Stone Samuel Anderson
David and Mary Lou Anderson of Proctor are mourning the death of their infant grandson, Stone Samuel Anderson. He was the son of Mark and Janet Anderson. Stone died Sept. 3, 2003 at Falls Memorial Hospital.

He was born Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 3, 2003 at Falls Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his parents, four brothers and one sister all at home, his maternal grandparents James and Kathleen Holmer of Duluth, three aunts, one uncle and numerous cousins.

Private family services were held. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Floyd E. Foucault
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church for Floyd E. Foucault, 82, of Munger. He died Sat., Sept. 13, 2003 in St. Luke's Hospital.

He was born on March 13, 1921 in Proctor to Edward and Lillian (Johnson) Foucault. He was a Munger resident for most of his life.

Floyd was a graduate of Proctor High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked and retired from U.S. Steel Duluth Works, as a millwright.

Through the years, Floyd had been active in co-founding the Solway Volunteer Fire Department and helping build Hope Lutheran Church. He had also been a constable and fire warden for Solway Township.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church of Munger, Duprey-Alexander V.F.W. Post No. 137, Solway Seniors, Trinity Lodge No. 282 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Duluth and AAD Temple of the Shrine. Floyd was a great lover of music and enjoyed dancing, or as he called it 'be-bop'. He also enjoyed spending time with family and fishing in earlier years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia on July 7, 1977, a son, Floyd E.A. and brother, Wallace.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharen (Larry) Van Den Heuvel of Munger; grandchildren, Rhonda Bloomer of Minneapolis, Roberta (Kyle) Peterson, Edward Foucault, Rodney Bloomer and Virginia (John) Jones, all of Munger, and Wayne and Robin Foucault, both of Saginaw; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bloomer and Zoe and Emma Jones; and nephews, Robert, Dan, Ron and Garry Foucault.

Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Park, with military honors accorded by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard.

Carl Edward 'Petta' Anderson
Services were held earlier this week for Carl Edward "Petta" Anderson. The former Village Drive resident died Sat., Sept. 20, 2003. He was 91.

The Hermantown resident was born in Duluth. Carl married Shirley Marie Foucault on Nov. 9, 1935. He had worked part-time for ten years, during the summer months, for the U.S. Forest Service in Isabella. He and his wife Shirley lived in Isabella for 16 summers, and in Harlingen, Texas, for 18 winters.

Survivors include his daughters Shirley A. (James) Sellman of Saginaw and Betty (Vincent) Pavik of Rockford, Minn., eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by Bell Brothers Funeral and Cremation Services.

Doris C. Bisset McKibbon
Cliff (Butch) Anderson of Saginaw is mourning the death of his mother, Doris C. Bisset McKibbon. She died Tues., Sept. 16, 2003, in Duluth. She was 83.

She was born in Eleva, Wis., and was a graduate of Denfeld High School and the Duluth Business University. She married Frederick McKibbon on April 20, 1957. She had worked at Duluth Cold Storage and Montgomery Wards. Doris was a member of the West Duluth Moose Lodge.

Doris is also survived by two daughters, another son, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Oneota Cemetery.

Douglas R. Nelson
Jacklyn VanValkenburg of Saginaw is mourning the death of her father, Douglas R. Nelson. He died Sun., Sept. 21, 2003, in a Duluth hospital. He was 60.

The Duluth resident was born in Superior. He was a graduate of East High School in Superior and University of Wisconsin, Superior. He was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army in military intelligence, personnel and finance. He married Donna Bergstrom in 1969. He retired in 1998 as a city planner for the city of Duluth and was in charge of the C.D.B.G. Program. He was a member of AFSCME Local 66 and had served as their delegate to the Central Labor Body.

Doug is also survived by his wife Donna, another daughter, a sister, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Nathan Paul Hennessy
Nathan Paul Hennessy who grew up in Proctor and was a 1994 graduate of Proctor High School, died Sat., Sept. 27 in his Duluth home. He was 27.

Nathan was born April 17, 1976 in Duluth to Sharon (Swanson) and David Hennessy.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert and Dolly Swanson; uncle, Steven Hennessy; and cousins David and Marita Falk.

He is survived by his mother, Sharon (B.B. 'Brad Dad' Bennett) Hennessy; brothers Ryan (Brenda) and Eric, all of Proctor; a sister, Amber Halvorson of Proctor; his nephew Andrew Nathan Hennessy and his dog, 'my little buddy' Thor; his father, David; paternal grandparents, Morris and Shirley Hennessy, many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.

