Florence Haugen
Florence (Shoer) Haugen, 85, formerly of Echo, passed away January 10, 2012, at North Ridge Care Center in New Hope.
Services were held Tuesday, January 17 from Sunset Funeral Home in Echo, with burial in the Echo cemetery.
Florence Ione Clifford was born October 16, 1926 in Harvey, Illinois, the daughter of Warren and Vienna (Murdock) Clifford. As a young child, she grew up in Payne. She was baptized and confirmed in the Meadowlands American Lutheran Church. She graduated from Meadowlands High School in 1945. She married Alfred Anderson in 1945. Born to this union were 3 children, Alice, Vienna and Robert. In 1955 Florence and the children moved to Redwood Falls. She married Clarence Schoer in 1958. Born to this union was one daughter, Marie. Clarence Schoer died in 1982. Florence married Perry Haugen in 1994. He died in 1997. She worked as a nurse’s aide and an LPN in Granite Falls for 17 years. Florence has been a resident of North Ridge Nursing Home for two years.

Trudy Wilson
Trudy Wilson, 84, of Hazel Run passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, January 20, 3:00 p.m. at Hazel Run Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be on Friday from 1:30-3:00 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are with Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield.

Judith Lewison
Judith Lewison, 91, formerly of Granite Falls, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Granite Falls Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to services.
Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Vinessa Lozano

Vinessa Lozano, 18, of Montevideo, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21 at Community Bible Church in Montevideo. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Bible Church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Vinessa Victoria Lozano was born June 2, 1993, in Willmar, the daughter of Eric and Robin (Paradee) Lozano. She moved with her family to Montevideo in 2006. She played volleyball in junior high, worked at Pizza Ranch and was active on the yearbook staff during high school. Vinessa graduated from the Montevideo High School in 2011. She started working at Luther Haven Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant in October of 2011. She was a student at Minnesota West Community and Technical College at the Granite Falls Campus.

Edna Fagen
Edna Fagen, 91, of Granite Falls, formerly of the Maynard area, died Friday evening at McKenna Crossing in Prior Lake.
Funeral services were held on Monday at Maynard Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to services at the church and following the services at the Maynard Event Center.
Edna Mae Burns was born on February 7, 1920, in Morristown, South Dakota, the daughter of John S. and Ella (Evans) Burns. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
In early childhood, Edna and her family moved to rural Granite Falls, but throughout her life she kept close ties with the homestead in Morristown. Edna enjoyed rural life and often relayed stories about country school, how she loved school activities, class plays, and participating in school events. Edna graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1940.

Vernon Hempel
Vernon Hempel, 90, of Granite Falls, died Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Granite Falls Hospital.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 14 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls.
Vernon Walter Hempel, 90, of Granite Falls, was called to his eternal home on January 9, 2012, at the Granite Falls Hospital surrounded by four generations of loving family. He was born on June 7, 1921 in Hanley Falls, the eighth of 13 siblings, the son of Ernest and Anna (Ulken) Hempel. Vernon was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Granite Falls and confirmed at the Hanley Falls Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Doris Thomasson on November 16, 1941. To this union, one daughter, Rebecca Ann was born. Vernon and Doris lived in Milan, where he was a trucker for Albert Lea Trucking. They moved to Granite Falls in 1950 where he worked for Mooney’s Construction for a brief period of time before he joined Hempel Brothers Partner-ship Masonry and Bricklaying.

Charlene V. Dixon
Charlene V. (Doose) Dixon, 56, of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 16 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, officiated by Pastor Lori Wold, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Charlene VeAne Doose was born on May 18, 1955 in Montevideo to parents Charles and Ruby (Agre) Doose. She was the second of five children. She attended and graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School.
Charlene lived in Shell Lake, Wisconsin most of her life. She and her husband operated a Carpet Cleaning Service and she also was an EMT.

Steve E. ‘Beebop’ Silverlieb
Steve E. 'Beebop' Silverlieb died on January 8, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul.
Steve was born in St. Louis Park on August 2, 1948. He retired in Granite Falls. He loved ping pong in Granite Falls and his Sunday night ritual.
He will be missed by many including his kids, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and sister-in-law.
We will all miss you. Thank you for all the love you gave us.

Veronice Grieger
Veronice Grieger, 91, of Wood Lake, passed away January 8, 2012, at the Granite Falls Manor in Granite Falls.
Services will be held Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. with Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Friday, January 13, 2012 at the church.
Veronice Florence Grieger, was born March 14, 1920 in Cottonwood County near Lamberton, to Fred and Ida (Conrad) Conrad. She was baptized April 18, 1920 and confirmed June 30, 1935 in the Lutheran faith.

Ione Akre
Ione Akre, 81, of Montevideo, formerly of Granite Falls, passed away December 31, 2011, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Services were held Wednesday, January 11, at 2:30 p.m. from the Assembly of God Church in Granite Falls, with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Sioux Agency Township, rural Echo.
Ione Jean Akre was born March 14, 1930 at home in Sioux Agency Township, to George and Anna (Rekedahl) Akre. She went to school and grew up in the Echo area until she moved with her parents to Granite Falls. She worked as a nursing assistant at the Clarkfield Nursing Home and the Granite Manor for about 35 years. She was a caregiver and also cared for her parents in their home. Ione loved animals and had a dog all her life. It was hard for her when she had to give up her dog, Mitz. She also had a collection of dolls which she loved. Ione loved her family and enjoyed visiting with them. Ione embroidered dish towels and pillowcases for her family.

Donavon D. Williams
Donavon D. Williams, 82, of Clarkfield, died April 6, 2005, at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held April 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Montevideo with Fr. Jim Devorak officiating. Organist was Sue Botten and soloist and song leader, Jim O'Malley.
Casketbearers were grandchildren: Todd Williams, Dr. Sara Mousel-Williams, Michael Williams, Laura Williams, Matthew Williams and T.J. Williams. Interment was in the Clarkfield City cemetery.
Donavon Dean Williams was born Dec. 4, 1922 in Amiret Township, Tracy, to Harold and Mabel (Yost) Williams. He graduated from Tracy High School. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Basilica in 1944.
Donavon married Vera Engels on June 24, 1944. They lived in Minneapolis about two years, then moved to Ghent for a year and then to their farm near Clarkfield where they lived for 27 years. They then moved into Clarkfield where they have resided for the last 26 years.
He is survived by his wife Vera of Clarkfield and his sons, Tom of Crystal, Steve of Kent, WA, and Jim (and Pam) of Clarkfield; six grandchildren: Todd, Sara, Mike, Laura, Matt and T.J. and two great-grandchildren: Grace and Hogen Williams; sisters Marge (and Merlyn) Cadwell and Katie (and Ted) Versluys; brothers: Arnie and Allen Williams and sister Diane (and David) Karlstad and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Elmer, Darvin, Lloyd and Carrol and sister Beverly Karlstad.
Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield handled arrangements.
