellefson Quiding, who was born in Proctor and was a lifelong resident, died Mon., Feb. 17, 2003 at the Franciscan Health Center. She was 81.

She was born in 1922 in Proctor. She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and graduated from Proctor High School. She had worked for Klearflax Linen Co., DM&IR at the Wolvin Building, and later as a legal secretary. She enjoyed singing with the American Legion Chorus.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, and former husband Richard Quiding.

She is survived by her sister, six nieces, four nephews, and several grandnieces and grand nephews.

Burial was at Oneota Cemetery.

Charles 'Chip' Schneider
Former Proctor Police Chief Scott Schneider is mourning the death of his brother Charles 'Chip' Schneider of Cotton. He died Thurs., Feb. 20, 2003, in St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice. He was 44.

He was born in 1958 in Cloquet to Hank and Helen (Prevost) Schneider. He graduated from Cotton High School. Chip worked for Ulland Brothers and was a member of labor local #1091 in Duluth, and St. Mary's Church in Meadowlands.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors also include his wife Kelly, children Bryan, Lynn and Amber, one other brother, two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Interment will be at New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet, in the spring.

Donald F. 'Don' Shaw
Robert Shaw of Saginaw is mourning the loss of his father Donald F. 'Don' Shaw of Tower. He died Wed., Feb. 19, 2003, in the Eveleth Arrowhead Senior Living Community. He was 72.

Don was born in Hagen Twp., Minn. He married Mitsuko Ito in 1953 in Fukuoka, Japan. Don served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and, after his discharge, moved to the Tower area. He was employed by Erie Mining Company as a furnace operator.

Survivors also include his wife Mitsuko of Tower, four other children, a brother, three sisters, a sister-in-law, and eight grandchildren.

Spring interment will be at Vermilion Lake Township Cemetery.

Janet Alice Burns
Former Proctor resident Janet Alice Burns died Tues., Feb. 18, 2003 in a Duluth hospital. She was 88.

She was born in 1914 in Duluth. She attended Denfeld High School and had been employed as a machine operator for the former Van Vick Paper Co. for 25 years. Janet married Emmett Burns in 1934 in Duluth. She was a member of Indianhead Boat Club, a bridge club and was a former member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son Robert (Maxeen) Burns of Cloquet, daughter Barbara Foucault of Duluth, two brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Inurnment was in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.

Fredrick Berlin, Jr.
A private family service will be held for lifelong Proctorite, Fredrick "Fred" Berlin, Jr.. He died Mon., Mar. 3, 2003 in his home. He was 86.

He was born in Proctor in 1916 to Fredrick and Emma (Ostman) Berlin. Fred completed two terms of service with the Civilian Conservation Corps before he went to serve his country in the Army during World War II. He worked for the DM&IR until he retired. He was a member of the Euclid Masonic Lodge AF&AM, VFW Post #71, Senior Bowlers and the Harbor Masters singing group.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Molly and sisters Agnes Edlund and Vivienne Berlin.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Jim) Jacobsen of Ontario, New York, and Kris (Steve) Swanstrom of Saginaw, grandchildren Jeff, Kirsten, Zachery, Aaron and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Brodie and Kristin; and nieces, Madelien (Robert) Franks of Duluth and Jeanine (Duane) Benoit of Proctor.

Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery.

Arrangements by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.

Alvin "Al" W. Hoffman, 66, of Morgan, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at the Redwood Area Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan, with burial in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in rural Morgan.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Morgan, and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife Ruth of Morgan, his children, Cheryl Boettcher and husband Charles of Hutchinson, David Buchhop of Racine, Sandra Bulau of Dayton, Ohio, Bonnie Lund and husband Jim of Franklin and Audrey Sellner of Roseville; nine grandchildren, and sisters, Julene Werner and husband Leeun of Little Falls and Shirley Hoffman of Wabasso.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie, a granddaughter, Tristan and a sister Doris.
He was born Nov. 26, 1935, on the family farm in New Avon Twp., Redwood County, to Walter and Hertha (Kuehn) Hoffman. He attended District 8 elementary school and Wabasso High School, graduating in 1954. He married Ruth Guhlke Sellner in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 25, 1979. They lived in Morgan. He worked at Puzzle Craft in Wabasso and Harvestland Coop in Morgan as an LP truck driver. He also worked in road construction. He worked as a security guard at Jackpot Junction for nine years retiring in 1998, more recently working there on a part time basis. He was also working part time for Ben Eischens.
He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan. He served in the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1953 until 1962.

