Shirley Ann Murphy
Shirley Ann Murphy, 80, died July 19, 2004 at the SCMC Hospice Courage Cottage in Morris. Services will be held Friday, July 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris with Fr. Nathan Packard and Deacon Stan Hennen officiating. Dorothy Vick is pianist and song leader. Jere Solvie is soloist. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. July 22, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and also one hour prior to services on Friday.
Pallbearers are grandchildren: Mike Murphy and Krista Murphy. Honorary pallbearers are Carol Boettcher, Avis Brandt, Jane Schaffhausen, Betty Ettesvold, Francis Murphy, Florence Murphy, Lorna Driggins, all who called her friend and all who provided care for Shirley.
Shirley Ann Murphy was born Dec. 7, 1923 in New Prairie Township in Pope County to Carl and Inga Anderson. She graduated from Cyrus High School in 1942. She worked at various cafes in Morris and Cyrus. She married Timothy Murphy on July 27, 1949.
Shirley was a member of St. Petri Church in Cyrus and later confirmed, along with her sons, in the Assumption Catholic Church. She was a member of the Assumption Guild.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy of Cyrus; two sons: Bob Murphy (Denise Brownfield) of Minneapolis, and Dan Digger (Rose) Murphy of Morris; two grandchildren: Mike Murphy of Alexandria and Krista Murphy of Nashville, TN; four sisters: Carol Boettcher of Morris, Avis Brandt of Morris, Jane Schaffhausen of Rogers and Betty Ettesvold of Granite Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law: Lois and Walt Boett-cher; brothers-in-law: Arnie Boettcher, Ray Brandt, Roy Schaffhausen, Dale Ettesvold, Willie Murphy and Joe Murphy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dolsey and Lloyd Degendorfer.
Pederson Funeral Home of Morris handled arrangements.

Harry R. Lindblad
Harry R. Lindblad, 91, of Granite Falls, died July 15, 2004, at his residence. His funeral was held July 19 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Knutson officiating. Burial was in the Granite Falls City Cemetery.
Harry R. Lindblad was born on Jan. 29, 1913 to Henry A. and Anna M. Lindblad on a farm southwest of Hanley Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran. The family moved to a farm north of Granite Falls in 1922. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1932.
Harry served his country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in May of 1943. He farmed north of Granite Falls from 1943 to 1956. From 1956 to 1978 he worked in the radio and television repair business in Renville. Upon retirement, he moved back to Granite Falls in 1978. He was a member of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and the Granite Falls American Legion.
Harry is survived by his sister Amy Agre of Granite Falls and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Astrid Tomes and one brother Erik Lindblad.
Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls handled arrangements.

Glenn C. Reichert
Glenn C. Reichert, 88, died July 16, 2004 at the Lakeview Good Samaritan Home in Glenwood. A visitation service was held Monday evening, July 19, at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Terry Brandt presiding. There will be a private burial at a later date in the Clarkfield City Cemetery.
Glenn C. Reichert was born Nov. 13, 1915 in Lac qui Parle County to Delmar and Helena (Bethke) Reichert. He graduated from Ortonville High School. Glenn and Violet A. VonEschen were married June 14, 1940.
Following graduation Glenn moved to Clarkfield and operated Standard Oil. He sold the business in 1943 when he entered the military. Glenn was in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945.
Glenn returned to Clarkfield following his discharge. He worked for Winge Ford until 1949 when he and Haines Ford built the Hudson Dealership. He had the Ford Motor dealership from 1958-1965.
In 1977 he became a full-time mail carrier, after substituting for 22 years. He retired in 1980. Glenn moved to Starbuck following the death of his wife Vi in 1987. He helped get the senior nutrition center built in Glenwood and was a member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church and American Legion of Glenwood.
He is survived by his good friends, Gene and Sherry Kockelman and their son Jeff and family and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vi and brothers Ken and Forest and sisters Lucille and Elaine.

Jon Soine
Jon Soine, 50, of Maynard, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Clara City Care Center.
Memorial services were held on Monday, October 19 at the Maynard Lutheran Church.

Joseph J. Coubal
Joseph J. Coubal, 92, of Graceville, formerly of Redwood Falls, Big Stone Lake and Hazel Run, died Sunday, October 18, 2009, at the Graceville Hospital in Graceville.

Kathleen Oakland
Kathleen Oakland, 65, of Granite Falls, died October 11, 2009 in the Granite Falls Hospital after a battle with cancer. Private family services will be held and memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in memory of Kathleen.

Jack Joseph Richter
The Mass of Christian Burial for Jack Joseph Richter was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the First Lutheran Church of Britton, with Rev. Fr. John Brophy, celebrant.

Kathleen Bott
Kathleen Bott, 87, died October 10, 2009 at the Sunrise Manor in Tyler.
Memorial services were held October 13 at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Weston officiating. Organist was Arlyss Johnson. Urn bearers were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Hazel Run Lutheran Cemetery, Hazel Run.

Virgil Mortenson
Virgil Mortenson, 84, of Granite Falls died October 3, 2009 at the Granite Falls Manor.
Funeral services were held October 10 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls.

Maxine Haugom
Maxine S. Haugom, 90, of Watertown, SD, died on October 10, 2009 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tom Christenson officiating. Kathy Alwin will be the soloist, accompanied by Dorothy Brugman.
Interment will be in the Lorinda Cemetery, Henry, SD.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel, and on Thursday prior to services at the church.

Virgil Mortenson, 84, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday, Octobr 3, 2009, at the Granite Falls Manor in Granite Falls.

Jeffrey Dahl
Jeffrey Dahl, 56, of Cottonwood, died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

Florence Sietsema
Florence Sietsema, 79, of Clara City, formerly of the Sacred Heart area, died Saturday at the Clara City Care Center.

Jay Kwestel
“Jay” (John Joseph) Kwestel, beloved father, brother and friend, age 40, of Morton, Minnesota passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 22th, 2009 at his residence.
He was born on November 3, 1968 in Long Island, New York, the son of George DeMaille and Roberta Shockley.

Ellsworth Frederickson
Ellsworth Frederickson, 90, of Renville, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Ren Villa Heath Center.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hawk Creek Lutheran Church.
Burial and military honors were held at the church cemetery.

Inghart Alness
Inghart Alness, 83, of Granite Falls died at the Clara City Care Center on Sunday, September 27, 2009.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon, October 4, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church in Granite Falls.
Visitation begins one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
