Clara Schneider

Clara Schneider, age 90, a resident of Swanville, MN died October 14, 1997, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN.

Funeral services were held October 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN with Father Raymond Donnay and Father Charles Padatruruthy concelebrating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Clara was born August 4, 1907 in Swanville Township to the late Robert and Julia (Petrus) Schneider. Clara attended District #11 school and Belle Prairie Academy. She worked as a domestic housekeeper and was employed at Munsingwear for a number of years. She resided on the family farm until moving to St. Otto’s Care Center four years ago. Her many hobbies consisted of gardening, reading, fishing, embroidering, and she loved flowers. Clara was a member of Sacred Heart Church, was a member of the parish choir and a member of the Rosary Sodality.

Survivors include a brother, Lawrence (Larry) Schneider and wife Angeline of Sauk Centre, MN; sisters, Victoria (Vicki) Krystosek of St. Joseph, MN and Margaret Davieau and husband Felix of Fairfield, CA; sister-in-law, Esther Schneider of Little Falls; brother-in-law, Martin Copa Sr. of Little Falls; and 28 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Veronica Copa; a brother, Martin Schneider; a brother-in-law, William Krysto-sek Sr.; a niece Martina Schneider; and a nephew, Hubert Copa.

Casketbearers were Donald and George Copa, Richard, Phillip, Mike, and Mark Schneider, Jim and Bill Krystosek, Jr.

Frank R. Sanoski

Frank R. Sanoski, age 89, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 15, 1997, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held October 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN.

Frank R. Sanoski was born April 4, 1908, in Lyon County, MN, the son of the late Andrew and Mary ‘Czechowicz’ Sanoski. The family resided in Lyon County until moving in 1916 to Culdrum Township, Morrison County, MN. Frank attended country school and then began to farm. He was united in marriage to Mary T. Koval on June 25, 1935, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. The couple farmed in Culdrum Township until 1969, when they moved to Little Falls. Frank worked as a custodian at the Little Falls Senior High school from 1969 until retiring in 1973. The couple moved to Belle Prairie Township in 1970 and Frank became a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in March, 1997. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, picking berries, cross country skiing, playing cards and dancing. Frank was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie and served as a Culdrum Township Supervisor for one term.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Ed Sanoski and wife Judy of Little Falls; George Sanoski and wife Dorothy of Little Falls; Leonard Sanoski and wife Teresa of Elk River, MN; Andrew Sanoski and wife Sandy of Brainerd, MN; daughters, Elaine Schumer and husband Joseph of Holdingford, MN; Carol Helseth of Maple Grove, MN; brother, Ted Sanoski and wife Loretta of Little Falls; sisters, Sr. Bernarda Sanoski of Brekendridge, MN; and Anna Miller of Little Falls; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Bernard Sanoski; brothers Stanley, John and Walter Sanoski; sisters, Rose Fedor; Tillie Witt and Nellie Pease.

Pallbearers were the grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Heart Fund.

Donald Solorz
Donald Solorz, age 56, a resident of Wyoming, MN, and formerly of Bowlus, MN, died suddenly.

A memorial mass was held August 17, 1998, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Elk River, MN.

Survivors include two brothers, Tom and wife Shirley of South St. Paul, MN, and Lloyd and wife Doreen of St. Cloud, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife Etta; parents, Tom and Mary Solorz and brothers, Jerry and Dick and one sister, Monica.

Robert Mueller
Robert L. “Murph” Mueller, age 74, a resident of Randall, MN, died Sunday, August 16, 1998, at his home.

Funeral services were held August 19 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Randall with Rev. James Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Randall City Cemetery with military rites conducted by Randall VFW Post 9073.

Robert was born on January 23, 1924, in Randall to the late George and Elsie (Anderson) Mueller. He attended Little Falls High School and graduated from barber school in St. Paul, MN in 1951. He served in the European Theater during World War II. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Olson on September 1, 1950, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Randall. Murph was employed at Camp Ripley as a National Guard technician from 1953 to 1980. He was a member of the National Guard from 1953 to 1984 and retired as a Sergeant Major. He was a life member of Randall VFW Post 9073 and Little Falls American Legion Post 46, was a member of the Randall Fire Department and was a faithful member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Randall. Murph enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Mueller of Randall; son, Robert Mueller and wife Linda Joyce of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Darcy Petersen and husband Alan of Randall and Yvonne Anthony and husband David of Newton, IA; sisters, Jan Haus of Hastings, MN, Beverly Lindborg of Brainerd, MN, and Nancy Fregin of Randall and grandchildren, Christina Anthony, Nicole Anthony, Jeffrey Petersen, Bethany Mueller, David Petersen, Andrew Petersen, Jacob Petersen and Anna Petersen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Mueller; sister, Lucille Falconio; brothers, Donald, Richard and infant brother, Charles Mueller.

Honorary pallbearers were all of Murph's friends who fished, hunted and laughed with him.

Casketbearers were his grandchildren, Christina Anthony, Nicole Anthony, Jeffrey Petersen, Bethany Mueller, David Petersen, Andrew Petersen, Jacob Petersen and Anna Petersen.

