JoAnn Wotzka

JoAnn Wotzka, age 73, a resident of Flensburg, MN died May 9, 1997 at her daughter’s home in St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services were May 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, with Father Tony Kroll officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

JoAnn was born December 19, 1923 in Flensburg, to Joseph and Agnes (Jazdzewski) Prozinski. She was united in marriage to Elias ‘Punk’ Wotzka on June 5, 1946 in Randall, MN. Following their marriage, they resided in Flensburg, where they raised their family of six children. JoAnn was an excellent wife, mother, and special friend and neighbor to many throughout her life. She was well known for her cooking skills and variety of culinary talents. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, but most of all her family. JoAnn was an active member of the Rosary Sodality at Sacred Heart Parish.

Survivors include her children, Dennis and wife Shelley of Anoka, MN, Jeffrey and wife Roslyn of Ramona, CA, Colleen Wotzka and husband Stacey Heard of Chula Vista, CA, Jessica Gould and husband Rodd of St. Cloud, Joseph Wotzka of Little Falls, Leslie Colvis of San Diego, CA; sisters, Eleanor Blechinger of Little Falls, Carol Wilson of Clovis, CA, Joyce Nelson and husband Dennis of Duluth, MN, Kathleen Mahling and husband John of Little Falls, Anita Scully and husband James of Forest Lake, MN; brothers, Robert Prozinski and wife Geraldine of Little Falls, Dennis Prozinski and wife Irene of Little Falls, Joseph Prozinski of Cushing, MN, Claude Prozinski and wife Mary of Madison City, VA; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elias; four brothers, Leonard, William, Clayton and Valentine; and one sister, Constance.

Honorary pallbearers were Michelle Prozinski, Megan Blechinger, Jennifer Thompson, Erica Wotzka, Sarah Wotzka, Matthew Gould and Kirsten Gould.

SaLisa Fluharty

SaLisa Susan Fluharty, infant daughter of Patricia Pryor and Christopher Fluharty of Little Falls, MN, died May 10, 1997, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were held May 15 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Rev. Suzanne Cekalla officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Randall, MN.

SaLisa was born April 9, 1997, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Due to an illness from birth she remained in the St. Cloud Hospital until her death at the age of one month and four days.

Survivors include her parents; sister, Sabrina Willhite of Little Falls; grandparents, Thomas II and Susan Pryor of Little Falls and Kirby and Joyce Fluharty of Royalton, MN; great-grandparents, Viola Pryor-Bellemy of Charle-ston, SC, Beatrice Block of Royalton, Alvin and Ceil Popp of Rice MN, and George and Pat Fluharty of Midland, TX, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers were Thomas Pryor III, Jespar Pryor, Nicole Fluharty and Jeremy Sherman.

James Guertin

James ‘Jay’ P. Guertin, age 38, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 23, 1997, in Bellevue Township.

Memorial services were held May 15 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

James was born September 29, 1958, in Little Falls, the son of the late Hector and Lorraine (Virnig) Guertin. Jay grew up in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls Community High School in 1977. He attended St. Cloud Technical School for two years, graduating in June, 1981, with a degree in Electronics Technology. Jay was united in marriage to Jean M. Valesano on November 28, 1980, in Little Falls. He worked at Gemini Electronics in Little Falls as a technician since 1982. His family and friends will remember Jay as a giving father, husband, brother and friend. He loved agate picking, music, bike riding, electronics, computers and inventing gadgets.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons, Matthew and Ben at home; daughter, Leah at home; sister, Karen Snell and husband Dick of Plante City, FL; brother, Charles Guertin and wife Debbie of St. Cloud, MN, and four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Francis Zwilling

Francis (Sunny) Zwilling, age 66, a resident of Sauk Rapids, MN, died June 1, 1997, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were June 5 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake with Rev. Francis Britz officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Sunny was born October 5, 1930, in Pearl Lake to John and Anna (Kunkel) Zwilling. He married Betty Theisen in Holy Cross Catholic Church at Pearl Lake on April 24, 1958. They lived and farmed in Pearl Lake prior to moving to Mayhew Lake where he farmed, had a poultry farm business and owned and operated Sunny’s Logging. He was also co-owner of T & Z Wood Products in Cold Spring, MN. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and was a CCD instructor. He was a member of the Bishop Marty Council Knights of Columbus at Foley, MN. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; and is father and father-in-law to Mary Beth Zwilling of Nashville, TN, Lori Ann Zwilling of Royalton, Mark and Mary Jo Zwilling and Brian and Sandy Zwilling of Foley, Chuck and Kellee Zwilling, Ken Zwilling, Jason Zwilling, and Sarah Zwilling all of Sauk Rapids, Nita Zwilling and Janet Zwilling of Pine River, MN, Dan and Erin Zwilling and Kari Zwilling and her fiancé Dave Donaldson of St. Cloud, MN; he is also survived by sisters and brothers, Lucille Clem of Frazee, MN, Mary Ann Theis of Long Lake, MN, Sister Agatha Zwilling of St. Joseph, MN, Jim Zwilling of Big Lake, MN, Rosie Salzer of Cold Spring, Peter Zwilling and Jack Zwilling of Kimball, MN, Jerry Zwilling of St. Cloud, Yvonne Bentler of Clearwater, MN; and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Zwilling and grandson, Anthony Zwilling.

