Sister Elaine (Mary Annunciata) Huelsman
Sister Elaine (Mary Annunciata) Huelsman, age 70, died December 14, 1998, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Francis Convent on December 19.

Sister Elaine was born on January 15, 1928, in Foxhome, MN. She was the fourth of nine children born to the late Raymond and Winnie (Cudd) Huelsman. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls on August 12, 1948. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1950, and final vows on August 12, 1953. She celebrated 50 years as a Franciscan Sister in 1998. Sister Elaine ministered as a licensed practical nurse and as director of transportation for the Franciscan Sisters. She served in Little Falls, St. Cloud, Perham, Foxhome, Breckenridge, Flens-burg, MN, and South Milwaukee, WI. She enjoyed gardening and created many beautiful flower gardens.

Survivors include brothers, Lone and wife Val, Arco, ID, Allen and wife Betty, Turtle Lake, ND, Arlo and wife Doris, and Henry and wife Emma, Foxhome, Ray and wife Barb, Sellersburg, IN; and sisters, Charlotte and husband Roscoe Corell, Omaha, NE, and Maryann Althoff, Foxhome; her brother-in-law, Richard Haarstad, Fergus Falls, MN; many nieces/nephews and grandnieces/grandnephews, and her Sisters in religious life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Louise.

Valeria (Kulus) Forte
Valeria (Kulus) Forte, age 99 , a resident of San Francisco, CA, passed away December 12, 1998, in California.

Valeria was born April 13, 1899, in Flensburg, MN, to Anton and Lucy Kulus. She was the last surviving member of the Anton Kulus family.

Valeria is survivors by two daughters, Lois and Irene; and one son Harold, and many nieces and nephews in the local area.

Anne Musielewicz
Anne Musielewicz, age 74, a resident of Minneapolis, MN, formerly of Little Falls, MN, died peacefully surrounded by her family December 11, 1998, at Catholic Eldercare in Minneapolis after a 23-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Mass of Christian Burial was held December 16 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Leroy Kremer officiating. Burial was at the parish cemetery.

Memorials preferred to St. Otto’s Care Center or Catholic Eldercare of Minneapolis.

Anne was born August 26, 1924, on a farm near Freeport, MN, to Hubert and Antonia (Reuter) Rosen. She completed her training as a registered nurse from St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She then worked as a nurse in Minneapolis. Anne married Ted Musielewicz on December 27, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford, MN. The couple lived in Alexandria, MN, Milaca, MN, and Slayton, MN until settling down in Little Falls in 1966. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Rosary Sodality, Christian Mothers, St. Stephen’s Mission Circle and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Little Falls American Legion Auxiliary Post 46 and the Parkinson’s Disease support group. Anne was an active member of the Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life. She had been a resident of St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls for five years, and then lived at Catholic Eldercare of Minneapolis for nearly two years.

Survivors include her husband, Ted of Little Falls; sons, David Musielewicz and wife Sue (Illg) of Maplewood, MN, John Musielew-icz of Minneapolis and James Musielewicz of Duluth, MN; daughters, Alice Paczkowski and husband David of Minneapolis and Joan Woodward and husband Richard of Melbourne, Australia; four grandchildren; brothers, Hubert Rosen of Holdingford, Leonard Rosen of Robbinsdale, MN, and Clem Rosen of South St. Paul and sisters, Agnes Rosen and Walburga Kerestes of Holdingford, Eleanor Hoffman of Linn Creek, MO, and Dorothy Kopp of Gaylord, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Conrad and one sister, Catherine.

Casketbearers were Marvin and Allen Rosen, Ian Kopp, Alan and Edward Musielewicz and Tony Aspholm.

Honorary casketbearers were members of the American Legion Auxiliary.

John Dedon
John “Jack” Peter Dedon, age 72, a resident of Cushing, MN, died December 16, 1998, at Sun City West, AZ.

