Cecelia Miers

Cecelia Miers, age 76, a resident of Hillman, MN, died June 12, 1997, at Mille Lacs Hospital in Onamia, MN.

Funeral services were held June 16 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Bull Dog Lake with Father Vincent Ott officiating. Burial was in the Pine Tree Cemetery.

Cecelia was born February 12, 1921, in Pierz, MN, the eldest child of Theodore and Mathilda Gross. She married Alvin Miers on September 12, 1939. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage and raised 16 children. Cecelia had many home, family and community interests. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cake decorating, embroidery work, gardening, senior dining, cards and bingo. Her children, grandchildren and helping others was the spirit and joy of her life. She leaves behind an example of Christian generosity and patience.

Survivors include her sons, Henry and wife Jean of Circle Pines, MN, Jerome and wife Pat of Schaumburg, IL, William and wife Ann of Onamia, Jim and wife Bonnie of Stanchfield, MN, Paul and wife Margaret of Cedar, MN, Duane and wife Marie of Crystal, MN, and Gregory of Fridley, MN; daughters, Jeanette San Nicholas and husband Nick of N. Branch, MN, Bernice Benjamin and husband Jim of Brainerd, MN, Anna DeChaine and husband Keith of Deerwood, MN, Mary Stout and husband Gary of Ham Lake, MN, Alice Martin and husband Dale of Raymond, MN, Helen Schlegel and husband Robert of Pierz, Susan Oie and husband Tim of Buffalo, MN, Theresa Eide of Shakopee, MN, and Lucy Miers of Alexandria, MN; sisters, Agnes Schommer and husband Peter of Hillman, MN, Hilda Lacher of Clarks Grove, MN, Marie Block and husband Theodore of Hillman, Martha Holley and husband Al of Osteen, FL, Eva Temburell and husband Joe of St. Paul, MN, Irene Schlegel and husband Walter of Brainerd and Dolores Rauch and husband Wm of Cottage Grove, MN; brothers, Ben and wife Virginia Gross of Hillman and George and wife Darlene Gross of Sauk Centre, MN; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jensen and husband Roy of Clarks Grove, MN, and Esther Van Ravenhorst of Albert Lea; 48 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three infant siblings, August, Steven and Regina; two brothers-in-law, Raymond and Everett and three sisters-in-law, Bertha Bankston, Lila Brown and Augusta Lewis.

Casketbearers were Eric DeChaine, Nick Schlegel, Toby Miers, Curtis Miers, Jaime San Nicholas and John Acosta.

Thomas Gwiasdowski

Thomas Gwiasdowski, age 93, a resident of St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz, MN, died June 14, 1997, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN.

Funeral services were held June 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was in St. Rita’s Cemetery in Hillman, MN. Military honors were provided by Pierz American Legion.

Tom was born in Opole, MN, on November 27, 1903, to Julia (Bieniek) and Paul Gwiasdowski. He married Theresa (Tracy) Hedwig Kachmarzinski on June 11, 1945. Tom and Tracy lived and farmed in Hillman Township until 1966, at which time they moved to Swatara, MN. They returned to live in Pierz in 1977. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and nature photography. In his earlier years, he enjoyed baseball and boxing. Tom was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a brother, Frank of St. Mary’s Villa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tracy on August 31, 1982; a sister, Hattie Siegel; six brothers, John, Phillip, Peter, Joseph, Steve and Stanley.

Casketbearers were Miles Kach-marzinski, Jerry Kachmarzinski, Jerome (Rusty) Seelen, William Seelen, James Kachmarzinski and Donald Kachmarzinski.

James L. Krystosek

James L. Krystosek, age 55, of Waite Park, MN formerly of Avon, MN, died June 12, 1997 at his home in Waite Park.

Funeral services were held June 14 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. The Rev. Ronald Weyrens officiated. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Royalton, MN.

James was born October 19, 1941 in Royalton to Alois and Lorretta(Buersken) Krysotek. He married Judith A. Doble on February 7, 1966 in Holy Trinity Church in Royalton. The couple lived in Avon for 21 years, moving to Waite Park in 1995. James worked as a fork lift operator for Frigidaire for 26 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. He was also an active member of the PTA in Avon.

Survivors include his wife of Waite Park, MN; son, daughters and spouses, Randy of Avon; Brenda and Brian Schneider of Albany, MN; Heidi of Waite Park; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Arlene and Harry Midas, Dianna and Alfred Midas both of Sauk Rapids, MN, Joan and Ron Achman of Avon; Marlene and Ralph Roske of St. Joseph, MN and granddaughter, Kaly Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Cody and sister, Della Harris. Pallbearers were David, Larry and Ronnie Midas, Ron Achman and Roger and Dean Harris.

Edward Jacobs

Edward M. Jacobs, age 88, a resident of Burtrum, MN, died June 11, 1997, at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar, MN.

Funeral services were June 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala, MN with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Upsala.

Edward M. Jacobs was born November 1, 1908, in Spring Field, MN, to John and Susanna (Schoenborn) Jacobs. He married Veronica B. Stueve on January 22, 1929, in St. Anthony, MN. He farmed all his life. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala.

