Rita Salber
Rita Salber, age 61, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died September 5, 1998, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held September 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery.

Rita was born February 4, 1937, in Ellsworth, MN, to Joseph and Mathilda (Gerardy) Wagner, where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Robert Salber on August 18, 1958 in Ellsworth, and moved to Nebraska where they farmed until 1968. They then moved to Minnesota where they farmed in Browerville until they retired in 1989 and moved to Little Falls. Rita worked for several years in Little Falls at Hardee’s as a hostess. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and her hobbies included family get-togethers, gardening, and a great love for her church.

Survivors include her husband Robert Salber of Little Falls, MN; sons, Kenny Salber and special friend Paula Kestner of Randall, MN, and Tim Salber and wife Sue of Maple Grove, MN; daughters, Shirley Zilka and husband Gerard of Brainerd, MN, and Karen Tuenge and husband Jim of Sun Prairie, WI; brothers, George Wagner of Clarissa, MN, and Joseph Wagner of Ellsworth, MN; sister Delores Salber of Brower-ville, MN; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister.

Casketbearers were Roger Salber, Mike Salber, Bruce Wagner, Greg Wagner, Doug Salber, and Phillip Lordeman.

Stephanie R. Meyer
Stephanie R. Meyer, age 11, a resident of Waite Park, MN, died September 7, 1998, at her home, as a result of a degenerative nerve disease.

Funeral services were held September 10 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. Burial was at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

Stephanie was born on March 26, 1987, in St. Cloud, MN, to Steven Meyer and Nona King. She attended special education classes at Westwood Elementary School.

Survivors include her parents; brothers, Ryan Meyer and Alex Meyer, at home; and grandmother, Mary Meyer of Little Falls.

Marie Rudie
Marie Rudie, age 92, a resident of Sullivan Care Center in Spokane, WA, a former resident of Holdingford, MN, died August 24, 1998, in Spokane.
Services were held August 28. Burial was in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Spokane, WA.

Marie was born August 1, 1906 to John and Elizabeth (Evans) Brady of Holdingford and later moved to the Bowlus area. She was united in marriage to Joe Rudie on June 9, 1925, in Bowlus, MN. They lived on a farm in Two Rivers Township until they moved to California in the 1950s.

Survivors include her three daughters, Diane Moore, Hunting Beach, CA, Patricia Truzinski, Havasu Landing, CA, Iris Baumann, Saulsbury, TN; two sons, Gary Rudie of Priest Lake, ID, and Norbert Rudie of Crystal, MN; a sister, Ann Litchy, Verona, MO; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe Rudie in 1994; and two brothers, Nick and Jim Brady.

James B. Monn
Services for James B. Monn, age 67, a resident of St. Cloud, MN, who died September 8, 1998, at the St. Cloud Hospital were held September 11 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud.

James Monn was born on April 9, 1931, in St. Cloud to Albin and Monica (Harren) Monn. He married Beatrice Bentfield June 29, 1963, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud and the couple divorced. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and employed as a mechanic by Arnold’s Equip-ment in St. Cloud, then as a airplane Mechanic and Inspector at Leaders Flying service in Clear Lake until retiring. He was currently employed as a school bus driver for the Guardian School Bus Company. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, the VFW Post 428 of St. Cloud, and the American Legion Post 254 of Sauk Rapids.

Survivors include his daughter and son, Michelle Monn and Mark Monn, both of St. Cloud and his brother, Joseph Monn of Little Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Warren Martinson
Warren Willard Martinson, age 77, a resident of Upsala, MN, died September 8, 1998, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN.

Funeral services were held September 11 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala with Pastor Alan Bray officiating. Military rites were provided by the Upsala American Legion Post 350. Burial was at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Parish Cemetery.

Warren was born December 18, 1920, in Upsala to Andrew and Nellie (Pehrson) Martinson. He attended school in Upsala. On December 18, 1941, he was united in marriage to Elsie Berens in Long Prairie, MN. Warren served in the United States Army during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, and Germany. He worked at the Upsala Co-op Creamery and Feed Store for 20 years. He was then part owner of Proto Sheet Metal Co. in Adren Hills, MN, until retirement. Warren was a charter member of the Upsala Volunteer Fire Department and past member of the American Legion of Upsala.

Survivors include Elsie (Berens) Martinson of Upsala; sons, Warren A. Martinson and wife Sue of Fergus Falls, MN, and Gary A. Martinson and wife Susan of Ramsey, MN; daughter, Mary L. Stroman and husband David of Denver, CO; sister Bonnie Amren and husband Lindor of Upsala; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Walter, Stanley, and Grant Martinson; three sisters, Vinnie Swenson, Pearl Michaelis, and Grace Erlandson; and two grandchildren, Amber and Adam Martinson.

Casketbearers were Bill Osberg, Tom Lind, Bob Blaeser, Martin Berens, Winton Hagstrom and Mellie Anderson.

Honorary casketbearers were Gary Martinson, Jr., Scott Martinson, Andrew Martinson, David Stroman, Heather Wahlgren and Jennifer Stroman.

Peter Lange
Peter B. Lange died September 9, 1998, at the Golden Age Home in New Munich, MN.

Funeral services were held September 12 at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Francis, MN. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Peter was born in St. Francis to Frank and Katherine (Lehner) Lange. He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Francis, the Albany Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Council 3628, the Catholic Aid Society and the St. Francis Men’s Society. He drove a gas delivery truck for Holmen Oil of Upsala, MN, for many years.

Survivors include sisters, Anna Gerads of St. Anthony, MN, Loretta Herkenhoff of Albany, MN, and Bertha Henderson of Scottsdale, AZ.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Jerry and Lawrence and six sisters, Barbara Hortsch, Agnes Voss, Frances Harren, Monica Ostendorf, Madelon and Kathryn.

Peter Herman
Peter Herman, age 85, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died September 8, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

A memorial service was held September 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger officiating.

Peter was born on November 10, 1912, in Little Falls Township, MN, to Paul and Elizabeth (Ross) Herman. He was united in marriage to Clara Fautsch on August 12, 1941, at St. Adelbert’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. He worked on the family farm in Little Falls Township and also at Kiewel and Grain Belt Brewery in Minnea-polis. Peter enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.

Survivors include his wife Clara of Little Falls township; children Marie Sandman and husband Loren of Little Falls, Leonard Herman and wife Judy of Little Falls, Irene Moore and husband George of Little Falls, Alfred Herman of Little Falls, Richard Herman and wife Judy of Little Falls, Donald Herman and wife Sandy of Little Falls, Lois Herman of Thousand Oaks, CA, Gerald Herman and wife Mardell of Little Falls, Helen Becktold and husband Kenneth of Holdingford, MN, Diane Santala and husband Tom of Sartell, MN, and Linda Walker and husband Charles of St. Cloud; brother Bernard Herman of Little Falls; sister, Ann Dokka of Milwaukee, WI; 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and nine brothers.

Marilyn L. Liners

Marilyn L. Liners, age 65, a resident of Hillman, MN, former resident of New Brighton, MN, died September 9, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN.
A prayer service will be held September 14 at the Nelson - Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd at 6:30 p.m. Father Richard Kunst will officiate.

Marilyn was born June 22, 1933, in New Brighton to Albert and Ela Hoglund. She and her husband owned and operated the Spring Brook Resort in Rice, MN, for 11 years, and the Chicken Shack in Hillman for 22 years.

Survivors include a sons, Daniel and Terrance both of Hillman; daughter, Rebecca Majerus of Little Falls; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; husband Lawrence Liners, sister Evelyn VanWagner and brother, Lorence Hoglund.
