Viola C. Mueller

Funeral Services for Viola Mueller, 95 of Ortonville were held Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa.

Burial followed the service in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Odessa.

Viola Clara Wilhelmina Mueller was born Aug. 10, 1909, in Yellow Bank Twp., Lac qui Parle County, to Henry and Emma (Pansch) Mueller.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yellow Bank Twp. On July 8, 1923, Viola was confirmed by Rev. Theoder Thorma Hlerr. She attended school in Yellow Bank Twp graduating July 7, 1923.

As a young woman she moved to Madison to seek employment as a cook. She then moved to Morris and eventually to Minneapolis where she lived most of her adult life.

She found employment at Maaco Electronics where she worked until her retirement. She then spent her retirement years in Odessa where she enjoyed cooking meals for her family, gardening, fishing, and crocheting.

Viola left us on Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Ortonville Hospital in Ortonville at the age of 95 years.

Survivors include her sister, Valeria (James) Tuggle of Greenbank, WA; a brother, Gordon (Delores) Mueller of Ortonville; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Emma; and her brothers Delmar, Leonard, Marvin, and Emray.

The Larson Funeral Home of Ortonville was in charge of the arrangements.

Georgianna M. Schactman

Georgianna Mary Schactman ("Georgie"), 79, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on July 2, 2005.

Born in Minnesota on March 1, 1926, to Inez and Nye McCarty, Georgie grew up in Ortonville, Minnesota. She later resided mainly in Chicago, the Lake Minnetonka area of Minneapolis and, for the past 18 years, in Cottonwood. She was employed in the restaurant industry throughout her earlier years and, for the last 12 years, was a volunteer Senior Companion.

Georgie was preceded in death by her son, Daniel McCarty, and her brothers, Patrick, James, Martin and Dennis McCarty. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Schmidt (Richard); her brothers, Robert McCarty and Andrew McCarty (Karen); her sisters, Lucille Borgen, Mildred Washleski (Thomas), Margaret Mantifel; and Helen Mantifel (Raymond); her daughter in law, Carol McCarty; her grandchildren, Nye McCarty, Devlin McCarty, Shannon Weber, Gregory Jacobs and Tracy Ewing; three great-grandchildren and many, many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Georgie's pride and joy were her grandsons, Nye and Devlin, and their little dog, Oliver, who absolutely adored her. She had a big personality and a heart to match. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends and not forgotten by anyone else whose life she touched.

Archie A. Sealey

One of Ortonville's longest-standing businessmen, Archie A. Sealey, passed away last week, at the age of 85. He died July 10th at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

At his side when he passed away were his wife, daughter and granddaughter.

Since 1957, Archie, with wife Ivy, had owned and operated Sealey's Real Estate here. Prior to that, he was active in numerous other area firms, the most important and historical of which was the former Cashtown Grocery, started by his late parents, Clark and Virginia, and lastly operated by Archie's brother, Ralph.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held last Friday, July 15th, at St. John's Catholic church in Ortonville. Father Bob Goblirsch officiated.

At a prayer service Thursday, Tim Mundwiler, vocalist, provided the music. At Friday's services, music was presented by Pat Kunz, organist, and the St. John's choir.

Burial was in Mound Cemetery, Ortonville.

Honorary bearers were Randy Cordie, Arnie Anderson, Marv and Pat Hyatt, and Lowell and Lenore Sellin. Active pallbearers were Tom Cordie, John Sealey, John Reese, Tony Mosey, John Cordie, Mark Ahles, and Tara Moen.

Archie A. Sealey was born March 7, 1920, in Roundup, Montana. He was the son of Clark and Virgie (Glass) Sealey. He graduated from Ortonville High School and attended Associated Welding Laboratories at St. Paul.

He was united in marriage on April 14, 1940, with Ivadell Dornbusch.

Archie was the owner and operator of a welding shop in Aurora, IL. He was owner and manager of Cashtown Fruit Store in Ortonville.

He was the owner and manager of Idlewild Supper Club on Big Stone Lake, north of Big Stone City, SD and was owner and broker of Sealey's Real Estate in Ortonville since 1957.

Archie enjoyed horses and bred, raised and raced thoroughbred and quarter horses.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was one of the last living charter members of the Ortonville Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #407, having organized the club in September of 1947 .

Archie A. Sealey is survived by his wife, Ivadell "Ivy" of Ortonville, his children; Renee Cordie of Ortonville, and Sharon and husband Roger Folk of Coon Rapids; Lynn and wife Judith Sealey of Eagen and Niki and husband Rick Mosey of Ortonville; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Alona Sealey of Ortonville.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Cleo and Ralph, one sister, Phylis, one granddaughter, Holly Mosey, and one great granddaughter, Sealey Cordie/Porter.

Mundwiler Funeral Home of Milbank was in charge of the arrangements.

Anna “Ann” Hamner

Funeral Services for Anna “Ann” Hamner, 91, of Clinton, will be Tuesday, October 25, at 1:30 pm at the United Methodist Church in Clinton.

Visitation will be at the Moberg-Larson Funeral Home in Clinton from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, Oct. 24, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm.

Interment will be in the Clinton Cemetery following the funeral service.

Anna “Ann” Hamner was born July 22, 1914 to parents Herbert and Olive (Hayward) Docherty in Blue Rapids Kansas. Upon graduating high school, she worked for a time in the Twin Cities and then as a teacher.

On Dec. 16, 1945, Ann married J. W. Edwin Hamner at the Clinton Methodist Church. To this union three children were born; Jean, Lee, and Lynn. Ann and Edwin celebrated fifty-one years of marriage before his death in 1997.

Ann was a simple woman who enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer. Never wanting to waste a minute, she scurried about to get her tasks completed every day. She enjoyed baking homemade bread and pies and was known for her apple pies that she would bake for the county fair. Even if there was work to do, Ann would drop everything to spend time with her family. She enjoyed flying kites with her grandchildren, playing cribbage, and working in her garden. Ann was never known to speak a cross word about anyone and looked for the good in all those she met.

Ann passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005 at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley reaching the age of 91 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and four siblings; Foster, Kenneth, Helen, and Margret.

Ann is survived by her son Lee (Connie) Hamner of Beardsley; two daughters, Jean (Jim) Nordly of Rochester, Lynn (Greg) Werth of Zumbrota; five grandchildren, Eric, Heather, Michelle, Ryan, and Krista; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Douglas. She is also survived by her brother Robert and her sister Mildred.

The Moberg-Larson Funeral Home of Clinton is in charge of the arrangements.