Survivors include sons and daughters, Delores Roerick of Grey Eagle, MN, Vernon Jacobs, Melrose, MN, Darlene Ahrens, Grey Eagle, Marion Kurtz, Albany, MN, Gerald Jacobs, Opole, MN, Carol Ann Ritter, Long Prairie, MN, Virgil Jacobs, Burtrum, MN; brother and sister, Walter Jacobs of Holdingford, MN, Rosina Ahles, El Cajon, CA; 55 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Veronica on October 7, 1985; one daughter, Lillian Veldkamp on July 15, 1991; one infant son, Laverne Jacobs; three brothers, Joe, Jack and Henry; three sisters, Mary Orth, Ann Diekman and Susan De Voglere. Pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Robert C. Cameron

Robert Clark Cameron, age 80, a resident of Cushing, MN, died June 14, 1997 at Greater Staples Care Center in Staples, MN.

Funeral services were held June 17 at Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln, MN, with the Reverends Terry Stumbo and Bob Osell officiating. Interment was in Scandia Valley Cemetery.

Robert Clark Cameron was born on October 28, 1916, in Salem, SD, to the late Frank and Gertrude (Gray) Cameron. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1935 and was a founding member of Lincoln Evangelical Free Church. He married Lucille A. Borden on December 25, 1939, in Little Falls. He was a farmer/gardener in Morrison County until 1955 at which time he moved his family to Minneapolis, MN. He was employed at Hoerner Waldorf Corp./Champion International in St. Paul until his retirement in 1981. He returned to Cushing to continue his farming/gardening. In September of 1996 he entered the Greater Staples Care Center where he remained until his death.

Survivors include his wife Lucille of Cushing; daughters, Marilyn Lundberg and husband, Dennis Lundberg of Cushing; Eleanor Bell Quarry and husband, Denis Bell Quarry of Cushing; and Ardith Krogh and husband, Gerald Krogh of Faribault, MN; son, Darrell Cameron and wife, Marian Cameron of Coon Rapids, MN; sisters, Ruth Fuchs of Hermantown, MN; Miriam Carlson of Pillager, MN; and, Joyce Cameron of Little Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers were Art Schroeder, Don Lorentzen and Sigfred Nelson. Pallbearers were Bruce Quarry, III, Frank Topp, Bill Rassler, Tom Bestland, Don Wille and Willard Olsen.

Emily (Ginter) Jerde

Emily Jerde, age 75, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Little Falls, MN, and North Prairie, MN, died May 30, 1997, in Minneapolis.

Officiating at the funeral service was Father James DeBruycker of Minneapolis. A private interment will be held at the North Prairie Cemetery in the near future.

Emily was born June 14, 1921, in Little Falls to the late Walter and Rose (Pietrowski) Ginter.

Survivors include brothers, Louie and wife Dorothy of Little Falls, Edward and wife Alice of Vista, CA, James of Minneapolis and Ralph and wife Clair of Minneapolis; sisters, Beverly Nouis and husband Leroy of Little Falls and Harding, MN, Judy DeZurik and husband Frank of Kansas City, KS, Rosemarie Aleshire Ginter of Hermantown, MN, and Claudette Prator and husband Earl of Scotsdale, AZ; sisters-in-law, Gerry and LaVerne of Minneapolis and Jeannine Daniels of Little Falls; brother-in-law, Hank Brokob of New York; many nieces and nephews and their families and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Allain; second husband, MC Jerde; brothers, George, Carl and Duane; sister, Jenette Brokob and sister-in-law, June Ginter.

Martin Langemo

Martin Andreas Langemo, age 91, a resident of Deer Creek, MN, died June 17, 1997, at his home in Deer Creek.

Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Deer Creek on June 21 with the Rev. Gregory Tomhave officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Deer Creek.

Martin was born August 25, 1905, in Ellington Twp., Dodge County, MN, to Martin P. and Anna (Thomson) Langemo. He was united in marriage to Mildred Sarah Mosher at Claremont, MN, on June 19, 1929, and to Jessie Lucinda Quarnstrom of Silver Creek, MN, on April 21, 1990. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Deer Creek Lions Club, formerly served on the board of the Minnesota Northern District of Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Board of Regents of Concordia College-St. Paul, MN, and Otter Tail-Wadena Community Action Council. He was a retired banker and enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie Langemo; son, Rev. Martin S. and wife Carol of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Ilah Mae Johnson and husband William of Walker, MN, Clorice Mildred Truax and husband William of Fallor, NV, and Marlys Faye Ohman and husband Ronald of Powell, WY; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred S. Langemo in November, 1985; parents; brothers, Peter Andreas, Peter and Albert and sisters, Marie Rodde, Anne Langemo and Martha Langemo. Pallbearers were Barry and Craig Johnson, Danny and Rob Truax, Leif and Erik Ohman and Marty, Jim, David and Tom Langemo.

Anton Mogensen

Anton E. “Tony” Mogensen, age 76, a resident of Maple Grove Township, MN, died June 20, 1997, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial was held June 24 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Roland Antus officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.

Tony was born in Brainerd, MN, on November 14, 1920, to Fred and Betsy (Neishem) Mogensen. He was a lifetime vegetable farmer in Brainerd. He married Deloris Fleischhacker on May 13, 1948, in Brainerd.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris; a daughter, June Ruikka of Ironton, MN; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward of Brainerd and Elmer of Utah; two sisters, Marie Satchell of Pine River, MN, and Clara Neeser of Brainerd and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.
