Arthur W. Misbe

Arthur W. Misbe, age 89, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Little Falls, MN, died April 11, 1997.

A Memorial Service was held April 16 at the Ebenezer Luther Hall Chapel in South Minneapolis. A private interment was held in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.

Survivors include his daughters, Shirley Petersen and husband Bernard of Minneapolis and Nancy Meyer and husband David of River Falls, WI; grandchildren, Julia, Kari, Noelle and Gabrielle Lynwood.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Bergstrom, brother, Edward Misbe and sister, Martha McDonald.

Carl Muehlbauer

Carl Muehlbauer, age 93, died April 4, 1997 at the skilled nursing facility of the White Community Hospital in Aurora, MN.

The Funeral Mass was held April 9 in Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hoyt Lakes, MN with the Rev. Joseph Sirba as the celebrant.

Carl was born February 29, 1904 in Little Falls, MN to Frank and Theresa (Blechinger) Muehlbauer. After attending school in Little Falls, he graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He married Margaret Wotzka November 26, 1936 in Flensburg, MN.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; daughter, Mary Visina of Minot, N.D.; grandsons, Robert Visina of Minneapolis, Tom Visina of San Diego, CA and James Visina of New York; a great-granddaughter, Katie Visina of San Diego and one sister, Mary Delougherty of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Ed, Louis, Herb and Adolph; and sisters, Bertha, Theresa, Mary and Agnes.

Louis Kummet

Louis Kummet, age 81, a resident of Lastrup, MN, died at his home April 14, 1997.

Funeral services were held April 18 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup, with Father Roger Thoennes, Father Al Stangl, and Father Ken Brenny con-celebrating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Louis was born September 18, 1915 to George and Amelia (Lorenz) Kummet. He was united in marriage to Elaine Stangl on August 25, 1942 at St. Joseph’s Church in Pierz, MN. They farmed southeast of Lastrup until Louis retired in 1980. They built a home near the farm and he continued to help the the farm until his health failed. Louis was a member of the AMPI Creamery Board and of the Knights of Columbus Council 3982. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife Elaine; sons, Jim and wife Jan Kummet, Tony and wife Marlys, Bob and wife Julie, Tom and wife Julie all of Pierz; daughters, Louise and Dennis Marshik of Minneapolis, Lois and Ken Przbilla of Coon Rapids, MN, Elaine and Mike Deeg of Apple Valley, MN, Marian and Mike Bennett of Hillman, MN, Fran and Rogert Waytashek of Cambridge, MN, Judy and Jerry Pohlkamp of Sartell, MN, Rose and Tom Wright of Schertz, TX, JoAnn and Dave McDonald of Stacy, MN; a brother, Joe Kummet of Pierz; two sisters, Sr. Marie Kummet OSF of Milwaukee, WI, and Marquerite Kummet of St. Paul; 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gertrude Kummet and Cecelia Wiemiller; two grandchildren, Eric and Kimberly Wright.

Honorary casketbearers were Rollie and Leander Loidolt, Ralph Britz, Cletus Meyer, Walter Stumpf and Leroy Gulden.

Casketbearers were Dave and Tim Kummet, Troy and Todd Przybilla, Ryan Marshik and Chad Bennett.

Beverly Ann Kurowski

Beverly Ann Kurowski, age 50, a resident of Swanville, MN, died April 13, 1997 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 16 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Swanville with the Rev. Thomas Meyer officiating. Burial was in the St. John’s Cemetery in Swanville.

Beverly A. Kurowski was born June 20, 1946 in St. Paul, MN to the late Charles and Eva (Olson) Beto. She was united in marriage to Arvin Kurowski on October 17, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN. The couple farmed in Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, MN for many years. Beverly worked for 10 years at Crestliner Boats in Little Falls, six years at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, four years at the Corner Cafe in Swanville and six years at Jennie-O-Foods in Melrose. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Swanville.

Survivors include her husband, Arvin; sons, Raymond Kurowski and wife Jill of Long Prairie, MN, Rick Kurowski and wife Teresa and Randy Kurowski, all of Little Falls; brothers, Donald Beto and wife Nancy of Swanville, MN, LeeRoy Beto and wife May of Fort Ripley, MN; sisters, Irene Bermel and husband Matt of Idaho, Jeanette Schroeder of Clear Lake, MN, Sharon Kramer and husband Sonny of Cushing, MN, Kathleen Schlumpberger and husband Allen of McGregor, MN; grandchildren, Casey and Brandon Kurowski of Long Prairie and Nathan and Briana Kurowski of Little Falls; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Beto; sister, Betty Taylor; an infant sister, Nina and one granddaughter, Cassandra Kurowski.

Casketbearers were Raymond, Rick and Randy Kurowski and Kurt Nobbs, Keith Braun and Randy Etzler.

