Edith Emelia Cooper

Funeral services for Edith Cooper of Morris, formerly of Clinton were held Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton.

Reverend David Hinrichs officiated.

Burial was at the Clinton City Cemetery.

Edith Emelia Cooper, also known as “Mama Bear” or “Grandma Coop”, was born Sept. 21, 1915 in rural Clinton to Gust and Anna (Anderson) Carlson.

Edith died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 92 years.

She is survived by three daughters: Connie (Mel) Wohlers of Morris, Shirley Cooper of Richfield and Karen Nerison of Bloomington; one son: Harold (Sandy) Cooper of Appleton; daughter-in-law: Carol Cooper of New Ulm; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Agnes (Kenny) Christeson of Clinton and sister-in-law: Jenny Carlson of Ortonville.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter at birth; one son: Mickey; one great-great-grandson; eight brothers; four sisters and a host of many friends.

Pallbearers for the service were Edith’s grandchildren: Kevin Wohlers, Diane Gregg, Doug Wohlers, Donny Wohlers, Keith Cooper, Gary Cooper, Donna Vosberg, Jimmy Cooper, Kristen Nerison and Joshua Nerison.

Honorary pallbearers were Edith’s great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Kathy Moberg served as organist for the service with Ann Nelson and Sherwin and Pam Linton providing special music.

Roger Paulsen

Funeral services for Roger Paulsen, 59, of Clinton, were held Monday, June 9, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. Reverend Arland Braaten-Lee officiated.

Burial was at Holden Cemetery in Beardsley.

Pallbearers were A.J. Polzin, Charlie Cardwell, Lenny Rau, Royce Paulsen, Jerome Nelson and Gary Arndt. Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren and his Godchildren.

Roger Wendell Paulsen was born on Aug. 28, 1948, to parents Wendell (Bud) and Gladys (Arndt) Paulsen at the family home in Prior Township, Big Stone County.

Roger was called Home on June 4, 2008, surrounded by his family at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Roger is survived by his wife Diana of Clinton; children, Troy (Jennifer) of St. Cloud, Wendi (Chad) Pistorius of Browns Valley, Kimberly of Clinton, and Casey (Courtney) of New Hope; grandchildren Brennan and Dylan Paulsen, Mariah, Carter and Grayson Pistorius, Keane, Hunter and Mataiah Turner, Alexandra and Owen Paulsen; mother, Gladys Paulsen of Ortonville; sisters, Patricia (Leroy) Hamann of Ortonville, Paulette (Dennis) Bakeberg of Blaine, Jeanette (Randy) Polhamus of Kirkland, WA; brother, Ricky (Sandy) Paulsen of Clinton; many other family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Wendell “Bud” Paulsen.

Roger will always be remembered for his kindness and gentle manner.

Lee Whiting

Funeral services for Lee Whiting, 99, of Ortonville, were held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Tabor United Methodist Church in Big Stone City, SD.

Pastor Beth Conrad officiated.

Burial was at Mound Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Joseph Whiting, William Whiting, Matthew Bohlen, Michael Bohlen, Ronn Jansen, Bob Lundin.

Lee Whiting was born March 20, 1909 in Princeton, WI, at the age of 2 months, he traveled by rail with his parents, Fred and Orrilla (Briggs) Whiting, to this area where they joined Lee’s grandparents on the family farm 15 miles southwest of Ortonville.

Lee is survived by children, Lloyd (Rosa) Whiting of Plymouth, Velda (Wally) Hein of Remus, MI, Patricia (Mike) Bohlen of Milbank, SD, Connie (Bob) Lundin of Bismarck, ND; one sister, Beulah Benshoof of LeSeuer; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy; three children, son Dale, daughter, Bonnie and son, LeRoy; nine brothers and sisters; one great grandson, William Rombs.

Paul Jon Hans

Paul Jon Hans, 42, of Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Ortonville died June 25, 2008 near Dwight, ND.

There were two funeral services for Paul. Both were held Monday, June 30, 2008. One was at 10:00 AM at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge and another at 3:00 PM at Ortonville Living Hope Fellowship, Ortonville.

Pastor David Homrighausen officiated at both services.

Paul is survived by: His parents: John “Bud” and Bonnie Hans, Ortonville; His brother: Peter (Peggy) Hans, Wynne, Arkansas; His niece: Jacy Hans; His paternal grandmother: Signe Hans, Ortonville; His maternal grandmother: Marjorie Morrison, Ortonville; Several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather: John Hans.

Paul Jon Hans was born Aug. 3, 1965 in Ortonville, the son of John A. “Bud” and Bonnie L. (Morrison) Hans. He attended school in Ortonville, graduating from Ortonville High School. In 1984 Paul moved to Wahpeton, ND and cooked at the Copper Kettle Restaurant in Breckenridge.

Paul enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1986 and served for four years, where he worked in a submarine dry dock at Kings Bay, GA. Following his military service he returned to Wahpeton and was employed at Primewood for 13 years. Most recently he began working for Case International in Fargo, ND.

His greatest enjoyment came from riding motorcycle with his friends and his motorcycle club members, the Solid Brotherhood. He also enjoyed playing pool, working, and spending time with his family.

Helen Rausch

Helen Ann [nee Summers] Rausch was born May 16, 1920 in St. Paul, Minnesota to James Jerome Summers and Mary (Ann) Catherine [nee Koecheler] Summers.

The Funeral Mass for Helen Rausch will be Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Madonna Towers Chapel in Rochester with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.

Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in St. Paul at a later date. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Madonna Towers Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, Rochester, MN.

Roger Ronald Zempel

Roger Ronald Zempel, 70, of Rice Lake died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at home. Roger was born March 3, 1938 in Ortonville, to Avold and Daisy Zempel.

He was married in Minneapolis in 1969 to Ruth May Smith who preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1994.

He is survived by: his son, Roger (Nikki) Zempel, Jr. of Rice Lake; two daughters, Daisy Zempel of Minneapolis and Carlyn Woods of Oklahoma City, OK; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Bob Zempel of Ortonville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Jarocki Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Berry officiating. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Jarocki Funeral Home of Rice Lake.
