Ruth Louise Schofield
Ruth Louise Schofield, age 90, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 18, 1998, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were October 24 at the Faith, Hope & Love Fellowship Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Jan Boseman officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.

Ruth Louise Schofeld was born September 18, 1908, in Granite, to the late Homer and Molly (Anderson) Davis. She grew up in Perryton, TX, and then in Amarillo, TX, where she attended school. She was married to Daniel Nitschke. She later married Fred Schofield in Amarillo, where the couple made their home and Ruth worked as a seamstress. Fred died in 1973. Ruth continued to live in Amarillo until 1989 when she moved to Little Falls and became a resident of the Lutheran Care Center where she resided until her death.

Survivors include daughters, Mary McKierman of Rice, MN, Mae Stapp and Kathy Tidell both of Amarillo, Dr. M.L. Nitschke of Portland, OR; brother, Sid Davis of Buckeye, AZ; sisters, Peggy and Joy Davis of Amarillo, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; parents and brothers, Harley and Alfred Davis.

lla M. Pfeiffer
Ila M. Pfeiffer, age 70, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Swanville, MN, died October 18, 1998, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were October 21 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville with Rev. John O. Grein officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, near Swanville.

Ila M. Pfeiffer was born April 5, 1928, in Johnson, MN, to the late Henry and Lydia (Baak) Karstens. The family moved to Culdrum Township, near Swanville, when Ila was a young girl. She grew up in Culdrum Township and attended country school. Ila was united in marriage to Verdell W. Pfeiffer on June 14, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Culdrum Township. The couple farmed in Culdrum Township, four miles north of Swanville, until retiring. Ila continued to live on the family farm until coming to reside at Pine Grove Manor in Little Falls in 1997. Ila enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, listening to book tapes, playing cards, bowling and visiting with friends. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Swanville and the church Ladies Aid and Evening Circle.

Survivors include sons, Alan Pfeiffer and wife Vicki of Auburn, WA, Bruce Pfeiffer and wife Debbie of Swanville, Lynn Pfeiffer and wife Sharon of Kent, WA and Lyle Pfeiffer and wife Christine of Burtrum, MN; daughters, Sandy Wassall and husband Jim of Las Vegas, NV, Debbie Braegelmann and husband Stephen of Roy, WA, Pamela Farrow and husband Daniel of Burtrum and Karla Mueller and husband Rodney of Baxter, MN; brothers, Wallace Karstens and wife Helene of New Ulm, MN, Arnold Karstens of Spring Park, MN; sisters, Eva Kokesch and husband Harold of Spring Park, MN, Bernice Fischer and husband Eddie of Gibbon, MN, Marlene Albrecht and husband Warren of Mankato, MN and Delores Kokesch and husband Eddie of Gibbon; and, 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdell, on November 18, 1995, parents, three brothers, Everett, Orval and Henry Karstens, Jr.

Pallbearers were Robert Mueller, Kevin, Steven and Michelle Pfeiffer, Mathew Farrow and Nancy Ludewig.

Marie Doucette
Marie Alvina Doucette, age 85, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 14, 1998, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held October 17, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial was in Immanuel Cemetery in Swanville, MN.

Marie Alvina Doucette was born June 14, 1913, in Culdrum Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Fredrick and Mary (Rahn) Axel. She grew up in Culdrum Township and attended Culdrum Township Country School #60. She was united in marriage to Clarence Doucette on September 20, 1947, in Little Falls, MN. The couple made their home in the Little Falls area. She worked many different types of jobs in the Little Falls area. Clarence passed away in 1969. Marie continued living in the Little Falls area. In the fall of 1982, Marie entered the Lutheran Care Center where she resided until her death. Marie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Marv Axel and wife Pat of Coon Rapids, MN, Eugene Doucette and wife Julie of Hutchinson, MN, Dan Doucette and wife Nancy of Little Falls; daughters, Darlene Leuthold and husband Steve of Lawrence, KS, Betty Perieff and husband Boris of Foster City, CA; grandchildren, Tammy, Michael, Eric, Micahel, Rachel and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Casandra, Desiree and Spencer; great-great-grandchildren, Gage and Kaitlyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; brothers, Ernest, Otto, Arthur, Ed and Herbert Axel; sister, Erma Hanson and three infant children.

Pallbearers were Michael Doucette, Eric Leuthold, Kevin Snow, Scott Snow, Tammy Schmidt and Rachel Doucette.

Laurette D. Edin
Laurette Dessie Edin, age 95, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died October 16, 1998, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held October 19, at the First United Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Richard Celley officiating. Burial was in the Wadena City Cemetery in Wadena, MN.