Casketbearers were sons, Mark Chuck, Brian, Ken, Dan and Jason Zwilling.

Mauritz Hallberg

Mauritz (Morris) Reinhold Hallberg, age 80, a resident of Belle Prairie Township, Morrison County, MN, died June 2, 1997 at his home.

Funeral services were held June 5 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN, with Reverend Kent Garlinghouse officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.

Morris R. Hallberg was born March 23, 1917, in Bell Prairie Township, Morrison County, to the late John Oscar and Emily (Johnson) Hallberg. He grew up in Belle Prairie Township and attended school at District 1185 in Belle Prairie Township. After completing his schooling he farmed with his father until his father’s death in 1957. Morris purchased the family farm in Belle Prairie Township, 6 miles northeast of Little Falls and farmed until retiring.

Morris R. Hallberg was united in marriage to Anne Werkman on March 31, 1952, at First Congregational Church in Little Falls. He was a life member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, Little Falls Moose Lodge and the Farmers Union. He enjoyed farming, sports, his family and in his later years he enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Anne of Little Falls; sons, John Hallberg of Little Falls, Carl Hallberg and wife Elaine of Little Falls and Daniel Hallberg and wife Raeann of Rogers, MN; daughters, Lynda Lochner and husband Jerry of Little Falls, Faye Sandy and husband George of Little Falls and Janelle Hallberg of Montgomery, MN and 13 grandchildren.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lennart, Arthur and Robert Hallberg.

Pallbearers were John Hallberg, Carl Hallberg, Daniel Hallberg, George Sandy III, Gerald Lochner and Benjamin Lochner.

Col. Jack Tooley

Col. Jack W. Tooley, age 77, died May 10, 1997, in San Antonio, TX.

A memorial will be held at El Toro Air Base in California.

Survivors include his wife, Yolanda, two sons and a daughter in California; his sister, Nell Hayward of Virginia; five grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.

Edgar Huebner

Edgar S. “Ed” Huebner, age 71, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died June 2, 1997, at Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Ed was born March 29, 1926, in Glyndon, MN, the son of the late Charles and Marie (St. John) Huebner. The family came to reside in Little Falls in the early 1930s. Ed attended Little Falls schools. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Fahnhorst on March 29, 1948, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN. Ed worked for R.D. Musser and later for Laura Jane Musser from 1953 until 1967. He worked for the city of Little Falls as a parking meter officer from 1967 until retiring in 1981. He enjoyed collecting and fixing antique clocks and most of all, his family. Ed served on the Little Falls City Council in the 1960s and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Little Falls Police Reserve.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; sons, Edgar Huebner, Jr. of Waite Park, MN, Harry Huebner and wife Tina of Minneapolis, Michael Huebner and wife Judy of Little Falls, John Huebner and wife Mary of West Fargo, ND, and Bob Huebner and wife Jackie Hunstiger of St. Cloud, MN; daughters, Carol Ann Ulrich and husband Wayne of Minneapolis, Jane Christopherson and husband Con of Waseca, MN, Sally Huebner and fiancé Kirby Dickovich of Crystal, MN, and Kathy Huebner of Little Falls; brother, Charles Huebner and wife Trudy of Little Falls; sisters, Cecelia Markuson and husband Cliff of Hillman, MN, Margaret Golden and husband Bill of Sartell, MN, Gerry Peterson and husband Ron of Hillman and Mary Susag and husband Russ of Richfield, MN; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Mark Danzl.

Pallbearers were Michael, Bob and John Huebner, Carol Ulrich, Sally Huebner and Jane Christopherson.

Harry Marlin

Harry Marlin, age 88, a resident of Fishtrap Lake and Sun City West, AZ, died in Arizona on October 28, 1996.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at the Motley First United Methodist Church in Motley at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the memorial fund of the Methodist Church.

Harry was born in Staples, MN, to the late John D. and Bessum Marlin. He graduated from high school there and attended Hamline University and Minneapolis Business College. He married Alyce Lee of Scandia Valley in 1937. He owned and operated Ben Franklin stores in Osseo, MN, and Long Prairie, MN, for 37 years.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Becky Marlin of Fishtrap Lake, Suzanne Marlin of Shoreview, MN, Diane Marlin Dirkx and husband Gerard of Rancho Mirage, CA, and four grandchildren, Megan, Marlin, Laura and Eric. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Mads Findsen of Staples and brother, Gene Marlin of Edina, MN, and Bay Lake.
