Albert R. Kuklock
Albert R. Kuklock, age 89, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died August 5, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial was August 10, 1998, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, with Father Raymond Donnay officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Albert was born March 10, 1909, to Frank and Mary (Kuka) Kuklock. He grew up on the family farm in Swan River Township and attended School District 25. He was united in marriage to Agnes Retka on May 29, 1940, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. Following their marriage, they moved to Detroit, MI, where Albert worked for Chrysler Corporation. In the early 1940s they returned to the home farm where he farmed until 1973. He also worked at Camp Ripley. He became a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in 1995. He enjoyed card playing, wood working, and watching the Twins.

Survivors include his wife Agnes; sons, Richard Kuklock and wife Marion of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Benedict Kuklock and wife Donna of Little Falls; sister Rose Sadecki of Minneapolis, MN; and grandchildren Ann Marie, Jeffrey, and Julie Kuklock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jacob, Peter, John, and Frank; sisters, Barbara Holupchinski, Ann Bodnar and Victoria Roth.

Casketbearers were Jeffrey, Carla, and Julie Kuklock, Charlie Gaulke, George Woidyla, and Rick Holtz.

Honorary casketbearers were Ann Marie Kuklock and Diane Magdziarz.

Catherine S. Heurung
Catherine S. Heurung, age 85, a resident of Pine Grove Manor, Little Falls, MN, died August 4, 1998, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital.

Funeral services were August 8, 1998, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN, with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Catherine was born on April 30, 1913, of Rice, MN, to Albert and Elizabeth (Roszeck) Sufka. She was united in marriage to Ben Heurung April 6, 1935, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, an avid quilter, and gardener.

Survivors include her husband Ben; sons, Donald Heurung of Grey Eagle, MN and Edward Heurung and wife Donna of Foley, MN; daughters, Doris Kliber of Little Falls, Darlene Thell and husband Joe of Mahtomedi, MN, Frances Kocinski and husband Melvin of Fridley, MN, Carole Proper and husband Fred of Little Falls, Shirley Peka and husband Leo of Little Falls; brothers, Blaise Sufka of Royalton, Andrew Sufka of Rice, Lawrence Sufka of Des Moines, IA, and Raymond Sufka of Grey Eagle; sisters, Elizabeth Chirhart of St. Cloud, Emma Rassier of Sartell, MN and Hattie Lukaswicj of Little Falls; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Charles; brothers John, Joseph, Edwin, Albert, and Nicholas; and seven grandchildren.

Casketbearers were Thomas Kliber, Daniel Heurung, David Heurung, Mike Thell, Jeff Olesch, and Tim Miller.

Ruth Olsen
Ruth Irene Olsen, age 70, a resident of Staples, MN, died at home August 10, 1998.

Funeral services were held August 14 at the Congregational Church in Staples with Reverend Doug Ostlund officiating.

Ruth was born on February 28, 1928, in Cumberland, WI, to the late Floyd and Ruth Silha Harder. She moved to St. Paul, MN, with her parents at an early age. She was united in marriage to Howard Olsen on June 23, 1945, in St. Paul. The couple moved to Little Falls, MN, in 1947, and then to Staples in 1949, where they lived until moving to Arvada, CO. They moved back to Minnesota in 1976, where they resided in Motley, MN, for 21 years before moving to Staples in August of 1997. Ruth enjoyed crafts and wood sculpturing and she traveled throughout the state displaying her work at craft fairs. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, fishing, drawing and painting and sign painting. Ruth was a member of the Staples Congregational Church and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Howard; four sons, Robin (Carol) Olsen of Toledo, OH, Howard (Myrna) Olsen, Jr., of Holton City, TX, Reggie (Robbie) Olson of Coon Rapids, MN, and Kevin (Penny) Olsen of Staples; two daughters, Jodi (Lauren) Ellison of International Falls, MN, and Kim (Jeff) Koppes of Staples; sister, Janice Kuene of Delta, CO; five brothers, Edwin Harder of Federal Way, WA, Bryan Harder of Craig, CO, Norman Harder of Colorado, James Harder of Los Lomas, NM, and Jack Harder of Goodwill, OK; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.

Beulah D. (Buth) Rodger
Beulah Rodger, 92, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, died July 26, 1998, surrounded by her family.

Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on July 30.

Beulah was born July 30, 1905, in Little Falls, MN, to James Peter Larson and Elvina (Nelson) Larson.

Survivors include daughters Jeannine (N. Clifford) Wold, Britton, SD, Michelle (Darrel) Thelen, McAllen, TX; son, William (Delores) Buth, Coon Rapids, MN; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Derald R. Gangstee
Derald R. Gangstee, age 66, died unexpectedly March 8, 1998, at Baja, CA. He was a resident of Santa Clarita, CA.

Derald was born in 1932 in Elmore, MN. Shortly after he moved with his parents to Randall, MN, and then to Little Falls, MN, where he attended school. Derald served four years in the Navy, part of that time in Guam. After discharge in 1959 he became a member of the Los Angeles city fire department. He served 22 years as a fireman, six of those years as an emergency medical technician. He retired in 1982. Since then he spent his time between Santa Clarita and Baja, many times taking food and clothing to an orphanage and others in Baja.