Leslie E. ‘Les’ Brown

Leslie E. ‘Les’ Brown, 86, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 12, 1997 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. Funeral services were held April 15 at the First Baptist Church in Little Falls with Pastor Steve Priola officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery.

Leslie E. Brown was born January 24, 1911 in Evanston, IL to the late Amos E. and Ruth H. (Schelin) Brown. He grew up and attended school in Broken Arrow, OK. After graduating from high school, Les came to reside in Little Falls in 1929, where he worked as a bookkeeper for the Pancratz Co. Leslie E. Brown was united in marriage in Bernice A. Randall on June 29, 1935 at the First Baptist Church in Little Falls. He became a partner in the business in 1946 with Mr. Pancratz and Mr. Peterson. In 1954, Les became president of the business and changed the name to Metalcraft Roofing & Heating Inc. He retired on December 31, 1981. Les was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Falls and served as a deacon, treasurer, Sunday School teacher and on the building committee. He also was a member of the Rotary Club since 1944 and served as the club president and pianist for 49 years.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice A. Brown; daughters, Terry Baurle and husband Dean of Rancho Mirage, CA, Lynne Brown of Minneapolis, MN, and Kay Johnson and husband Dean of Minneapolis; brother, Stanley S. Brown and wife Maxine of Collinsville, IL; five grandchildren, Tom and Eric Baurle, Carie Werness, Shawn Engstrom and Chad Johnson; four great-grandchildren: T.J. Baurle, Willie Baurle, Caleb and Joshua Werness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Forrest Brown; and sister, Maxine Dobroski.

Honorary pallbearers were the Rotarians and Harry Norrs, Joe Hoehn, Bob Verley, Oliver LeBlanc, Russ Jongewaard and Harold Carlson.

Pallbearers were Tom Baurle, Eric Baurle, Craig Werness, Shawn Engstrom and Chad Johnson.

Eleanor Witucki (Mrs. John Witucki, Sr.)

Eleanor Witucki (Mrs. John Witucki, Sr.), age 79, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 15, 1997 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Eleanor was born October 28, 1917 in Swan River Township, MN to the late Edward and Cecelia (Kokott) Kupka. She attended school in District 9, Swan River Township. At the age of fifteen years, she went out working in Little Falls and then worked in Minneapolis for a short time. Eleanor was united in marriage to John Witucki on February 15, 1938 in St. Stanislaus Church in Bowlus, MN. They farmed near Sobieski until 1950 when they moved to Pike Creek Township where they farmed until their retirement. She also worked at the LaFalls Motel for a period of time.

Survivors include their children, Delores Beneke and husband Harold of Sauk Rapids, MN, Roman and wife Judy, Ruth Witucki, Loretta Ross, Joseph and wife Debbie, Carol Jorgensen and husband Daniel, Roger and wife Debbie, John Jr. and wife Julie, all of Little Falls; a sister, Irene Dockendorf of Little Falls; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Donald; grandson, David Beneke; one brother and one sister.

Casketbearers were Ken Witucki, Donald Beneke, Kyle Langdon, Jason Ross, Jeremiah Witucki, Martin Witucki, David Finch and Wade Witucki.

Virginia A. Hayes

Virginia A. Hayes, 58, a resident of rural Pierz, MN, died April 15, 1997 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 18 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN with the Rev. Roger Thoennes and Rev. Kenneth Brenny, officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN.

Virginia A. Hayes was born November 27, 1938 in Ripley Township, Morrison County, MN to Percy James and the late Adeline Stein. As a young girl she lived in the Freedhem area and attended school in Freedhem and Green Prairie Township. In 1945 she moved with her parents to Nashwalk, MN and attended grade school there. In 1950 her family moved to Chicago, IL and she attended high school at St. Michael’s Church School. The family later returned to Little Falls where she attended and graduated from high school with the class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Freeman J. Hayes on September 21, 1957 in Desdon, TN. Following their marriage the couple lived in Chicago. They later moved to the Little Falls area.

Survivors include her husband Freeman; father, Percy James of Freedhem; sons and daughters, Tim Hayes and fiancé DoriAnn Sauer, both of Pierz, Chip Hayes and wife Donna of Pierz, Rosanne Keehr and husband Jerry of Little Falls, Sheryl Hayes and fiancé Craig Rahn, both of Little Falls, Colleen Hayes of Pierz and Janine Hayes of Pierz; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her mother, Adeline James on January 19, 1997, and an infant son, Freeman.

Honorary pallbearers were Mariettas Maleski, June Hebler, Kathi Hebler, Beatrice Heinz, Louise Maleski, Madge Krych, Jeanette Kara, Renee Litke and Ceil Przybilla

Casketbearers were Shawn and Rick Bue, Sarah St. Onge, Gina, Laura and Bradley Keehr.
