Agnes Psick
Agnes Francis Psick, age 76, a resident of Bowlus, MN, died September 2, 1998, at the Lutheran Senior Care Center in Little Falls, MN.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held September 5 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus with the Rev. Silverius Schmidt officiating and Deacon Jerry Roth assisting. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Agnes was born January 21, 1922, in Swan River Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Frank and Victoria (Waltman) Gosiak. She grew up in Swan River Township where she attended school in District #45. She attended Little Falls High School, graduating with the class of 1938. Agnes was united in marriage to George A. Psick on November 10, 1941, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus. Following their marriage, the couple moved to South Saint Paul, MN. In 1948, they returned to Bowlus where they owned and operated George & Ag’s Bowlus Super Service for 35 years. Following their retirement, George and Agnes continued to live in Bowlus. George passed away November 3, 1987. After his death, Agnes continued to live in Bowlus, residing there until her death. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, Christian Mothers, the Rosary Sodality and the Bowlus VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Psick and wife Judy of Forest Lake, MN; daughter, Patricia Marsolek and husband Lowell of Litchfield, MN; brother, Ambrose Gosiak and wife Martha of Little Falls; sisters, Florence Pekula of Sobieski, MN, and Elizabeth Casper of Little Falls; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; infant son, Kenneth; parents; brother, Leo Gosiak and a sister, Mary Solarz.

Casketbearers were Doug Psick, David Nowicki, Chad and Brent Marsolek, Matt Cavanaugh and Mike Reis.

Virgil J. Miller
Virgil J. Miller, age 91, of Wabasha, MN, died September 2, 1998, at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Wabasha.

A funeral service was held September 5 at the United Church of Christ in Wabasha with the Reverend Jennifer Stoos officiating. Interment was in the Benton County Cemetery in Sauk Rapids, MN.

Virgil was born June 8, 1907, in Conde, SD., the son of Jake and Rose (Kline) Miller. He was a graduate of Clearwater High School in Clearwater, MN, having moved there as a child. He married Amy Yatckoske in June of 1931 in Little Falls, MN. She died in 1970. He worked in Bellingham, MN, as manager of a creamery there, and then moved to Wendell, MN, where he managed the Co-op Creamery for 25 years. He moved to Wabasha in 1959 where he owned and operated the Florin Dairy. He married Ester Haug October 12, 1964, in Kerkoven, MN. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Wabasha.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Miller of Willmar, MN; sons and daughters-in-law, Virgil and Maryls Miller, Jr., Minneapolis, MN, Veryl (Bud) and Vera Miller, Wabasha, MN; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Toby) Miller, Little Falls; sisters, Sadie Yatckoske, Little Falls, Hazel (Mrs. Myron) Nunnamaker, Chula Vista, CA, Margaret Thurber, Corvallis, OR; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amy, and three brothers, Ivan, Barney and Kay Miller.

Michael L. Bonneville II
Michael L. Bonneville, II, age 30, formerly of Duluth, MN, died at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, while vacationing.

Michael was born in Duluth on August 11, 1968. He attended St. James Catholic School, Irving School and Central School in Duluth. He was a devout Catholic and most recently attended Fort Lee Chapel in his hometown of Hopewell, VA. Michael had many interests. He enjoyed participating in Special Olympics, volunteering for various programs, and sitting on a boat or on shore fishing. Michael was happiest doing nothing more than visiting his family, especially his nieces and nephew.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Helga of Hopewell, VA; grandparents, Wilbur and Betty of Cloquet, MN; sisters, Karoline (David) Erickson of Little Falls and Michaela (Greg) Borash of Duluth; nieces Lorraine, Christina and Cassandra Erickson; and a nephew, Matthew Borash.

Michael touched the lives of many. People fortunate enough to have met Michael were truly touched by an angel.

Kathleen Rajkowski
Kathleen M. Rajkowski, age 54, a resident of Foley, MN, died September 6, 1998, at St. Cloud Hospital, after a 10-1/2 year battle with breast cancer.

Funeral services were held September 9 at SS. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Gilman, MN, with the Rev. Virgil Helmin officiating. Burial was in the Assumption Mausoleums, St. Cloud, MN.

Kathleen was born June 7, 1944, in Foley to Daniel J. and Dorothy (Lepinski) Malikowski. She married Clarence Rajkowski on June 3, 1964, at SS. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church, Gilman. She was a lifelong resident of the Foley area. She was a member of the Rosary Society and the Benton County Homemakers Association.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence of Foley; sons and daughter, Dan of Arcadia, WI, Audra and Tim Popp of Royalton, MN, Curtis and Karla of Foley, Jason of St. Cloud and Bradley and Eric at home; grandmother, Mary Lepinski of Sauk Rapids, MN; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Patrick Malikowski of Sartell, MN, Rodger Malikowski of Crystal, MN, Carol Pappenfus of Gilman, Christine Jurek of Foley, Dennis Malikowski of Foley, Clifford Malikowski of St. Cloud, Janet (Malikowski) Puchalla of St. Cloud, Vern Malikowski of Rice, MN, Kevin Malikowski of Sauk Rapids, Susan Hess of Sartell, Duane Malikowski of Richfield, MN, Rachelle Gully of St. Joseph, MN, and Roxanne Moon of Sartell.

She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Malikowski in 1990; brother, Arthur Malikowski; grandparents, Joseph and Clara Malikowski and Charles Lepinski.