Survivors include four children, sons, Dean of Canyon Country, CA; Scott of Santa Clarita; daughters, Pamela Bently and husband Jim of Citrus Heights, CA; Karen Shane of Woodland Hills, CA; seven grandchildren; sisters, Gerry Voltin of Laguna Hills, CA; and Buffalo, MN; Phyllis Bogs of Lansing, IL; one brother, Byron and stepmother, Berneva Gangstee of Ridgecrest, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

George W. Reynolds
George W. Reynolds, age 79, a resident of St. Cloud, MN, died at his home on August 7, 1998.

Funeral services were August 10 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN, with Rev. Steve Schoepf officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.

George W. Reynolds was born December, 14, 1918, in Akeley, MN, to the late Andrew and Florence (Alcott) Reynolds. George lived in various locations with his family throughout childhood. He entered the U.S. Army in February of 1941 and served until October of 1945. George re-enlisted in 1950 and was discharged the same year. After being discharged from the Army, he enlisted in the National Guard and served from 1950 until 1960. George worked for the Swift Co. in St. Paul from 1950 until 1955. George lived with his family in Little Falls from 1950 until 1982 when he retired from Clark Oil. He also wanted at Camp Ripley as a custodian in the Armory. George moved to St. Cloud in 1982 where he resided until his death. George enjoyed fishing, painting crafts, and being a foster grandparent.

Survivors include his son, David and wife, Arlys of St. Cloud; daughters, Sharon Schwandt of Little Falls, and Edna Williams of Little Falls; brothers, Fredrick Buchholz, Clifford Reynolds, Dale Reynolds and France Reynolds; sisters, Nellie Brown, Betty Perkins, Fern Miller, Norma Gillory, Helen Henry, Cora Cole and Irene Knight; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin daughters; son, Daniel Stanley; three infant brothers; brother, Chester Reynolds; sisters, Zella Wilkinson and Florence Buchholz.

Casketbearers were nieces and nephews.

Roy Martinson

Roy M. Martinson, age 74, a lifelong resident of Randall, Darling Township, Morrison County, MN, died February 5, 1998, at his home.

Funeral services were held February 9 at the Randall Presbyterian Church in Randall with Rev. Suzanne Cekalla officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls.

Roy was born March 6, 1923, in Darling Township to the late Herman and Anna (Strand) Martinson. He grew up in Darling Township where he attended school. He entered the United States Army on October 11, 1944, at Fort Snelling, MN, and received an honorable discharge on November 22, 1946, at Fort Sheridan, IL. During his military service he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Battle Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Battle Star, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was united in marriage to Gladys L. Covel on October 27, 1946, in Alexandria, MN. The couple lived and farmed in Clough Township, Morrison County. After the death of Roy’s father, the couple moved to the family homestead in Darling Township where he resided until his death. Along with farming he also worked for the Little Falls Granite Works, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Randall Presbyterian Church, Charter Member and Life Member of the Randall V.F.W. Post 9073 and the Minnesota Draft Horse Association. He enjoyed raising and working with draft horses, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, spending time with his family and neighbors, gardening and just the peace of being in the woods.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; son, Curtis and wife Jan of Randall; daughters, Kathy Martinson and Pam Weber and husband Jim, all of Sauk Centre, MN; brother, Richard Martinson and wife Harriet of Turlock, CA; sister, Mildred Shutter of Little Falls, MN; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Jim Martinson on June 16, 1997.

Casketbearers were Troy and Lacey Martinson, Chuck, Eric and Michele Bolz, Russ Weber, Kelly Martinson-VanMaanen and Paul VanMaanen.

John May

John William May, age 90, a lifelong resident of Little Falls, MN, died February 6, 1998, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held February 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls.

John was born December 2, 1907, in Little Falls to the late Thomas and Annie (Furman) May. He grew up in Little Falls and attended Lincoln School. He was united in marriage to Margaret M. Rudek on October 3, 1940, in St. James Catholic Church at Randall, MN. He worked on a farm near Upsala for 12 years, 22 years as a milkman for Sanitary Milk & Ice Cream Company, and 12 years for the city of Little Falls, retiring in 1972. On January 15, 1991, he became a resident of the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, residing there until his death. John loved the game of baseball, gardening, helping others in need, his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; daughter, Dolores Wielinski and husband Stanley, Jr., of Perham, MN; sons, William May and wife MaryLou of Winthrop, MN, Richard May and wife Peggy of Little Falls, Edward May and wife Cathleen of Rice, MN, James May and wife Julie of Fort Ripley, MN, and Thomas May and wife Patricia of Coon Rapids, MN, and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George M. May on February 9, 1957; brothers, Edward (Pat) and Loren May; sisters, Myrtle Hostlander, Margaret (Maggie) Gleason, Etta Saturday, Mary and Ruth May.

Casketbearers were his grandchildren.
