Clarence Carlson
Clarence “Toby” Carlson, age 76, died February 20, 1999, at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services were February 23 at the First Lutheran Church in Warren, MN. Military services were conducted by the Warren American Legion. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Warren.

Clarence Leroy Carlson was born on October 8, 1922, in Svea Township, Kittson County, MN, the son of Ed and Minnie (Lindgren) Carlson. He was raised in the Strandquist and Karlstad, MN, area. He attended country school. From 1944 to 1946, he served with the United States Navy. On October 20, 1948, he was united in marriage to Joyce E. Borsvold in Red Lake Falls, MN. They lived at Strandquist and Kennedy, MN before moving to Warren, MN, in 1959. He worked as a mechanic for Massey-Harris in Kennedy and Warren. From 1967 - 1980, he worked for the Marshall County Highway Department as a mechanic. After retiring, Toby worked for Bob Peterson on a farm for ten years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Warren American Legion and Warren Volunteer Fire Department. Toby enjoyed fixing farm machinery, driving beet truck and having coffee with the guys.

Survivors include his wife Joyce and two daughters, Sandra (Kevin) Dux of Buxton, ND, and Lynnae (Dan) Gilder of Little Falls, MN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jason Gilder, Ronda Dux, Jeffery Gilder, Peter Dux, Joni Gilder and Sara Dux; three sisters, Luella Sjostrand of Lancaster, MN, Fern (Virgil) Froemke of Buckley, WA and Yvonne Twede of Moses Lake, WA; two brothers, Oscar of Twin Falls, ID and Gerald (Mary) of Warren; two sisters-in-law, Leona Carlson of Kennedy and Marian Carlson of Plymouth, MN and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Reinold and Harvey, and an infant sister.

Barbara Kestner
Barbara Ann Kestner, age 38, a resident of Randall, MN, died February 20, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were held February 24 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, with Father Al Quade officiating. Burial followed in the St. James Parish Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Kestner was born on March 24, 1960, in Hennepin County, MN. She grew up with her parents Jerome and Cecilia (Andres) Kempenich in Randall where she attended grade school. In 1978 she graduated from the Little Falls High School. For a year she attended the Staples Vo-Tech School before working at a variety of jobs around the area. On October 28, 1989, she married Charles Kestner at St. James Catholic Church. Most recently she has been working for Larson Boats in Little Falls, MN. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and the Randall Lioness.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; her parents, Jerome and Cecilia Kempenich of Randall; four brothers, Robert (Cheryl) Kempenich of New York Mills, MN, Joe Kempenich of Wadena, MN, John (Bev) Kempenich of Randall, and Larry Kempenich of Hutchinson, MN; four sisters, Joanne (David) Rausch of Long Prairie, MN, Mary (Perry) Dykes of Byron, MN, Carol (Todd) Conrad of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Joyce (Brian) Ringwelski of Mound, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her grandparents preceded her in death.

Esther E. Johnson
Esther E. Johnson, 96, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, died February 16, 1999, in Minneapolis, on June 2.
Funeral services were held February 19 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala, MN. Interment was in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Esther was born June 2, 1902, in Elmdale Township, MN.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Lysdahl (Milton); and a sister, Ellen Soteroplos; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Walfred Johnson.

Mark Bonniwell
Mark Anthony Bonniwell, age 40, died February 20, 1999.
Mass of Christian Burial was held February 24 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. Interment was at Fort Snelling.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; sons, Patrick and Christopher; daughter, Paulette, all of Little Falls, MN; mother, Susan; father, Larry (MaryAnn); sisters, Theresa Lynn (Joe) Rigby and Toni (David) Katz; brother, Joseph (Mary) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa.

Stefania Kadolph
Stefania M. Kadolph, age 31, a resident of Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Little Falls, MN, died February 22, 1999, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, IA, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral Mass was held February 27 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Little Falls.

Stefania was born March 16, 1967, in Little Falls, the daughter of Thorsten B. and Mina R. (Fabrizzi) Lindquist. She married Joe J. Kadolph in Bettendorf on August 1, 1998. She was employed as a sales clerk in the hardware department of Menards in Davenport since 1996. Stefania was devoted to her family, loved her home, enjoyed antique shopping, stock car races and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, Joe; daughters, Jessica Kadolph and Jamie Kadolph, both of Waterloo, IA; mother, Mina Lindquist of Little Falls; father and stepmother, Thorsten Lindquist and Theresa R. Ringwelski of Little Falls; sister, Cristina Stiller of Little Falls; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Louise Lindquist of Lakeville, MN; grandmother, Frances Lindquist; nieces, Tanya Monti and Amy Monti, both of Lakeville and Daniela Stiller and Carlie Stiller, both of Little Falls and her parents-in-law, Diane and Karroll Kurtz of Coralville, IA, and Jim and JoAnn Kadolph of Eldora, IA.

