Harold E. Rahn

Harold E. Rahn, age 83, a resident of Renville, MN, formerly of the Swanville area died July 27, 1997 at his home. Funeral services were held in Renville on July 31, 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Irma of Renville; son, Dudley of Dixon, CA; step-son Art (and Dee) Karnes of Spicer, MN; stepdaughter Mellody (and Jim) Hansen of Renville; also one brother, Otto of Long Prairie, MN; four sisters, Edna (and Bob) Peterson of Chanhassen, MN, Lydie (and Len) Posch, Little Falls, MN, Lorie (and Ken) Mielke of Bloomington, MN and Lainy (and Lee) Peterson of Richland, WA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.

Lambert Larson

Lambert F. Larson, age 70, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died December 17, 1997, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Graveside services were held December 20 at the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls with Rev. Richard E. Bolling officiating. Military rites were conducted by the Little Falls VFW and American Legion.

Lambert was born January 17, 1927, in Little Falls to the late Lambert B. and Mabel C. (Jacobson) Larson. He grew up in Little Falls where he attended school. Lambert served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After completing his tour of duty, he returned to Little Falls and began working at the Little Falls Packing Co. In the early 1950s, Lambert took a job with the Little Falls Transcript and worked as the advertising manager until the newspaper was sold. He then worked as the custodian at the Little Falls VFW until retiring in 1989. Lambert was a member of Little Falls VFW Post #1112, past post commander and started the VFW Hi Lites Newspaper. He was also a member of the Cooties, Disabled American Veterans and Little Falls American Legion Post 46.

Survivors include his brothers, Kenneth Larson of South St. Paul, MN, and Gerald Larson of Little Falls; sister, Dorothy Reese of Oakwood, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Donald Larson.

Pallbearers were Charlie Sprandel, Mike, Mark, Jeff and Chuck Larson and Mike Reese.

Werner J. Schamal

Werner J. Schamal, 81 year old resident of rural Pierz, MN, died December 21, 1997 at his home.

Funeral services were held December 24 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Kenneth Brenny officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Werner John Schamal was born on July 6, 1916 in Buh Township, Morrison County, MN to the late Frank and Kathy (Schnepeheim) Schamal. He grew up on the family farm in Buh Township, attending country school there. He lived all his life within one mile of where he was born. He was united in marriage to Regina Muehlbauer on October 2, 1945 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN. The couple made their home on the farm where he was born. In 1955 they moved to a farm one mile away where they operated a dairy farm until 1988. The couple continued living on their farm where they resided at the time of his death. In 1985 Werner and Regina were crowned Morrison County King and Queen. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. He was known to like everything, especially gardening. He loved to putz around.

Survivors include his wife, Regina Schamal of Pierz; sisters, Dominicia Zupfer of Minneapolis, MN, and Marie Theis of St. Paul, MN and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry and Louie Schamal and a sister, Annie Zeire.
Pallbearers were Don Saehr, David Saehr, Fred Sauer, Tom Knopik, Rod Muehlbauer and Dan Muehlbauer.

Angeline Gilbride

Angeline Anne Gilbride, age 84, a resident of Pierz, MN, died December 19, 1997 at St. Benedict’s Center in St. Cloud, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 22 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with the Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Angeline Anne Gilbride was born February 20, 1913 in Rice, MN, to the late John and Mary (Meyer) Langer. She grew up in Pierz attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School. After her schooling she worked at home with her parents and, on July 11, 1933, was united in marriage to Milton Gilbride at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz. The couple made their home in Pierz where they owned and operated Gilbridge Motors for over 40 years. Milton died in 1974 and Angeline worked at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz as a baker from 1974 until 1983 when she retired at the age of 70 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz and the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and playing cards.

Survivors include sons and daughters, Kevin Gilbride and wife Kathleen of St. Cloud, Dennis Gilbride and wife Carole of Carmel, IN, Marilyn Obermiller and husband Robert of St. Cloud and Jane Erickson and husband David of Cottage Grove, MN; sister, Marie Weiss of Fridley, MN; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Joseph; brothers, Herbert, Alphonse, Alex, John, Cornellius and Virgil Langer and one granddaughter.

Casketbearers were Richard and Scott Obermiller, Sean, Amy and Patrick Gilbride, Lynn Ault, Marc, Angela and Katie Erickson.