Lorraine M. Landin
Lorraine M. Landin, who was born in Proctor and graduated from its high school, died Fri., Sept. 26 in Duluth. She was 94.

She was born to Fred and Tressia (Knott) Beron. Lorraine had been employed as a switchboard operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for several years and was credit manager at Oreck's for many years. She married Milton Landin on July 14, 1939 in Norwood, Iowa. Lorraine was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milton in 1982, brothers Raymond, Willard, Gordon and Dwight Beron, and sister Blanche Knutson.

Survivors include her son Mark (Joy) Landin of Duluth, grandsons Aaron, Troy and Thomas Landin, all of Duluth, and many nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Park Hill Cemetery.

Rose L. Peters
Rose L. Peters, 87, formerly of Railview Apartments in Proctor and North 59th Ave West passed away Mon., Oct. 6, 2003 in Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Brookston, to Frank and Blanche McMahon. Rose was one of the original founders of the Head Start Program in Duluth and when she retired, she received high recognition from the governor of Minnesota. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church where she was involved in many activities. Rose was a glow of light and love and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Terrance, her husband, Walter and a sister, Doris Colacino.

She is survived by daughters, Mary Gayle Brice and Sue Beecher, both of Seattle and Maureen (Ron) Crews of Orlando; sons, Gary (Loretta) of Calif, Timothy (Nellie) of Duluth, Philip (Sue) of Buffalo; Kevin (Kim) of Ada; Tom (Laurie) of Brooklyn Park; Richard, Anthony and David all of Duluth; sisters, Virginia (Edward) Pierce of Ariz., Bernice Byram of Arlington, Virg. Joanne McMahon, M.M. of Micronesia, Kathleen (Joseph) McNamara of Duluth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Mass today, Thurs., in St. James Catholic Church.

Burial in Sunrise Memorial Park.

Eileen June Envall
Memorial Services will be held Sat., Oct. 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Eileen June Envall. She died unexpectedly Fri., Oct. 3, 2003, at her home in Morro Bay, Calif. She was 65.

Eileen was born on June 6, 1938 to Bert and Astrid Envall. She graduated from Proctor High School. Eileen worked at the Pekin Restaurant and Ben Franklin's Store before moving to Morro Bay, where she worked at the Aquarium.

She was preceded in death by her father Bert Envall, and her brother Lloyd (Kathy) Envall.

Survivors include her mother Astrid Envall of Duluth, brothers Ray (Theresa) of Duluth and Del of Proctor, a sister Judy (Bob) Backstrom of Oakdale, Minn., 13 nieces and nephews, and 13 great nieces and nephews.

Immanuel Lutheran Church is located at 614 Second St. in Proctor.

James Joseph Perrault
Services were held yesterday for James Joseph Perrault, 70. He died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003 following a short battle with lung cancer.

He was born Dec. 13, 1932 in St. Paul and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jim was united in marriage to Esther Heinonen in 1985. He was employed as a carpenter and sider with various companies. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #71 and served as current Governor of Proctor Moose Lodge #1302.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Irene (Fairbanks) Perrault; his first wife, Jan Perrault; brother, Peter and sister, Phyllis Wakefield.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Esther; children, Diane (Dave) Sundberg of Superior; Karen (Brad Hennis) Erickson of Duluth, Rae (Patrick) O'Leary of Oregon and Jon (Stacey) Niemi of Illinois; brothers, Gerald of Eveleth, Eugene (Donna) of Virginia, Terry, Dennis (Carol) and Kenny (Tess) all of Duluth; sisters, Judi Perrault and Ardell Anderson both of Duluth; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews.

Sandra K. Sams
Sandra K. Sams, who graduated from Proctor High School, died Thurs., Oct. 2, 2003.

The Cloquet resident was born in Duluth to James and Alice Laffin. She also attended the Duluth Business University. Sandy was first employed by Western Weighing and Inspection Bureau and then worked for Conwed in Cloquet, which later became USG, until her retirement in 2003. She had been a hospice volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for five years. She lived in Cloquet and enjoyed working on her house, gardening, walking, inline skating and snowmobiling.

She is survived by her father James Laffin, sisters Pat (Gary) Hartranft of Duluth and Kathy (Michael) Pellin of Valparaiso, Ind., and a nephew Ryan (Andrea) Hartranft of Augusta, Maine. The family is thankful to St. Luke's hospice staff and volunteers for their compassionate care.
