Irene Holen
Irene Holen, 63, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hos-pital in Montevideo.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, with Rev. Willie Rosin officiating. Interment was in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Irene Marie (Mulenburg) Holen was born January 26, 1948 at Granite Falls, the daughter of Robert and Delilah (Lanning) Mulenburg. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1966. Irene was a stay at home mom where she also did day care and worked at Carl’s Bakery. She moved to Montevideo in 1987 and was united in marriage with Terry Holen on June 27, 1987 at Watson Lutheran Church. She was a seamstress and she operated Irene’s Creations and later made Memory Bears. Irene enjoyed gardening, flowers and helping others. She also was the cook for deer camp.

Larry Loken
Larry Loken, 58, of Granite Falls, died Friday, October 21, 2011 in Maplewood.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 6:15 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Larry Roy Loken was born March 17, 1953, the son of LeRoy and Doloris (Decker) Loken, in Montevideo. He was baptized in March of 1953 and confirmed in April of 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from the Montevideo High School.
Larry was united in marriage to Pamela Waller on September 6, 1980, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a machinist for 30 years, from 1975 until his retirement in 1998, working for Plews and Rodgers in Granite Falls.

Arnold Weise
Arnold Weise, 78, of Cottonwood, formerly of Clarkfield, died Thursday, October 12, 2011 at the Renvilla Nursing in Renville.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011 from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Arnold Weise was born on October 11, 1933 in Lafayette Township in Nicollet County to Leonard and Emma (Wiegers) Weise. He Graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1952. Arnold farmed all his life. He enjoyed reading and visiting.
He is survived by several cousins and preceded in death by his parents. Blessed be his memory.
Arrangements were with the Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso.

Myrtle “Myrt” Osmundson
Myrtle “Myrt” Osmundson, 82, of East Grand Forks. Minnesota, formerly of Clarkfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 18, in Mendenhall Presby-terian Church, in East Grand Forks. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
Myrtle Rosalie Osmundson was born on May 29, 1929 in Clarkfield, the daughter of Basil and Geneva (Oakland) Johnson. Myrt grew up and attended school in Clarkfield, graduating from Clarkfield High School. Following her high school graduation she went on and attended business school in St. Paul, graduating with a Business degree. Myrt worked for the University of Minnesota in the Dean’s office on the Farm Campus. On November 1, 1952 she was united in marriage to Richard “Doc” Osmundson in St. Paul. They moved to East Grand Forks where she worked for Carlton Nelson Attorney’s Office and also worked as the office manager for Osmundson Dental Office in East Grand Forks.

Alfred Petersen
Alfred Petersen, 85, of Clara City passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Clara City Care Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 9 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Burial followed on Monday, October 10, at Louriston Township Cemetery.
Alfred Eugene Petersen was born September 14, 1926 in Montevideo, the son of Alfred E. and Alfie (Ingstad) Petersen. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Kerkhoven. He lived and farmed most of his life in Louriston Township in Chippewa County. Alfred enjoyed working with livestock and the horse drawn equipment while working with his dad and uncles in Louriston Township. On June 12, 1954 Alfred was united in marriage to Betty Jane Mitteness at Swift Falls Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with six children, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Donald R. Nelson
The spirit and soul of Donald Raymond Nelson, age 90, were freed from this fragile life on Friday, October 7, 2011. Don, held Clarkfield as his home for most of his life. He stepped into eternal glory from his latest residence in Colorado Springs, CO where he was living with his son, Chris, for the past 3 years. He was released from his frail body to receive an incorruptible one in the presence of God.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Montevideo, officiated by the Rev. Bruce Jarmin. Burial will follow at the Clarkfield City Cemetery in Clarkfield.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield.
Don was born in Clarkfield on November 11, 1920, the son of Adolph “Shorty” Nelson and Mabel Nelson. He spent his growing up years and most of his married years in Clarkfield. He married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Elkjer, on February 10, 1945 while he was still serving in the Army Air Corp. As WWII drew to a close, they returned to Clarkfield. Don’s love for God and for his family was central to his life as he raised three children, teaching them a love for God and family. Don’s legacy continues in the lives he and Marge have touched through their many prayers, continual encouragements and tangible support within their family and with many in the community.

