Dorothy Fimon
Dorothy Fimon, age 90, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died July 8, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Services were held July 11, at St. Otto’s Care Center Chapel with Rev. Mel Lundeen officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Royalton, MN.

Dorothy Fimon was born December 8, 1907, in Royalton, to the late Joseph and Barbara (Noe) Fimon. She was a lifetime resident of Little Falls, where she worked as a housekeeper.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Barbara (Noe) Fimon; brothers, Joseph and Lester Fimon; sisters, Clara Frazel, Coretta Schmelzer, Elizabeth Norberg, Margaret, Rosella, Delia and Maude Fimon.

Pallbearers were nieces and nephews.

John Hamm
John Hamm, age 31, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died July 17, 1998, in Bemidji, MN, following a car accident.

Funeral services were held July 22 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee, MI, with Father Patrick Wisneske officiating. Burial was in the Niagara Cemetery in Niagara, WI.

Hamm was born May 11, 1967, in Rhinelander, WI, to Robert and Sue Hamm. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

Survivors include a son, Ian Hamm of Little Falls; his parents, Robert and Sue Hamm of Menominee; four sisters, Mary (Michael) Babinec of Tampa, FL, Lynn (John) Redash of Washington, MI, Colleen (Michael) Kirchberg of Chicago, IL, and Roberta Hamm of Chicago; two brothers, Thomas (Stacee) Hamm of Wixom, MI and David Hamm of Menominee; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Susan and Nancy, and a brother, Mark.

Pallbearers were Corey Seelen, Dave Dormanen, Brian Hlad, Phil Moran, Tom Boburka and John DeGrand.

A local memorial gathering is being planned for the near future.

Thomas Gordon, Sr.
Thomas Gordon, Sr., of Edina, MN, formerly of Little Falls, MN, passed away July 18, 1998, at the Fairview Hospital.

Services were held July 22 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Edina. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Little Falls.

Thomas Gordon was born May 3, 1916, in Little Falls to Warren and Georginna Gordon. He married Margaret Ahrna on October 30, 1938. He worked as a salesman in New Hampshire, before moving back to Minnesota.

Survivors include his wife; son, Thomas Jr. of Beach Park, IL; and sisters, Joan Morris of Pocatello, ID, and Patricia Schroeder of Little Falls.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Warren “Buzz”; and infant sister, Rochelle.

Opal Zehlke
Opal M. Zehlke, age 81, a resident of Long Prairie, MN, formerly of Royalton, MN, died July 22, 1998, at the Long Prairie Nursing Home in Long Prairie.

Funeral services were held July 25 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with the Rev. Suzane Cekalla officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.

Opal was born October 6, 1916, in Mitchell, SD, to the late William and Gertrude (Hendricks) Zehlke. She grew up and attended country school in Mitchell, graduating from Plano High School. Opal met and married Charles Zehlke on June 8, 1940, in Harrington, NE. The couple resided in Harrington until 1947 when they moved to the Buckman and Royalton area. She lived in the Buckman and Royalton area until becoming a resident of the Long Prairie Nursing Home in December, 1994, where she resided until her death. Opal enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking and her family.

Survivors include her son, Charles Zehlke of Royalton; daughters, Margaret Zehlke of Albertville, MN, and Kay Prather and husband Dean of Clarissa, MN; sister, Maude Harris of Mitchell, SD; three grandsons and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on July 12, 1976; parents; brothers, John, Bill and Barney Zehlke; and sisters, Marie, Kathryn, Lena, Elizabeth, Ann, Gertrude and Eloise.

Casketbearers were Gerald Perleberg, Walter Masog, Ervin Lardy, Owen Prather, Adam Prather and Brian Prather.

Gertrude Prozinski
Gertrude “Gert” Prozinski, age 81, a resident of Flensburg, MN, died July 19, 1998, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg with Father Tony Kroll and Father Al Quade officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Gertrude was born February 17, 1917, in Pike Creek Township, MN, to Frank J. and Agnes (Stoltman) Zilka. She grew up on the family farm, and attended District #31 school. She also attended Beauty College in St. Cloud. She worked in Rockford, IL, and then returned to the Flensburg area. Gert was united in marriage to Theodore Prozinski on September 4, 1945, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. The couple farmed in Culdrum Township until Ted’s death in 1969. In 1971, Gert moved to Flensburg, and resided there until her death. She enjoyed gardening, canning, collecting and trying new recipes, embroidery work, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Gert was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rosary Sodality.

Survivors include her two daughters, Gail and husband Ron Johnson of Randall, MN, and Linda and husband Pat Roddy of St. Michael, MN; brothers, Stanley and Isadore Zilka of Flensburg; sisters, Marcella Matteson of Excelsior, MN, and Teresa Zilka of Chanhassen, MN; four grandchildren, Ryan Johnson, Heather, Nicole and Shannon Roddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted on October 24, 1969; son, Jerel on June 10, 1967, and sister, Lucille Zilka on April 19, 1995.

Pallbearers were Jerelyn Hopkins, Jeanine Sandberg, Mike Domish, Jim and Kevin Zilka, and Pete Hanowski.

Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Johnson, Heather, Nicole and Shannon Roddy.

Andrew H. Virnig

Andrew H. Virnig, age 82, a resident of Hillman, MN, died March 8, 1998, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

A Mass of Christian burial was held March 11 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hillman. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Andrew H. Virnig was born December 3, 1915, in Granite Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late John and Katherine (Gassert) Virnig. He grew up in Granite Township and attended school there. After his schooling he worked on the family farm. He was united in marriage to MaryAnn C. Schlegel on June 19, 1945, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Bulldog Lake, MN. The couple farmed for a short time in Granite Township, later farming in Pulaski Township where Andrew farmed and resided until his death. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN.

Survivors include his wife MaryAnn; sons, Andrew J., James F. and wife Roxane; John A. and wife Ava; all of Hillman; daughter, Janice Pawlu and husband Roger and Dorothy Dahmen and husband Alfred all of Pierz; brothers, Raymond Virnig and Gerald Virnig and wife Patricia all of Little Falls; sister, Alice Gross of Neillsville, WI; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Delores Hall and Laura Block.

Casketbearers were grandsons, Scott and Robert Virnig, Roger, Andy and John Pawlu and godson, Robert Schlegel, Jr.

Anton F. Rudolph

Anton F. Rudolph of St. Wendel, MN, passed away March 4, 1998, at the Country Manor Health Care and Rehab Center in Sartell, MN.

Funeral services were held March 7 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel. Anton Rudolph was born in Opole, MN, to Albert and Anna (Kuklok) Rudolph. He married Loretta Rajowski November 11, 1930, in Mayhew Lake, MN. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel, and a past member of the School Board for District 188.

Survivors include sons and daughters; James of Onalaska, WI; Dolores Huls of St. Wendel; Donald of Royalton, MN; Rita Johnson of Waconia, MN; Marie Jendro of Park Rapids, MN; Jo Ann Smoley of St. Stephen, MN; Antonitte of St. Cloud, MN; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Leo of Sartell; Alois “AJ” of St. Cloud; Anastasia O’Donnell of Foley, MN and Frances Holt of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his wife (June 12, 1995), two daughters, Ann Marie and Mary, two brothers, Stanley and George and three sisters, Mary Seveda, Angeline Pierskalla and Veronica Clark.
