John Wojciak
John Joseph Wojciak died October 2, 1998, at his home in Bradbury Township, MN, at the age of 82 years.

Funeral services were held October 6 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia, MN, with Fr. Bernard Miscke officiating. Interment was in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Onamia.

John Joseph Wojciak was born on September 8, 1916, to Francis and Tekla (Moskal) Wojciak in Minneapolis, MN. He attended school at Edison High School in Minneapolis, MN, where he graduated. He was united in marriage to Ann Dohanick on February 2, 1940, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Minneapolis. John served in the United States Navy during World War II. In 1946, the couple resided in Chicago for a few years. The couple then settled in the Johnsdale area near Onamia where John was a self-employed carpenter and mason. He was a member of the American Legion Post and the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his dear friend, Evelyn Snaza; daughter, Jannetta Spahn and husband, Michael of Brooklyn Park, MN; two sons, Frank of Pigeon Forge, TN and Jerry and wife, Leanne of Onamia, MN; seven granddaughters, one great-grandson, two half brothers, Ed Jachymowski of New Brighton and Ray Jachymowski of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann in 1985, parents, a daughter in infancy, a grandson in infancy and seven brothers and sisters.

Casketbearers were Larry Milton, Kevin Gusk, Tom Kunz, Bobbie Hoheisel, Eddie Gibas and Jim Biniek.

Alfred Zak
Alfred Zak, age 89, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 6, 1998, at St. Otto’s Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held October 8 at St. Otto’s Care Center Chapel with Father Bernard Kahlhammer officiating. Burial was at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in Bull Dog Lake.

Alfred was born December 1, 1908, to Walter and Annie (Schubert) Zak in Little Falls. He was united in marriage to Christine Hoheisel on November 27, 1935. They farmed in Aitkin County by Portage Lake in McGregor, MN. They had six children. In 1942, Alfred was classed Army Reserve Duty. He was sent to the Union Pacific Coal Company in Rock Springs, WY. Alfred returned back to the farm in late 1945 and did some work in the iron mines in northern MN. He also had a small wild rice business. He did a lot of hunting and trapping, Alfred liked the wooded outdoor country. In his trapping, he was a bit by a rabid mink and was infected with tularemia disease, which caused him to suffer for many years. He had spent several years at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Survivors include his children, Sharon Enger, Dale Zak, and Carol Goranson; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Leo Zak of Hillman, MN; sisters, Louise Thommes of Lastrup, MN and Josephine Kainz of Harding, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Christine; children, Donna May, Joyce and Janette; one grandchild; brother, Pete Zak; and sister, Bertha (Zak) Kahlhamer.

Ralph K. Truman
Ralph K. Truman, age 86, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 4, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held October 8 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Burial was in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls. Military rites were conducted by the Little Falls VFW and American Legion.

Ralph K. Truman was born February 10, 1912, in Highmore, SD, to the late Henry J. and Maude ‘Burnham’ Truman. He grew up in Highmore and graduated from the Highmore High School. Ralph came to the Little Falls area in 1938 and began farming. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lasky on July 29, 1940, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls. Ralph worked on the Alaskan Highway from 1941-1942. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre in Okinowa and the Philippines until his discharge in 1946. Ralph returned to Little Falls and worked as a bartender at Ring’s Red Bull Bar for three years. He served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1946-1950. He purchased a truck and worked a vending route for Von’s Supply Company from 1949-53. Ralph managed the Little Falls VFW Club for many years. He later was a bartender at the Brass Rail and then worked at Bares Hardware in Little Falls until retiring in 1977. Ralph was named Senior Citizen of the Year in July of 1988. He served on the Board of Little Falls Senior Center and spent many hours volunteering as a meals on wheels driver and on donut delivery. He was very active in A.A. Ralph was a member of the Little Falls VFW Post #1112 and the American Legion Post #46.

Survivors include his sons, Garrold ‘Butch’ Truman and wife Janis of Orange Park, FL, Jim Truman and wife Peggy of Bertha, MN and Tim Truman of Little Falls; daughters, Pam Cameron and husband David of Audubon, MN and Lynn Adams and husband Jim of Bertha; one brother, Burnham ‘Bernie’ Truman of Havasu City, AZ; sisters, Pauline Pekarek of Little Falls and Fern Smith and husband Louis of California; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in March, 1976.

Pallbearers were grandchildren.