Patrick McDaniel
Patrick McDaniel, 52, of Granite Falls, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Granite Falls Manor.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 3, 2011, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church.
Patrick D. McDaniel was born March 27, 1959, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of A.D. “Mac” and Lavern (Sundermann) McDaniel. He was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls in 1959 and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown, South Dakota. As a young boy he enjoyed living on the farm and playing cowboys with his brothers. He was a member of the Altamont 4-H Club where he enjoyed showing livestock and going to the state fair. He was also a member of the FFA in high school and held numerous offices. He graduated from Clear Lake, South Dakota High School in 1977. He went on to attend Minnesota West Technical College in Granite Falls and studied Fluid Power Technology. While in college he was president of the Fluid Power Club and won several awards. Following graduation he moved to Ohio to work for N.J. Fauver Company. He was an award winning salesman and was innovative and inventive in making machines work and labor easier and more effective. In 1998, he transferred back to Granite Falls to work for Sunsource/Fauver. He retired on disability in 2003.

Corella Hamre
Corella Eleanora Hamre, 88, of Sacred Heart, died Monday, September 26, 2011, at the Granite Falls Manor.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 30 at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church near Sacred Heart, officiated by the Rev. Dan Bowman. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Corella Eleanora Hamre was born October 15, 1922, near Belview to Olaf and Adella (Rakke) Oie. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1940. Corella was united in marriage to Harry Hamre on March 26, 1944, at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. She was a member of Hawk Creek Lutheran Church, Ladies Auxiliary and Magdalene Circle, the Minnesota Farmers Union, was a 4-H Club Leader, the Sons of Norway, Valdres Samband, and the Wang Homemakers. She enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles, playing cards, and quilting at church.

Bradley Borass
Bradley Boraas, 46, passed away at his residence in the morning hours of Monday, December 26, 2011, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer,.
Memorial services were held on Monday, January 2, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.
Bradley Amer Boraas was born on June 13, 1965, in Montevideo, the son of Amer Curtis and Virginia Leone (Augeson) Boraas. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson on August 1, 1965 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church on October 22, 1980. He attended and graduated from high school in Dawson and received his post high school education at Canby Vocational Technical College.
On May 19, 2007, Bradley was united in marriage to Juliane Evonne Sturm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Bradley was a welder at Par Piping & Fabrication in Granite Falls and enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activities throughout the year, including hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Snow Drifters Snowmobile Club and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He loved spending time with his children and family and was especially fond of his pets.

Jay Lenning
Jay Lenning, 48, of Montevideo passed away Monday, December 26, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family and friends after his brave and courageous fight with ALS.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Pastor Tim Ehling officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Jay Dennis Lenning was born July 10, 1963 in Montevideo, the son of Dennis and Jan (Kintzi) Lenning. He was baptized into the Christian faith on November 22, 1963 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
Jay grew up and attended school in Montevideo graduating with the class of 1982. He continued his education at Granite Falls Vo-Tech in Machine Tool Technology graduating in 1984.
On September 26, 1987 Jay was united in marriage to Kelly Mills and to this union two children were born.

Arthur N. Hermanson
Arthur N. Hermanson, 96, of Boyd, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, officiated by Pastor Lori Wold. Burial followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Boyd.
Arthur Norman Hermanson was born Oct. 29, 1915 on the family farm south of Boyd to parents Henry and Dorothea Hermanson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd. He attended and graduated from Boyd High School.
Art was the youngest of six children, so he stayed home and "farmed with Dad." During his early years, our country was ravaged by the dust bowl and hard times which he called the "Dirty Thirties". During this time, Art and his father Henry were barely able to hold onto the family farm. Hard physical work was everywhere, but he enjoyed and was proud to be the farming son.

Ruth Jorgenson
Ruth Esther (Rottunda) Jorgenson, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Springdale Foster Home, El Paso, Texas, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 12, 2012, 11:00 A.M., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday late afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5–7 P.M. and a prayer service at 6:30 P.M.
Ruth Esther Rottunda, daughter of Max Carl Frederick Rottunda and Lillian Malvina Swanson, was born on May 31, 1923, at the family home in Baker Township, Osceola County, Iowa. Ruth was baptized in St. John’s Lutheran Church at May City, Iowa, on July 22, 1923, and confirmed in April of 1938 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Montevideo. On September 15, 1946, she married Robert Warren Jorgenson, son of Engebret Johannes Jorgenson and Elise Marie Erlandson of Montevideo, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