Virginia Baumhofer, 86, of Arlington, died Sunday at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m., Thursday at the church. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements.
Virginia is survived by son Charles and wife Patty Baumhofer of Longwood, Fla; two daughters, Judy and husband Keith McCormick of Hillsboro, Wis., and Christine and husband Robert Jackson of Burnsville; a sister Kathleen and husband Wayne Foil of Arlington; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Virginia was born in Arlington on Sept. 15, 1915, to Charles and Nora (Ryan) Schafer. She was a 1938 graduate of Arlington High School, and attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in St. Paul. Virginia worked several years as a registered nurse. She married Richard Baumhofer on Sept. 1, 1938, at Assumption Catholic Church in St. Paul. Other than a very short stay at the Gaylord Lakeview Home, Virginia was a resident of Arlington since 1979.

Hildegarde 'Hilda' Maidl, 83, of 500 Lafayette Avenue in Lafayette, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette with burial in the church cemetery in Lafayette.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
She is survived by her sister, Dolores Preisinger of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Edna Maidl, Clarence and Betty Maidl, all of Lafayette, Leo Maidl of rural Lafayette; sister-in-law, Delila Maidl of New Ulm; 13 nieces and nephews; 21 great nieces and nephews; and seven great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Victor J. Maidl and Harold Maidl; sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Albert Swenson; and a brother-in-law, Henry Preisinger.
Hilda was born Feb. 26, 1918 in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County to Joseph and Bertha (Schaeffler) Maidl. She attended country school and graduated from Lafayette Public School. In her early years she was employed at the Cudahay Packing Plant. She was employed at the Lafayette Municipal Liquor Store ending her career there as manager in 1980. She was a resident of the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in Winthrop for a short time. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette and was a member of the CCW Altar Society.

Daniel E. Ourada, 21 of Lucan, died Dec. 29 2001 as a result an automobile accident.
Mass of Christian burial will be hold at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday all at the church. Burial is in the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Falls. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He was born May 24, 1980 in Sprinfield to Terry and Laurie (Knott) Ourada. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Victory, Lucan. He attended school at Our Lady of Victory, Lucan and Wabasso Public, graduating in 1998. While in high school he was a member and captain of the Wabasso Rabbits wrestling team, he was in FFA, played football and baseball. He went to college at Southwest State University, Marshall. He was majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching. He was a member of the SSU Mustang Wrestling team. When he wasn't busy wrestling at SSU, he was coaching his three younger brothers and his godchild Dominic in wrestling techniques.
Daniel worked for Tom Moore construction as a foreman in the summer months and helped his father on the farm with chores and fieldwork.
He is survived by his parents, Terry and Laurie Ourada of Lucan, his sister, Andrea, Mankato; brothers, Brandon, Michael and Dominic at home; his special friend Shannon Kumpf of Marshall, his grandmothers, Marcia Knott of Lucan and Marcia Ourada of Wabasso, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by hiss grandfathers Edward Knott and Francis Ourada.

Wilbert G. Rambow, 83, of Sleepy Eye died Saturday at St. Johns Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial at the Springfield City Cemetery, with military honors.
Visitation will be noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
He is survived in death by his wife, Grace Rambow of Sleepy Eye; children, Janice and husband Lynn Sandhoefner of Minnetonka; Gary and wife Bev Rambow of Mankato; Cheryl and husband Harry Patz of Acme, Wash.; and Tim Rambow and Deb Carlson of Morgan; seven grandchildren; four great-grandsons; sisters, Elvira Meyer of Springfield and Eleanor Marsalek of Minneapolis; brothers, Arthur and wife Beverly Rambow of Maple Grove, and Alvin Rambow of Nevis.
Wilbert was born July 24, 1918, in Springfield, the son of William and Ella (Seidl) Rambow. He grew up and attended school in Springfield. After he completed his schooling Wilbert joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and worked for a few years in northern Minnesota and Oregon. He married Grace M. Norell on Oct. 6, 1942, in Martinet, Calif., Wilbert served in the infantry for the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacific, Washington D.C. and California. After his honorable discharged the couple made their home in Sleepy Eye, where Wilbert worked for Pietrus Foods until retiring in 1984. Wilbert was the caretaker for the Dyckman Library in Sleepy Eye from 1984 until 1999. He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.
