Joseph Hubner
Joseph Hubner, age 84, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Swanville, MN, died March 5, 1999, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was March 8 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville with Father Thomas Meyer officiating. Burial was at St. John’s Parish Cemetery.

Joseph was born June 17, 1914, to Joseph B. and Anna (Maciej) Hubner in Glyndon, MN. As a child, Joseph moved to Little Falls and Royalton, MN. Joseph did logging in the Blackduck area and drove milk truck in Valley City North Dakota for several years. He later moved to the Swanville area where he had farmed for 50 years. Joseph loved farm life and to make wood. He also liked to work in the church. He is a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Swanville.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Hubner of Elk River, MN; son, James of Bloomington, MN; daughters, Kathryn Gessell of Little Falls, MN, and Maryanne Hubner of Long Prairie, MN; brothers, Peter Hubner of Sobieski, MN, John Hubner of Sartell, MN, and Simon Hubner of Bloomington, MN; sisters, Helena Schneider of San Diego, CA, Anna Wielenski of Olivia, MN, Sophia Peterson of Missoula, MT, and Rita Willard of Brainerd, MN; three grandchildren, David, Megan and Jayme and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary, Margie and Catherine.

Casketbearers were Jim Kraska, Don Kraska, Ron Hubner, John Schuett, Bob Blenkush and Rick Gutormson.

Honorary casketbearers were old friends, neighbors and members of St. John’s parish.

Clarence Proper
Clarence W. Proper, age 73, a resident of Brooklyn Park, MN, died.
Services were held March 13 at the Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park. Interment was at the Glen Hoven Cemetery.

Clarence was a longtime member of Mason Local #2.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; aunt, Lula and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by brother, Vernon H. Proper.

Arlene Reed
Arlene Reed, age 39, a resident of Avon, MN, formerly of Holdingford, MN, died March 9, 1999.
Services were held March 13 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Arlene Reed was born June 24, 1959, in St. Cloud, MN, to Leander and Louise (Reischl) Bieniek. She married Raymond Reed July 25, 1987, at the St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. She was a member of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. She worked as a home care assistant at the Das Goldene Wohnheim/For Elderly in New Munich, MN.

Survivors include her parents from Holdingford; husband of Avon; brothers and sisters, Joan Pilarski of St. Joseph, MN, Kenneth of Rice, MN, Marlene of Holdingford, Mary Jo Klein of Holdingford, Ron of Monticello, MN, and Dan of Holdingford and grandmother, Julia Bieniek of Opole, MN.

Cecilia Buchele
Cecilia Buchele, age 94, a resident of Milaca, MN, passed away March 10, 1999, at Milaca.
Funeral services were held March 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milaca, with Father Richard John officiating.

Burial was in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Hillman.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Severyn W. Jedlicki
Severyn W. Jedlicki, age 83, a resident of Foley, MN, died March 27, 1999, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral services were held March 30 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Foley, with Father Alfred Heltemes officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Severyn Jedlicki was born July 28, 1915, in Alberta Township, rural Benton County, MN, to Peter and Nettie (Chmielewski) Jedlicki. He married Alice Stellmach November 27, 1940, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill. He had farmed in the rural Foley area from 1940 to 1968. From 1968 until his retirement in 1977, he owned and operated Sev’s Resort on Lower Mission Lake in Merrifield, MN. The couple moved back to Foley in 1982. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Foley. He loved to fish and hunt.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Foley; sons and daughters, Duane and Sherri of Spring Lake Park, MN, Eugene and Jackie of Mountain Home, AR, Darlene and Gordon Jurek of Foley, Lloyd and JoAnn of Rice, MN, Sharleen and Michael Hanson of Brainerd, MN; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; sisters and brothers, Cecilia Tadych of Foley, Tracy Spiczka of Minneapolis, MN and Adam of Rice.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Bielejski.

Florence Fleischhacker
Florence Marie Fleischhacker, age 77, a resident of Brainerd, MN, died March 28, 1999, at her granddaughter’s home in Ripley Township.

Mass of Christian Burial was held March 31 at St. Mathias Catholic Church with Father Paul Fruth officiating. Burial was in St. Mathias Cemetery.