A memorial service will be held December 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 50th and Wooddale, Edina, MN.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a business group vice president for 36 years. He retired in 1985. John was a member of the Episcopal faith, a leader in the agri-business and transportation industry, avid golfer, gardener and journalist and also a loving husband and father. He was a professional big band musician in the 1940s.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth M. Dedon of Cushing; daughter, Elizabeth Dedon Pauly; sons, Jon F. Dedon, M.D., James W. Dedon and Dr. Peter Dedon M.D. PHD; sister, Rose G. Dedon Harris; brother, Walter R. Dedon and eight grandchildren.

Margaret Swolley
Margaret L. Swolley, age 83, a resident of Morton, IL, died December 20, 1998, at Morton Terrace, Ltd., Morton.

Funeral services were held December 23 at the Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton with Fr. Eugene Finnell officiating. Burial took place at the Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.

Margaret was born September 19, 1915, to Arthur and Minnie Anderson in Little Falls, MN. She married Frank C. Swolley October 15, 1937, in Little Falls. She was a volunteer secretary at the Decatur Mental Health Clinic from 1974 to 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Swolley of Joliet, IL, and Ronald Swolley of Morton; two brothers, Edward Harrison of Little Falls and Hank Harrison of Little Falls; one sister, Mary Jane Wolters of Little Falls; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister.

Hunter Hiemenz
Hunter Welch Hiemenz, five-day-old infant son of Duane Hiemenz and Bonnie Welch of Little Falls, MN, died December 19, 1998, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services were held December 22 at the Brenny Funeral Home, West Chapel, in Little Falls with Fr. Nick Landsberger officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Duane Hiemenz and Bonnie Welch, paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Jerome and Lorraine Hiemenz; maternal grandmother, Kathy Welch; sisters, Jessica and Amanda Hiemenz at home.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sharon Hiem-enz.

Casketbearers were Dennis Hiemenz and Donald Welch.

Edward Rudolph
Edward G. Rudolph died December 18, 1998, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

Services were held December 22 at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in St. Stephen. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Edward was born in St. Cloud to George and Margaret (Rajkowski) Rudolph. He married Elaine Knettel October 25, 1965, in St. Stephen. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in St. Stephen, St. Stephen Men’s Society, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622, Sartell/St. Stephen Knights of Columbus Council #5276, St. Stephen’s Sportsman’s Club and Central Minnesota Builders Association. He was the owner of Ed Rudolph Construction, Inc., for the past 25 years. He was a past trustee for St. Stephen Church.

Survivors include his wife of St. Stephen; sons and daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Kelly Ann) Oldakowski of Little Falls, MN, Brian and wife Lori of St. Stephen, Christopher of Bowlus, MN, and Sarah of St. Stephen, seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lawrence of St. Stephen, Eugene of Sauk Rapids, MN, Jerome of St. Joseph, MN, Thomas of Clearwater, MN, Robert of St. Joseph, Joseph of Rice, MN, Gerald of St. Joseph and Mary Ann Ritter of Avon, MN.

Casketbearers were brothers and sisters.

Evelyn Spence
Evelyn M. Spence, age 81, a resident of Pierz, MN, formerly of Buckman, MN, died December 18, 1998, at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz.

‘A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 21 at St. Mary’s Villa Chapel. Burial was in St. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

Evelyn was born April 3, 1917, in Lastrup, MN, to the late Frank and Martha (Meier) Grittner. As a young girl, she grew up in the Lastrup and Buckman areas, attending country school in the Lastrup area. She was united in marriage to Wesley L. Spence on February 19, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Spring Lake Park, MN. Evelyn worked in a candy factory and later owned and operated a restaurant. The couple sold the restaurant and began traveling with the O’Neils Shows where they operated a concession stand. The couple retired in 1985 in Spring Lake Park. Following Wesley’s death (October 23, 1988), Evelyn moved to Pierz where she resided at the time of her death.

Survivors include brothers, Henry Grittner of Peerless, MT, and Edward Grittner and wife Elaine of Pierz; sister, Lorraine Pohlkamp and husband Leonard, Sr., of Pierz; sisters-in-law, Clara Grittner of So. St. Paul, MN, and Regina Grittner of Buckman and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley L. Spence; parents; brothers, Leo Grittner and Reinhart Grittner and sister, Christine Grittner.
