Gordon Ostrom
Gordon A. Ostrom, age 72, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 23, 1999, at his home in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held April 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls, with military rites conducted by Little Falls VFW Post 1112.

Gordon was born November 25, 1926, in Forest Lake, MN, to the late Harold and Gladys Larson. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN. He was united in marriage to Patricia Statema on May 24, 1958, in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Minneapolis, Rochester, MN, and in Little Falls since 1971. Gordon worked at Camp Ripley for 17 years. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of Little Falls VFW Post 1112.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ostrom of Little Falls; sons, Bruce Hanson and wife Shirley of Crystal, MN, Brad Hanson and wife Colleen of Eagan, MN, and Jeff Ostrom of Jamestown, ND; daughters, Debby Heger and husband Stephen of Downing, WI, Melissa Whiting and husband Jay of Shakopee, MN, and Becky Gosiak and husband Joe of Otsego, MN; sister, Karen McCarthy of Little Falls; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honorary pallbearers were David Williamsen and nieces and nephews.

Casketbearers were Terry McClain, Brian Dalen, Earl Williamsen, Gary Statema and Kevin Statema.

Mary Super
Mary Lorraine Super, age 92, a resident of Flensburg, MN, died April 22, 1999, at her residence.

Mass of Christian Burial was held April 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg with Father David Super officiating and Father Tony Kroll concelebrating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mary was born January 9, 1907, in Benld, IL, to Mike and Anna (Zupko) Koval. Her family moved to a farm near Flensburg when she was a school girl. She married Simon J. Super of Flensburg on November 26, 1935. They lived there most of their lives with Simon operating the Flensburg Hardware Store and serving as postmaster. Mary was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Simon of Flensburg; son, Arlin and wife Marcia of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Sheryl Super and Dan Super, both of Lakewood; two great-granddaughters, Jessie and Julia Super and sister, Anna Super of Flensburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Anna Koval and brother John Koval.

Gunda Skwira
Gunda M. ‘Connie’ Skwira, age 88, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Sobieski, MN, died March 26, 1999, at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held March 29 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski with Rev. David Maciej and Rev. Raymond Donnay officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Gunda M. ‘Connie’ Skwira was born July 15, 1910, in Swan River Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Thomas and Emma (Koziol) Rudolph. She grew up in Swan River Township and attended country school. Gunda was united in marriage to Paul J. Skwira on October 28, 1930, in St. Stanislaus Koska Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN. The couple farmed in rural Sobieski until Paul’s death in 1956. Connie continued living on the family farm. She worked as a sales clerk and bridal consultant at Loretta’s Dress Shop in Little Falls from 1953 until retiring in 1969 due to declining health. She strongly believed in the value of education and returned to school and received her G.E.D. in 1961 at the age of 51. Connie continued to reside in Sobieski until moving to Pine Grove Manor in Little Falls in 1983. In 1994, she moved to the Buckman Building in Little Falls. Connie became a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and crocheting. She crocheted afghans and teddy bears for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Connie was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski and served on the parish council, was church trustee and sang in the choir.

Survivors include sons, LeRoy Skwira and wife Mickey of South St. Paul, MN and Edwin Skwira and wife Doris of Little Falls; daughters, Margaret Novakoske of Sobieski, Patricia Virnig and husband Gerald of Little Falls and Rita Skwira of Little Falls; sisters, Justine Plakut and husband Leo of Milwaukee, WI, Ursala Thompson of Little Falls, Kathryn Maciej and husband Raymond of Bowlus, and Mary Kokett and husband Ben of Little Falls; brothers, Roman Rudolph and wife Dorothy of Little Falls, Dr. Thomas Rudolph and wife Dorothy of Rhinelander, WI and Dr. Victor Rudolph of Clearwater, FL; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1956, parents, brother, Frank Rudolph and a son-in-law, Arthur Novakoske.

Pallbearers were Gary and Tim Skwira, Larry and Jerry Novakoske, Paul and David Virnig, John Gustafson and Dean Schilling.

Helen Cash
Helen C. Cash, age 91, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died March 27, 1999, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.

Funeral services were held March 30 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Rev. Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Helen C. Cash was born December 19, 1907, in Sobieski, MN, to the late Paul and Victoria (Kanieski) Staneck. She grew up and attended school in Sobieski. Helen was united in marriage to Alfred ‘Lefty’ Cash on August 26, 1930, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. The couple resided in Little Falls most of their lives. Helen worked as a waitress at the Buckman Hotel for many years. In 1939, she was employed as a cook at the Pine Edge Inn in Little Falls, working for the Madden Brothers until retiring in 1981. Helen enjoyed baking, growing flowers, especially her African violets, and visiting with all her family. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls.