Laurette D. Edin was born July 17, 1903, in Foxhome, MN. As a young girl, her family lived in Foxhome, but later moved to Staples, MN, where she atended and graduated from Staples High School. After high school, Laurette attended and graduated from Normal Teachers Training at Staples. In later years, she received her teaching degree from St. Cloud State Teachers College. She taught school for 20 years in the rural schools around the Staples and Riverton, MN areas. Laurette was united in marriage to Dewey G. Edin on December 22, 1924. Together they made their home in Wadena County, rural Staples area, where they farmed for 35 years. After retiring from farming, Laurette and Dewey made their summer home in Bay Lake, MN and wintered in Mesa, AZ. Dewey passed away on March 6, 1983. In 1985 Laurette moved to Little Falls and lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Ivan Sanders and, on March 5, 1995, she became a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls where she resided until her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Deerwood, MN.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Sanders and husband Ivan of Little Falls; son, Glenn Edin and wife Phyllis of Owatonna, MN; son-in-law, Arlen Bartels of Deerwood, MN; sister-in-law, Emma Edin of Orono, MN; grandchildren, Maureen Nelson, Dr. Adrian Sanders, Kent Sanders, Scott Edin, Pamela Murphy, Debra Brady, Daniel Bartels, DeAnn Hahn and David Bartels; 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey, on March 6, 1983; daughter, Ione J. Bartels on November 17, 1994, and a great-grandson, Bryan Edin.

Casketbearers were her grandchildren.

Lenora M. Pietz
Lenora Margaret Pietz, age 84, a resident of Motley, MN, died October 15, 1998, at the Greater Staples Care Center.

Funeral services were held October 19 at First Lutheran Church in Pillager, MN, with Reverend James Almquist officiating. Burial followed in Wildwood Cemetery in Pillager.

Lenora was born June 4, 1914, in Jamestown, ND, to the late James and Johanna (Buskness) Fornshell. She grew up and attended school at Buffalo, MN, and later moved to Osseo, MN, and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on February 22, 1931. She moved to the Pillager area and married Emil Pietz on October 18, 1933. The couple farmed many years in the Bridgeman, MN, area. They later moved into the town of Pillager where Lenora worked at area resorts for many years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Pillager, the Sunshine Club and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In her later years, she moved to Motley and lived at Sunny Pines. In May, 1995, she moved to the Greater Staples Care Center where she lived until her death.

Lenora is survived by two brothers, Bert Fornshell of Pillager and Raymond Fornshell of Portland, OR; three sisters, Alta Loucks of Troutdale, OR, and Ida and Betty Farber of Motley and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Viola Corner and Leona Barrett and four brothers, Darold, Leonard, Charles and Curtis.

Casketbearers were Brad Farber, Eugene Pietz, Randy Fornshell, Jerry Fornshell, Ronald Corner, Mick Farber and Jeff Farber.

Honorary casketbearers were Terry Farber, Arthur Farber, Charles Hanson, Scott Mudgett and William Corner, as well as her grandnieces and grandnephews.

Eugene Weber
Eugene Arnold Weber, age 65, a resident of Ripley Township, MN, died October 18, 1998, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial was held October 21 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN, with Rev. Harold J. Kost officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN.

Eugene was born April 28, 1933, in Sleepy Eye, MN, to the late George and Monica (Lang) Weber. He moved with his family to Ripley Township as a young child where he attended District #42 school until the fourth grade. Eugene then attended and graduated from Little Falls High School with the class of 1953. He entered the Minnesota National Guard in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Eugene returned to the family farm where he resided until his death. Eugene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and American Legion Post #46 in Little Falls. He was an avid fisherman and deerhunter.

Survivors include his brother, Robert and wife, Audrey Weber of Fort Ripley; sister, Lois Olson of Randall, MN; sister-in-law, Carol Weber of Brooklyn Center, MN; five nieces and three nephews, six great-nieces and three great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin Weber, infant sister, Betty Jean.

Pallbearers were Randy Lemm, Stanley Morgan, Joe Rodriguez, Richard Schilling, Paul Schilling and Owen Olson.

Lloyd Johnson
Lloyd Robert Johnson, age 71, a resident of Cushing, MN, died October 16, 1998, near Wimbleton, ND.

Funeral services were held October 19 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall, MN, with Father Patrick Riley officiating. Burial was in the Scandia Valley Cemetery.

Lloyd was born July 9, 1927, in St. Paul, MN, son of the late Carl J. and Evelyn M. (Milz) Johnson. He attended school at Patrick Henry High School. Lloyd was united in marriage to Carol E. Carlson on April 12, 1948, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Minneapolis where Lloyd owned and operated Lloyd’s 66 Service Station until 1971. In 1971, they moved to their current residence on Lake Alexander, near Cushing. Lloyd owned and operated the Super America in Sauk Centre, MN, until 1976. He then became a realtor, and for the past 10 years has been the owner/broker of Rainbow Realty in Lincoln, MN. Lloyd was a member of the Lincoln Businessmen’s Association. Lloyd enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; a son, Michael (Donna) Johnson of St. Cloud, MN; a grandson, Matthew Johnson of St. Cloud and a sister, Elaine Salsbury of St. Anthony, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arthur and a sister, Lillian Hanson.

Honorary casketbearers were Richard Nelson, William Morrow, Thomas Ralph, Robert Myklebust, James Iverson, James Phillips and Roger Salsbury.