Severen Olson
Severen Clarence Olson, age 65, a resident of Randall, MN, died November 21, 1997, at the VA Medical Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Funeral services were held November 24 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Randall with the Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

Severen was born September 23, 1932, in Lake Crystal, MN, to the late Lester and Clara (Thorson) Olson. He grew up and attended school in Lake Crystal, graduating with the class of 1951. After graduating from high school, he continued living in the Lake Crystal area until enlisting in the United States Army in 1953. Severen was honorably discharged on August 20, 1956. He returned to the Lake Crystal area, working odd jobs until moving to Randall in 1960. He worked for Little Falls Granite Works from 1960 until 1975 and for Tony Downs Foods from 1973 until 1978. Severen retired in 1978 and continued living in the Randall area. He was united in marriage to JoAnn (Pryzibilla) Olson in 1980 and the couple resided in the Randall area. Severen continued working odd jobs during his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, traveling, dancing and, most of all, his saw mill.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Olson of Randall; sons, Val Olson of Randall and Vern Olson of Lincoln, MN; daughters, Darcy Young and husband Dan of Mankato, MN, Sherry Odom and husband Mel of Moore, OK; Sandy Kestner and husband Joseph; Randi Agens and husband William of Pine River, MN, Vicky Olson of Little Falls and Terry Schraut and husband Val of Pierz, MN; stepsons, James Marshik of Little Falls, Robert Marshik of Foley, MN, and Dennis Marshik of Foley; stepdaughters, Darlene Preimesberger and husband John of Pierz, Linda Schmidtbauer and husband Brian of Elk River, MN, and Lisa Marshik of Pierz and 29 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Clara (Thorson) Olson; daughter, Cindy Olson; grandson, Kyle Agens; great-grandson, Brady Siebels and several aunts and uncles.

Helen Fedor
Helen M. Fedor, age 90, a resident of Sauk Rapids, MN, formerly of Holdingford, MN, died November 21, 1997, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids.
Funeral services were held November 24 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Holdingford with the Rev. Tony Oelrich officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Helen was born May 19, 1907, in Chicago, IL, to John and Mary (Waitrak) Stegura. She married Frank Fedor May 19, 1925, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Opole, MN. She was a member of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Rosary Sodality; she was a 50-year member of Christian Mothers.

Survivors include daughters and son, Lorraine Wentland of Holdingford, Janet Duitsman of Elk River, MN, and Lloyd of Holdingford; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters, Walter Stegura of Avon, MN, Joseph Stegura of St. Joseph, MN, Marie Posch of Little Falls, MN, and Eleanor Jacobson of Avon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on March 4, 1986; infant daughter, Irene; three brothers, Stephen, Leo and Stanley and six sisters, Delores Juntunen, Cecilia Posch, Josephine Hervey, Victoria Paggen, Clarine Kollodge and Irene Bersheid.

Pallbearers were grandsons, David, Duane and Daniel Wentland, Thomas, Kenneth, Allen and James Fedor and Mark Duitsman.

Bernadine Burggraff
Mrs. Raymond “Bernadine” Burggraff, age 64, a resident of Royalton, MN, died November 21, 1997, at her home following an illness with cancer.
Funeral services were held November 24 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Bernadine was born on July 24, 1933, in Royalton to Isadore and Emily (Jarosh) Kalis. She married Raymond Burggraff on August 31, 1953. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Christian Mothers in Royalton and was also a member of the Central MN TEC Retreat Program.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond; two sons and three daughters, Roger Burggraff and wife Patty of Royalton, Don Burggraff and wife Carrie of Sartell, MN, Shirley Schreifels and husband Dan of St. Cloud, MN, Karen Boese and husband Dean and Jeanne Mehrwerth and husband Rick of Sauk Rapids, MN; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Larson and husband Elmer of Sobieski, MN, Mrs. Mary Ann Cegla and husband Matt of Moorhead, MN, and Mrs. Dolores Popp and husband Loren of Rice, MN; a brother, Al Kalis and wife Marion of Little Falls, MN, and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and a brother, James Kalis.

Honorary casketbearers were Janell, Daniell, Kristen, Rowen, Gwen, Ryan and Sara Burggraff. Casketbearers were Gary Larson, Dan Kalis, Marvin Schlichting, Ron Cegla, Ralph Burggraff, Jr., and Don Dubbin.

Margarette Binnebose
Margarette Petrene Binnebose, age 77, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Russell and Marshall, MN, died November 22, 1997, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held November 25 at the First Lutheran Church in Marshall with the Rev. Jeff Swanson officiating. Burial was in the Lynd Cemetery near Lynd, MN.

Margarette was born August 19, 1920, in Island Lake Township, Lyon County, MN, to the late Alfred and Annie (Hansen) Peterson. She grew up in Lyon County where her family farmed. She attended Pleasant Hills Country School and Minneota High School where she graduated. Following her schooling she lived with her parents and worked at various jobs. She was united in marriage September 29, 1945, to Harold J. Binnebose at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. Together they lived in Lyon County, and farmed east of Russell. After Harold’s death on February 24, 1990, Margarette moved to the city of Russell for two years and later moved to the Marshall Square Apartments in Marshall. In the summer of 1997 she moved to Little Falls and lived at the Westwind Group Home and in August of 1997 became a resident of the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, residing there until her death. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Russell.

Survivors include her daughters, Emmie Burton and husband James of Edina, MN, and Pamela Wolters and husband Cedric of Little Falls; sister, Irene Swanson of Minneota, MN, and granddaughters, Andrea and Stephanie Burton of Edina.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and a sister, Elsie Anderson.
