Alice F. Pantzke

Alice F. Pantzke, age 93, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died December 30, 1997, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held January 2, 1998 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Kent Garlinghouse officiating. Burial was in the Culdrum Cemetery in Culdrum Township, Morrison County, MN.

Alice F. Pantzke was born August 28, 1904, in Parker Township, Morrison County, to the late Charles M. and Carolyn L. (Running) Johnson. She grew up in Parker Township and attended Culdrum School. She was united in marriage to Edwin F. Pantzke on August 9, 1924 in Culdrum Township. The couple resided in Culdrum Township and farmed. They retired in 1948 and moved to Little Falls. She worked at the Lutheran Senior Citizens Home in Little Falls as head cook. Alice was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls and the Variety Garden Club. She loved oil painting, garage sales, nature, was an avid bowler, proud Mom, grandma, great-grandma, and a good friend.

Survivors include sons and daughters, Wally Pantzke and wife Marion of Cushing, MN, Donna Johnson and husband Hap of Little Falls, Margie Backowski and husband Philip of Flensburg, MN, Yvonne Kalahar and husband Lyn of Andover, MN; 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin on January 24, 1973; son, Edwin Jr.; six brothers, three sisters, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Casketbearers were Steve and Tom Pantzke, Bill and Marc Backowski, Bradley Johnson and Blaine Kalahar.

Tammy Jo Bast-Arnold

Tammy Jo Bast-Arnold, age 32, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died December 30, 1997 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls. Graveside services were held January 3, 1998 at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls.

Tammy Jo Bast-Arnold was born September 21, 1965 in Seaside, CA to Lila Bast and Austin DaBorjock. As a child she lived in Harrisburg, PA and in Big Lake, MN. At the age of 12 years she moved to Little Falls where she lived until her death. She attended school in Little Falls and later received her GED in Pennsylvania. She worked in the Deli of G’s Super Value of Little Falls but her main profession was child day care. She was united in marriage to Charles William Arnold on April 1, 1990 in Little Falls. After their marriage the couple lived in Baumholder, Germany for three years, later returning to Little Falls where they made their home. She was a member of Faith, Hope & Love Fellowship Church in Little Falls. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crafts and line dancing. She loved children, writing children’s stores and poems, giving parties and doing special things for her nieces and nephews, often taking them on special trips.

Survivors include her loving husband, Charles; mother, Lila Bast of Little Falls; father, Austin DaBorjock and companion Linnie Tousignant of Browerville, MN; brother, Troy Bast and companion Jodi Fleischhacker of Brainerd, MN; sister, Michelle Weekley and husband Stewart of Randall, MN; step-brother, Danny Tousignant of Browerville; nieces and nephews, Heather, Treasure, Duke and Benjamin Weekley all of Randall, Alex Bast of Brainerd and grandmother, Dorothy Kemp of Big Lake.

She was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Adam Bast in August of 1982, and grandparents, Silas Kemp, Clarence Bast and June Vincent.

Casketbearers were Ryan Lockwood, Scott and Terry Trom, James and Scott Current, Brian and David Heiling.

Kenneth Olson
Kenneth Pehr Olson, age 77, a resident of rural Richardson Township in Morrison County, MN, died December 29, 1998 at his home. He had been ill for some time.

A Memorial Service was held January 2, 1999, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman, MN, with Pastor Lynn Broughton officiating.

Kenneth Olson was born on May 18, 1921, to Swedish immigrant parents, Thea and Pehr Olson. They lived on a small farm in Mound, MN, and then moved to South Minneapolis where Kenneth grew up. He went to South High School and Dunwoody Institute and became a cadet at the Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA upon entering the Air Force. He served his country as a bombardier during World War II, serving in Italy briefly just before the war ended. On June 15, 1946, he married Jennie Wall of rural Richardson Township. They were married at the Ak-Sar-Ben Gardens in Aitkin, MN. From this marriage, four children were born: Joyce, Bruce, Paul and Gordon. Kenneth graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mechanical Engineer-ing. He joined Sperry Univac (later Unisys) where he played a critical role in many early space programs. His team was instrumental in the program that took the first pictures of Mars, which helped create and implement the program that fueled mid-air tankers and was significantly involved in the windows of re-entry programs for the early space flights. He was a wonderful husband and father and also served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher. He never missed a track meet nor a wrestling match and spent countless hours accompanying his ski racer son, Paul, to races in the midwestern and western states, then froze on the top of the slopes as a race monitor. He was a modest and humble man, never touting his own accomplishments. His family is grateful for his life and also grateful to the Lord who took Kenneth to be with Him now, free from pain and longing to be home.

He will be sorely missed by his wife of 52 years, Jennie Wall Olson of Platte Lake, MN; his daughter, Joyce Schweig and her husband Larry and children Lars and wife Jodi (children Riley and Matthew) of Chicago, IL; also surviving are three sons, Bruce Olson of Elk River, MN (his children, Gunnar and Andrea) and his fiancée Linda and sons Kyle and Garret; Paul Olson of Chanhassen, MN (and his children, Spencer and Jennifer) and his friend, Ila (and her children Anneka and Taylon); and Gordon and his wife Debbie of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rauland Miller
Rauland S. Miller, age 91, a resident of rural Pierz, MN, died December 29, 1998, at State Highway 23, Milaca, MN.