Richard DeMarais
Richard L. DeMarais of Hillman, MN, formerly of Bloom-ington, MN, died October 4, 1998.

A memorial service was held October 8 at the Washburn-McReavy Chapel in Coon Rapids. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife, Ardell; son, Rick (Ann Marie); daughters, Sue (Lloyd) Schroeder and Sandy (Claus) Hildesheim; son-in-law, Michael Olson; grandchildren, Kristy (Bill) Fox, David Schroeder, Lisa (Andy) Bohlen, Marc Hildesheim, Craig Olson, Sean (Sherri) Hildesheim; great-grandchildren, Andy and Austin Fox, and Zach Hildesheim; brother, Charles (Vera) DeMarais; sister, Dorothy (John) Engdahl; brother-in-law, Bill Sparrey; five nephews and two nieces and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Kathleen “Kaye” Olson and sister, Barbara Sparrey.

Memorials were preferred to the American Cancer Society Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Hillman, MN.

Veronica Finken
Veronica A. Finken, formerly of Holdingford, MN, passed away October 5, 1998 at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, MN.

Funeral services were held October 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford, MN. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Veronica Finken was born in Melrose, MN, to Henry and Agnes (Imdieke) Hinnenkamp. She married Mathew Finken on September 5, 1933, in Melrose. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Salitros of Bowlus, MN; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died October 6, 1980, a brother, Leo, and two sisters, Rose Barhost and Christine Stadherr.

Edward Posch
Edward Posch, age 87, a resident of Royalton, MN, died October 10, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held October 13 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Burial was at Holy Trinity Parish Cemetery.

Edward was born May 6, 1911, to Frank and Francis (Thomalla) Posch. He married Rose Krystosek in Royalton on October 4, 1938. They owned a hardware store and gas station before farming full-time. They farmed two miles east of Royalton until retirement in 1981. Edward received the Bishop’s Medal of Merit on December 2, 1973. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society member, along with trustee, lector, and choir member at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Edward unlocked the church for years, made copies for the religion teachers, put out the garbage, did general maintenance and was very active in his church.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose; infant son, Joseph; two brothers and one sister.

Dennis Edward Witucki
Dennis Edward Witucki, age 16, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 7, 1998, at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, after a lengthy illness with cancer.

Funeral services were held October 10 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial was in the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls.

Dennis E. Witucki was born May 7, 1982, in Columbus, WI, to Dennis F. Witucki and Veronica G. (Langner) Duscher. At the age of one year his family moved to Little Falls where he grew up. He attended Lindbergh Elementary School, Little Falls Middle School and Little Falls High school. He was a member of the Little Falls Flyer baseball and football teams. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, video games, watching movies and listening to music.
Survivors include his mother, Veronica Duscher of Little Falls; father Dennis F. Witucki of Milwaukee, WI; sisters, Rhonda Witucki and Britney Duscher, both of Little Falls; grandparents, Vern and Mary Tanner of Little Falls and Edward Witucki of Little Falls; one nephew and many aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Loretta Witucki; Godmother, Mary Witucki and three uncles.

Casketbearers were Jason Rochell, Tom Langner, Daniel Witucki, Jason Forcier, Tim Rausch and Keith Duscher.

Alois Stanoch
Alois Stanoch, of Upsala, MN, formerly of Opole, MN, died October 11, 1998, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Funeral services were held October 15 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Alois Stanoch was born March 30, 1923, in Brockway Township, Stearns County, MN, to Michael and Mary (Pintok) Stanoch. He married Adelaide Wentland on June 21, 1951, in Holdingford, MN. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Opole and he farmed the family farm until his retirement in 1985. He worked in the stainless steel industry welding automatic sprinkler systems for 14 years. He moved to Upsala in 1993.

Survivors include children, James of Holdingford, Ronald of Holdingford, Jerome of St. Cloud, Mary Lou of Spring Lake Park, Ann Yell of Hudson, WI, Roger of Chaska, Judy Berglin of Coon Rapids, Joan Anderson of Sauk Rapids and Michael of Hanska, MN; 20 grandchildren; and, brothers and sisters, Edward of St. Paul, George of St. Paul and Sister Evangeline OSF of Little Falls and Sister Seraphine OSF of Little Falls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, who died September 13, 1984; two brothers, Alfred and Leo; three sisters, Bernadette, Martha, and Elizabeth.