Florence was born July 3, 1921, in Michigan to Vernon and Elizabeth (Falensckek) Baer. She was a member of St. Mathias Church and St. Andrews Church, the Christian Mothers, Foster Grandparents for 20 years and a volunteer for the senior center.

Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Sever of Tempe, AZ and Donna and Gerald Pint of Little Falls, MN; sons, LeRoy and Helga Fleischhacker of Brainerd and Donald and Barb Fleischhacker of Fort Ripley, MN; daughter-in-law, Margaret Fleischhacker; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Baer of Wisconsin; sisters, Rosemary Halbur and Dorothy Gay, both of Wisconsin; stepmother, Lillian Baer of Brainerd; half brother, Frank Baer and four half sisters, Carol Jean, Janet, JoAnn and Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her husband George; son, James; parents; three brothers, Sonny, Raymond and Donald Baer; sister, Barbara Baer; grandson John Fleischhacker; great-grandson James Nuttbrock, Jr.; and, great-granddaughter, Darlene Nuttbrock.

Jeanette Davison
Jeanette I. Davison, age 66, a resident of Long Prairie, MN, died March 27, 1999, in the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN.

Funeral services were held March 30 in the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Clarissa, MN, with Rev. Alden Backman officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Long Prairie.

Jeanette was the daughter of Wesley and Mary (Brooks) Akin. She grew up in the Long Prairie area. After her marriage to Arthur Davison on May 5, 1956, in the Reynolds Baptist Church, rural Long Prairie, her husband served in the Air Force, and they lived in Duluth, Panama City, FL, and Austin TX. Retiring in 1972, they moved to the family farm, Reynolds Township, rural Long Prairie. She enjoyed traveling, and during that time collected spoons and cups. She also enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and her family. She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Clarissa, and the Church Ladies Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; two daughters and spouses, Laura Ann (Jeffery) Merrill, Swanville, MN; and, Cynthia Jean (Craig) Cox, Germany; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honorary pallbearers were Anita Littlejohn, Melissa and Kimberly Lyon, Cory and Rebecca Merrill; and the casketbearers were Norman and Charles Larson, Bill Pentz, Dale Merrill, Jason Lyon and Eugene Reed.

Harry Larson
Harry George Larson, age 79, a resident of Cushing, MN, died on March 23, 1999, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Services were held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Clarissa, MN on March 27.

Harry was born to George and Jennie Larson north of Staples, MN, in Thomastown Township on May 28, 1919. He married Delores Huebner on October 28, 1942, at Old Wadena. Harry was inducted into the Army in 1942 at Fort Snelling, MN, where he started his military training. He continued his Army service in Colorado and Alabama, and then traveled overseas for the European Campaign during World War II, where he earned several Distinguished Service Medals. His military occupational specialty was fuel truck driver for Patton’s Army. Harry was very proud of his Army service and his contribution to his country. In April 1946, Harry and Delores purchased the farm where they currently reside. Harry was the general construction foreman of Minnesota’s first taconite plant located in Aurora, MN, for seven years before returning to the Cushing area to farm and run a salvage business. Harry enjoyed telling his joke of the day, politics, restoring old cars, gardening, keeping current with daily national news, and loving his wife of 56 years. His greatest enjoyment was spending time talking and visiting with his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Delores; five daughters and five sons, Dedra and Bill Knosalla of Mound, MN, Dee Ann and James Gibbons of Bloomington, MN, Kathleen and Richard Hanych of Cushing, Melodie and James Sudbeck of Browerville, MN, Tammy Larson of Long Prairie, MN, Garry Larson of Savage, MN, Steven Larson and Suzie Blais of Cushing, Mark and Trudy Larson of Little Falls, MN, Michael and Kathy Larson of rural Browerville and Jody and Mary Larson of Buffalo, MN; other survivors include two sisters, Edith Heino of Seattle, WA and Adeline (Forest) Knapp of Dallas, OR; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were grandsons Scott Knosalla, Jamie Gibbons, Joshua Larson, Michael Sudbeck, Jesse Hanych and Joseph Larson. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons Jeffrey Knosalla, Jon Knosalla, Andrew Sudbeck, Patrick Gibbons, Dustin Larson, Nathan Larson, Sheldon Larson - Peavey, and Christopher Larson.