Florence Ploof
Florence Ploof, age 103, of Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND, died August 16, 1998, in the nursing home.
The funeral services was held in the Mavis Whiting Chapel at Bethany, Fargo, on August 18. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls on August 19.

Florence DeRosier was born October 1, 1894, at Gravelville, MN. She grew up and attended school there until the seventh grade when she moved with her family to Little Falls, MN. Florence married Harvey Ploof on October 1, 1913, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. The couple lived in Little Falls, then moved to Tower City, ND. They moved to Fargo in 1921 and have lived there since. Florence worked at the Herbst Department Store in Fargo for 40 years before retiring.

Survivors include a sister, Loramae Couture, Hollister, M): one grandson, Elden, Hollister; two great-granddaughters and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey and a son, Elden.

Dr. George M.A. Fortier III

Dr. George M.A. Fortier III, general surgeon, age 62, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died June 1, 1998, in an airplane accident near Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger, Father Edward Ramacher, and Father Harold J. Kost con-celebrating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery.

George was born on March 16, 1936, in Little Falls, to George M.A. II and Louise C. (Ziebol) Fortier. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1954, after which he attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a B.A. in zoology and biochemistry in 1959. He attended Marquette Medical School from 1959 to 1963, graduating as a M.D. with honors and a member of the AOA, Medical Honors Society. Dr. Fortier III completed his internship at San Diego Mercy Hospital in 1964 and his residency in general surgery at Milwaukee County General Hospital in 1968. Dr. Fortier served as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve from 1964 to 1970. Dr. G.M.A. Fortier III returned to Little Falls in 1968 to continue a long family tradition of providing medical service to the people of Morrison County. Under his leadership the Little Falls Clinic was expanded by recruiting medical specialists to further enhance the delivery and quality of care available in the region. He developed an outreach program in order to provide surgical speciality services to smaller communities in central Minnesota. Dr. Fortier was certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. G.M.A. Fortier III served as a the chairman of the Morrison County Airport Commission for over 20 years. During his tenure, and due to his persistence, the numerous recent improvements to the airport were made possible. His passion for aviation was evident in the fact he was an FAA Medical Examiner, a certified airframe and power plant mechanic with an inspection authorization, and held a commercial multi-engine instrument pilot rating. He recently successfully contracted to run the Morrison County Airport as a fixed base operator, FBO.

Survivors include his wife Patricia of Little Falls; sons, George M.A. IV and wife Sharon of Little Falls, Brett, and Zachary both at home; daughters, Kathleen Walz and husband Tom of St. Augusta, Colleen Klein and husband Jerry of St. Joseph, Patricia Billingsley and husband Dale of Yuma, AZ, Bethany and Mara Fortier, both of Minneapolis; sisters, Annette Fellbaum and husband Keith of Little Falls, Jacquiline Doty and husband Joe of Little Falls; and Louise Schweninger and husband Ron of Kenosha, WI; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Daniel and Jessica Walz, Jennifer, Russell and Brad Klein, Justin and Amanda Billingsley, George Fortier V, Nicole, Elise, and Chase Fortier.

He was preceded in death by his parents; George M.A. Fortier II in 1988, Louise Fortier in 1989; son, Charles L. Fortier in 1973.

Honorary casketbearers were grandsons, George M.A. Fortier V, Chase C. Fortier, Russell and Bradley Klein, Michael and Daniel Walz, and Justin Billingsley.

Casketbearers were Rich Brenny, Frank Schrupp, Keith Fellbaum, Curt Logan, Tim Klemmetsen, and Philip Theisen.

Peggy Sue Sahr

Peggy Sue Sahr, age 43, a resident of Pierz, MN, died May 31, 1998, at her home in Granite Township, Morrison County, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Hillman, MN.

Peggy S. Sahr was born December 10, 1954, in St. Cloud, Stearns County, MN, to the late Merle and Melissa (Blaisdell) Moren. She grew up in Morrill Township, MN, and attended school in Foley, MN. Following her schooling she did babysitting and worked at the Foley Nursing Home. Peggy was united in marriage to Dale R. Sahr on September 15, 1973, in Morrill, MN. Following their marraige, the couple lived in Hillman and later moved to Pierz, Granite Township, Morrison County, MN, where she resided until her death. Peggy most recently was employed at Pete & Joy’s Bakery in Pierz. She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Hillman. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, camping, gardening and flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Dale; daughters, Kerry Kasper and husband, Joe of Pierz, Kathi Sahr of Long Prairie, MN; brothers, Jess (Sam) Moren and wife Raneyl of Pierz, George Moren and Madeline of Hillman; sisters, Mignonette Weisz and husband, John of Pierz, Linda Seppelt and husband, Neal of Pierz, Carol Kapser and husband, Bobby of Deerwood, MN; and grandchildren, Travis Kasper and Hannah Heuer.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Moren.

Casketbearers were Isaac Kasper, Joshua Seppelt Clint Weisz, Daryl Bujarski, Jacob Moren and Wayne Hoheisel.