Survivors include her son, Donald Cash and wife Joan of Willmar, MN; daughter, Delores Rudek and husband Edmund of Little Falls; sisters, Julia Thielen of Little Falls, Susie Proper of Little Falls, Mary Stockburger of South St. Paul, MN, Elizabeth Schaffee and husband Sidney of Minnea-polis, MN, Florence Kapsner and husband Gilbert of Little Falls, Lorraine Furnstahl of St. Cloud, MN and Joann Theis and husband Louie of Little Falls; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, parents and sister, Agnes Trafas.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Pallbearers were great-grandchildren.

Robert Clear
Robert Clear, age 76, a resident of Upsala, MN, formerly of Brooklyn Center, MN, died November 16, 1998, at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home in Long Prairie, MN.
Funeral services were held November 20 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala with Pastor Alan Bray officiating. Burial was in the Parish Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Upsala American Legion Post #350 and St. Cloud V.F.W. Post #428.

Robert was born March 28, 1922, to James Walter and Edith (Osborn) Clear in Grey Eagle, MN. He was united in marriage to Elsie Ajax on December 20, 1942. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945. Robert was a member of the St. Cloud V.F.W. Post #428. He was employed as a welder for 32 years at Butler Manufacturing in southeast Minneapolis. Robert enjoyed fishing, bird watching, and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie, of Upsala, MN; son Bob Clear and wife Shirley of Holdingford, MN; son Jerry Clear of Laughlin, NV: son Don Clear and wife Gina of Upsala; daughter, Gloria Pazik and husband Mike of Upsala; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Ken Clear of Long Prairie; brothers Jim Clear and George Clear of Grey Eagle; sisters Mildred Lekberg of Swanville, MN, Pat Wittkop of White Bear Lake, MN, and Viola Johnson of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Harold, and sisters Francis, Joyce, and Dorothy.

Casketbearers were Troy Forystek, Scott Forystek, Heather Boecker, Robin Maciej, Robb Clear, Jeremy Pazik, Jay Pazik, Amy Clear, and Crystal Clear.

Honorary casketbearers were Jason, Andy, and Ashley Clear.

Myron Mohr
Myron Leo Mohr, age 71, passed away November 7, 1998, at his residence in Tavares, FL.

Funeral services were held November 12 at the Mille Lacs Funeral Home in Isle, MN. Burial was at the Motley Cemetery.

Myron was born July 21, 1927, in Mankato, MN.

Survivors include his mother, Louise Mohr, and his sister, Bethel Mohr Gadway (Ray), both of Isle, and his son, David (Dorothy), a manager at Caterpillar, Inc., currently living abroad in Grenoble, France. Myron also leaves two nephews, Paul (Ethelyn) and Mark (Karen) Gadway, and two nieces, Jean Gadway Mueller (Tom) and Marie Gadway Lindbeck (Joe).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Morrow Mohr, of Motley, in 1964, and by his father, August Mohr, in 1972.

Joseph Gwost
Joseph Gwost, age 89, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died November 21, 1998, at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was held November 23 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN, with Father Harold Kost officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Joseph was born February 17, 1909, in Sobieski, MN, to John and Victoria (Gwosdz) Gwost. He grew up in the area, attended school there and remained working the family farm. He was united in marriage to Marian M. Sobiech on November 26, 1936. The couple resided in the Sobieski area where they continued to farm until 1954. They moved to Belle Prairie and Joseph was employed for the State of Minnesota Military Affairs Camp Ripley Facilities until he retired in 1975. Joseph enjoyed his family and grandchildren, landscaping, gardening, fishing and deer hunting. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie. He was very active with all church group organizations such as the Holy Name Society and New Horizons. Joseph was also involved with many church and grounds renovation projects.

Survivors include his two sons, Gerald “Gerry” and wife Cathy of Little Falls and Dennis and wife Joyce of Little Falls; six grandchildren, Rusty, Tami, Teri, Chris, Andy and Amanda; three brothers, Edward Gwost of Lansing, MI, and David and George Gwost of Little Falls; four sisters, Tec Gardner of Spring Valley, CA, Mary Ciminski of Lindwood, WA, Rose Ringwelski of Center Line, MI, and Esther Stanek of Little Falls and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marian in 1984; four brothers, Frank of Flensburg, MN, John of Battle Creek, MI, Andrew of Montana and Walter of Little Falls and one sister, Louise of St. Cloud, MN.

Casketbearers were Danny Dosh, Steve Lundorff, Michael Plante, Reed Rudquist, Ron Nelson and Gary Fanjoy.