Pallbearers were Charles Malikowski, Reggie Malikowski, Kim Gummert, Sue Bechtold, David Mertz, Shawn Bemboom, Terry Mertz, Shawn Brenny and Aaron Brenny.

Shirley Smolnik
Shirley Ann “Cookie” Smolnik died September 5, 1998, at her home in Royalton, MN, after a short illness with cancer.

Memorial services were held September 9 at Peace United Church of Christ in St. Cloud, MN.

Shirley was born May 26, 1942, in Sauk Rapids, MN, to James and Martha (Doeden) Warrick. She married Richard Smolnik on May 3, 1969. They lived in Sauk Rapids until moving their family to Royalton in 1979. Cookie was a homemaker and also worked at Oakridge Homes in Little Falls, MN, from 1991 until 1997. She enjoyed spending time raising animals on their hobby farm, gardening and making live enjoyable for others. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and generosity to all living things.

Survivors include her husband, Dick of Royalton; children and spouses, Kim Smolnik of Daytona Beach, FL, Todd Smolnik and wife Kathy of Rice, MN, Tami Kuebelbeck and husband Marc of Anchorage, AK, Brenda Holthaus and husband Loren of Becker, MN, and Carrie Koelbl and husband Chris of Royalton; grandchildren, Amber, Tyler and Brett Smolnik and Kelsey and Brandon Holthaus; brothers and sisters, James Warrick of Sauk Rapids, Beverly Justin of Brainerd, MN, and Eugene Warrick, Lorraine Penly and Delores Wainright, all of Sauk Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ernest Warrick in 1957 and Martha (Doeden) Warrick in 1993.

Glenda Hayes
Glenda Hayes, age 46, a resident of Hillman, MN, died suddenly at her home September 5, 1998. Cause of death is believed to be a heart attack.

Funeral services were held September 9 at the Lakeview Community Church in Hillman with Rev. David Gouldin and Rev. Thomas Franklin officiating. Music was provided by Janelle Holmquist, Jack and Polly Hayes, Marilyn Hayes-Phillips, Mari Bailey and Arnold Wannebo. Burial was at the Lakeview Community Cemetery in Hillman.

Glenda was born May 12, 1952, in Brainerd, MN, the daughter of Verdelle and Glen Goble. She lived to young adulthood in the Brainerd area, was married to Ron Kowalczyk and became a young mother with the birth of Suzi. This marriage ended in divorce. On November 4, 1978, she married Rod Hayes, a native of the Hillman area. Rod adopted Suzi, and together they adopted Cassie September 7, 1982. Glenda was a talented quilter and craftswoman and owned the Hayes Corner Quilt Shop near Hillman. She was an active member of Lakeview Community Church where she served on the board as Sunday School superintendent. Glenda was the township clerk for Richardson Township and active in the Lions Club. She also babysat daily for Vanessa, age two and one-half years, her only grandchild, on whom she doted. Glenda leaves a gigantic gap in many lives. She was a loving wife and mother and a strong Christian who lived out her beliefs in good and kindly words and deeds. She was a pillar of emotional strength for so many friends and family members. At Rod and Glenda’s farm, the coffee pot was always on and people knew they were welcome to drop in for a while and talk.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Rod Hayes; daughters, Cassie and Suzi; son-in-law, T.J. Block; granddaughter, Vanessa; mother, Verdelle Goble; sister, JoLeta Buss and husband Dick and their children, Rachael and Patrick; brothers, Kent, his wife Anne and children, Ben, Andy and Beth; and Marlon and wife Kathy and niece, Dawn; parents-in-law, Rex Hayes family (Lois, Rex, Jack and Polly Hayes, Marilyn and Lem Phillips and Barbara Bailey and her children, Mari, Anne and John) and many cousins and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen in 1991.

Casketbearers were Herbert, Ronald, Curtis and Russell Wall, Paul and Bruce Olson. Honorary casketbearers were Roger, Marlon and Kent Goble, Jack Hayes, T.J. Block and Dick Buss.

Letha Hamer
Letha Hamer, age 81, a resident of Pierz, MN, died August 2, 1998, at her residence.

There were no services.

Letha was born January 15, 1917, at Semmes, AL, to Andrew and Melvina (Parker) Mills. She will be remembered for her love and caring for all people. An expert seamstress, over 100 family and friends received from her individually designed and costumed soft sculpture dolls, lovingly called “Nana Dolls.” These will be handed down, along with her legacy of love and caring, for generations to come.

Survivors include three daughters, Hope, Faith and Charity; son, Lewis; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lewis.

Miroslav Stojanovic and Shari Stojanovic
Dr. Miroslav “Mikki” Stojanovic, age 33, and Shari Stojanovic, age 26, of Grand Rapids, MI, formerly of Belgrade, Serbia and Staples, MN, died unexpectedly on their fourth wedding anniversary September 3, 1998, in Michigan.

A Trisagion was held September 8 at the Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Chapel in Grand Rapids. Funeral services were held September 11 at the United Methodist Church in Motley, MN, with Rev. Larry Hager officiating. Burial followed in the Motley Public Cemetery.

Dr. Stojanovic, formerly of Belgrade, Serbia, is survived by his parents, Obren and Ljiljana; a brother, Milan Stojanovic of Belgrade; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shari is survived by her mother, Patricia Carlson of Staples; sister, Michelle Stewart; three aunts, Ruth (Maurice) LaFontaine, Kathryn (Walter) Engle and Beatrice Geir; uncle, William Stewart and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