Casketbearers were Grace Hayden, Barb Guck, Judie Stevenson, Michelle Linhart, Sara Graham, Maria Payne, Julie Krueger and Margurite Cofell.

Esther E. Johnson
Esther E. Johnson, 96, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, died February 16, 1999, in Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held February 19 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala, MN. Interment was in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Esther was born June 2, 1902, in Elmdale Township, MN.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Lysdahl (Milton); and a sister, Ellen Soteroplos; and three grandchildren.

Gerald Kuchinski
Gerald Kuchinski, age 57, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died February 21, 1999, at North Memorial Hospital in Minnea-polis, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held February 25, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was at the parish cemetery.

Gerald was born on June 16, 1941, to Leo and Mary (Backowski) Kuchinski. He used to work for Eich Motors as a car mechanic and then worked for Alumacraft in Minneapolis.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Kuchinski of Little Falls; children Cindy Theel of Paynesville, MN; and Danny, Tina, and Melissia Kuchinski of Little Falls; brothers and sisters, Robert Kuchinski of Swanville, MN, David Kuchinski of Sauk Rapids, MN, Fred Kuchinski of Deer Lodge, MT, Carol Reaser of Columbus, OH, Mary Lou Sobieck of Rice, MN, Joe Kuchinski of Little Falls, Patricia Waltman of Little Falls and Donald Kuchinski of Little Falls; and, grandchildren Stephani and Bryson Theel, Shelby Joseph Kuchinski, and Bo Robert Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Kuchinski, his grandparents, and grandson Joshua Steven Theel.

Casketbearers were Robert, Donald, Joe, David, Fred, and Danny Kuchinski.

Douglas Andres
Douglas Philip Andres, age 43, a resident of Big Lake, MN, and formerly of Randall, MN, died January 19, 1999, at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held February 23 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall with the Rev. Al Quade, Rev. Harold Kost, Rev. Richard Wey and Rev. Nick Dressen concelebrating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Doug was born March 1, 1955, in Little Falls, MN, to Louis and Mary (Danko) Andres. He grew up in Randall and attended Dr. S.G. Knight Elementary School and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1973. Following high school, Doug lived and worked as a carpet installer in Blaine, MN. He was united in marriage to Linda Mae Sharon on August 16, 1980, at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. After their marriage, Doug and Linda lived in Blaine until 1981 when they moved to Big Lake where he resided until his death. Doug was a self-employed carpet installer. He loved fishing, hunting and, most importantly, cherished being with his wife and three children.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; son, Matthew; daughters, Amber and Tera, all at home; parents, Louis and Mary Andres of Randall; brothers, Terry and wife Irene of Missoula, MT, George and wife Jean of Mounds View, MN, Mike and wife Linda of Blaine and Louis of Minnetonka, MN; sisters, Colette Blake and husband David of Napa, CA, Gloria Thornborrow and husband Tom of Randall, Kimberly Samler and husband Robert, Jr., of Randall and Linda Willis and husband Drew of Benicia, CA; godchildren, Kimberly Salber of Browerville, MN, Dylan Thornborrow of Randall and Tonya Bellamy of Blaine; godparents, Terry Andres of Missoula, MT, and Rose Ann Bengston of Golden Valley, MN, and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie, on December 16, 1992; infant sister, Mary; infant brothers, Paul and John and grandparents, George and Anna Danko and Frank and Anna Andres.

Casketbearers were Mike Chapman, Jim Scepurek, Gary Bellamy, Craig Rye, Greg Spar and Rich Sorem.

Louise Garecht
Louise Eich Garecht died February 14, 1999, in LaGrange, IL.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on February 20 at the Chapel at Bethlehem Woods in LaGrange Park. Interment was in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Sheridan, WY.

Louise was born on March 5, 1913, in Little Falls, MN, to Mary and Joseph Eich. She attended St. Benedict’s College and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1935. She worked as a dietician in Rockford, IL, Duluth, MN, and St. Paul, MN, before moving to Brainerd, MN, where she was employed at St. Joseph Hospital from 1951-1957. Lousie then spent four years in St. Petersburg, FL. In 1961 she moved to Sheridan where she met her husband, George, and married in 1963. After 12 happy years of marriage and George’s death in 1975, Louise moved back to Minnesota and settled in the Minneapolis area. Her last year was spent at Bethlehem Woods Retirement Center in LaGrange Park where she continued to make new friends and enjoy visits with family. Louise enjoyed life, traveled much and had many friends throughout the country.

Survivors include stepdaughter, Judy Moore; grandchildren, Bryan (Lori) and Tom (Jody) Moore; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Ashley Moore and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents and siblings, Frank (Olive), Al (Agnes), Mathilda (Al) Rathert, Crescentia (Jerry) Weller and Martin (Lola May).