Funeral services were January 2, 1999, at First Presbyterian Church in Foley, MN. The Rev. Allen Jergenson officiated. Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Morrill, MN.

Rauland Miller was born December 15, 1907, in Morrill Township of Morrison County, MN, to William and Maud (Scott) Miller. He married Minnie Presler June 19, 1930, in Little Falls and had lived north of Morrill where he farmed and built roads with horse and wagon. The couple divorced. He married Opal Dray May 3, 1943, in Red Wing, MN. The couple lived in Minneapolis, MN and he worked at Swift Meat Packing before moving to Morrill Township, rural Morrison County, where the couple lived until the present. During that time he had worked as a farmer and as a trucker.

Survivors include his sons and daughters, June and Malcolm Cross, Foley, Bernice and George Bazey, Rogers, AR, Vernon, Greene, RI, William and Lottie, Pierz, Russell of Faribault, MN; stepdaughter, Beverly and Robert Voigt, Sauk Rapids, MN; brother, Raymond, Foley; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carolyn Beck and Charlotte Winscher, two grandchildren and one great-grand-child.

Opal B. Miller
Opal B. Miller, age 86, a resident of rural Pierz, MN, died December 29, 1998, at Hwy. 23, Milaca.

Funeral services were January 2, 1999, at First Presbyterian Church, Foley, with the Rev. Allen Jergenson officiating. Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Morrill, MN.

Opal Miller was born April 13, 1912, in Missouri Valley, IA to Andrew and Liccie (Henry) Dray. She married Rauland Miller May 3, 1943, in Red Wing, MN. She grew up in rural Benton County. The couple lived in Minneapolis, MN, and later moved to Morrill Township, rural Morrison County.

Survivors include her sons and daughters, Beverly and Robert Voigt, Sauk Rapids, MN, William and Lottie of Pierz, Russell of Faribault, MN; stepchildren, June and Malcolm Cross of Foley, Bernice and George Bazey of Rogers, AR, Vernon, Greene, RI; 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Floyd Dray and sisters, Gladys Larson and Ida Andersen.

Fay M. Ringwelski
Fay M. Ringwelski, age 86, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died December 29, 1998, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held January 2, 1999, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Kent Garlinghouse officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Browerville, MN, at a later time.

Fay M. Ringwelski was born February 8, 1912, in Decater, IN, to the late John and Manie (Meyers) Ward. She moved with her family as a young girl to the Browerville area where she attended school. Fay was united in marriage to Harry Johnson on February 8, 1930. The couple moved to the Little Falls area; the couple later divorced. Fay began working in the St. Paul Store in Little Falls. In 1937 she began working for J.C. Penney in Little Falls, working there for 29 years. She retired in 1976. She was married to Thomas Ringwelski in June, 1942. Thomas passed away in March, 1992. Fay continued living in Little Falls until her death. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of the Garden Variety Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty J. Nieman and husband Bill of Little Falls; sisters, Edith Ward of Seattle, WA, Fern Haas and husband Paul of Camp Hill, PA; brother, Glenn Ward and wife Frieda of Alexandria, MN; granddaughters, Wendy Rutz and husband Dave of Little Falls, Barb Reitz and husband Bob of Melbourne, IA: grandsons, Mike Nieman and wife Renee of Little Falls, Mark Nieman and wife Sue of Stillwater, MN; great-grandchildren, Amy Reitz, Bobby Reitz, Brad Rutz, Chad Rutz, Cortney Nieman, Jason Nieman, Michelle Nieman and Kelli Nieman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers, Harry and Bryce Ward.

Pallbearers were the grandchildren.

Stephen Christle
Stephen Christle, age 47, of Rice, MN, died January 1, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were held January 4 at the Dingmann Family Funeral Chapel in Sauk Rapids, MN, with Rev. David Maciej officiating. Burial was at a later date at Immaculate Concep-tion Cemetery in Rice.

Stephen K. Christle was born March 13, 1951, in Little Falls, MN, to Arthur and Dorothy (Maurer) Christle. He lived most of his life in the Rice area and worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Rice American Legion Post 473.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy of Rice; brother, Arthur “Butch” Christle of Bird Island, MN, and sister, Carol Bouquet of Frankford, IL.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Harold Trick
Harold Trick, age 72, a resident of Fawn Lake Township, Todd County, died December 31, 1998, in Staples, MN.

Funeral services were held January 5, 1999, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples, with Rev. Dr. Randy Taber officiating. Burial was in Moran Riverside Cemetery, Moran Township.

Harold Trick was born October 29, 1926, in Fawn Lake Township to Gustave and Hilda (Jensen) Trick. He married Dolly Kienlen on June 15, 1948, in Staples. Harold was born in Fawn Lake Township and lived there his entire life. For many years he worked with the ASC and also served on the board. He enjoyed playing cards and traveling.

Survivors include his sons, Peter Trick of Little Falls, MN, and David Trick of Minneapolis, MN; and brother, Kenneth and Lois Trick of Nashwauk, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dolly; brother Vernon and one infant brother.

Casketbearers were Dale Christensen, Arthur Trout, A.J. Kluver, Mike Flan, Ken Jensen III and Kenneth E. Jensen.
